an question about gapps and microg. - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

Please anyone tell me that if i use microg instead of gapps .
Did i get a little boost in pubg mobile??
And also please tell me benefits of using gapps and microg please.

MicroG and Gapps are sets of Google applications.
Any Gapps has nothing to do with performance of game or the device. Gapps are of your choice which and how many Google applications you want in your device from MicroG/nano/pico/micro and so on further.
To have better or good performance you should be looking at the specific ROM and it's performance and how optimized it is for gaming or any other specific tasks.
You can opt out for custom kernel to have little more good performance at gaming.
There are several kernels are available choose the one best suit for your needs. There are kernels which are made for gaming/to have good battery backup/to have good performance or both. So choose wisely if you want to use custom kernel. You should be looking at custom kernel if the ROM provided kernel or the ROM itself doesn't meets your expectations.

Please tell me best rom and kernal for playing pubg.
Currently i am on havoc os .
So which kernel should i use.

I'm a heavy gamer and use my Redmi 4X mostly for games. I have SyberiaOS which is fantastic with games, no changes in kernel or ROM itself, just turned off some apps at boot. I flashed with nano Gapps but I use Google apps all the time so I installed almost all of them from the Play Store. I tried Pixel Experience for a few days and despite less RAM usage I couldn't get used to it, I missed some features and couldn't get as pleasant game experience as on Syberia ROM. I Play Guns od Boom which is also heavy on RAM almost the same as PUGB and got lag on PE.

After changing kernel to wolf kernel
Pubg gameplay becomes smooth
But device heats like hell.

I read the whole thread about Havoc-OS because I wanted to try it and found out that it may cause extensive heating that's why ultimately I didn't flash it. I've never experienced heating issues on 4X but of course it gets warmer when playing games or movies but not that much it should concern me (although that's subjective. My school mate drinks boiling water tea and it's nothing to her. ).

N950F/FD Best ROM-Kernel Mix

Hey everyone, i wanna know what is your best mix. i tried lightrom, google edition rom, weta, dr.ketan, echoerom, for kernels; madmax, notorius, iron, smurf kernel and ael kernel
I am on WETA 8.0 with AEL kernel 2.7, stable performance, stable battery and 40Celcius cpu temp. I play games a lot on my phone and i am suffering a little bit of a lag. as far as i experienced smurf kernel was the best performance kernel but had some issues with it so cant use it atm
Anyone can share and discuss here.
Main question is How does your mix perform, what about sot, daily life usage.
Dr.Ketan is the best. I got his Pro Tweaks app also. Highly recommended!
im on lightrom s9+ port version, you can check the comments on that thread, i shared my sot and on time. madmax advanced kernel is very nice
So what do.you think is the best kernel batterywise and best rom since I hardly play games I usually watch YouTube or listen songs or chat and yea I takes notes alot.

Well, i don't feel any lag on latest Oreo ie. 5.0.3
All heavy games Like MC5, PUBG & Ashphalt 8 too running very smoothly...
After flashing so many custom roms, I've returned to latest stock, & I feel its too OP.
Would suggest u too flash latest stock OS.
Check ur Ping too for every games u r playing

An update guyz,
I tried vertex nougat rom in which ui was smooth af but gaming was not as smooth, then I switched to sultan lineage, and the games i mentioned ran smoothly.
may be the cpu driver made by him works well with 3d titles.
Skydragon + mcd kernel works well in my case
No throttling at all
No fps drop too in pubg
Totally lag free gaming

Suggest me a stable ROM for my Mi Mix 256gb gold edition

Hi,
Sorry for my english.
I'm having overheating issues after last MIUI update.
I can't play PUBG because of lags. My ping fluctuating a lot. My internet connection is fine.
I want to flash the best custom rom available to play PUBG smoothly.
Can anybody suggest me a good ROM & step by step guide to flash it?
Thanks in advance.
I am interested a bit in this myself. Personally I am running Pixel Experience 9.0 and it is very stable, only thing people report not working is hotspot and proximity sensor working if it feels like it - for me it was always like this though, I always talk on loud speaker anyway.
I do not game that much, the phone is a few generations old, so you'd be better of buying Poco F1, Mi 8 or 9 in my opinion if you want good performance.
Pie Crdroid works very good

Yes. I tried almost all ROMs. Gaming performance is still same.
Then I guess it is the phone poorly disposing of heat, quite well known issue for this model, ROMs won't fix hardware.
Anyway, back to main topic, I've daylied official Lineage 16.0 since it was released a couple weeks ago. Personally I am experiencing quite many bugs, like white notifications in dark mode and audio problems. YMMV, but personally I'll be going back to Pixel Experience once April update is up, as I was having zero problems with it.
Your English is fine. Try this ROM.

Expect that your Mix will not lag in any games but at the cost of overheating...

