Anybody Grab One of These After a Pixel XL?

So I made an expensive mistake, thinking that I could live with a locked down device and grabbed a Pixel XL through VZW and I've reached a point where my inner flashaholic is screaming for his fix. I am considering other devices and am curious if there is anybody here with a 3T that had previously had one of the Pixels, and their personal opinions on how each device stacked up against each other.

I haven't got a Pixel, but I've used it extensively through work (I'm a web developer, so we used various devices for testing websites with).
The camera is much better on the Pixel, but otherwise the OP3T is just simply better. More RAM, same CPU, more storage (at least, cheaper) which is as-fast, same GPU. Overall better performance (as seen in benchmarks). And, it's unlockable and customisable. It's also brick proof (software brick, not house brick!). So is the PIxel, but your VZW is locked down as you know.

I just traded my pixel XL for a 3t a few hours ago. Time will tell. Will come back to update possibly. Camera is absolutely​ noticable.

Returned my Pixel for a 3T, too. IMO, the blazingly fast 3T is superior in every way except camera. All I want in a phone camera is for it to take good still shots. Couldn't care less for all the advanced crap. 3T's camera is good enough for me. A 1440p screen would be nice, but 1080p works. I also use an iPhone 7+, so am used to the screen size/pixel density.

It makes me wish the camera had the same tech as the flagships because i wouldn't upgrade my phone for anything. I have a feeling oneplus will start making flagships not flagship killers though because lets face it the 3t is like 90% there already. The should release a 5T and 5B (budget), T for people like me who want the best available but don't want to go to samsung, and the B for people who just love the drastically cheaper price and quality phone which is also me .

See it's funny as I was looking to go the other way. Get a Pixel as I tend to change my phone every six months or so. I loved having the pure Android phones with the latest OS.
Are the Pixels difficult to unlock and root? I assumed they'd be as easy as OP3T. I think sometimes I forget how decent the OP3T is! Ian already thinking of getting the Xiaomi mi6 plus until the OP4/5 is released.

The 1080 pentile display on the 3T kills me, I hate it. Apart from that and the poor camera it's better than the Pixel.

The display on the 3T is fine and pentile isn't an issue at all. Also 1080p is just fine and looks sharp. High res screens on phones look silly and are barely noticeable. They also consume more resources to run.

Honestly, it's a pain. TWRP is not reliable. There are a few versions but none can do backups or restore. Basically when something happens you need to plug it in and ADB and/or fastboot. Both SU and magisk (unofficial only) can also get aggravating.
OT while the 3T is fast and is great in many ways. I decided to list mine this week. The camera can get rough as I have a nearly full blurry album from the other night.
Thinking about waiting a month or 2 or diving straight to the Mate 9, still undecided.

My OP3T is now on EBay. I was gonna hop to Xiaomi Mi6, but there doesn't look like a plus version now - and I don't want 5.15", so maybe not. Perhaps the OP5?
I would like to try something else. Huawei seems kinda expensive for what it is.

I wouldn't hold my breath for OP5. My bet is that OP5 shipments will be a nightmare. Way worse than previous shipment issues of OnePlus devices. Leaks are saying that OP5 will come with Snapdragon 835. Samsung already reserved the first batches of 835 making even traditional OEMs to have hard times to get their hands on new SoC.

Eh who knows. 835 supply should be fine during the summer. You have so many flagships waiting. You have to keep in mind the demand could only be for so long.

I'll take it back - the Huawei phones for what you get is a lot more powerful than what is out there. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro is particularly good value stacked against the Pixel/Samsung S8 or iPhone 7 Plus.
However, bang for your buck the Honor 8 Pro/V9 seems to be very good value for money.

Does Shamu have a worthy successor yet ?!

