Dropped and cracked my phone. what can i do? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

So yeah, the unthinkable happened. I literally threw my phone out of the window while trying to use Google pay. Not my proudest moment. Ended up cracking the bottom of the back glass. I've heard stories of Samsung replacing broken devices within the first few days of purchase. I bought it yesterday. I saw a replacement back for 40$ on eBay. I ordered a dbrand as well. Not sure if I should just sell it at a loss or try if I could get a replacement from Huawei.
What do you guys think my best options are?

sorry for this..
Huawei premium warranty only for display change(first 3 months)
Back not covered!
Next time buy insurance and or protectrive case!

My phone came with a case, did yours? And if so, was your phone in it?
If it was, I think I'll go get a better case for myself

Hi,
You can try ordering one from Aliexpress:
https://tinyurl.com/y7xk6kff
The quality looks close to the original one, plus you unglue that one and stick this on top after cleaning the remaining glue.

Broken AT&T Nexus One

Well my poor phone suffered a fall to the concrete that it was unable to withstand. My screen is cracked and therefore renders the phone useless. I have an extended warranty with accidental damage thankfully tho. Not sure if they are going to just fix mine and send it back to me or give me the money to buy a new one. With that said I just went to Google's site and it says that the AT&T version is temporarily not available. Is this part of Google's new transition or is it just out of stock? I'm hoping it's the later of the two.

Balls. I am hoping so too. In any event, I am sure HTC can fix you up.
Quick question, which phone case were you using when this fall to the concrete happened?
Possibly either that or out of stock? Or out of stock because of that?

Would it make a different with a Solf Gel Silicone case? I'm using the silicone case and it feels like it can bounce really good on hard concrete

However, I wouldn't do it but what do I know.
I used to have a soft rubber case but I had a scare when I dropped it once, got a small scratch near the ear speaker. I quickly ordered the case-mate tough case and couldn't be any happier, this thing is a tank!

This is correct. In the Google support forums, a Google employee confirmed that this was just a temporary shortage and that they would be available in the next few days.
P.S. I just ordered a Tough Case last night. Thanks for making me feel better about deciding to order that

i just checked and you can order an AT&T version on google.com/phone now.
so I dropped my phone about 2 hours ago. Still can't believe it, the AMOLED screen has cracks that run through it, so the display doesn't show anything.
However, everything else is in tact including the digitizer. I guess the AMOLED repair shouldn't run me more than $150 phew.

Cheap OEM Replacement Battery Door

I found these today on eBay and bought 2 of them, one WHITE, one GREY. They are the CHEAPEST I can find online at the moment.
I decided to get the grey because I sound a grey note 2 today and it looked quite awesome. I got the white one so I can have one as a back up.

No worries....I bought them because they are CHEAP almost HALF price than other original battery covers....and other cheap ones don't have nfc.

Do you like them so far?
Let us know how the covers fit when you get them! My original back cover is not snapping all the way in below volume rocker, if I press hard the back cover with the phone on the table I can get the clip hold for sometime, but even the slightest bump to the phone releases the snap from it's home.
The cover leaves a small gap in there which creaks a bit when I hold to phone from that position. I doubt that the operator store has spare ons lying around , but mayby I could try to have a flip-case for free for the semi defect back cover.

Well I decided to go ahead and get one since it is only 15 bucks.
It says though that i shouldn't expect it until mid december. Once i get it though if i can remember ill post some pics.
edit: still waiting, eta is 0-19 days and tracking says it is in my state
new battery door finally came in. Material quality is almost exactly the same as stock. Writing on the back is missing the galaxy note II branding but that may be becuase i have the sprint version.
If your into using nfc then you may wanna go with oem. It appears to not have nfc antenna. The are some 3rd party battery doors that have it built in but they'll cost you a little more.

IF you use one of the 50% off Samsung codes, or register your device on Samsung.com and use the code they send you, you can order a replacement battery door from them for $9.99. Bought mine yesterday morning and had it here by noon today. I messed up the one that came with my phone trying to Mod it.

I had one for my S6E but it wasn't very good. The back scratched up too easily & quickly. Also, the case didn't sit flush on the rear glass, constantly introducing dust and other small grime, again scratching up the case from the inside. And I don't even put the phone in my pocket. It's always inside my belt holster case.
Besides those issues, I loved how slim & light it was. I wouldn't buy it again for the S7E.

