So as the title says, my note has never lasted a full day on a full charge. Even with moderate use, it lasts maybe 15-16 hours. With heavy use, playing a game or 2 or using the browser, it lasts maybe 9 hours. From the first day I got it I've rooted it and have used only the romow rom.
Currently on the version 7.5 HD.
BB: LA4
Kernal: AbyssNote 3.3
Each time I flash a new rom I always do a battery calibration test and even wipe the battery stats on recovery.
I notice people get a full day's use from the battery and maybe even more. Is there something I am missing? My wi-fi is always off unless I am at home or when needed. I turn the data connection off too most of the times. When I look at the battery usage in settings (I do this often), the display shows the most usage, always more than 65%, and nothing else. The android system, android OS, cell standby and whatever else are always less than 10%. Is there something I can do to increase the time the battery lasts? I'd like to get a full day's worth, and even more
Use black backgrounds and dark apps? Amoleds don't use power to display black. Whites will suck your battery dry.

Recently i visited a samsung service centre. I asked the engineer as what kind of problems people have reported in the note other than screen issues and he said battery issues and people ve got their batteries replaced. Maybe u want to get urs checked.

I would also suggest get your battery checked. But more than likely, Samsung will say 15-16 hours of moderate use is normal.
I am currently using Rocket ROM v20 with Abyss 3.5b. I have had it without charge for 12 hours now and from 100% it is at 82% right now. So far today I have watch an ep of anime (22mins long), gaming for 1.5 hours, had 4 phone calls (total of 42 mins). I think only draining 18% after all of that is impressive.

That is impressive. If I watch a 40 min show only, my battery would go down from 100% to 65. And if I play a game for an hour (depends on the cpu/ram usage the game takes up to), then my battery is at 20%. And this has been since the beginning. The moderate use I am talking about is calls here and there, texting, playing a game for maybe 20 min. Like today I played Shadowgun for a total of an hour, where's my water for 20 min, and texted a bit, made 2 calls, and used dolphin browser for 10 min. It hasnt even been 12 hours and my battery is at 20%. Ahhh I think I just need to get a new battery.
I know roms/kernals/basebands all factor into battery usage as well, so are there any suggestions as to which one might be good with this? Aesthetically I love romow's rom. I love every layout of it. Rocket rom is a little too "in your face" kind of, atleast for me.
Im always set my brightness to 0% and im not using auto brightness. What if you change the kernel to FM 2.0 Kernel. i find it saves more batt than abyss kernel.

Time to get one of these: 4500mAh battery for Galaxy Note
Also try to use Go Launcher's task killer and low usage of 3G.

I actually like the "in your face" look, of course that is my preference. I heard that checkrom is good for battery but in all honesty, I have tried a couple of roms and there isn't a huge difference between them. The biggest difference with battery usage I have notice is when you start using a OCing app with profiles like SetCPU. Tweak the power usage with each speed step and create profiles for when the screen is off, on call and etc.

How hot does it get compared to room temp? 15C warmer? 20C warmer?
I'd really love to work with some people to come up with a step by step guide on how to track down and fix battery drain / over heat problems.
The best way to waste power is to make heat with radio chip and GPU. Second best is to make light with torch or screen.
I know with the change in battery technology, some old practice no longer applies but I still follow the old rule of thumb when I get a new equipment.
When I got my Note, the very first thing I did was charge the phone for 12 hours before actually using it. You might want to give that a shot, the reading on the battery may not always be correct.

may i know which governor are you using? try to update the AbyssNote kernel to latest v3.5c and try either the AbyssPlug, lulzactive or SmartassV2 governor then see if there's any difference
Running stock LA4 ROM here. Brightness usually on lowest. If you don't touch the phone, it can last on standby a week. See below how it only lost 3% after 17 hours. Of course as the screen was off all the time, the internal processes take most of the power consumed.
After more than 1 day I still have 50% battery. See how it drops fast when I'm using the phone to read and download web pages.
I have the self same issue - battery hardly lasts a day - I just about manage to get home 8 hours later on critical - to hook it up to mains to charge.
All I use it during the course of the day - is browsing forums via tapatalk, viewing the occasional email. No hectic media consumption and music playing.
I am trying a different route now - it was running on stock firmware - over the weekend I've taken the following steps.
Rooted my device , installed CheckRom Revo v5 , running speedmod kernel with modem LA4
Hoping to see how that improves things.

First of all, you should post a screen shot of your battery graph.
How bright is your screen? If it's at 100%, then you're going to chew through battery very fast.
Games that require very high cpu usage will kill the battery.
Some games I can play forever on - some games, like Plants vs zombies, or puzzle quest 2, kill the battery. I can probably get 3-4 hours worth on a battery, and that's with a very low screen brightness. That's the price to pay with a fast cpu.
Dolphin is quite the battery hog too. I try to avoid it - I browse for hours with opera mobile, especially with the green on black mod.

