Odin flash UK firmware with BTU CSC and you should be alright again. No need to start a new flipping thread! LJ

New thread ?what you talking bout ive only started 1 thread jeez .and how do you flash it i dont own a pc or know about rooting and stuff.i only got my phome back today from the service centre after replacing the screen again.but they flashed frensh fw instead of uk .why would they do that?

So why you don't bring it back to the service centre? If you don't have a pc you can do nothing. You also wrote they damaged your device. 1 more reason to bring it back to that service centre.

The phone was flashed and reset by samsung uk service centre when they installed screen number 4 .they aslo broke the back glass for the second time and left big gap down the right side.and flashed the fw in French. If i do a factory reset it loads up in french.looking at my fw on my phone its the french version.some dickhead at samsung flashed the werong fw .im english not bleeding french dont want that **** on my phone

Well, its clear that ranting here will not solve your problem, if changing language in settings is not enough for you, then, you ought to go where the undesired fw was installed, that's it, you stated that you do not own a pc, I assume you do not have any experience flashing fw, odin, etc, so, go to the above mentioned London service centre, and demand them to get a UK fw installed,

If i update it using ota as there is the june uk fw will it put delwte that nasty French crap ?and put me back on real firmwhere ,and if i factory reset it will it go back to french fw or back to english?

Your phone will only get OTA updates for the installed firmware. So if XEF French firmware is installed, you won't get BTU UK updates. You need to flash first the firmware with correct BTU CSC. Maybe it will change the CSC related to the SIM card you put into your phone. If I know right, normally it should change the CSC related to your providers sink card CSC

The OTAs you get are for the firmware currently installed on your phone, not a different firmware. If you are on the 'wrong' one, then OTA won't change that.
I would try a factory reset without your sim, then start up phone, setup, and insert sim. If it's still not working to your liking, then either return it to the service center or get access to a computer and read up on using Odin to flash the proper firmware for your device.

Why you don't simple tap the country and select English? That's the first initial screen where you should can change your language

It isn't a French firmware. It's a multi CSC firmware for Europe. It's only frensh CSC pre selected.

How can i get it onto the stockk uk ee fw like it used to be .i dont want french csc what ever that means. I want it back to being uk is there anything i can do other than take it back and make them flash uk fw csc?

You don't need an UK firmware. What you talking about is the UK CSC code. Check your software information. There is the CSC code. When the phone recognize your UK SIM card from your UK provider, it should change the CSC. So for you it should showing BTU/BTU/XEF.
If that's not work for you, you need to flash the firmware with pre selected BTU CSC code.
(On my case it's showing 3 times DBT for Germany)

Hi.
Same here. But when he restart to update the firmware i have an error code : ox13e
Since rooted v10f.
If someone have an idea.
Ilan
Germany recevied V10H OTA just now
updated from V10F
Yes, I have just update my device. But at the reboot (once I have updated), there is another software update aviable. Then, I find the ox13e error, as ilan_75 said...
This message appears: "Your phone is in rooting condition" (or something similar), "so you can't update. Conect to LG Suite and recover your device" (something similar).
Even so, I have look at my version software and I see "LG-P880-V10h-NOV-19-2012"
Restore some of the stock LG apps, that should make OTA work again.
I got the OTA also today. I unfroze all apps but still got that error. Should I unroot first then?
Edit: Never mind, rebooted once and tried again and works now, my fault.
Doesn't work after all, even did an unroot.. I think I'll just use the kdz updater.
Yeah, i flash v10h yesterday by using PC Suite. No Problem with rooting again or anything else,
BUT still autofocus and kamerasounds on silent/vibrate mode
Damn, LG..
Updating via OTA didn't work for me either. I tried restoring all apps that I had removed, tried a rootkeeper and unpimped my rom... 0x13E
Updating via PC Suite does work, but having to resort to Windows and re-rooting is quite annoying .
OTA just reccived in sweden 2
Confirming update in Sweden.

Unless you can go out of Germany, then, you arrive to Europe... and you buy a European phone

All the european countries have euro_open versions, and the specific German, Italian, whatever... is because of the brands. But the firmware is the same...

The firmware is the same, but some of the europe open devices in Germany didn't had the update yet (via OTA) while others had it.
And afaik there are unbranded devices which are not registered as euro open, but as german. The firmware is/was the same. These devices had the FW Update a few days ago already. (Therefore most perople asked if the German FW is Euro Open.)
Don't blame me for this, I don't know why LG does this.

