This is already my second turbo which has such problems. When I connect it to the charger, phone says that it's charching but it's not, nor is it draining battery.
e.g.: If battery's on 10%, after 5 hours of charching it will still be on %10. But once I remove it battery starts to drain normally
The phone just won't charge. I've tried everything, wireless chargers, old chargers, cleaning ports.
I have even dissasembled battery and charged it directly and it worked. Nothing seems to be burned on mainboard, but who knows...
Has anyone encountered such a problem? I am quite familiar with solder and phone dissasembly. If anyone can indicate, which chip is responsible for charching, I would try to fix it and post a guide.
Hello Nikoloz17, I haven't experienced this with Turbo but with Razr Maxx. Exact same symtoms was solved by replacing the battery. So, instead of messing with mainboard, you can try a different original battery in the first place.
Hi,
Thanks for your swift reply, but sadly problem is not in the battery, since as I said, removed it and charged it directly with couple of wires and correct voltage. Battery charged to 100%
Plus as I said, I have two of these phones, so if anyone has any ideas just message and i'll mess with them
do wipe data & cach on recovery.
if dosent work, flash stock firmware.
sorry for eng.
I found that mine did this just recently. I had to use a new cable to get it to work.
Sent from my XT1254 using XDA Free mobile app
I've had this happen to two of my Turbos. It use to worry the piss out of me. The thing that fixed it was to use the original charging cord & charger that came with it.
I'm facing same issue after changing the battery to a new one. One thing I noticed is it shows incorrect CPU temperature in recovery. I tried clearing cache, reflashing software, checking connections, different chargers and wires but nothing. It dies get connected through USB.
I believe it's something to do with the temperature sensor. If anyone knows where exactly it is and what can be done please reply. I don't know how many days my phone will last on battery saving mode. T_T
Hi all,
I've looked through several threads before making this one, but couldn't find a solution to my problem. I've got a Tmobile 32GB Note 5 that never had any problems with fast charging and as of today, it no longer fast charges. I've got several OEM fast charger adapters/cables along with the fast wireless charger and none of them are fast charging my phone. I've cleared the cache partition, done a factory reset and nothing seems to be working. I've also made sure that the option to fast charge are turned on in the battery section and no dice. It used to display a toggle to fast wireless charge in the battery settings as well, but that option doesn't appear anymore.
One other interesting thing is that whenever I'd connect the cable I'd get the USB message which never appeared before. Even when I did restarts, the USB message would always appear in the notification despite no USB cable being plugged in.
I'm very frustrated about this as I've been trying to work what's causing this problem and I've tried most tips/solutions, but having no luck.
Any help would be appreciated and thank you.

hi,
Firstly, i dont think i could give you a positive
answer to your issue, but maybe some pointers
to consider.....?
Ok, Secondly i found that fast charging does not
always have a positive effect on your battery. eg battery life
Even more frustrating when your battery is sealed
and if you want to ever change the battery , you have to pay Samsung /service provider to do the job.!
Thirdly, i had similar issues(like you) with fast charging my Note 4 and Note5.
My Note5 also suddenly stopped fast charging and
would only "cable charge " (re Notifications bar)
I tried all sorts of settings combination, nothing worked. Like you i became frustrated because I could not sortt issue out.
A few months afterwards i swapped my usb power cord around and used my old Note 4 usb cord... suddenly fast charging, was back?
(Why i dont know, as i did try out different combinations.... then.)
Ever since i started to take note/ (info) of the effects on battery fast charging. eg Forum members experience and remarks, my own personal experiences Web articles//opinions etc.
Came to conclusions fast charging , will /could shorten you phone battery life eventually? Not good.
I think even Samsung realizes it (my opinion)
So now i have my fast charging back, i mostly cable charge.!
Good luck