Overheat problem is the same on all phone and computer. It has (almost) nothing to do with the ROM. The main factor is the voltage. On all my PCs I undervolt CPU and fine tune the clock speed of GPU (so the core voltage also stay in the low range). It works the same on a phone. Check undervolting guide for phone.
When the phone overheat, it lower its clock speed and voltage to allow heat dissipation.
You might want to find a good cooling fan for you phone if you're gaming.
I recommend using kernel adiutor 0.9.11.1 available on apkmirror with root access to configure CPU frequency. I did this on lineageos 16.1 with my Xiaomi Mi Mix and it's working much better than ever. I configured the frequencies and thermal protection, also the governors for BIG and LITTLE cores.
Before doing that I had huge performance and heating problems.

Heat fix or anything for redmi 4x?

I live in hot city in india. I have been experiencing alot of heat lately in back where CPU is located. It's always 40c battery as well as CPU both stays on 40c. Please let me know if there is some tweak to reduce heat. I dont do much gaming. I use it for chatting and watching videos mostly surfing YT or surfing internet. it makes me paranoid whenever it gets heat up i m always forced to keep it aside till it gets cool down. I am requesting to any developers here to make a tweak or make a kernel for users like me as it will be soo helpful for many people who dont like to feel heat while surfing on net. Please do look into it.
Also do tell me if there is a good rom. I dont care about latest android version or latest security patch all i want is i should be able to chat or surf without feeling that heat in my hand because it just ruins everything for me.
I am using official LOS 15.1 and am satisfied with it from a heat perspective.
The only time I maybe encounter unusual heating is when the NSA is hacking my phone to spy on me. *joke* What I then usually do is just to shut down my phone and leave it off for a couple of minutes.
You should look to update your firmware to the latest available Global version.
It is otherwise a good idea to reinstall your phone. You never know if you picked up some malware through dodgy apps that is causing the problem or if some apps are just rubbish.
I Use Xiaomi EU
No issues of heating except if you Play games.

Hey. Peeps! Thanks for kind response. I read all your suggestions! I m using Lineage OS latest official build. I dont do gaming its battery efficient also it has quick charge support, on ampere app readings says 1800ma. I m thinking of using MIUI now, i have used EU rom and trust me Lineage OS is better in terms of battery backup. Crdroid, umm, thanks @mcjohn, i will try this.

I actually tried it.. Not bad , not good. Lineage OS is the best currently. I m thinking of trying out pixel experience rom, i have seen people claiming it has good battery backup.
Btw, dont ever use miui official rom. It sucks the battery so quickly. -_- I m currently on stable miui global rom and trust me it has worst battery backup.

I used the MIUI ROM when I bought the phone until I unlocked the boot charger. . . Then I install another ROM every month.
Or, maybe 2-3 ROMs per week !
Look at my pictures and see how the battery is consumed, how the phone heats up, or the settings that are missing from the menu.

[Discussion] Wich ROM are you using and why?

So one of the things that sold the idea of getting this phone was the existence of an active community and plenty of custom ROMs. So much that I don't have time to try them all.
So can you guys share your own experience, which is your favorite ROM and why?
I can share mine in the following:
From the past couple weeks I've been bouncing between a few and honestly they all were pretty smooth and everything that I needed worked, so basically I will only consider the things I like in them, such as looks and feels.
HavocOS(official)
Pros: the one with the most customizations, there is even this built in theme called Glassy/Transparent that I love, btw is there a similar theme in any other ROM?
Cons: battery life is reasonable but not as good as stock ROM. Sometimes my Bluetooth head set would connect but the audio would only come out from the phone speaker.
PixelExperience(official)
Pros: really deliver the Google pixel experience, smooth, stable, if you like Google you will like this.
Cons: doesn't offer too much in the customizations department but that's just imo, as one could argue that customizations are not the point here, anyway, battery can last a full day but still not as good as stock. Also I'm not sure if this is an confirmed bug or it was just on my end but my phone couldn't fast charge, for some reason it was only slow charging pretty weird.
Superior OS
Truth be told, I saw somewhere saying this ROM was really good, so I've installed but the looks and feels didn't catch my eye, so I didn't used for long, everything seems to work but I can't say how much the battery performs.
AEX 6.7(unofficial)
This is one in using now, is made by the same dev that made SuperiorOS, doesn't have as much customizations as Havoc but it has enough options to make the phone look like the way it pleases me, although I do miss the Transparent theme. As the others so far it's been smooth and stable, it does have things that I like very much such as a Pixel or Oreo recents style, a progress bar in the music notification, my Bluetooth head set worked flawlessly and so far the battery seems to be as good as stock ROM but I will need a couple more days to confirm that.
So please share your thoughts about the ROMs you already tried, have you had any problem with any of them? Is there any ROM that is a must try?
Great post thank you for for bringing it up. I only tried pixel experience and EU Rom. I liked how smooth PE was overall great rom but i have faced some bugs so i decided to try EU Rom. So far i'm happy with MIUI because it's easy to control and i use the appvault often to take quick notes.
ATOM OS
ATOM OS 10.
Open app fast, easy to flash, pin saver, and is android 10.
Sorry my English.
Syberia OS. Enough customization, a little less than Havoc.
Great Battery Life, installed Evira 4.5, Kernel settings: alucardsched and 100mhz for both core clusters. GPU Adreno Idler enabled .
Enjoy a great experience. Only bug for now is LTE Tile in Quicksettings doesnt seem to work for me, but it is no biggy though.
AOSiP pizza
Cuz its the only ROM which has "launch music player when headset or Bluetooth is connected" option even havoc and RR don't have this and it's super useful to me.
The latest build by smglat also comes with genom which gives 10hrs sot easily.
Also the boot animation is dope