Here; I have mine for 3 solid hours .
This is the SM- N920I release. Therefore purchased new. Sealed .
At first start there in the list: French - France for the language.
So I set all without worries.
No worries grip level of the network. Whether in town or in the countryside.
On my trip I had the 4g . The 3g . And at home in the countryside I'm Edge ; As with other smartphone I've owned .
So I have a Note 5 Version completely in French and I do not see any fault in relation to a unit purchased in Europe such as notes 4. Unless the Note 5 is frankly a very beautiful and strong improvement .
It is downright gorgeous. The back is very pretty ; more plastic . The screen is sublime.
It is super fast ; fluid; pleasant .
I'm tired; going to bed . More information later.
Looks like another . That's all for the time being
Hey guys , can you tell me if this firmware for the model SM - N910i supports Italian language ( PDA : N920IDVU1AOH2; CSC : N920INZC1AOH2 ) . In addition, the model SM - N920I is factory unlocked and you can flash with odin any firmware of this model ?! Thank you!

OK thanks. This model has no problems with locked bootloaders , right ?. One last thing , I assume you have the firmware NZC , there is also the Italian language system ?.
The locked bootloader is down to your carrier but that "shouldn't" prevent the same model firmware flashing.
Yes I have NZC and as you might notice from one of my older posts it contains almost every language by default

Does the NZC firmware have any bloat or carrier branding (i.e. carrier boot animations)? Because I have the TNZ firmware which has the Spark splashscreen and a Spark app that's just bloat since I use the phone on Vodafone. One other thing, is the stock internet browser Samsung's browser, because for me it's Y! TWorld, which is the same thing functionally, it just bugs me that it's been renamed and has a different icon.

No carrier bloat or branding other than the uninstallable 2Degrees app
Yeah there is a reason I never get a spark phone ever since my first one, all of the extra rebranding and removal of certain apps to put their own ones in...
In fact after one of my friends who had the same phone as me but was lagging constantly saw that I had no spark branding and asked if that was the problem with his phone (we both had the Exynos Note 4)

So flashing this firmware should remove the carrier branding? Awesome! Just one last question, could you post a screen capture of the pre-installed Internet browser? Because mine is different to what it should be and I'm wondering if that's down to the firmware.
(Sorry I can't post a screen capture of it, I'm new to the forums so it won't let me.)

[Noob Question] Help me identify my Galaxy Note 8

Hi there,
i bought my Note8 around Novemeber 2017 from a UK online reseller: everything was fine, i got it (i live in Italy), it was brand new, sealed, etc
Now the problem: i didn't get any firmware update since then, and i'm still stuck at the August 1, 2017 Android security patch level.
By googling around the Build Number, it appears my phone is actually from South America, but i'm not sure.
Question: can you help me identify where my phone is exactly from?
And if it's from another region, does that impact my ability to get firmware updates?
Attached is a screenshot of my

Go to Settings>About phone>Software information, under Service provider SW ver look at the CSC code (XXX/XXX/XXX). The last 3 letter code is the phone's original CSC. Search google or Sammobile or post it here.

BTW you should get OTA updates fine if on stock unrooted firmware. My N950F is from the UK (XEU) & I'm in the USA, OTA updates worked fine when I was stock. Some regions/countries get updates slow but yours is an old fw & you should've got an update by now.
You could always flash updated firmwares manually though. When happens when you go to Settings>Software update & check for updates?

Thanks, here it is:
Service provider: SAOMC_SM-N950F_OXM_ITV_0025
ce071717249b6410017e
ITV/ITV/BRI
Bri = Taiwan? But when i search using the Baseband version, it looks like my phone is from South America.
I keep checking the software update tabs, but it says i'm on the latest firmware:
Current version: N950FXXU1AQI8 / N950FOXM1AQHF / N950FXXU1AQHB (this last one is my Baseband version).
Yes BRI is Taiwan. Baseband version doesn't tell you where the phone originated, it's just the modem version. You can check N950F from other regions with the same baseband version. You can pretty much flash any region N950F firmware, the BRI part will never change though. Just read up on changing CSC, if flashing firmware from a different region, I believe changing CSC will wipe data. Firmware will be pretty much the same though if you flash an unbranded (carrier free) firmware.
Weird that you don't get updates, there's 5 newer firmwares than what you are currently on. Maybe someone else can figure out why updates are not working for you. I wasn't stock for very long so I'm not sure. I waited like 3 days before rooting mine & that was the longest I have ever waited to root since I've had Android phones.