Samsung needs to hurry up and get this case in stock at stores. It's the only case I buy for Samsung phones. Well I bought a Insignia case at Best Buy just for something for now.
So once these become available on Samsung's site will be able to save $10 on it with the 30% register code?
A T-Mobile store had the Samsung cover in stock and they said they would sell it for 25% off. I decided to wait and see if Best Buy has since I have $30 coupon from Samsung Pay. I called and don't think they carry it yet. I should have just bought it at T-Mobile. lol As of now I'm suing the Insignia clear case that I bought at Best Buy for $15. I like it but prefer the plastic vs tpu.

T-Mobile has the Samsung clear case. Yesterday a manager was going to give me 25% off since I told him I have 30% for registering my S7 Edge. I decided to wait since I have the free $30 at Best Buy for Samsung pay. Well dumb move since Best doesn't have it. I went back to T-Mobile today and the manager wasn't there but a employee that was right by the manager yesterday that heard us said to come back when the manager was there. The employee was trying to get me to buy two things to get a discount I said no way this crap is way overpriced and I left. LoL

I called Samsung to order the clear case and use my 30% off. After waiting 15mins on hold and then another 15mins the lady couldn't apply my discount. lol I called the T-Mobile store and the manager I talked to before was in so I got 25% off. With all the promo's I got I'm fine paying more on something I like. I'll probably sell my free Samsung wireless charger since I already have 4. lol

Got this case yesterday from Samsung Experience Store - This case is a real looker with the Black S7 Edge. The chrome side finish really contrast and complement the stealthiness of the black.
This case looks nice from the front, but it scratches so easily, after 3 days it looks like sh.. on the back.

No, because it offers zero protection to the top and bottom edges of the phone.
They'd inevitably be marks on that metal within a few weeks, even if you're careful.

Replacement Parts for Back Cover

In a nutshell I have this today:
It's my first day with my phone. I cannot use any case because in my country (Turkey) it's impossible to find any cases. I bought some but they will be delivered at least 1 month ago.
So is there any-where to find a replacement part for my back cover? I asked it to Oneplus itself but they told me that they don't sell spare parts. I looked into ebay but there's not any of it.
I know it's not a big thing but I have a big OCD problem. And it looks like a disaster to me.
ANy help will be appreciated.
I've seen many parts on eBay for OnePlus 3 but no replacement back cover yet. They have everything else though like front glass, vibration motor, battery, antenna, speaker, camera cable.

Ouch, I feel your pain dude.. I would suggest maybe covering it up with a skin for the time being and when they do start making replacement backings eventually, get one then..
two months ago, seen at Aliexpress, price was around 70$, but now item is not available. Just contact with CS and ask how much they will charge for back housing replacement at RMA.

Try one of these in the meanwhile. I'm sure you'll find a combination that suits your style!

Im sure trying to replace it on your own will cause more damage to the device because you can mess up adhesives, screen, other internals & etc
And when they say they dont sell parts it means you will endup with a cheaper manufactured backcover that is not even original. Just keep the device as it is those two dots shouldnt bother you
I'll bough 2 original cases. I think it will be ok when I get them.
By the way on the teardown videos of OnePLus 3 it looks pretty easy to remove the back cover. No adhesive or something. Just removing the bottom screws will do the job.
Man, i had the absolute same problem. When i unpacked my OP3, the charger fell out of the xox and hit the phone on the absolute same place on the bezel
I sold mine on ebay the other day and ordered a new one.
it's really simple to disassemble op3. two screws, and back cover is removed. no glue, ect.

I know I'm late here but how do you guys suggest it would be possible to produce fake back housings at the price they are charging for them? I mean how many people would realistically buy parts exclusively made for one device, and an oneplus 3 at that? A few thousand people at most? If this is the case I don't think it would be financially viable to make any sort of production line for these parts. Aside from stealing original ones from the factory, or mabye defective ones I don't see how they would produce such a limited quantity for so cheap unless they are originals? Any insight?
There are many options for the back cover. The back on my Oneplus 3 was damaged but not as bad as yours. I was planning to replace my back but all i had was a tiny scratch so it wasn't worth it. I will change it when my back is really messed up. When you search for the cover on ebay just search for battery cover You can tell most fakes as they don't have the oneplus logo and for a different colour, try to get one with the sim card tray. Try to get a cover near Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangdong that's where the Oneplus headquaters is. There's also a midnight black cover as well!

Maybe it's something new they do. I mean it's ridiculous we pay a crap ton for these phones. But they don't wanna give us good case and screen protector. They help your cell phone store scam you with a rip off $50 each case and screen protector= $100+.
Wish the law made it mandatory for 1 year warranties to cover drops. Then these companies would actually care to oblige to a good case/screen protector.
