S9/S9+ To Note 8 Secure Folder With Fingerprint+ Option - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Themes, Apps, and Mods

There's a feature within Secure Folder on the Galaxy S9 devices called Fingerprint+ and this feature allows the user to unlock their device directly into Secure Folder. I've previously posted a question in the S9/S9+ Forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/help/s9-s9-secure-folder-fingerprint-option-t3806846
Has anyone been able to port this app from the S9 and has been able to use it on the Note 8?
Below is what the feature looks like and a video on how to access it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geLWAZxviKg

This would be a nice feature.

I doubt even trying to port it would mean much. Since porting it would mean to incorporate into a custom ROM and being able to flash custom ROMs means custom recovery, which means Knox gets tripped, which means Secure Folder won't even work in the first place.

This feature has already been available on the stock OS straight off the bat.

I can unlock the Secure Folder on my N950N using either my Iris, Fingerprint or a password and I am using the Stock Samsung Oreo 8.0.0 OS.

This is true. I dont want to sound hostile, but have you read what this thread is about?
You can use the sec folder with either iris, fingerprints etc but there is no option to unlock the phone directly from the lockscreen to secure folder with custom fingerprints.
Maybe there will be in a future update, since its not possible to port this in a custom rom (root breaks knox, knox breaks secure folder).

Note 8 trip knox

I just brought an Galaxy note 8 N950F/DS yesterday. After I reboot the device, it shows a lock image. I can factory reset nornally, enter to the bootloader, and the knox trip to 0x1. I dont know the figure lock when I reboot the device mention what ?
Another question is that can I start to root my device and start to use SS Pay ? Because My knox is 0x1 already so I think I can root it to install some xposed module and use magic tricks to use SS Pay.
Thank you so much.
Samsung pay, as far as I know, will not work on rooted devices
Sorry bud but Samsung pay (and secure folder) depends on knox flag being 0x0.
Once it's at 0x1 there is no going back!
But you can use google pay with magisk hide root.

I read in hmthe xda said that I still use the ss pay with rooted devices if I use magic or SU hide to hide root under the ss pay.

Nope. Samsung Pay doesn't check for root or even an unlocked bootloader (which is what that lock icon on startup indicates). You could re-lock the bootloader and flash a complete stock rom and Samsung Pay will not work due to Knox being tripped.
There is no way to reset the Knox counter back to 0x0, which means there's no way to get Samsung Pay working on your device. Android Pay, yes - Samsung Pay, no.

I read it on this post : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-how-to-root-note8-efs-backup-t3677038
And it is said that I still use the Samsung Pay and Secure Folder.
- As of now you will lose Samsung Pay and Secure folder forever if you root once, even unrooting won't help. (hope in future we can get it working on tripped knox device). Also you may not able to run some banking apps, but for that there are some workaround like Magisk Hide or SU hide, google it.

I don't know if it is still work or not. I need to wait 7 days to unlock the OEM for test. Hope it can work
And about the Lock Icon after I reboot it, I think the reason is I set the secure unlock ( require the PIN code after reboot device ) so the Icon appears. I remove that option and the Lock Icon is gone. I don't know it is the reason or not ? Some people said I unlock bootloader and that icon appears.
The workaround is for banking apps - note it says you will lose Samsung Pay and secure folder FOREVER. Magisk or SU Hide cannot hide Knox, and as it says, even if you aren't rooted you won't get Samsung Pay back. It's been this way since Samsung Pay was released, so don't expect a workaround for that anytime soon (if ever).

As for the lock icon, I misunderstood. If the bootloader is unlocked I believe you'll see a small white lock under the "Samsung Galaxy Note 8" logo on startup. If you enter a pattern / PIN before seeing an unlock icon, then yes, that is indeed secure startup.

Note 8 new user

Hello everybody
Back to android os after many years using note 8 (exynos)
Have many questions want answers
1-My battery sucks so does flashing a custom kernel will preserve the battery??
2-After flashing a custom firmware can i be back to official rom anytime and continue to recieve official updates anytime as i may need secure folder option which is only found on official roms
3-any recommendation for a rom that is stable or a note 9 port for exynos note 8??
Thanks in advance and sorry for the silly questions