I just asked myself, if my (underestimated)beloved Shamu needs to be replaced tomorrow, for any reason, (hope he won't, at least few years)
which phone could be as good as N6 was (and still is) nowadays ?
I.e. our shamu is being old little by little but still in race yet imo..
Got it since 2 years from now, and the more time passes, the more I like N6 !
-32/64bits transition is in a good way and almost finished (flagships). I think new SoCs (even more powerful) are still not as efficient as SD805 is. (without filling RAM with useless data or using an 32bits-adaptator which waste ressources)
-Cameras are quite better now
-Fingerprint scanner is a classic feature now (if you need it)
-Stock ROM "outdated" and security patch ends soon
-better StB ratio (not that much)
IMO, there's no device yet which beat the Shamu considering overall characteristics. And buying a new one will make me loose some beloved features I guess (screen size/type/quality, awesome dualspeakers, software fluidity, xda ressources/ROMS, Qi, LED)
If I need to buy a new phone today, I'll surely take a brand new N6 but i'll think about waiting for a OP5 or maybe chinese devices P10+/Mi Mix2/Mi 6+.
Which one would you choose ? (do your own suggestions)

I would recommend either waiting for the OP5 or getting the OP3T. I used to own the N6 but it ended in a tragic fate. So I decided to get the OP3T. Love it! Super fast, great camera, great battery, I love the fingerprint scanner, and the notification LED. The only downfall IMO is the speaker. It can easily be covered up and block sound. Other than that I would definitely recommend the OP3T or the OP5 if it it any good

I can only think of the 6P or the pixel... (If you don't get one with the glitched out speaker...) But sorry. I can't think of anything, but I know what you mean. I definitely miss that

The new Google phones are to expensive .
OnePlus 3T or LG G6 are acceptable priced.
But my N6 - debloated and decrypted - is still fast and smooth.

Pixel XL speaker is much weaker (hah). Clear but sounds muffled compared to the venerable Shamu. Also only one speaker so the only stereo is through the headphone jack. Other than that, the Marlin is nice.

I read an article recently that Nokia (Yeah, read that correctly) wants to push the Nexus line back into existence. Or at least as close as possible, replicating the Nexus experience of little to no bloatware, and fast updates. My N6 is chugging along just fine right now, but I hope that Nokia follows through, because that just might be my new phone..

I've been watching for one, but there just aren't a lot of options if you like larger phones. What I need to see...
5.5" minimum screen size. 16:9. Might have to reevaluate if the ratios change much more. 1080p or better.
AOSP builds supported, no locked bootloader.
Better RAM/CPU/storage specs than the N6.
SD card. I don't care if the phone comes with 1TB internal, I want the damn SD slot. The manufacturing cost is about 20 cents, just put it in.
Forward facing speakers that sound decent.
Decent reception on TMobile LTE bands. Ideally supporting all US carriers, but Sprint/VZW are annoying.
Ideally, TMobile WiFi calling enabled.
Ideally, 4000+ mAh battery or user removable so I can get a bigger battery.
Ideally, flat screen so I can use tempered glass screen protectors.
Max price $500 US.
Oh yeah, no spontaneous combustion.
Axon 7 is the only one close. Flat screen and battery are not there, but the price is nice and performance is good. AOSP builds are fully functional now, thanks to the devs over there.

I know it's not a nexus-killer, but I just ordered a Note 5 to replace my Nexus 6. There's nothing that quite matches the beauty of Samsung, plus I just miss the S-Pen. Plus it'll be just enough smaller, thinner, and lighter enough that it won't feel big and bulky in my hand, as well as it being nice and balanced unlike the N6 which is noticeably bigger and heavier on the top than on the bottom.
The only things I'll really miss of the N6 are 1) 100% carrier compatibility 2) Stereo front speakers (oh man, no phone beats these) and 3) plain stock os, although that's starting to lag behind on speed (even though it gets faster antutu than lineage). Anyway. I'm pretty excited. And again, definitely not a nexus-killer in any way, but the Note 5 just has things I value more than getting a vanilla experience.
Besides, if Google is going to turn Apple and make an iphone-clone and also make it so I have to be unrooted/locked anyway in order to pass safetynet, I might as well move back to what's comfortable to use. Just my 2c.

Totally agree and will wait too until he dies
N6 debloated, even encrypted, still runs everything perfectly smoothly and still have one of the best stereo dual speakers.. Autonomy is fine too, event after 2 years he's still running 1 day and half with normal/good use (no wifi, always on 4G, no gps, using youtube with or without earphones at least 1 hour)

Wow, didn't know that phone, looks great. Stock ROM excepted, he really looks like a N6 "successor" (not really sure that SD820+4Go RAM+64bitsOS runs that much better than SD805+3Go RAM+32bitsOS - your opinion ?)(I don't trust benchmarks)

As the Moto X Pure was a nice update of what I loved about the N6, I was hoping that the 2017 Moto X would continue that line. Unfortunately, from the leaks we have seen, it looks more like an HTC phone or even an iPhone than the logical continuation of the N6. But the price points that MotoLenova are hitting are really tempting. I even think the G5 Plus would make a nice phone at that price. I'll see what they eventually release with the Moto X before I decide. I've just gotten to a point where the Pixels of the world are too expensive for what you get.
But like all of us here in the N6 forum, I am still rocking my Shamu.