I use the ondemand governor usually with overclocked to 1600. The only profile I have set is the temperature over-heat (temperature above 104 F, 40.3 C) and i've set it to conservative with max cpu to 1200. What should I set the screen off and in call frequency to be? I have just updated to AbyssNote 3.5 and changed the governor to AbyssPlug. Lets see how it pans out tm
My voltage settings are:
1704 MHz - 1375

Whats the best app for battery statistics? I will get the graph and post a screenshot tm. My brightness is usually 50 % set in the middle always. Today I put my brightness all the way down to 0, I literally did not use my phone, maybe turned it on couple times during the day for 2 min, sent 1 text, played a game for 5 min, and used a medical application for 10 min, just to check the battery. With that much minimal amount of phone usage, after about 9 hours my battery was at 79%. Is that normal?
Just wanted to say thanks for the help also
it should make a difference. for battery monitoring, I'm using Battery Monitor widget. you may give it a try.

Install better battery stats and check for kernel wakelocks. If there exists some that last longer than 10 mins then some app is involved in the battery leak
I've noticed that when the battery gets below 35%, many games start lagging. I couldn't figure out what was causing this so I had a hunch that the OS is forcing the cpu to under clock even under heavy use to conserve battery. I installed setcpu and forced the cpu to max and sure enough, the games were playing smooth and home screen transitions were smooth. I did this a few times just to confirm. So is this true? Does the stock OS force the cpu to under clock even under heavy use when the battery is low?
And just to clarify, I'm not talking about cpu throttling. I understand android devices throttle the cpu based on use.

setCPU?
It does exactly that. Make a profile for Battery < 35 and set it to your clock speed.

Hello all!
When I use my Z3C and doing nothing, I mean... just having the phone in my hand, slide between homescreen pages juste for... you know... when you have this sexy lady in your hand... just for looking
But even if I do almost nothing with it, I feel the back hot and my battery apps tell me that the battery is more than 40 degrees. Just for better results I downloaded the app "CPU temp" or "CPU-Z" and it tells me that the CPU is at 45 degrees.
And when I play games the back is more hot!
I just want to know if it's normal? If your Z3C is hot too. I know if I play it's hot but if 40 degrees just for using it with normal apps (Twitter etc...) it's normal?
Can you make some quick test, download CPU-Z and check the "thermal" tab for example or what you want?
For more simplicity in the thread, if you want and if you can, download the app CPU-Z and post the result of "thermal" tab here (just the first line temp), thanks!
And I even see videos of AnTuTu benchmarks on YouTube and the Z3C is at 47xxx... but my Z3C is always between 43xxx - 44xxx ... I don't know if it's the same problem. What scores have you in AnTuTu?
thank you all!
(My phone is STOCK and completly clean, just hard reset before test temp)
my phone is always on 50+ celsius but i think it's normal. it happen on LG G3 too
After about 15 minutes of gaming, my sensor says 40.0 c., but I also have my CPU downclocked by a lot to extend battery life by huge margins. Stock setting puts the CPU frequency at 2.5ghz, and I have mine downclocked to 1.0ghz since I didn't see direct impact on performance with the games I'm playing (mostly emulators or GPU-dependent games).
tsens_tz_sensor0 is the highest at 40.0 c
msm_therm is the lowest at 32.0 c
At stock settings though, my phone runs at 50.0c on average, and it heats up about as much as my Galaxy Note 3 when they're playing the same games. For awhile, I thought the Z3c just heated up more than other phones, but after playing with both phones at relatively the same time, I realize that's pretty much just in my head.
Oh, forgot to mention. Also running on stock 5.1.1 that's rooted, debloated, xposed with greenify and amplify, and a custom Luxx profile to manage adaptive brightness.
Is there anything I can do on a new galaxy note 4 to prevent the emmc issue happening in the first place?
There was some talk about preventing overheating?

It might help to lower the CPU speed, but you need access to root and an app to tweak the values.
Avoid gaming which is very demanding on GPU and avoid gaming for long periods of time.
Search also in the Snapdragon forum a good kernel.
Also turn off the fast charging, this can heat too much the phone.
I created a script here. It works very good, it monitors the battery temperature AND all the CPU cores temperatures, and will automatically throttle the phone if temps are too high. You can even kill some apps if the temps are to high (not yet implemented).
The difference with Samsung DVFS or integrated temperature management of kernels is that this one monitors almost all CPU sensors and also the battery, all in complete combination, and it can be easily tweaked (rather than modding a kernel). No battery hog. You can enable USB fast charge, game, etc it will still prevent overheating.
Here is the solution to eMMC error
Hello everyone, I was pretty tired of the eMMC error, and I created a script that completely annihilate this error. This error is due to the phone heating up, and the fact that custom kernels (maybe even the original kernel) don't read the...