The problem with that ROM is that you have to contact the developer directly to find out what Gapps/TWRP to use etc.

I'm also using Atom os, 8 hour SoT and a taste of android 10, with Bitgapps and Gcam. I found the firmware 10.3.6.0 to be the best base for 10, just needed to edit the updater-script
Nice, great suggestion guys, I will def gonna try Siberia OS and AOsip at some point in the future, I briefly tried Atom OS 10 last week but unfortunately it didn't support exFAT for the micro SD card so that's kind a deal breaker for me in any ROM.
So far things have been working in AEX and the battery life is good.

Xiaomi.eu MIUI 10.3.4 Stable + Evira Kernel 4.5 + Magisk
I was trying other roms like RR, Lineage and crDroid but they all had some bugs. I was finally testing Xiaomi.eu and it is my favorite because it is stable, debloated, has many optimizations and is updated frequently thanks to the large community behind. Also, I have debloated the rom more using XiaomiADBFastbootTools leaving a very simple and smooth rom.
With EviraKernel + Kernel Adiutor I get a great life in the battery using alucardshed or zzmoove governors, underclocking CPU and using Adreno Idler GPU + powersave.
Overclocking CPU (big cluster) up to 2.4ghz thanks to Evira Kernel helps me when I want to emulate things like Sega Saturn which run perfectly on the SD660.
With Magisk I rooted the mobile to be able to install Xposed modules and YouTube Vanced.
I think this combination of xiaomi.eu + evira kernel + magisk is the best I've tried in Redmi Note 7 to date.

Once you select a ROM and go to the download page look at the bottom, there is a changelog there.
I don't think the dev is on xda, even the SuperiorOS thread was created by another user, I was just looking at the dev's androidfilehost page when I saw that AEX had a pretty recent release and decided to try it out. So use it "As is".

well, i tried pixel exp for a while, it was great, but the proximity sensor bugging was annoying to me, so i decided to go with xiaomi.eu stable version. I really liked, i got used to miui interface and atm i think i prefer it over the stock android feel of pixelexp.
Tough i did try to install android 10 beta of pixel experience, but my phone got softbricked every time i tried to flash it so i gave up and decided to go tih xiaomi.eu weekly releases.
Also, the main reason i'll stay with xiaomi.eu is that they base their rom on Chinese stock, which comes directly from the phone vendor, which mean that it is quite less likely that the dev will just get tired of releasing regular updates and the rom get abandoned. I don't wanna get used to a OS only for it to not be supported anymore.. Not saying that it will happen on pixel, just that it is a fear of mine.

Official ResurrectionRemix 7.0.2 (20190705)
Minor bugs (Sometimes phone needs multiple tries to wake up), but no force closes, restarts or similar at all. Even the WhatsApp camera (And therefore WhatsApp Web) can be made to work by enabling and disabling HAL3 in "System > Advanced".
I'm using it for these reasons:
1) Stability. The dream of a daily driver that you can rely on in every circumstance. If I have no signal, I know it's not the ROM, if Hotspot doesn't connect, I know it's not the ROM, if I install an app that doesn't function, I know it's not the ROM. Very few bugs and unimportant ones at that.
2) Customisability. Resurrection Remix is still the gold standard.
3) Battery life. It's phantastic. There may be ROMs that are a tad better, but this RR is already great out of the box, no custom kernel needed.
I know the build is a bit older already, but I still recommend this particular one. It's the last build before another developer took over.

Apparently he is using this tool XiaomiADBFastbootTools
But I would argue that a much simpler process, if you have root, would be to just use a file explorer to navigate to these paths:
Code:
/system/app
and
Code:
/system/priv-app
And just delete the apps you don't want to keep, reboot after and it's done.

Using this "Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools"
Download from Github. I can't put the links because I am a new user
you need to have java installed on your computer to make it work.
I am using Unofficial Resurrection Remix 7.0.2 Latest version
As others already said very good rom that you can rely on a daily basis.
Very customizable, fast, no drain in battery.
For my use everything is working fine no bugs.
