Quick question for you guys. Does anyone else here lose a good portion of their battery after installing a rom? I lose like, 20% or so after flashing one. Like, I could be at 80%, and after wiping and flashing a new build I'm down to 60% or so. Is it to be expected or is my battery on it's way out?
Yes. I was on Nitrogen 4-15. I dirty flashed the latest and my battery would drop insanely. I was thinking I would have to get a new battery. I clean flashed 4-15 again and updated. It is fine now. Battery is lasting twice as long for me now.

I recently started playing with some new ROMs and have found that I like Liquid Smooth the most.
The battery drops stupid fast (extended battery only 8 hours, same usage factors as .232 which I got close to two days per charge). Thought it was the ROM until I tried Eclipse and it had the same issue.
So I booted back into .232 and the battery does not read the same percentage. In .232 I have 95% battery as where the custom ROM will show 86%.
What is going on and is there a fix?
Only thing I found was this (different phone) but was never resolved.

Can't edit and its already at the top so I am not bumping, but this probably should have been in troubleshooting. Sorry.
I flashed CM 10.2 last night, and it had about 80% battery. But in the morning found the phone's battery dead. Recharged it again, and found out that it was losing 10% of charge in 15 minutes on standby. This is the first time I had battery issues like that.
I was using HarshJelly (latest build) , over which I flashed Carbon ROM (Build 6). But the carbon ROM was stuck in a bootloop.
SO, I decided to flash the benevolent CM 10.2. But got the battery issues I just mentioned.
I checked that wifi was off and brightness was at minimum.
AFAIK, kernel might not be the problem as CM installs its own kernel, as told to me by the people here at xda.
Does somebody has a similar problem? How can I stop this?

You did factory reset and you wiped cache and dalvik cache? What was consuming your battery most? BTW CM10.2 is draining battery more than stock and CM10.1 I think.
Yes, the usual drill - factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik. Each of the times I flashed a new ROM.

Discharge/full charge 3-4 times. It should make it more normal... In Battery settings, what is shown to drain most?
The top drainers are-
1. Android System - 21%
2. Android OS - 18%
3. Mediaserver - 16%
4. Apollo - 12% (listened to music for over an hour before last recharge, using headphones of course)

This is first chageing after installation? Probably Mediaserver scan something, after it is done it will not drain that much. Like I told, do 3-4 cycle of discharge/charge. After that you will have better picture about battery life.

I bought another battery and for my surprise I got the same performance. So I investigate and I installed a battery calibration. You must be root for use it. You must charge the phone all the night, and on the morning, you launch the application without unplug the phone to the charger. Once you did it, unplug it, and try!
You must do it after every ROM install.
As shut_down said, the battery pretty much figured itself out after a couple of discharge cycles. Right now, I charge it once every two days! :highfive:

I want to try this too...
It's charging until 100% and then use until 0% then charge again???
Or is charge until 100% then discharge a little and charge again until 100%??

Charge to 100%, discrarge to something about 0% (0-5%). And again charge to 100%.
there isn't such thing as battery calibration. 10.2 is a battery drainer, period

Offtopic: I remember Saint from MadTeam said that battery calibration didn't existed... And i agree with him...
Well i tried this (I discharged my phone completely) and after charging overnight, it feels good...
Still testing...
If i play n64 on my phone for 1h, then the screen time lasts around 2h30m...

CAn anyone suggest how to fix battery drain im on fxp Cm 12 02/09 and i turned everthing off and battery on low brightness. Also this happend before on other roms.NEEd a fix please reply fast:crying::crying:
What other ROM's did this happen on? Were they also Lollipop ROM's? I personally experienced this once on CM12, my phone went from 70-ish % to 1% overnight by doing absolutely nothing! My advice is to come back to Lollipop when it is more stable, it's way too buggy right now to be used as a daily driver IMO.
ok
Ok ill try crystalpa 8.50 and will let you know about the battery. Well i dont in the first place why my battery is draining it wsnt draining last week i use to leave my phone overnight. It used to be 100% to 95%.NOw its 100% to 79% which is bull****:crying::crying:

Have you switched back to KitKat yet? I noticed the battery going down a lot quicker on Lollipop myself.
i use stock jelly bean, and i get 5 hours screen time on average, sometimes i get 6h+
kitkat
Yes I'm on KitKat now crystalpa 8.50 that battery is still draining and how do you get 6hours battery screen on time on jellybean please explain the method thanks:crying::crying:
battery efficient rom
Can anyone please suggest a good battery ROM that doesn't drain battery thanks.:crying:
The stock Sony ROM's have the best battery life.
My battery drain faster then Light!
Since 4-months I seeing that my phone battery draining like as faster as saying 123456789.before 4month its worked really fine suddenly what happed i could not understand! My phone battery is 4000mAh at first its worked really fine...But what happen now? yaa i changed the Rom to Lollipop but after saw this problem i came back into kitkat again... My phone model is Walton Primo GM..Hope I will get my solution! Thanks All!
Same here with the battery. I returned to stock 4.3 to see will the problem remains.
i have been using one plus x charger since few days.. battery charges from 14% to 70% in around 30 minutes (with 3g onn!!)
What could be the problem for this? Few days ago i didn't have problems with battery and then suddenly yesterday morning it went to 50%, though i charged it at 100% the night before.
So I've been having TERRIBLE battery life with practically every rom I run ever since everyone jumped shipped to Lollipop. I could obviously switch back to Kitkat and downgrade my firmware, but I'd rather stay on Lollipop.
Is there any fix for the poor battery life? Even everyone I know with unrooted M7's on AT&T have been experiencing awful battery life since the carrier pushed the update to all phones.
Clear battery cache and install any battery boosting app it may worke☺
I'm on Viper One and it's working great.
2-3% drain over night.
I can get about 5-8hrs of screen time.
about 2-3hrs to fully charge

If i can get those stats I will be super happy. Which version of VIperOne are you running? 9.0? The last Viper Rom I ran was 8.0 and it was ok at best on my phone.
if you solved you problem please give me some clue

I've been flashing custom ROMs like crazy, like at least two every week. I've noticed that the battery backup has reduced drastically. Even after going back to the stock ROM. Earlier, I used to see a 1-2% drop in battery percentage at night, but now its 24-30%. Is it because of the heat, that the battery experiences after flashing and initialization and setup of the ROM, that there is reduced battery life?
Nope.
