Sony Calendar App instead of Google - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

I use my calendar mostly with my Exchange Mail Account and the new Google Calendar app on the XZ1 is less flexible than the Z5 Sony Calendar.
Would it be possible to install the Sony Calendar on the XZ1 phone? If so, how to find the APK?
TIA!

I think I installed it from Play Store.. Anyway, here's the extracted apk!

APK mirror lists every version, in case you are looking for a specific one

Hi, is there a version that allows the overall color to be changed? On my z5 compact the default was a light blue which I didn't mind, but I have the xz1 compact now and after downloading various versions from different years on the APK mirror lists, the color is now black.
Also to clarify in case I've been unclear, I'm referring to the border color where the month is and the numbers/dates on the calendar.

Not anymore... link is dead.
BTW: The System App "Calendar Storage" is not listed among the installed apps (I did check "Show System Apps"). Is this not required for Calendrio?

Weird... I can still download from the link

I would just like to mention, if your using exchange for email, there is already a calendar built into the Outlook App.

This is what I ended up using on my ZX1: the Google calendar I didn't like and I was able to install the Xperia calendar linked above but then I would need the mail account as well so finally I decided to use outlook for exchange as well as the outlook calendar.
A tip for those considering the outlook calendar: you can find a direct calendar link for home screen under widgets.

I am trying to avoid the Outlook App as it stores your account credentials on servers from Amazon in the US (I am from the EU), cfr:

I am trying to get access to my Exchange Calendar by adding an Exchange ActiveSync account but somehow it does not show in the standard Calendar App of the XZ1 -- it appears that only Gmail-accounts and a few events from my previous phone in "SYNCML-ORPHANEND" ; I think Xperia Companion Transfer created this "account" trying to transfer the on device Calendar of my Z1C (a total failure as almost all events were not transferred...)

Weird indeed: after clicking the link I get an "URL not found" error message and when I search for "Xperia Calendar" in Google Play it is not in the list (Xperia Calendar Widget on the other hand is)...
Maybe this is an EU vs US thing (assuming you are also running Android 8 on an XZ1 compact). Where are you geographically?

I am located in Germany. Checked with my friends in Netherlands and the link seems to be dead for them as well. Yep, xz1c running Android 8.0

I ended up installing Bussiness Calendar 2 -- I first tried TinyCalendar but that could not sync with Exchange.
BC2 seems quite privacy friendly after you disabled the Google Firebase stuff, works with exchange, has an intuitive interface and has a great widget showing the next items in your Schedule with scrolling support to look further in the future -- this is really going to help my rather calendarless brain!
Also: it can delete this stupid "syncml-orphaned" calendar which Xperia Companion created (I think).
Quite happy with BC2!

Hi - In Australia - just downloaded it fine - happy camper

Shared tasks from gmail

In Gmail I can build several lists of tasks, and name these as I want to.
I can easily add tasks to each list, and simply click them to mark them as "completed".
The GREAT thing is, that the exact same lists are available directly on my Hero, AND with the exact same features as in the web-version
But, unfortunately, there is no option in Gmail, to share any of these task-lists with somebody else.
If that was possible, the task-lists in Gmail would become a fabulous tool. Just imagine that you could share and "realtime-sync" a shoppinglist with your wife. And other tasklists with collegues etc.?
2 Android units could go shopping in separate warehouses, and NOT come home with "2 of a kind".
Ideas anyone? Or is there an Android developer out there, who can see the potential in this idea?
How do you access your Gmail Tasks on your hero? What app are you using?
I connect through Gmail in my browser:
http://mail.google.com/tasks/android
It keeps logged in to my regular Google account, and gives me direct acces the various lists, I made here.
couldn't make soemone a app ? that also can be used as a widget it would be very nice. i looked for a long time but couldn't find it there where apps that said it would sync with gmail but it was synced with calander and not tasks.

Well, in my case, the sync between tasks work perfectly.
What I need is a way to share a task-list in the same way as I can share a calendar...
Thanks for the tip, but I have to agree with commodoor. The sync works ok as long as you are connected to the internet, once you disconnect you are left in the cold. An app that will allow you to work on your tasks off-line and sync only whenever you want would be useful. Sharing will be also a plus!
Right now i'm using google calendar also for my tasks, only that i can sync it with my phone and viceversa

I tried that. It's no good!
Much too complicated to set-up properly, and sharing a list is a PITA!