So, if i understood correctly: my note 8 is from Taiwan, and i should have received the latest OTA (N950FXXU3BRA8) but for some unknown reason i'm still stuck at N950FXXU1AQI8.
And what does the ITV / ITV says about it?
Is there a way to find why a device doesn't get an OTA?
Have you tried installing smart switch Samsung app on PC?
That app has an option to update firmware also.

First ITV is the active CSC. Second ITV is the CSC configuration of your SIM card. Since your phone is running OXM firmware which is multi-CSC & includes ITV, when you put your SIM card in it changed to ITV/ITV/BRI.
My phone is originally XEU which is also originally OXM multi-CSC. But I'm on Tmobile USA & the OXM fw does not have TMB CSC. So when my phone was stock it stayed as XEU/XEU/XEU, worked fine but I did not have any Tmobile USA features then.
Check out the following thread, it explains. Not sure if the info is accurate but it makes sense. Says OTA update does depend on carrier so it's your ITV CSC that is preventing OTA update. If you were on a firmware that does not include ITV CSC then OTA would work since your ITV carrier is not allowing it on your phone for whatever reason. But ITV does have all the latest updates so not sure why you are not getting them.
It doesn't really make sense but I say makes sense cause that is consistent with my experience since my phone was getting OTA updates fine when it was XEU/XEU/XEU. Doesn't matter now as I'm rooted so OTA don't work anymore & I'm running TMO CSC. Again not sure if the info is accurate in the thread but check it out.

To me everything is still confusing: if my fw is "multi csc" (and it contains ITV) why it doesn't get the OTA? Who is blocking them?
My network carrier? Samsung? Who esle?
To me, a "multi csc" fw sounds like a "multi region dvd" that works in several regions, and not the other way around.
Anyhow, is there a way to get my phone into a state where i get regular OTA updates without tripping knox or anything like that?
What do i have to do?

I was in the same situation. Think I ended up with a grey import.
I found and then applied using Odin an unlocked Samsung ROM for the UK (Service provider Software now says XEU,XEU/XEU,XSG).
Since applied I've had one OTA update.
So yes, it might be worth looking into this approach for yourself.

I've already downloaded the firmware, but I'm a bit worried about it..
Why did u flash an UK rom?
All I can say is it worked for me.
I was stuck with a security patch from Feb 19, it's now Oct 19 with whatever feature updates Samsung added.

Yeah but, before using Odin, your phone's firmare was for the UK? Or did u decide to install a different region firmware?
The phones origional region code was XSG, It did come to me with XEU,XEU/XEU,XSG as the region code. Provider is SAOMC.
I wonder if my problem was a baseband / firmware mismatch.
But I really don't know.

I understand, so you use your note 9 in the uk, this is why u flashed an UK Rom.
Yes, sorry, I'm in the UK.
If you go to the software information / service provider software version and look at the right most three character code on the third line of information in that section, you should get the origional country code.
But you have a very recent firmware & security patch, unless somethings not working I'd leave it for now.

It's very likely my note was sold and previously used in the UK.

It's very likely my note was sold and previously used in the UK, therefore its firmware was for the UK (XEW).
It might have been IMEI blacklisted in the UK and then sold here, in Romania.. that's why I was thinking about the possibility of bricking it, due to its status - Imei blacklisted.

Iis service work? I mean network calls etc? Here if some imei on blacklist, you cant use for calls msg and other services from carrier...
I think if you have now firmware for UK, just download last one with samfirwm and flash with odin.
3-4 months, my sister have problem with j7 pro, it updated to andoird 9, but phone says last version is android 7(not even android 8)...so we just download firmware and flash trough odin...all is fine now
I flash pretty much all software updates now as it's clear Samsung isn't going to update on time. Based on my experience as long as you have an OXM Model and use HOME_CSC it shouldn't matter and your product code won't change.
I have a similar situation with a N960U. Wouldn't get software updates, was originally an AT&T phone. Flashed with a carrier unlocked firmware (TFW, in the states) & now it's a N960U1, & gets all updates.
Also has allowed me to use a CDMA network, because it just gets better service where I live (as opposed to GSM, as it was from purchase date) & effectively debloated it as well. Already enough samsung bloat, the AT&T bloat on top was just too much.
Hope this helps.

