Can't unlock bootloader from Motorola's website - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone ! I need help to unlock the bootloader of my Moto x4 Android Oreo. I can not unlock from Motorola's official website as soon as I log in to the page to unlock the bootloader, the next page displays an "unknown error". Is there any safe and quick alternative method to unlock the bootloader?

nopes, Moto website is the only option.

Are you not able to get far enough to put in your IMEI?

no, as soon as the login is approved the next page displays the unknown error

It happened with me too, but I tried after some time and I was able to unlock the bootloader.
Try with another browser too.

how to unlock bootloader

How do I go about unlocking my boot-loader? I tried using flash tool, but it says my Xperia Z is not supported for unlocking?!
I did a clean install on my device..rooted...installed cwm..and now I need to unlock boot-loader, but I have no idea how to go about doing this successfully...and help or leads would be great! Thanks!
i tried this tut http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/tutorial-xperia-z-zl-bootloader-t2153261
But when I check my phone to see if I'm capable or not do unlock BL, it says I cant.
If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.

Now what?!
The answer is in the post you quoted. If it says "No", then you can't unlock your bootloader. There's no way around it.

damn, guess I'm SOL. I want to be able to use kernel v25
EDIT: I see some post when researching stating that other users where in my situation and then it changed to yes somehow..
If you want to spend time trying to bypass it, then that's up to you. It 100% cannot be done. Nobody has broken the bootloader security on a Sony device since around 2011.
kingvortex is right, there's no way to bypass that security.

[Q] Rooting Moto X

Ok so sorry if this has already been posted but I can't find anything. This is my first attempt at rooting. I am trying to root my 2014 Moto x. I am on US cellular so I believe the model is XT1093. Not sure though as this seems to be missing from settings in lollipop. I tried a root tutorial for xt1097 but did not work. There is no OEM unlock setting in my Developer options. I think I have to unlock my bootloader through Motorola but havn't been successful.. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Andrew
I've got the same problem here I think it's a US Cellular problem with what they eliminated from lollipop but I can't be sure looking everywhere but can't find any answers. I wish we could get some help with this though would love to unlock and root this thing.
Yea, I think your right about it being a US Cellular thing. No one else seems to have the problem and US Cellular is a unique model number (XT1093 vs 1095 or 1097). Iv tried to unlock the bootlader through motos web cite which should work but I'm having some difficulties. I entered the info from my device, it said it was able to be unlocked and gave me the unlock key. but when I entered the key I got an error. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or they are.. Still working on it..

What command are you using to unlock your bootloader with the key? And what error are you getting?
I've tried the unlock method from Motorola. It all works until it prompts you to check the box in developing. options that says unlock oem functions. On the 1093 in lollipop the dev. option is not there. Also tried the tool kit in this forum that is made for non pure phones... It works great... even tells you your phone is unlocked but it doesn't finish. What I mean is it doesn't reboot your phone and the phone is still locked. Really frustrating ? Any help or ideas are very welcome. PLEASE HELP!
Is there a way to root the phone without unlocking? Cause if we could... We could try a different rom and see if from there we could find the unlock box in the developer options.

There's no such thing as "Unlock/ Unlock OEM functions" in developer options, in any ROM, ever.
Just found this.. Apparently Nexus 6 & 9 have this additional step to unlock the bootloader. I didn't have to do this while unlocking my device whilst on lollipop. So I'm gonna assume it's possible to unlock the bootloader on your device if this option is missing from the Developer Options..
Follow the procedure on motorola's website to unlock the bootloader and report back with the error you see on the online tool, or the actual device.
P.S - voids your warranty, unless you have a dev device
It doesn't give an error per say... It tells you to go to dev options and check the box or click on the option to unlock oem. Of course it's not there so the program will not execute the unlock. It says waiting for device....

Has there been any more insight on this?
After updating to 5.1, OEM unlock is in developer options now

UNLOCK works... and root.

In case anyone is wondering, the unlock process went smoothly. Usual Motorola process, and the usual "orange" warning screen on bootup.
As for root -- see the X4 root thread
Magisk devs are still working on this device... be patient
I've never had a Moto android phone- what is the usual process? I know that you need to send them info from the bootloader, and they email you an unlock code. Can you re-lock/unlock at will now or does every unlock require a new code?
I have never relocked a Moto phone, but would think the code stays the same as it is device-specific.
The process is just that... Go to the moto unlock site, get your code and unlock via fastboot -- the email from Moto contains the code and step by step instructions if you need them.

When U get a fresh locked phone the status code is 0 and is locked and official... when u unlock it's bootloader the status codes change from 0 to 3 and when u relock it the status code is 2.. u can't permanently lock it (some legends say we need to change mobo)
no u can use the unlock code which u received by email plenty of time's....that's your permanent unlock code but if u do the same process ie goto moto bootloader page and blabla.. then the code which u received again can be used plenty of time's and the 2nd code will become your perm code and the 1st code won't work again!!

As for root -- without custom recovery, Magisk was the best bet. But is unable to properly patch boot.img. The good news is that I was able to modify and flash a different boot.img, test it, and then return to stock boot.img (on both A and B partitions) without any trouble. Theoretically, Magisk Beta build is supporting Pixel type A/B partitioning, so perhaps there is hope...

I am no developer but work as a computer network engineer by day (Cisco). This new "slotted" partition scheme is different. Once we are are able to side-load TWRP "temporarily" we should be good. I have a retail version (-1) from best buy sitting new in box downstairs. If there is anything you need from that specfiic unmodified device let me know. I have not unlocked boot loader yet as I see no reason too unless root privileges can be guaranteed; which i know from my last 3 hours of reading you're working your a.s.s off with lol.