i have the same problem but just removed the charger activate the power saving mode connect again the charger.once the fast charging is working u can deactivate the power saving mode.repeat the process if its not working.
As with other similar posts, I seem to be having USB issues. Neither charging cables nor OTG show any signs of functionality. Wireless charging, however, does seem to be working but I must keep my phone out of its case. Just like the others, I saw a few persistent popups from Samsung VR to take a little tour, and twice I went back to what I was doing. Hadnt seen it since, then all of a sudden while connected to a normal note 3 charger, it began to rapidly switch between charging and disconnected. Unprovoked of course, and when I went to inspect and reinsert the cable, it began again after 2 or 3 minutes. I unplugged it, promptly tested with the original charger and had no luck. Then on to many more cables and charging bricks, laptop ports and such.. no action. Tried OTG flash drive, nothing. Last ditch effort, tried wireless charging with the phone off and its working. Has any headway been made in this issue? It seems software related, and at the very least carriers could acknowledge it if so. I am not under warranty, and this is an incredible loss for me as it effectively neuters my cell phone. I need to charge while out and about to run my business and wireless isnt very portable... Please help XDA
I have isolated the problem to a software issue undoubtedly... Correct me if im wrong. The wireless charging is interrupted when a cable is plugged into the usb port, indicating that it is not faulty and the phone recognizes the hardware. At least according to my personal logic.
EDIT : The Induction charging appears to be on its way out as well. Only working intermittently, and rarely at that. I fear the worst brick possible (one not caused my my own tampering)
Desperate bump plus a bonus question: what would you consider a fair price to pay for USB port repair? Considering giving that a try, maybe I have bad solder or something. I don't have UV glue and all that other necessary stuff to check it out myself.
So, I think I have a the same issue. I had Note 5 (DUO) which was 8 months old and it just suddenly stopped charging. It charged via USB only if the phone was turned off. However, it seems that it charged wireless. Because i was traveling, in the pinch, business meetings etc, could not waste time figuring out the issue and purchased another Note5(DUO), in August. Well, just today, it developed the same simptom as the previous one: it stopped charging via USB when the phone is on, it only charges when the phone is off! I see that there are no replies to the OP message, but adding my issue here in hope that there will be some response....
I recently bought 2 new Nexus 6's and am having issues with the stock charger phone charging status disconnecting and reconnecting about every half second till I unplug it. The first thing I did was upgrade the phones to 7.1.1, other than that the phones are both stock, non-rooted, etc.
Things I've tried:
Stock devices: phone #1 with charger #1, phone #1 with charger #2, phone #2 with charger #2, phone #2 with charger #1. (Fail)
Various known working cables with stock charger and phone combinations. (Fail)
Different outlets. (Fail)
Different chargers. (Success) All of my other chargers are old school and do not have turbo charging capabilities.
I am wondering if maybe this is a software issue? Did one of the updates break turbo charger support? I didn't test the charger before upgrading to 7.1.1.
I am also wondering if maybe this is just how turbo chargers work? Maybe they turn on and off quickly (Pulse Width Modulation style) to keep the battery cooler or something?
I have also read of people who get notifications saying they're phone entered a turbo charging state. I see no such notifications. Not 100% sure if Nexus 6 usually shows a notification for that.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for the read.
TLDR: Charger issue???!#[email protected]#$TERGAVADFG
Anyone? Even a response saying "yes this happens with mine" or "no this doesn't happen with mine"?
Could be "normal" for all I know.
I have never heard of this. Certainly doesn't happen I my phone. I would suspect the USB cable first.
It's been several years since I've run stock. I can't remember if the turbo information is shown anywhere but in the battery stats. On the pure nexus ROM, it's on the lock screen.
Oddly enough my phone did this very thing. Same as yours, brand new and stock charger. I actually had a few other chargers and they all worked normally albeit very slow.
One day I decided to give the stock charger a shot and wouldn't you know it would charge for two seconds then not charge for two seconds while plugged in. Your results may be different but if I left the phone on the charger after about 3 minutes the phone would start to charge normally. Might be worth a shot if you haven't already tried leaving it plugged in for any length of time.
@n0ts0smart, the time you tried the turbo charger and it stuttered then started working, was your phone battery mostly run down?

