Seems like a battery issue. Probably needs changing as the fuel gauge is incorrectly reporting the battery charge.
20% is probably actually 0% and therefore no charge in the battery.
You've already confirmed this by solving the issue plugging the usb cable in.

Battery does not charge over 50%

The battery of my Nook Color (CM7 - build 128) does not charge over 50%.
The battery completely drained out (I probably left it on standby for 1 week) and now when I recharge it the charge level always stops exactly at 50% (shown on Spare Parts). I also noticed that when the charge level reaches 50%, the color of the 'n' symbol on the USB cable becomes green (maybe it thinks that 50% is now the maximum charge level?)
Can someone help?
Thanks!
If you have cwm installed, go to advanced option and reset battery stats. Then reboot and charge your nook. Looks like the complete drain might have screwed up the reporting on charge. I would recommend charging the nook while it is turned off and see if that fixes the problem.

I do not have cwm installed. Is there another way to reset the battery stats?
I tried to charge the nook when it is off, but it automatically powers itself on anytime I connect the USB cable. I do not remember it behaving like this before.

Good. So i see you're using build 128, you might try updating that. I don't recall when some of the battery calibration problems were fixed.
One thing to be clear on is even if your NC is saying it's 50%, if the charger stops, the battery is full. The charging is independent of Android, so it's not like it's overcharging etc. Most likely it's a calibration issue.
Get up to date on CM7 and use the NC until it powers off on its own then plug it in and don't touch it. It will turn on by itself. Leave it alone until it's done charging, see where it is then.

Battery Calibration does not work?

Hello Everyone,
I've just flashed CM9 stable version and wanted to calibrate my battery.
First, it's not charged to 100% even though I've charged it overnight. Then I've tried to calibrate it.
(1. Charge your phone to 100% full.
2. Reboot to CWM (recovery)
3. Scroll down using volume keys and choose advanced
4. Choose wipe battery stats
5. Reboot phone.
6. Without charging your phone at all... let it die completely until it shuts off.
7. Plug your phone in and without a break let it charge to 100%)
However, that did not work for me. It still charges to 98%, no matter charging overnight. I can't see 100%, even 99%
Any ideas?
Edit: And one more question: Doing a full wipe removes battery stats file?
Thanks in advance

Once it shows charged on 98%, just remove the charger and then plug it again, it'll start charging again and maybe it'll go till 99% or 100% and will show charged again ..
doing full wipe doesn't remove battery stats

Thanks anyway.
Wiping battery stats is a myth. Your battery may just be starting to go, it is old now.

Maybe try this way:
Wait til charged to, in your case 98%, shutdown phone.
Reconnect charger.
Don't boot phone, wait until charged to 100%.
Boot normally.
If this doesn't work, try to wipe bat stats and repeat this solution.

As far as I know, battery calibration by wiping battery stat's is not working. I've read an article about that when someone's been interviewing with one of Google's Android developers and she said that it's like deleting your browser history, it won't speed up your internet. Same goes with battery stats. It's only information about how long you've charged your battery last time, when you've plugged ur phone etc. etc.
It's more like placebo effect, you delete battery stats and you think it's "living" longer but it's not.
Not charging to 100% is (1)Kernel or (2)ROM issue to not showing correctly battery percentage (besides that battery should be full, it's only showing bad variables)

It could also be one of the duff chinese replacement batteries that always show 3923nV.
I have just had 2 bilitong batteries that will only charge to 99% and have a vastly lower capacity than claimed.
The 'cameron seino' battery i have also reports 3923 mV all teh time but does charge to 100% (update after full charge - cameron gives correct voltage and early testing shows excellent performance)
The original battery shows everything correctly and still charges to 100%
the only aftermarket battery which iv seen to charge up properly and give the expected life span is one made by a company called anker. I would personally go for an anker battery if I could not source a genuine Samsung one.

I agree that a new genuine battery is the best option - full stop.
The oversize cameron battery i am currently testing in my desire is proving a mix of good and bad. Definate improvement in battery life, although still problems in reporting correct mV, and rattles a bit in the oversized back (should be easily fixable)
Gonna get around to antutu battery tesating the 2 year old original 1400mAh, poor bilitong 1650mAh (ROFL) and 2400mAh cameron

Battery drains while charging while using it.Cant stop it

Have tried two different roms, (Paranoid ics and JB)...both with full wipe.
Have media scanner disabled.
Its the charger I think, same thing happens with mine with the stock charger.
But when I use my wifes galaxy s 2 charger it charges up no problem and twice as fast.
Charge It to full continously and then Wipe battery stats under the advanced menu of Recovery. Now reboot system and use your phone until your phone gets drained completely. Now charge it again to full continuously. It will be solved. If its a hardware fault you have to check with your charger. Replace it and see if it will solved
Hope it helps.
Thanks
Thanks
I have the same problem, but on stock ICS. What does the suggested method really do?
it recallibrates the battery... or it could just be a charger fault not able to supply enof current
might want to read this about battery calibrationHERE
If your phone is doing this then it is using more charge than receiving. Make sure you use a proper charger (not cheap one or usb) and problem should stop.

Hey I am using CM10.1 with it's stock kernel. I've been facing this problem suddenly too. The battery drains while charging. I tried using different cables and chargers, Hell! I bought a new battery from the Samsung store and tried it too. I tried factory resetting, wiping cache and all too, still nothing. Could you help me out in this? Thanks in advance.

I can't charge the phone turned on

Hi, I have a problem namely battery will not charge at on the phone. In the phone, the battery is kept constant at the same level, in the case where charging leave for the night reaches 100%, but Without the charger immediately decreases to the level before charging. I tried to charge the phone battery different levels, but nothing. It charges only when the phone is off.
Currently I have the room

I would be grateful for any help. Phone Galaxy Ace S5830.Battery original.

Sorry it was unnecessary on my part. No I did not check, and how to do it?
After your help, I cleaned the file again and to my surprise the battery was loading and recharge to 86% and further something not want to charge. Then I left my phone charger at night and Without the charger has dropped to 54%. Battery Calibration gives 54%.

Shutdown your phone and then put off your battery, and see if this is inflated, maybe your battery is dead :S
and..I'd advice you don't leave overnight charging your device, this may break your device's battery
Thanks a lot Viper The Ripper for all the help.
Problem solved, the battery can not be saved and had to buy a new one. Subject to closing
However, the problem is not solved, I put new battery recharge up to 100%, acted a little state has declined to 87% wanted to recharge again with curiosity and an hour remained at this level that the problem may be in the USB cable, charger, I tried to recharge the phone connection laptop unfortunately nothing. Any advice ?