Custom firmware only after root, which will trip knox and thus the end of secure folder (irreversible)...
Congrats! This dwvice is really good, about your batt, why do you say it is bad? How much SOT it is giving you? Average SOT around here is from 5 to 6 hrs, it depends on how many apps you have, and which ones are those, facebook is famous for beeing a batt hog , there are some threads about this, now about flashing some kernel, I think that would help, but regarding the secure folder, once you root, or flash any custom firmware, you will trip knox, and samsung pay and secure folder will be gone FOREVER, there is no going back, no way to revert the knox 0x1 to original 0x0, so, think about it carefully, if secure folder is really important for you, you can only flash official unmodified firmwares, besides, if you trip knox, SHealth will stop working too, although there is a patch to make it work

You will get OTA when you flash an official firmware, some buddies report that it must be a firmware intended for the country where you use the device, and in some cases a specific firmware for the carrier that issued the sim card installed, but some others get OTA with only the firmware beeing official, I think it is carrier related, you will get OTA, just choose the firmware for your specific conutry and carrier to be sure, and if you tripped. Knox, no, no secure folder and samsung pay

I really would not know, I bought my note 8 in october 2017, since then I installed bk disabler pro, to avoid updates,, and I did not have intentions to root, so, I am running stock 7.1.1, for me it was more important to control running services and disabling unwanted apps, I heard rummos back then that samsung was blocking bk disabler with the updates, so I blocked OTA, my device runs very fine this way

(Guide) Work Profile Alternative for Rooted/Knox Tripped

Does your workplace have a BYOD policy that enforces full device encryption?
Have you already unlocked your bootloader and rooted your device, thus tripping Samsung Knox?
Have you tried to use Android Work Profile only to find out that "Your custom OS" does not allow it even if you reverted to stock and unrooted? (I know, right?)
Here is the solution...
Steps
Unlock Bootloader and Install TWRP.
(Thanks dr.ketan and geiti94)
Install the Dev-Base ROM and force Encryption by using the Dev-base ROM file name tags/triggers. (Thanks _alexndr)
Upon booting for the first time, setup pin with the checkbox for booting with pin protection. (This is full device Encryption).
Reboot
Enable Multi User (Samsung has disabled this by default)
arpanbag1996 said:
Enable multi-user feature on your Android one phone (running Android 5.1 Lollipop) without flashing .zip through custom recovery. All you need is root access.
Just go to /system , edit your "build.prop" file and add the following lines:
fw.max_users=3
fw.show_multiuserui=1
Save and reboot your phone. Done! Tested on Micromax Canvas A1.

Add another user in settings>accounts.
Switch to second user and add your work account.
Make sure not to use any app that removes full device encryption. (Example: bxActions)
I've done this on my own device (SM-960F/DS) and it works great!
Let me know if anyone had success with any other ways to do this. I'm always open to suggestions.
Reserved for updates and alternatives
Thanks a lot for this guide! However, unless I'm missing something here, this method doesn't create an actual work profile, but a rather a seperate user on the device that's devoted just for the G Suite account (as adding my G Suite account on the sub user does not even prompt me to create a Work Profile). On my current device, ZTE Axon 7, where I can use work profile version and my personal gmail app side by side as if they are two separate apps, instead having to switch user account.
And of course, I can just add my G Suite account to my main user since I guess I'll trade a bit of my privacy from corporate IT for convenience sake. On the other hand I wonder if @_alexndr can consider enabling this feature in DevBase...
Or use an app like Nine (by 9Folders) that enforces Exchange Security at the app level and doesn't require the device to be secure.
Or you can use Exchained to bypass the policy entirely for Exchange based BYOD policies.

No, it is about Android Work profile.
Microsoft Itunes use Work profile
G Suite Idk use work profile
But All MDM use work profile since android 9 ( maybe 8)
This thread should be on every samsung device. Because the issue is caused by knox.
Would this work for my Samsung A70. Really looking for a answer.
I'm confused. So which option should I choose out of the above replies and OP's suggestion? I want to have my work account on my personal device. But my phone is rooted, Knox triggered.
"island" is the app you are looking for
Updated long back but still works pretty fine.
Try "island" from playstore
Not updated from quite long but will do the job.