Yeah - that looks nice.
But that is not, what I'm looking for. The native Google Tasks already does this.
The problem is, that Google Tasks can't be shared, like the calendar does.
yes you can share task lists
Check out gmailsharedtasks.com

is google calendar still something that doesn't work?

now that talk, market, etc seem working...it seems calendar is the last hole to plug.
the 3rd party apps i have like pure calendar and touch calendar can't find anything.
is there already a fix for this or still a WIP?
Latest version of Auto-Nooter includes the calendar app, but it will not sync with the Google servers. I hope someones working on it, but then again, I hope those with the expertise are working on a full blown ROM for us to upgrade too.
There was some discussion about this awhile back.

Can you see those using the apps provided by the Autonooter-2.12.15?

If you have the accounts set up correctly and the apk's in place, you should have no problems syncing. ... Puzzling ...
Can you see your accounts in Google Books or Google Reader?
I'm having strange synching issues.
I grabbed both apks from the link above...the 2nd set.
placed them in system/app using Root explorer.
Rebooted. Now i have Calendar in the app tray.
I have one main Calendar and 2 Other Calendars (Wife's and Facebook events).
All linked under my gmail account.
In the calendar settings I do see all of these...however seeing that they are arranged alphabetically...my Wife's name goes on top...so hers are the only events that are being displayed.
So is it still ONLY ONE calendar can be displayed at a time? I do see all of them...and I can check/uncheck as I please to select... but would really like to view all...
Did i use the correct set of APKs?
and for some background.
I rooted with Supernooter.
Then got gapps using Auto_nook0.8 Autoconfig process.
Everything's working as desired except this calendar synching issue...and it'd be ideal not having to go through a newer Root process from scratch again...Thanks
Anyone have the calender apk out the the "auto-nooker"?

I am now also noticing strange behavior:
Initially, I rooted with nooter-2 and installed GApps/Market and Calendar separately (as was done at the time).
I am noticing that, although the initial sync picked up all the calendars from my login Gmail account, new events are synced only from Nook to Google server.
Importantly, I cannot sync new events to Nook from my Google calendars!
Also, and, at this point, a minor issue: my other Gmail accounts are not harvested for calendars (likely because there is no provision for this during "Add Account" dialog).
Can anyone please check on their Nooks whether new events get added to their calendars when created on devices other than the Nook?
If anyone succeeds: what was your root and Calendar installation methods?
Thanks.
Updates: the same is true for me with Autonooter-2.12.15 and Autonooter-2.12.18 (FW1.0.1).

I have this problem also. Initial sync worked fine, but I'm not seeing newly added events.
There doesn't seem to be a way to force a sync...
It seems that one peculiar difference with my phone's Calendar operation is that on the Nook the service called "Calendar Storage" (com.android.providers.calendar) is not running.
Anybody have any ideas? Does this possibly explain lack of ongoing synchronization?
I have dabbled a bit in different versions of Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk from different Roms, but had no luck. The apks from cm-5.0.8 are the only ones that work as well as we have seen.
There is a free app (Business Calendar Beta) that has an effective "Sync now" function.
This thing triggers the latent calendar sync with the Google servers.
... Unfortunately, it is just a "Band-Aid" for this lack-of-syncing problem, but ... nevertheless.

In a similar vein, I got "Syncer Widget" to work, so I just put the widget next to the calendar widget to remind me to sync every now and then.
Just don't click on the choice to go to Android accounts and sync, as that rebooted my NC.
I did a complete wipe (system and user data) then autonooter w/ 1.01 firmware; not issues w/ my calendar syncing, but I only have one google account.

Do you mean that when you add an event on your Nook, it appears on your Google Calendar page (on the computer) and vice versa: when you add something on your GCal, it appears on your Nook?
Yep, works both ways. I'm using the Launcher Pro calendar on my nook and it's syncing no problem with my google account calendar.

@Kokanee483, I see, you probably mean the Launcher Pro widget calendar.
It may have a force sync function which is cool and would solve the problem in a way symilar to Synker or Business Calendar Beta.
I am more interested in the fundamental problem of CalendarProvider service not running.
Would you mind checking whether it syncs both ways from the Calendar App itself?
Also, if you have NookColor Tools, would you check Running Services for the CalendarProvider service entry?
Thanks.

[Q] Google calendar Sync on Autonooter-ed NC

Newbie here...
I got my Nook Color a few days ago, rooted using auto-nooter 3.0.0
It's running 1.1.0 and so far the experience has been pretty good.
One question tho has to do with syncing the calendar with my google calendars. Right now I am able to sync with a public calendar, but I can't find a way for the calendar to use my google gmail credentials to sync with my non-public calendars (altho when I go into the calendar app -> Setting -. My Calendars the list of calendars that I subscribe to in my gmail account show up, which means to me that it has connected once to get this info).
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I'va the same problem.