So insecure and new-gen credit cards are developped right now (with screen/digital pin or fingerprint scanner)

I guess, users who make last their phone 3+ years by rooting, installing customroms, changing screens and batteries themselves, is not worthy in this consumery society..

Here, in France, banks have already made an agreement among them, tu use a local payment service called "paylib". So they don't wanna introduce android pay. (but applepay is already working here..)

SD is one of those things people seem to love or hate. There's no one right way, but there's also nothing saying you have to put a card in there if there's a slot. But if there's not a slot, you have no choice. As it's tiny, costs almost nothing, and harms nothing to have it, why not? Then everyone can have it however they like. Those digital packrats can have tons of storage, those who prefer not to have one just don't install one. The Axon 7 implementation is particularly nice, the SIM tray is a dual SIM and one of them can be an SD or a SIM. It can even be both, but that requires some modifications to the SD cards. IMO the only people to gain anything from it not being there are device manufacturers (sell overpriced higher capacity versions), and cloud providers trying to sell you storage.
Axon 7 is really the only device I could see buying right now. The LG G6 looks nice, but LGs history with bootloops and lack of service has me avoiding them. AOSP is not possible at the moment though, so G6 is out.
OnePlus 3T looks nice, screen is a bit small and no SD.
I really liked my Note 3, but Samsung is on a lockdown thing right now, and I won't buy a device I can't actually own. He who controls the software controls the device.
None have the removable battery, which would be nice, and all are a bit small on battery for me, but I can live with that. Nothing is perfect. I'm in no hurry at the moment, Shamu and the devs here are treating me well.

Ugly - Looks like an iPhone 5, huge bezels, screen not good enough, no dual camera, no headphone jack, no wireless charging.
It'll be extremely fast, no doubt, but for me, Google need to go back to the drawing board with that one. Step back IMO.

The Note 8 (my first Samsung) has converted me from an Android purist. Luckily I seem to have jumped on board just as Samsung fixed the UI lag too.
As good as the Pixel hardware is likely to be, I will not go back to vanilla Android easily now. All phones going forward are also going to need a pen!

Not me, I had a Nexus 1, Nexus 4 and a Nexus 6 but Google has priced me out of their market.

They need to bring back Dev Editions of these Samsung flagships. Best of two worlds. Awesome hardware from Samsung, snappy software from Google. Those were the days.

Even if Pixel 2 XL is nice, they wont be available in my country, and getting them from other country is too much of a hassle. Saw MKBHD video this morning, few samples and they rly looked dope. But so does the Note 8, will be waiting for some camera comparison. Anyway looks rly shady when DxOMark test the phone that is not even released. Note 8 still looks more like a full package to me.

The Pixel isn't waterproof, has no wireless charging, the screen isn't as nice. No headphone jack. Single camera (photo results would be interesting to see though). No s-pen.
I mean, the only benefits I can truly see is stereo speakers and "early access" to Oreo.
Those benefits just aren't worth the drawbacks, imho.
That, and I do love my Note 8.

Seriously tho, being a Samsung fan aside, the Note has too many feature I want that the pixel doesn't. Mainly pen and ip68 and the headphone jack also.

Pixel is waterproof - you are right about wireless charging though and the others - it will be interesting to see how the Camera Works - bought the XL 2 for my wife. We'll see if I end up hijacking it.

I have the original pixel. It works very well, software updates are a huge plus, and I love the camera. The XL 2 is very tempting, but I can get 95% of the camera performance from the gcam apk available on this forum, which I'm hoping will get updates with the new software tricks from the new pixels. And even though I got used to Oreos little enhancements, it'll come to the Note 8 eventually. I knew what I was giving up getting the Note 8 this close to the Pixel launch and even though it'll be blistering fast, it lacks the second camera, headphones Jack, which I just used last night when my Bluetooth headphones battery died, and wireless charging. I really like keeping a charging pad on my desk at work, keeps my phone charged and at a convenient angle for easy viewing and access. And most importantly no s-pen. I did unlock my bootloader on the pixel and play with ROMs and software mods and root was nice, but I don't consider them completely necessary.
Now the pixelbook on the other hand....