I installed Island and its gives me "cannot create work profile" error. Tried to setup Island with root, and I got stage 1 error.
Remove knox
Knox uses the same method as island to create work profile. Try installation after removing Knox.
Is possible i use in n950f? i lost the work profile installing the rom deluxe, and i need to work.
Hey Guys, i also have a fresh rooted and with custom rom installed Samsung (S10e but i assume the model doesn't matter for this topic).
I also have a GSuite account from my company and don't get it managed to istalla work profile on my phone.
Just getting a error that i use an modified ROM and therefore a work profile cannot be installed.
I know such similar issues from my pixel 3 where i just use Magisk hide which unfortunately don't work on the Samsung.
Also tried exchained and Island app (cannot be installed) which also don't really work.
For me the app Island work!!! Really thanks i use deluxe Room in note 8.
But the add a icon in initial menu the icon os the same, dont haver a small bag BLUE in bottom

can you share how you did this? which MDM solution are you using?
Maybe he can fix the job profile just like patching the security folder, so that he can work on the device that Knox tripped over! There will always be incompatibility when setting the island!

Revert to Oreo from Pie

Hi!
Can anyone tell me what do I need to downgrade from Android 9 to Android 8 without rooting my Note 8?
I have Odin 3.13.1, also I found original firmware on Samsmobile - PDA N950FXXS5CRK4 and CSC N950FMSR5CRHA
Currently installed is N950FXXU5DSC2
Do I need anything else?
Do I need first to do factory reset and then revert back to Oreo or it can be done straight away?
I don't like Pie because call recording doesn't work. I already knew that, but some users reported that it still working on their devices after Pie update, so I wanted to try myself.
Call recording is one of the features that I use every day and I need it, but I'm using Samsung pay, so I can't root my device.
Thanks!

You don't need anything else, I believe. The firmware you found will be able to downgrade to Oreo, so you're in luck.
Downgrading and going back to Oreo via Odin might potentially factory reset your device which includes formatting your internal storage. Just be aware of that and backup all your files and important stuff.
Yes, I know that internal storage can be formatted
I asked just to check myself, because I didn't do anything for years, since I had Note 1 [emoji16]
Thanks!

Please tell me.
Have you downgraded from PIE to Oreo. I'm also interested to downgraded from PIE to Oreo due to below mention reason.
After updating to PIE, i'm note able to use hybrid sim slot on my Galaxy Note 8. When i insert hybrid in Galaxy note 8 Pie, POPUP appears says sim card tray slot problem, but phone has read both behind and memory card. Pop does not get disable and stuck on the screen. Forcefully i need to remove the slot and reverse back to 1 sim and MC
I downgrade to this version n950fxxs5csb3 without problem, all working perfect and in this version dont have the update notification to pie
Just make sure to full wipe your device and use de csc file, not the home scs; by that way will make a full erase into the proces to device

Yes you can still root. Just make sure you know what you will lose by doing so, like Samsung pay and secure folder, will never ever get these back as it trips the Efuse (it would require a motherboard replacement to fix)
Thanks for the advice. I really want the phone recording capability back that got disabled with the Pie update. You wouldn't happen to know of a workaround to make phone recording work again on Android 9?

If you're going to root and have to factory reset your device anyway, you might as well flash a custom ROM. I would recommend Dr. Ketan's ROM. It's pretty good with very little to no problems, and has call recording added by default and enabled.

Depends on the custom rom
If it is a note rom, then all spen features are still intact
If it's a s9 rom for example, then not.

It does work,tried it,used INS.
Only thing was there was no 'choice' to do a recording.
You either have to record all or just certain numbers.
There was no 'start' recording button,at least not in the rom I used,stock/standard default UK rom.
May be it is different feature if flash different rom or different csc like THL maybe?
Also inserting and booting with a sim that has call recording feature,INS-India,THL-Thailand works.
Basically does the same as the link.
I also flashed oreo but couldn't stop the update nag so just let it update back to pie.

Despite what Reaper1337 said, all ROMs are based on the stock Note 8 firmware, which means all the included SPen functions and features are intact and working. You can't flash S9 ROMs to the Note 8 and I'm not aware of any ROMs that were directly ported from the S9, thereby removing SPen features. All ROMs that are "S9 ports" just bring certain apps and things from the S9 over while still keeping the base Note 8 features intact.
In short: all ROMs will work like the stock firmware, with the exception of the one project which's name I forgot that's essentially stock Android. But it's incompletely and terribly unstable and buggy, so I wouldn't suggest that anyway.

I hope someone will figure out why this worked and maybe do a topic on how to get it to work again after stable Android Q releases.
I can't get my hopes up but I also want Samsung Pass to work.
Alpha, and beta releases are signed by test-keys, which is actually public, means anyone can sign apks & push them to system, basically, you can fool samsung apps so they think your device is still with knox 0x0, which will get them to work fine.
In release keys, manufacture signs their APKs with set of keys they only have access to, which will be hard to fool.
