on oreo it may be lagging bt i am on the last nougat 4.5.1 and all the games u mentioned runs smoothly for me so if u want better gaming performance and battery life then better downgrade to nougat for now

lack of optimization and not using of latest resources by one plus in my opinion. oreo will get better later so for now gamers should stay on nougat
No lag on OS 5.0.3

Well, i don't feel any lag on latest Oreo ie. 5.0.3
All heavy games Like MC5, PUBG & Ashphalt 8 too running very smoothly...
After flashing so many custom roms, I've returned to latest stock, & I feel its too OP.
Would suggest u too flash latest stock OS.
Check ur Ping too for every games u r playing

No..happy with returning to stock...
Not even Rooted this time.
An update guyz,
I tried vertex nougat rom in which ui was smooth af but gaming was not as smooth, then I switched to sultan lineage, and the games i mentioned ran smoothly.
may be the cpu driver made by him works well with 3d titles.
Skydragon + mcd kernel works well in my case
No throttling at all
No fps drop too in pubg
Totally lag free gaming

So beyond updating to the latest 4.4 roms theres not alot i or anyone can do.
For gaming im recommending the p880-dev kernel, seems to pull the highest 3D scores in antutu at the lowest frequencies.
Games will continue to get more demanding, while our phones performance is not going to receive proportional performance increases. Any gaming platform will have this issue.
and no, an sdcard will not improve performance, rather will possibly load the game faster
got it then.....
tnx

Yip thats the one.
but not all of them, just the ones based on p880-dev sources (so not cm official and a few others)
I use automate it pro to set gpu at 600mhz and goveror to performance when opening a game and everything is perfectly smooth
Not for me... For some reason cm official is much more smoother for me

U will not get 4 - 5 hours for mi 5 rom, im already try many cust rom for gaming ... Its depend on situation .... Higher graphic will consume more battery .. And also for online games ... Network will consume too... So u will not get 4 hours or more with 3000 mah battery for gaming

Ok thanks
Better Gaming does not goes in hand with Battery life
Anyways, speaking in performance terms only, none of the Oreo roms atm since they are a bit slower than Nougat roms for some reason, probably aospa is good for gaming
Stay clear of oreo roms. Los nougat is the oly decent one for gaming. I don't know if any other nougat roms get you better performance but oreo roms definitely don't
i have tried many roms,, but for mi5 (mine is prime 3/32), i use viper os nougat + soda kernel b1.2.1 or you can use RR nougat too with soda b1.2.1 too,, it can handle many games.
Hey guys, I have been playing PUBG mobile for about 2 months now on stock, rooted OOS stable.
I have had the phone heating up after 1 game that it becomes uncomfortable to hold. I play with my case off to improve heat dissipation. I tried lowering clock speeds to about 1.8GHz to reduce heating, but it didn't help.
Also, I notice significant lag and frame drops in my third consecutive game, possibly due to thermal throttling. I never play when I am charging my phone.
Fellow PUBG players, what do you guys do? Do you use a different ROM/kernel? Do you adjust settings Within the game?
Thanks in advance.

I hate the thermal throttling that occurs on this phone. I used to use GFX Tool to reduce the graphics settings for PUBG in order to prevent it, but even that isn't working now. The phone heats up like it's been put inside an oven, and I need to take off my TPU case for it to not overheat and shut off. Even Redmi Note 3's don't heat up as much or get throttled like this phone does. Simply irritating.

Same story here. It's incredibly sad that a flagship $400 phone struggles to play a game at medium graphics when a $200 phone doesn't. Superbly embarrassing.

I've given up on it at this point. I've tried out completely stock OOS, stock Lineage, heavily modified Lineage/RR/Omni and yeah nothing seems to work. I'm just sick and tired of this phone just after a year of owning it. This sucks.
i play pubg on my op3t omnidragon rom
i use pub gfx+ tools it reduce lag
the phone gets hot and the game lag when I'm in a room that has a hot temperature and it's summer
can someone agree that downgrading to nougat is better for gaming?
Phones are not suitable for gaming. End of story.
None of my phones were able to keep going without throttling significantly.
It's down to basic physics.
Well, OnePlus 3T is not optimized for PUBG. Or let's PUBG didn't optimize the game for older devices. If your device has Snapdragon 835 or 845 PUBG will run smoothly. Or if you have 6xx series chipsets that was released in 2018 they would run smoothly too. TBH PUBG will be better in a tablet than a phone. Get tab S3 or S4 or even latest iPad which is a lot cheaper can handle game flawlessly. But OnePlus 3T has become a old man now.

This is what I don't understand, our chipset is just barely 2.5 years old, and it is a flagship chipset. Why then do they ignore optimizing for a flagship?
i dont understand why you guys are babbling on. just revert back to nougat and see the difference . pubg runs super smooth with no overheating in nougat. Oxygen os oreo is not all that well optimised thats why games lag inoxygen os oreo. revert back to nougat and you will again see the true potential of our device
I agree. I'm running Sultans Lineage OS by denser and it runs great.

When temp rises just decrease the fps... ?

Anybody who switched to STABLE OOS PIE 9.0.2 can you please share your results for pubg gaming? (try using PUB GFX TOOL from play store/ xda and set it to 720p, SMOOTH, 30FPS AMD VULKAN).
Please anyone tell me that if i use microg instead of gapps .
Did i get a little boost in pubg mobile??
And also please tell me benefits of using gapps and microg please.
MicroG and Gapps are sets of Google applications.
Any Gapps has nothing to do with performance of game or the device. Gapps are of your choice which and how many Google applications you want in your device from MicroG/nano/pico/micro and so on further.
To have better or good performance you should be looking at the specific ROM and it's performance and how optimized it is for gaming or any other specific tasks.
You can opt out for custom kernel to have little more good performance at gaming.
There are several kernels are available choose the one best suit for your needs. There are kernels which are made for gaming/to have good battery backup/to have good performance or both. So choose wisely if you want to use custom kernel. You should be looking at custom kernel if the ROM provided kernel or the ROM itself doesn't meets your expectations.

Please tell me best rom and kernal for playing pubg.
Currently i am on havoc os .
So which kernel should i use.
I'm a heavy gamer and use my Redmi 4X mostly for games. I have SyberiaOS which is fantastic with games, no changes in kernel or ROM itself, just turned off some apps at boot. I flashed with nano Gapps but I use Google apps all the time so I installed almost all of them from the Play Store. I tried Pixel Experience for a few days and despite less RAM usage I couldn't get used to it, I missed some features and couldn't get as pleasant game experience as on Syberia ROM. I Play Guns od Boom which is also heavy on RAM almost the same as PUGB and got lag on PE.

After changing kernel to wolf kernel
Pubg gameplay becomes smooth
But device heats like hell.
I read the whole thread about Havoc-OS because I wanted to try it and found out that it may cause extensive heating that's why ultimately I didn't flash it. I've never experienced heating issues on 4X but of course it gets warmer when playing games or movies but not that much it should concern me (although that's subjective. My school mate drinks boiling water tea and it's nothing to her. ).