Ah, my bad. IP67 on the pixel vs IP68 on the Note - I stand corrected.

I'm tempted but I'll stay with the Note8. I have the Pixel XL as a spare phone and only really use it when I'm out of the country (Project Fi). It takes amazing pictures and I'm sure that will be the only reason why I would really consider owning the 2 XL but never really use it. I think I'll just stick to the Note8 and iPhone combo, the iPhone X is on the horizon anyway.

They effectively double if not trippled their prices during the last two or three incarnations of their devices. Not worth it for me.
Samsung could effectively eff them up if they also released a developer Note 8 version.

Heck no, had the first Pixel for a hot minute when I had to leave my Note7 and that phone was simply BORING. I want all the bells and whistles and the Pixel was so Plain Jane boring I was bored within 48 hours and had to give it back, not to mention no SD card slot to hold my free 256gb card from the Note7 pre-order. #NOTE8POTY

As a hardcore Google purest, I saw that Pixel and now Pixel 2 coming. Was using the XL and loved it, still have it but it's now sitting in its box on my kitchen table waiting to be sold.
Sadly Google has let me down with their poor choices over the recent years. I'll still with the Note 8. Never letting my SPen go ever again unless Samsung does something stupid.

Haha yeah but they don't have all the other upsides. Sincerely, the Pixel XL 2 would EASILY by my #2 phone (if for some reason reason I couldn't have this one). Great device. Loved the original and used to be my favorite phone ever until the Note 8 stole my heart!

Is the OnePlus 3T still a great phone one year later?

Hello again! I've been looking at the OnePlus 3T for a while now, but I didn't want to jump the gun yet.
It was a steady $500 CAD here in Canada for a 64GB and I found a 128GB OnePlus 3T that comes with 2 cases,
for $480 CAD, now, the phone has been out for almost exactly one year now and it's only now $120 off, so this
leads me to my questions, should I go ahead and purchase it? Is it still a great choice, one year later?

As long as you don't need the fake bokeh effect that a dual camera setup gives, you won't regret buying this phone.

I've had mine since April and still love it. Even though that new Pixel XL 2 is tempting, I essentially will do the same thing on both phone and can't justify the money when my 3t is still running excellent

Yes it is. I bought mine in December and it is one of the best purchases that I have made.
To elaborate, I have been mostly stock except for magisk root, and never faced any issues with this device. I use it for work and play, and it never disappoints. I would not change this phone except maybe for the iPhone X (but a $1000+ phone? screw that)

I came in late to the OP3/3T game and got mine in June of this year and haven't looked back since. Sure I 'want' a Pixel 2 XL but damn that price... The 3T has been amazing to me. I've got mine unlocked, using FreedomOS CE with Magisk, AdAway, Substratum (Ozone & Swift Dark), Nova Launcher with Prime & Google Companion, Google Pixel Dialer/Contacts, Google Pixel 2 Live Wallpaper and a slew of other minor things here and there. OnePlus gives you serious freedom and the devs are already pushing hard on custom O ROMs. If you're here on XDA you most likely enjoy tinkering and this phone will let you go above and beyond simply because of the great folks in the various forums and communities let alone the ease to do so because of OnePlus keeping it open.
Side note: You can get the fake bokeh effect easily by using Google Camera with a Magisk Module to fix the crash bug. Neat stuff but I just use the included OnePlus Camera myself.

How much more is the 5? I love my 3t and couldn't be happier with it.

No it's not, it's a fake bokeh effect. It's not all that great, but it's all we have if using Google Camera.

You're probably going to get a lot of us fan-boy-ing about it. Do you have any questions about it in particular? As far as I'm concerned, it's the best phone I've ever had & may betray my normal cycle of purchasing phones (every 2-2.5 years) and just hold onto it.
You're super free with the software. People say it's "unbrickable" (though I just had the scariest experience of my entire custom-flashing-life of the last 7ish years, but it was resolved either way). No removable battery & expandable storage sucks dongers but that's the trend regardless. The specs are far beyond what's needed for a telephone if you ask me. The price for what you get in hardware + software freedom is craziness (in a good way).
The ONLY THING is if you really need amazing camera HARDWARE, then you should be looking at Samsung, Apple, or the new Pixels. That being said, there are many camera mods enabling you to use (on custom ROMs) the OnePlus camera, the Pixel camera with HDR+, the Snapdragon camera, and if you aren't already aware, learning how to use Manual mode can do wonders...