Can we still unlock the bootloader on the Honor 9 lite?

Hey all,
So I've heard that Huawei has stopped giving out unlock codes? I tried to go to their website to apply for it (giving my IMEI etc) and instead of giving me a code it just says 'please contact Huawei for questions'
I'm trying to set up project treble with it if I can figure it out.
Thanks!
You can with dc unlocker. You Just need to pay 5 euros and they Will unlock boatloader
I got my code on 08/06/2018
In the morning at 7:05 AM IST on 08/06/2018 i applied for my bootloader unlock code and i got it easily. BTW did you cross check other pre-selected options? Like 1st one asking EMUI version? Maybe that's the reason of you not getting unlock code.
Try again or Use the mailing method(I don't know much about but you have to mail the support to obtain the unlocking code and it might take upto 2-3 days)
Just got my code for bootloader unlock directly from Huawei no issues, although i will not be using straight away i have kept it in a safe place.

I tried through their portal, and via email. This was their response:
We do apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing, however, it is our duty to inform you that Huawei Canada does not provide codes to unlock the bootloader, root the device or provides any tool/code to modify the phone internally. We kindly inform you that this action can potentially "brick" the phone or in other words, renders the phone completely unusable and voids the warranty service and device support. We have no control over how unlocking the bootloader or rooting the phone, will affect your device.
We understand that you might be able to start the request to get the bootloader unlock code from our EMUI website, regrettably, your device does not qualify to receive this code, since the Huawei Canada warranty policy limits us to do not provide this code in order to prevent future inconveniences to our consumers.
This bootloader unlocks code, it is just limited to be available for certain specific regions.
We are aware that you can find unofficial information over the internet, about how to root or unlock your phone and due to our Security and Privacy Policies, we cannot provide you these codes or tools, for that reason, we cannot assist you in that matter.
We highly recommend you refrain from taking these actions on your device.

I read the instructions for unlock of Huawei mobile, it requires you erase the Huawei id.
How does that affect warranty?
Can you reapply the old id if necessary?

No, you can't. DC-Unlocker neither autodetects the phone nor is it in the manual selection list. Also https://www.dc-unlocker.com/supported_models_1/huawei_phones says no bootloader unlocking service for said phone.
On the other hand Huawei support gave me this reply (translated by me) :
Hello [censored],
sadly the bootloader unlock code service has been terminated completely. I'm really sorry but I can't help you.
Best wishes,

Not true !
https://hcu-client.com/supported-models.php
HCU will read the bootloader code easily (at a price) :-
https://hcu-client.com/
Read instructions carefully and follow them EXACTLY !
HCU is from the same stable as DC-Unlocker.

Thanks for this, it appears to be the only bootloader unlock method currently available. Have you actually done this yourself? Can you (or anyone else) confirm that it works?
By the "instructions", I assume you mean the tutorial at http://hcu-client.com/read-bootloader-code-huawei-phone/. They seem clear, but they don't tell you how to actually use the code to unlock the bootloader! Can someone please point me to instructions how to do that? Thank you.

Yep, I mean the tutorial.
I have used this method a good few times, all successfully .
Dc-Unlocker/HCU allows direct unlock on a lot of models and gives the unlock code on others.
To use this code, put phone in "fastboot" mode and issue the command :-
fastboot oem unlock code
Phone should factory re-set (erasing all user data) with an unlocked bootloader.

I can confirm. There's just one thing to note: Deinstall the adb drivers from Microsoft and use the ones shipped with HiSuite. Else there will be no virtual COM port and as a result the tool won't find the phone. [EDIT]And don't try to use the tool in a VM. Sadly it refuses to work there.[/EDIT]
Can someone please point me to instructions how to do that?

1) Enable Settings > Developer Options > Enable OEM Unlock
2) Enable Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging
3) Turn off phone
4) Press volume down key while connecting the phone to USB to boot the phone into fastboot
5) Execute "fastboot oem unlock <unlocking code>" on the PC the phone is connected to (install adb and fastboot first)
P.S. Many thanks to @Sparkrite for pointing us in the right direction!

Thank you so much. With this method I successfully unlocked the bootloader of my Huawei Honor 9 Lite. No problems, just one oddity – the HCU software warns you that reading the bootloader unlock code will wipe your phone, and you have to acknowledge that to continue. This, of course, is not the case: it is using the code to unlock the bootloader that causes the phone to do a low-level reset. Presumably a mistake in the wording.

I used HCU to read the bootloader unlock code before I saw your message, and so had not uninstalled the Microsoft ADB drivers. I had already installed HiSuite. It still worked for me, so presumably it is not necessary to uninstall the Microsoft ADB drivers unless HCU doesn't recognize the phone.

P10 not turning on after update!!!

Hello.
i have a Huawei P10. [VTR-L29 9.0.1.159(C185E3R1P9)]. I updated it using hisuite and firmware finder via erecovery 2 weeks ago, then recently i tried to check for updates in hisuite, an update is available, with the same build number(developer) with size of 880mb and i updated it, after completion of update, phone restarts, verify installation packages and proceed with update installing, after 99% phone restarts again and not turning on itself, i tried manually turning it on, not successful. so I tried plugging it in my computer, hisuite detects it, and system recovery is the only option. i tried but it failed, and should be taken to the service center.
What should I do?
-my phone was purchased abroad
-warranty expired a year ago
-i dont have the box of it and the imei infos.
If anyone can help me, please I need it. THANKS

Hope that bootyloader still working, else there's a chance for you to get another phone.
If I had to go thru what you have today... I would try to flash Emui 9 based RR or Los just to revived while enjoying the pure android interface.
If all else fails... Go back to basic maybe there is a thing or two that you've missed