Flashing generic UK firmware from O2 - complete n00b request

Hi,
I'm in the UK; have an Xperia 1 II from O2. Bought outright and using my EE sim in the phone. I am investigating the possibility of flashing generic UK firmware (i.e. to match the firmware on the phones sold direct from Sony) so that EE wifi calling hopefully starts to work. Phone is unlocked.
I've never flashed a phone before and am trying to figure out how it works.
My understanding is:
1. can obtain firmware via Xperifirm
2. can flash that firmware using Flashtool
3. don't need to unlock bootloader to flash new firmware.
My questions are:
4. is it as simple as the above? Download my selected firmware and then flash using Flashtool?
5. is Flashtool a third party software? I see the Sony dev site also offers a flash tool called Emma. I have also seen references to a separate Newflasher and the need for an fsc script
6. how do I confirm which firmware is which? I presume I would be looking to use the 'Customized UK' firmware listed in Xperifirm, CDA 1321-7192 / 58.0.A.3.31 / R8A.
Thanks, appreciate any info.
Cheers,
Michael
I posted how I did it here and in this simpler guide here.
Your understandings are correct. FlashTool includes XperiFirm.
4. Yes, though you will have to do a couple of additional steps because the FlashTool devices database has not been updated with the .fsc for the phone yet.
5. Yes, FlashTool is 3rd party software and allows you to change Customization. Emma is only for unlocked bootloaders from what I remember. You will need to also download the .fsc and .properties files I provided and rename the .fsc file.
6. Yes, 'Customized UK' from XperiFirm is what you want.
On Windows you will need to install the Flashmode and Fastboot drivers in the Flashtool\drivers directory to communicate with your phone. Follow the instructions here as you need to start Windows with driver signature enforcement disabled to do this.
Once you have that all set up, downloaded the firmware and FlashTool has processed the downloaded firmware, you will be ready to flash. Click Flash and choose Flash Mode, then set it up as in my first link - this will wipe all data on the phone.
When flashing, an error of "those files are not in the fsc script: persist, reset-non-secure-adb" is entirely normal. When flashing has finished successfully it will say "synced".
Thanks heaps - I'll have a go.
O2 advised me the phone is unbranded and unlocked as if bought direct from Sony is this incorrect ??

I have bought mine on o2 also and will be using on three uk .. apart from wifi ifoes everything else function OK without o2 sim ?
To be honest I'm torn between cancelling o2 as they told me the phone was unlocked and unbranded and getting a s20 plus
Thanks in advance Mike
Hi,
It has an O2 app preinstalled. No branding or startup stuff. Everything is fine except no WiFi calling visible for EE, which I expected. I did talk to O2 a bit beforehand and they said the firmware would be specific but nothing else. It is unlocked, my EE SIM is working fine aside from WiFi calling as above.

I doubt you will get VoLTE/4G calling working on EE or 3 with the O2 firmware either. (At least it didn't work for me with a Vodafone SIM). To me VoLTE is much more important than WiFi calling as without VoLTE you cannot make a phone call on 4G and instead have to also have a connection to a 3G or 2G network to make a call.
Flashing the Customized UK firmware should fix this.

Yes exactly. WiFi calling not working on EE out of the box. Just need to take the time and get brave enough to do it!
Did you flash your Xperia 1ii? I have the same, O2 phone with EE sim , no wifi calling but everything else OK. I though it was working before the last Sony update but maybe it wasn't. I notice the mobile signal shows LTE but when I put an O2 sim in it says 4G. I didn't realise it was a firmware issue so looking at doing this. I need wifi calling at the back of my house as the mobile signal is very weak.

Hi, yes I did using this wonderful thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-1-II/how-to/successfully-flashed-customization-t4119707
Read it first as there can be some scary moments depending on which usb-c cable you use to connect the phone to the pc (don't use the Sony one) but it all works if you follow the instructions and I now have WiFi calling over EE.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot over the weekend.
As an aside, if you got it from O2, did you get your 'free' headphones?

I'm in same situation. Can you please confirm that you can change the mobile bands.
Ie. You can select it to change the preferred network type?
Like in pic below?

I managed to flash to stock UK and now have Wi-Fi calling on EE - but - I have lost the ability to edit the APN. When I hotspot some apps get confused with IPv6 so I delete that from the EE APN but cant do it now I have flashed. Also lost LTE option. Just generic 5G/4G/3G/2G. Can you edit your APN and do you have LTE?
As for the headphones, good for you - still waiting for mine

After flashing from O2 firmware to stock UK firmware I only have the one option of 5G/4G/3G/2G
Noob question but does flashing the firmware impact using NFC payments and Google pay?
Also does anyone know if/have experience of, the Hong Kong version (dual SIM), being able to use VOLTE/WiFi calling here in the UK? I need a dual SIM phone ideally but I read somewhere that flashing the dual SIM with a UK firmware will disable the second sim slot (which makes sense to me).
Thank you!
LTE is 4G isn't it. Does O2 just put LTE in their firmware rather than 4G?