I am just looking for a speedier phone than I have right now, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which I am sure is a definite night and day difference in performance, the OnePlus 3T caught my eye back in February, and the price seemed quite good for such a stunning phone. I do have a few questions, how do you rate the fingerprint sensor? Is it fast or super fast, compared to maybe a iPhone 6S or 7, but that might be stretching it. How does the camera do at night? In a poorly lit room? Thanks for the reply!

Sorry for the late reply! The OnePlus 5 is going for $720 Canadian Dollars for the 64GB, whilst the used OnePlus 3T 128GB is going for $480 Canadian Dollars.

I'm the wrong dude for both of those questions probably. I only messed with fingerprint a littttttle bit on my s5. Compared to that, OP3T is blazing fast.
For the camera, have barely used it honestly! lol Good luck!

I am using stock OOS and the fingerprint is blazing fast.
Regarding the night camera, installing the Google modded apk is the way to go. It offers fantastic night shots.

I have often said to OnePlus that their customer's service should favorably compare to the phones they produce. Their customers service, in a word, is awful. It is somewhat heartening that it is getting better.
They produce a wonderful product. Their support leaves a little more time, I hope. I have never come across a situation quite like this. The quality of their products far exceeds their support. I think. in time that situation will change. They will improve or fail and that would be a shame.
XDA could learn a lesson from what I said about OnePlus. Their product is truth. Their support also leaves something to be considered.

Portrait mode (with dual camera) is fake bokeh also. Just not as fake. It's true, the Google lens blur often results in "fuzzy" edges on the subject, or obviously fake/cheesy looking Photo-chopped effect.

Yeah, it's as good as we can get with the single-lens and OP / OP3T setup. I don't use it even though it's neat for up-close 'macro' like shots, but the fakeness of it does show through most of the time. I'm saving now to get another DSLR and do love my OP3T for quick on-the-go snaps. It is good for that, the picture quality is leaps above most phones out there, and for it's price point, not really anything to compare to it.

Not literally, no. But "portrait mode" is just an Apple baloney marketing name for "fake bokeh effect". Now every phone manufacturer feels like they need dual camera and "portrait mode" (which I'm sure Apple is suing them for using that name). Even dual camera is just software trickery (in conjunction with dual camera) to fake a bokeh effect that will never be possible with the focal length of a smartphone camera.
Obviously, you won't get the exact same effect as a phone that has dual camera (OP5, iPhone plus, etc.).

Back to the original question: I would say YES it's still a great phone.
I was unimpressed with the OP5, with its mostly incremental improvements, and the "jelly effect". We've actually seen a number of folks on this forum, looking to get a new phone, and opting for the 3T instead of the 5.
Of course there are other, impressive options (Pixel 2, Galaxy S8) with their own pros and cons. But of course they are quite expensive, and don't measure up to the shear value of the 3T; with its combination of build quality, value, and dev community here on XDA.
I don't find myself yearning for the "latest and greatest" phone yet. Maybe next year. The 3T is holding it's own quite well, and still a very solid and capable device.

Nokia 8 is available for INR 28k. So is it worth buying considering SD835 and camera quality or is there any better option ?

As of the locked bootloader, issues with obtaining root and maintaining updates from OTA at the same time and lack of custom roms I would rather choose Pocophone F1 nowdays. The battery is also smaller on this one and ONLY advantage of N8 over F1 is the camera from Carl Zeiss.

And at Amazon, the Nokia 8 is £100 cheaper than the Pocophone, I'd say that was a good advantage

I'm guessing you can get the Pocophone F1 or Honor Play for similar or less money in India? I'd seriously consider those (I own a Nokia 8 but if I was buying today I'd probably look elsewhere)

I haven't got any issue on OTA updates so I would always recommend Nokia 8. It hasn't give me any problem issue either, not even with Bluetooth as some people had wrote. I'm pleased with the camera quality, stock Nokia camera is decent enough, but if you want better post processing image to obtain better picture quality and really good HDR+ option you can install Google camera posted here in some thread. Another good option is installing open camera app from playstore, with it I can set up 4k at 60fps and it does record video without any crush. I haven't check on PC about if it's really recording at those parameters though.
Another plus that I believe is build quality. Nokia has been always outstanding in that department. I don't know about pocophone's build quality, nor endurance durability. So I can't say if it is good or bad. But I can surely say Nokia is better, no doubt. Lol
But of course, if you want better performance in paper I would recommend you pocophone, as it has the latest snapdragon processor and RAM I think (?).

