This happened when using high ISO setting in camera usually ISO 800 under indoor condition. The image produce is flickering as the attachment. This happened since on GB to ICS and still going on. Double check with several unit note, SG2 and the worse SG3 still the same. The SG3 is even flicker in video, worst than this.
I really curious is this have been discuss or not yet.....:good:

do not set the ISO setting to a higher value. the higher the ISO value the more noise it will have.

No this definitely does not seem to happen with my devices.. ISO is just for low light shooting.. High ISO should not introduce flicker! Just curious are you shooting under some kind of fluorescent bulb..
Seems to be more of a lighting issue as mentioned above?
This is a Hz differences between country. It happens with most DSLR'S on market today , but they have a setting to correct such issues .

He's not taking the photo of a TV/Computer screen etc. If that was the case then Hz difference is the answer. But just plain paper and flicker like this? Something fishy

I agree it doesn't seem to be the answer, But I'm not smart enough to offer any other solutions, Lighting is my only thought but I guess this has prob been tested in various settings..

I say it's due to the fluorescent light source...
What's the shutter speed?
When you raise ISO, you have indirectly reduce the shutter speed till its 'fast' enough to capture the flicker of the fluorescent.
ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed... the 3 key variables that relate to one another.

wow seem everyone is ok except me having this kind of problem
Either it's hardware problem or your camera.apk. Try re-flashing it.
I also have same problem, but I did not notice with iso settings on auto, so just leave iso on auto and it is ok.
This was also cannot be fixed in latest LSZ. The auto setting works fine but not with custom ISO

It's all subjective. You will want -1 Sharpness however the +1 Contrast looks wrong to me and isn't necessary

The camera has really natural colours. Bumping up the contrast takes away detail and makes the colours less natural

ok thanks but one thing tho htc pics looks bit less saturated
It's not undersaturated. It's the actual color of the scene. We're just used to oversaturation in just about everything we have
Contrast -1
Saturation and Sharpness +1
Wow, I would avoid that particular combination. Those seem almost the opposite of settings commonly suggested around here. Can you post any sample pictures made with those settings?

Tbh, I've taken some fantastic pictures without adjusting any settings at all, the key is what you focus on for me, under and overexposed are easy to achieve if you focus where you want to focus lol

I agree the post from MacHeadz.
When you think your camera settings are good and the pictures looking well, others could think the opposite.
So all of these settings are subjective.
The best thing is trying out which settings are perfect for you.

Howdy! I've got this phone for 3 days now. One of the main reasons to choose this one, is the camera. It should give stunning pictures, right? Wrong.
I can't for the love of me get even one good picture. Each and every one is either out of focus, distorted in some way, or it looks like there's not enough light (even when the picture is taken outside).
I started out with the automatic mode. What I dislike there, is that it never chooses the max. resolution. Manual mode, I can't get it to make good pictures either; though that might be because of lack of expertise.
Is my device broken? Am I doing something wrong? Help would be appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. I'm currently on the newest firmware. I'm running RomAur v3.2. I had the same problem on a different modified stock ROM of the latest firmware build.
I only know for good light condition, you set the ISO to as low as possible and 20mp manual and need a pair of steady hands. I still havent figure out low light condition, some ppl suggest twilight mode.
1. manual mode. the automode is bull****
2. fullsize. you can resize after the shooting^^
3. let the iso as low as possible. remember that the image becomes a little brighter than in the preview. use flash if its dark
i dont have any problems with the camera, even if taking pictures of moving obejcts in dark conditions. just stop shaking your hands and geht the iso lower^^

This is with bad lighting (Sun was shining at the cam), a view from my window. Is this the quality I should expect from this phonecam?
Inside, it's never sharp. There simply seems to be too little light to make sharp pictures. The flash does nearly nothing. The low ISO setting makes it lag very much as well, reducing the screen fps to 3 or something like that. I guess it's difficult for the device to keep up.

there are two apps much better than FV-5
1) Pro Capture: More details. Sharper pictures. aiding grid to get great shots. (but you can't manage ISO level and the max resolution is 8MPX)
2) Camera Zoom FX: Faster focus. More MPX option (18MPX resolution is available)

Then my device is broken. I tested a few shots next to a Galaxy Note 3, and it made much (MUCH) better pictures than my Z1. Tried all kinds of settings, no way to make it right. So mine must be ****. I'm getting it exchanged because of a lazy pixel anyway, but I'm really disappointed in Sony here. I thought they made quality products. :x

Mmm, can you explain me better auto mode? Do you selected a scene? Do you select single focus point or multi point?
Metering? (Can you explain this)
HDR or image stabilizer?
Do you use the hardware button to take pictures or the software one? I noticed that using the hw one after you press focus and then more to shoot produce a little movement that can make your photo bad. Am I the only one that find the camera button too hard?
Thanks a lot!!!!

If you change the frame to 4:3 you will shoot pic with 12mpx, if you change 16:9 you will shoot pic with 9 mpix, and if you change to 18:9 you will shoot with 8mpix, this answer your question.
Or, just use moded gcam, you have root, you can manualy set everything.

Yes, you explained the changing of the frame. But I have no control over the resolution.
I do not know why is so difficult for understanding.
As far as i know the device is equipped with 20mp camera. We should be able to shoot 20mp,16mp,14.....photos.
But probably the software is not adopted to do that...

Main camera senzor on A2 is 12mpix, 20 mpix senzor is only for low light. I understand what you are saying, you cant select manualy wanted resolution or how much pixels you want, with frame changing you wil lower the mpix, but not the resolution.
My sugestion is to try gcam, its far better in every aspect, stock camera app is not that good and it have poor settings.

I don't think they are oversharpened because sharpness was set by default. They are taken with AGC 8.4.300. And upscaling indeed improves clarity and detail a little bit.

Upscale does not improve picture quality. It just let's you zoom further.
Only thing you get is too big images and file size.

If you want a sharper pics you can play with sharpness and sabre. And don't forget to enable upscaling to 1.6x-2x. It increases the file size but detail a bit too.