I was wondering the same thing I think you are. This issue does seem to be related to turbo charging mode. Tested the battery issue when the phone was at 90% and it charged just fine.
This issue only seems to come up when "turbo charging".
Okay. I have tried 3 sets of 2 "new" phones (second set was reconditioned). So 6 phones, chargers, and cable combinations. Always seem to have the problem. It happens when the battery is "very low" I don't know at what percentage it starts happening. I strongly suspect "Turbo 2" charging mode. Stock rom updated as much as possible also tried Nitrogen os (android 7.1.2).
No matter what I try this problem persists. Yet I can't find a single mention of it online anywhere.
Decided I'd create a video to show it in action. Current rom is [ROM] ► [7.1.2] ► [shamu] ► Nitrogen OS N ► OMS (Substratum) ► (17.Aug.2017).
Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n77Kn7zMM-g&feature=youtu.be
I only got my phone last week but I'm already seeing an issue where it will stop wireless charging. If I'm just using it for a while and then go to put it on the charger and it will not charge or indicate that it's charging. I have been keeping a simple Spigen case on it but that doesn't seem to matter - did the same thing case or no case. I also tried multiple wireless chargers - same on all of them. It's definitely aligned properly too.
I do have Battery Care turned on (custom, after 10pm) - but even when that is active it still shows that it's charging and everything functions as expected. And this has happened outside of those specified BC hours.
A restart seems to bring it back - but something is up given that it's happened a couple times already in less than a week. Anyone else seeing this?
I'm just waiting for it to happen again before reaching out to Support.
Follow up: it just did it again this evening.
I wanted to avoid restarting the phone just to see if I could get it working again. I tried a couple chargers again, no sign of charging at all. I went into Battery Care and turned it off - still no charging. I plugged a cable in to charge and it worked normally. I waited a couple minutes, removed the cable again and then tried a wireless charger again and it worked this time!
I'm leaving Battery Care off and have now restarted my phone again. Will see how it goes for the next couple days.
I also found this thread on Sony's forums: https://community.sony.ee/t5/xperia-1/xperia-1-ii-wireless-charging-stopped-working/td-p/3686459
I'm not sure he was having the same issue though, as it appeared his wireless chargers at least detected the device and tried to charge - they just couldn't establish the connection to do it. Though his solution did sound like it was the "custom" option in Battery Care that may be the culprit.
It did it again this morning. Plugging a wired charger got it to work again but I've emailed Support now. This is dumb. Will update with any additional troubleshooting or possible solution.

What brand of wireless charger do you use?
Did the phone have idle temp before charging?

Multiple chargers. A 15W Anker charger, a 3 coil Ikea charger, a generic 10W charger at work, and a Pixel Stand. As it's happened I usually have multiple chargers around to test, so I've tried any of them available. Temperature hasn't appeared to matter. I definitely have not had the phone "hot" when trying it but I have also waited like a half hour or so to try it again thinking about potential temperature issues.
I also posted it to Reddit this morning on /r/sonyxperia and someone responded saying that there's a new update from Docomo that appears to call out a fix for wireless charging occasionally not working. So I'm hopeful that might be what I'm experiencing. Still waiting to hear something back from Support.

I use one from Belkin. https://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F7U083/
When I use the phone heavily and it's sort of hot it doesn't charge for a while. Once it's cold it works flawlessly. I have the US version, latest firmware. And an addition to that is my Spigen case.
only thing I noticed is that it is very picky about positioning, as it is a long phone it easy easy to miss place
I've got issue with an ikea wireless charger plugged to a Sony clock.
Issue fixed with an other cable from the clock to the charger.
Use quality cable like the stock Sony one.

I encountered the same issue today, "it says wireless chargering cannot start".Any one find out what is the problem?!
Help...
Purchased on release day directly from Sony Store online.
No issues with wireless charging until a few days ago.
Will first initially register as charging, but after 5 seconds, will stop and pop up window will indicate that wireless charging cannot start.
This issue is with several wireless chargers.
No issue with direct charging.
Tried BatteryCare function off/on, but no change.
Any assistance in helping resolve this will be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE:
For some sort of strange reason, the wireless charging has corrected itself.
The issue has disappeared and functioning as designed.
Call myself "Lucky"
Hope this doesn't happen again.
