What's the point of root? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Okay, I have rooted and loaded custom ROMs on every smart phone I have owned. I know have the note 8 and tried SamFail. If failed but I was able to get stock back. But as I consider trying SamFail again, I am looking around and not finding many/any ROMs for the snapdragon version. A few mods here and there but not much else. Those who have, why did you and if I am missing the ROMs where are they?

There is Fennec Rom, Culpeo Rom, and Chimera, and Twiztd rom for Snapdragon. Chimera and Twiztd have a TON of customizations viper, Dolby atmos, 3minit battery, rom control, duel speaker mod. Just go to Bluefox thread or Twiztd.

Stable ICS ROM that has Touchwiz?

My sister is a captivate user whose phone is having issues and getting sent in for repair. The warranty is nearly up, so I suggested she get a custom ROM afterward since it won't matter if she voids warranty, and there won't be an official ICS update.
That seems all fine and dandy, but here's the problem: She hates, and I mean HATES roms that are AOSP, and won't use anything that doesn't have Touchwiz. Strange, I know.
If there's a ROM out there that's just like the ICS that newer Samsung models got, that'd be perfect.
Also, she's not very technical, and has a lot of important stuff on her phone, so it has to be stable. For guys like us, routine backups are no problem, but she's just an average user.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm an Xperia user and have no clue about Samsung roms.

I came from Stock GB.
Im used to flashing and wiping with CWM to my hearts content on previous Android devices and have never had a problem. But I am slightly confused to what I can or shouldn't do with CWM so I don't brick my Note.
Is there a safer kernel I should flash that will keep root access?
Can I do a full wipe in CWM prior to flashing other roms? (Im looking at trying out CM9 and a couple of AOKP roms and also a couple of Stock based roms, not Chinese leaked)
I know im probably going to get shot down for asking this and told to search - which i have done and which has just added to my confusion. Im just after a little clarification from the helpful souls here at XDA...

Will you cook roms only for H variant? Or international version will be covered too?
Anyway, thank you for your work.

So this mean your implementing some bad ass things for it? I hope anyway lol.
I'd like to see this for the 900i
Sorry guys I only own 900H variant.
Only for 900H.
Could you guys help me?
After sometime using XtreStoLite INTL 2.2 im getting this error

Is it a hardware problem? I tried to flash a new rom and a new bootloader but didnt work.
Isnt the 900H stable enough to use on 900T?.... cuz i been rockin some other roms for ither versions and they work fine so long as you put a good kernel with em.

You don't always need to root your phone install custom ROMs
Undoubtedly the devs use root for testing and tweaking. And I'm certain they play with custom ROMs; it's no coincidence that the last few iterations have been integrating features first found in custom ROMs.

Is it? Then please provide the link
Two roms exist:
One based on LinageOS and PixelOS, I can't send link to telegram group here because of XDA rules. But you can find it!

POS
LOS
& Arrow OS
My personal opinion is about custom roms, for now they are good but they have some nasty issues. I tried POS for more than 4 days and now I'm back to RUI with root. Let's see how far this phone goes with custom roms, but for now I'll wait. I don't want to offend the developers, I even thank them for what they do!
