[Help] Z3 Compact Docomo - Wifi issue on Android 5 and 6 !! - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone! I'm a newbie to XDA. Sorry for my bad English
I'm using an Xperia Z3 Compact Docomo. Recently, I found out a problem with wifi on my device. I've spent time to search for this for several time, but it's not like any opportunities there:
My device is running on Marshmallow. The Internet is very, very slow( of course I don't enable any Battery Saving Mode). I have flashed my device back to Lollipop, but the problem was still there. Then I flashed my device back to Kit Kat, the connection was ok. I thought that this problem is my device's firmware. However, when I used my device on Marshmallow to connect to my neighbor's wifi, there no problem with Internet connection. Then I flashed back to Lollipop and connect to my neighbor's wifi, the connection is still ok.
I think this problem related to DHCP, Mac address,... or something else like that but I don't know how to fix.
Now I'm running on Kit Kat in order to keep normal connection with my wifi. But I don't want to stay at this version because of the ancient interface, you know :crying:. I want to go to Lollipop or Marshmallow. Can you explain why and help me how to fix this problem ?
Thanks you!

what ftf region are you using guys?branded or unbranded? i dont have issues like yours..
unbranded
unbranded MEA
i had the same problem with sony xperia zr, and some other guys had it too, there is something seriously messed up with sony wifi drivers...
good part is it apears to be a software issue and can be fixed if sony whould give a damn...
http://android.kul.is/2013/09/sony-xperia-zr-wifi-problem.html
here is a detailed post about it, although sony told this guy eventually it was a hardware problem i'm pretty sure it's not, had the same issue on my zr, flashing a new firmware usually fixed it for 3-4 days untill it began again.
i suspected it was some app that i installed that messed up the wifi, anyway i got a new xperia z1 and my zr went to my sister, after a factory reset wifi works fine for her now...... so no idea actually...

My problem was most likely HW, because flashing new firmware including the one in the service centre did not work. But it looks like Sony has a lot of problems with the Wi-Fi chips in general - so the range of possible errors is quite broad. If it was a software problem, hopefully new update fixes it.
EDIT: The Xperia article is the most popular article by far on my website - which is sad.
it only happens to me once. the problem was solve once i off the wifi n on it.

Same here. I went into my router config and enable the Packet Flow Accelerator. No issues after that. Seems like Sony wifi chip eats a lot of packet data.

Made a factory reset and it's still happening at home and in the office, so it must be the Xperia Z Ultra as other devices work fine in both locations.

I had the same issue and the wi-fi worked again after I turned on the "Auto IP Support" option in the Wi-Fi advanced menu. Hope this helps.
Might work for other Z series...especially after Custom ROm or updated to 4.3
Hi all just wanna share with you all to all the Xperia ZR users who are facing problem to connect to any 2.4GHz networks. This is an official solution I found after weeks of testing and research. In the end, the driver is not loaded properly or by default, custom ROM created the havoc. So this is a solution finally will end all the Xperia ZR owners WiFi woes:
I noticed that when running ADB GUI, there is this file missing from /System/Data/Misc/WiFi called "WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini" .
I'm using ADB Helper Version 4.2.0.0, under BUILD.Prop Viewer tab, choose wlan.driver.config it points to that location. I downloaded somewhere from Xperia developer forum website. Then i modified and modified until i found the solution.
in this file modified the line gDotMode=3 (which is running in N mode only) to either 1 or 2 which s "a" or "b" mode.
I reboted the device and the wifi works and N mode is disabled meaning you wont be able to connect in 5GHz mode anymore. But you will be able to connect to all the CURRENT 2.4GHz AP ...yayyy!!! I read somewhere where ICS android allows you to Enable or Disable 5GHz scanning of AP. But later were removed. 4.3 updates sometimes also i found out will WIP this configuration or maybe Developer forgotten to include this as well. I hope Sony Xperia developers will look into this.
Now, my phone can connect to any 2.4GHz WiFi.. I would be willing to help just drop me an email at [email protected].

Re: Somehow it worked for me...
I faced the same Bluetooth & Wi-Fi problem...
For Bluetooth I have got the replacement..
For wi-fi.. I did the tethering..
I created the Hot Spot in another phone and then access that hot-spot from my Xperia ZR..
Luckily it obtained the IP address of Hot-spot and started working
Then without switching off the wi-fi of my phone, I deleted the Hot-Spot connection and tried to access my already created wi-fi router setup fom ZR...
It clicked and started obtaining the IP address of my router..and its working fine from that day...