I picked mine up at the beginning of August and don't regret the purchase at all. The camera issues are exaggerated - isn't great in low light, but it's pretty decent in normal light. To be honest if you want a really good camera you still need to buy a proper camera, but as phones go it's not terrible. The processor is more than up to most jobs. It's really nicely built - solid and with a decent metal back. At current prices you're getting a near top-end phone at mid-level prices.

, i bought Nokia 8 on very first day launch in india. it has image retention and heating issues.
only advantage is camera 2 api enabled by default.
so it can able to run gcam mode.
rather i would suggest go with mi a2 for overall all same stock experience with great camera and large aperture 1.75 with sony sensor. it would be joy to use gcam mode with this setup.
don't go with poco f1, display issues and camera is just worst and not even comparable to 2 year old mi5.

I have dual sim Nokia 8 and screen, looks like, shape of metal, plastics and screen is better than any Xiami phone ever. Nokia 8 is a top model of fashion for almost all mobile phones made it until now. It is really worth to buy in October too!
For me no heating problems, or any other. Camera with google or other aps are ok.

For the price nothing seems to compare now spec wise, I've got a 950xl that has some kind of weird power draw issue which has forced my hand to finally ditch windows phone.
Sadly instore the Nakia 7.1 instantly took a better picture but I found I hard to spend more money on a 'lesser' phone, hoping the updates and different camera make it better!
I personally really like the style on the Nokia, I was considering the oneplus but then for the difference in price for what you get, is it really worth spending over double? I was set on buying a P20 Pro, but photos didn't seem to compare to the 950xl (tried them side by side instore) and I learnt very quickly that I really hate the 'notch' at the top, figured if I'm settling might as well get a pretty phone, considering what else you can get with the same specs seems to be double the price at least in the UK so far i'm happy. and I've saved a fortune by not buying the P20 Pro

Don't buy any Nokia device if you want install custom ROM and or flash custom recovery.
HMD isn't Nokia!

I've just bought the missus one, £250 with a 2 year warranty is a no brainer, you could pay more for a Moto G6 Plus and get Pie and the odd security update in about 18 months if you are lucky.
The camera isn't as bad as people seem to get rather heated about, it is a bit crap in low light but for most situations it is fine.
I have had mine 11 months and it has been nothing other than great.

I agree. Camera is not bad. Also, it is not awesome but successful enough. I see the reality of colours is definitely good. I don't like to see fake and stupid colors in my pictures. It still worths to buy at the moment.

IMO the best Device in Years. Even w/o Root/BLU Android One is damn cool, I won't buy any Phone without One anymore. And having a 1/8" Jack which doens't suck (Compared to Sony's is Great), the SD Card Slot I can't live without having Hundreds of Gigabtes of Lossless Music, 16:9 but with Hardware Button seems more sensefull than 18:9 bc Videos still are 16:9 anyway, I still prefer IPS over OLED due to Burn-Ins... I haven't been Disappointed yet!

DO NOT BUY POCO F1. Im actually poco user and want to switch to this. Tons of bugs and problem that they still not fix after 1 months of release. there also screen bleeding issue, multitouch issue, weird audio issue while using headset while playing game and ugly notch. Stay away from poco
Edit : also MIUI is very bad OS. Tons of bloatware and they even put ads on anything like file manager or the weather widget. Its just soo annoying.
One more thing worth noted custom rom isnt really friendly now on xiaomi devices because they are putting anti rollback which will hard brick your device.
Just buy nokia because android one is far better.

I've just bought one of these too, £259 John Lewis and I think it's a bargain. I bought it as my Moto G LTE needed to be retired and I was going to go for a Moto G6 but when I saw this it was too good a bargain to refuse. I agree with you about Moto's not so good update policy. So far so good with the Nokia 8 and it ticks all my boxes, never use a phone cam for anything other than the odd snap or car bump, I've a DSLR for proper photography so a phone cam never really enters the equation.
