Convert for native Messaging app to Android Messages - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

I tried to convert to Android messages from the Samsung messages and noticed that all my old messages did not move over. Has any one else experienced this or know of a solution?

[Q] long text messages automatically converting to mms

whenever i copy paste text from browser of more than 160 characters to text someone, the message automatically converts to an MMS. is there anyway to stop this? i want to send long text messages. if i type manually i'm able to send long messages. trouble only while copy pasting from clipboard (browsers).
thank you.
I'd love to get rid of that as well...
i found that the stock app cannot do it. need to go for third party apps like go sms pro or handcent..
Had the same problem on my Dell Streak running Froyo ... Same problem on Note and Gingerbread ... I dumped the stock messaging and moved to Chomp SMS and now Handcent SMS ... No problems in either app and I sometimes send rather long texts
If you do fancy changing your SMS app go to the Play Store and search BigSMS. It simply allows you to send huge texts.
Great. So i've probably been running up MMS costs unknowingly. Ridiculous. Should send Samsung the bill.

Messaging apps service not running in the background. EMUI 3.0 B621

Hi guys, I need your help. My messaging apps service closes after some time of no activity. It therefore does not receive any messages and the only text messages I get are those that come shortly after I have opened the app. If the app is not running for too long I don't get any texts. Has anybody had this problem? I have tried different sms apps but they are all like this.

I'm getting SMS notifications on my smartwatch, but the text is missing on my phone.

I know people have trouble with MMS and this phone, but I just noticed that I'm completely missing a few SMS that I should have received. The only reason I know these texts exist is that somehow I got a notification on my Pebble smartwatch, but when I go to check it on my phone I have no notification and all my texting apps show no messages. This is a very strange problem, and I'm wondering if anyone else have ever seen an issue like this? It seems like I'm receiving the texts and they're getting deleted?
I'm on AT&T
Try switching to Textra,it seems to give most people here the best messaging experience vs stock or other 3rd party apps.

Previous Messages Don't Show Up in Android Messages

Hi,
I've recently installed Android Messages on my Redmi 4X (running MIUI 9.2.3.0), but none of my previous messages appear. The messaging functionality works fine (I can send and receive messages fine), so it's not a permission issue.
All my messages appear in the default messenger app and Textra (which is what I was previously using) so I was wondering if there is some sort of import process I am not aware of for Android Messages.
I have also tried backing up and restoring all my messages using SMS Back Up and Restore as I saw suggested on another forum, but that hasn't worked either.
Thanks, Matt

Android Messages on Note 9

I have chosen to use Android Messages vs the the Samsung Messages app that orginally came with the phone. I personally prefer Android Messages as it's simple and not so compacted. Anyhow recently, I notice I can't get notifications for some reason its like it's set to a timer that will allow the notification to be on the lock screen or pull down menu. Perhaps another way of describing it is: it's when I have multiple sms messages but nowhere was I informed that I had messages, but if only one message comes I get the proper notification. It's weird as... All my notifications are properly all set up and the app is updated to the latest verison..
Hi, did you get a solution to this, I have a similar problem on my Note 9 Default SMS App, I never get notifications when I get any texts. I can only see them when i open Messages APP