I cannot thank you enough! This is one of the biggest things I was looking to get resolved, and what a straightforward solution! I've modded my DX and feel totally comfortable working with it and CWR, but I'm really struggling with the NC and this is a win for me as I make small steps in my understanding. Thanks again
I installed Calengoo, which I have also used on my iPod Touch to sync with Google Calendar seamlessly

Keep in mind that to KEEP it synced, you'll need to use Synker or some other similar application. It won't sync automatically. There's a few threads with people saying they've managed to make it work one way or another, but I've never managed it myself.

So you add an event on the web side and it syncs automatically to the NC? Damnit, why can't I get this to work.... You're using stock B&N rom with auto nooter or other rooting process, right?

Correct. I had to double check this today, and yes, it works! I add something on my computer (using a web browser) into Google Calendar, and almost immediately it shows up in the calendars of my Nook Color and Nexus One.
I'm using the stock ROM (1.1.0) with auto nooter (3.0.0). I followed the instructions above to re-add the Gmail account, and automagically the calendar started auto-syncing! (I have Touch Calendar, but also Jorte and Calendar Pad installed, but I don't think that has anything to do with it?)
I hope you will get yours to work too, and I'll be happy to answer any more questions you have.

Hi...
I am using cloudmagic for few months... Tried many but fully satisfied with Cloudmagic...... Create an account in cloudmagic... then configure all your accounts...... If you flash roms and once you install cloudmagic afresh, just log in with cloudmagic account and you will have all your pre configured emails ready including exchange accounts.....

I have been using outlook beta from play store. Love it because it skips encryption or forced pin usage from the exchange server. Also MailWise is excellent. Also has option to skip encryption or forced PIN if you enable it. No root necessary.

I feel Nine is the best apps so far. Only thinking whether I should buy it or not.
Just to use the mail App I moved to MIUI, which is having good mail app.
I do not understand why Google is not making a good app with their build. Google mail app/stock does not show pictures in mail rather it show it as attachment.
I mean if anyone sending picture pasted in mail text space, then it comes as attachment.
My previous phone was Samsung and really like the mail application. I used Huawei phone same experience, mail application is good. Only for Oneplus one where I have to use CM or CM flavour ROM which does not have a good mail application. I have even tried in recent lollipop builds, all mail apps having same issue. Picture comes as attachment.

Outlook to Google Calendar Sync

Hi all,
I suspect that there are all manner of threads on this very topic given the difficulties that each company (Google and Microsoft) seem to have imposed with regards to syncing between the two, however, I find I get a more directed response if you ask in the specific phone type, so here it goes:
I have a hotmail account. I have had for years and it's my main email account and that which I use for work. Outlook has also a feature that picks up potential scheduled events from your emails and drops them into your calendar for you which I find useful. I also have a gmail account because, well you know, I love Android phones. However, having purchased a Oneplus 3t and coming over from an Xperia Z5 I am having some unexpected difficulty in syncing all my events and calendar schedules into one calendar view. I am using the Google calendar widget and would like a way of syncing my outlook events into this calendar. Is there any way of doing this?
I used aCalendar+ with the Z5 BUT there was the option to add Exchange accounts via the stock email app on that phone which I assume was the catalyst for allowing me to sync everything together in aCalendar+. This isn't an option on the OP3t.
Therefore is there a work around or an app that can do it for me? I am happy to use a decent third party calendar app providing it allows for a decent widget view option but would prefer to use google calendar view instead if possible.
PLEASE HELP. I thought this would be such an easy thing to achieve.

But what it does do is allow you to add a 'proper' Exchange account to your device which means the Google calendar app can be kept up to date. I then use the Gmail app for my three email accounts thus getting exactly what I need from the app itself. It's almost an app simply for syncing accounts more than anything else.
I have no issues with exchange showing up in Google calendar. Perhaps the truck is to add your exchange account in your Gmail app. You could still use another mail app to use exchange if you prefer (turn off all Gmail notifications for your exchange). I have gotten accustomed to using Gmail app for all my email accounts. I am on office 365. I know some older exchange servers don't get along with Google, my wife is on a 2003 exchange (for some reason beyond me). Nine is the only email app that works for her. Gmail will start out working but eventually stops syncing.