[Q] CM11 WiFi Connection Issue

Hey guys! I have only just joined XDA Developers so please excuse me if I have posted this thread in the wrong area. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Advance (GT-I9070) running stock Jellybean firmware (4.1.2 ITV) but as you all know the stock firmware for this device is full of bugs and freezes often. I successfully rooted my device and installed Team Canjica's CM10.2 ROM (4.3) from the thread on XDA Developers but the WiFi wasn't working. I then installed Maclaw's CM11 ROM (KitKat) because I thought that might solve the issue but it didn't. Here are the details:
Device scans for nearby wireless routers.
I type in the password for my home router.
Device saves router. "Saved, Secured" message displayed.
I tap on my home router in the list to connect.
Device says "Connecting" for a couple of seconds and then goes back to saying "Saved, Secured".
I browsed through the forums and some users suggested switching WiFi Frequency to Auto and turning off WiFi Optimisation but neither of those methods worked for me. The ROM was installed successfully and all other features are working properly so I don't think that is the issue. And my router settings are also alright since I am able to connect to it from my Nexus 7 (2013) properly. Can someone please provide me with a working solution for this issue? I will start receiving very high data usage bills soon because my data plan isn't unlimited. Thank you!
Is your ssid hidden (not broadcasted) by any chance? i had those troubles on hidden home network. Sometimes it worked after a while, sometimes it didn't. What helped me is to broadcast ssid for a moment, get connected with phone, remove broadcast (it will reboot router so phone will lose wifi for a moment). Then somehow it got connected normally
Sent from my SGS Adv. using xda-developers app.

I just checked my router settings and SSID Broadcast is enabled. I tried flashing OmniRom 4.3 thinking that this may be because of a problem with CyanogenMod but the problem still persists. Is there any additional kernel that I was supposed to install perhaps?
CyanogenMod 11 version ?

Just a detail to those who have not upgraded to JB stock and think it is impossible to use it without problems:
All bugs and freezes in Stock JB currently are perfectly finished.
I use STOCK, only with modified kernel (cocore 8.2) without freezes or bugs in months of use.
Enjoy the developer's work (cocafe), because without it JB probably would be impossible in SGA. However we have JB 100% functional and bug-free.
About KK and WIFI bugs:
The only KK (or based) ROM that used without WIFI bugs was RR 20140313.
In fact, the only issue is incall vol. in my experience.
WiFi Direct, Camera -> Panorama is laggy , Screen Recorder not working Not Tested
I also noticed that the battery is worse durability.
But I went back to JB Stock -- personal preference.

Actually I did try that method. Flashed Samsung's latest stock firmware I9070XXLQL (ITV) and then rooted and installed CoCore. To be honest overall performance was much better and UI smoothness was improved. But after a couple of days of regular usage with just a few basic applications such as a note taker, train arrival time, WhatsApp etc. the device started freezing up a couple of times a day again. I admit it worked much better than before but freezes and hangs were still quite frequent. Running OmniROM 4.3 now with no issues so far except for dialer FC, laggy panorama and non functional WiFi hotspot.

WIFI not working with cm-11-20140521-UNOFFICIAL-janice and cm11.0_janice.nova.201406
Same wifi problem with cm-11-20140521-UNOFFICIAL-janice and cm11.0_janice.nova.20140601. Wifi not connecting even after giving the right password (used to work correctly with jb4.1.2 and still works with desktop) only showing saving and connecting wifi. Then the wifi connection is shown to be saved. If wifi does not work with cyanogenmod11, then what's the use of upgrading?
Is wifi is not working in any custom kitkat Rom?
Please suggest a solution.
Try couple times to connect. I remember sometimes I had to reconnect 2-3 times before it gets connection. And the problem with kernel was about WIFI not turning on at all, it was not even search SSIDs.

Wifi, Wifi tethering and Bluetooth is not working

Hi,
I have Xperia ZR C5503 phone about a year. Until 2 months ago I was using Android 4.3. When Lollipop update distributed I upgraded it to 5.0.2.(official)
But sometime after the upgrade my phone started not connecting wifi. It sees the available networks but not connecting them. The signal drops to lowest level about a second while trying to connect and it fails. Also I was using my phone's wifi tethering feature to share my internet to my pc. However wifi tethering is also not working. I enable it but I think it can't work as router. And lastly, I tried to send a file to my phone via bluetooth and it also enables but no other device sees it. I also have low sound on the phone and I can't hear people I am talking to.
So I got frustrated this saturday and downgraded to official 4.4.4. But it was same. Later I unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone, installed recovery software. With that recovery mode I cleared all caches but the problem still countinued. Lastly I installed an unofficial modified kitkat to my phone but those problems still appears. I don't know why this phone is so problematic for me. I don't know if it is software related or hardware related. Now that my warranty is no longer valid.
Could you give me some ideas to attempt to solve these issues?

Hi,
I had dropped my phone maybe 1 or 2 times but not from high heights.(~ a meter) But that was more than 5 months ago. I am having this issue since last 2 months and I am sure that I didn't drop or harm my phone in any way. However I wash my phone, do you think that could cause that? Just effecting wifi and bluetooth components?
It's not true about dropping the phone make that errors appear, there are many people with same issues, this phone have manufacturing problems, it's not software
My brother have same problem and he never dropped the phone. Just take a look in Sony forums.
Btw, my brother's phone lost Bluetooth connection, NFC, WiFi, Sometimes WiFi works making some pressing in the NFC spot some seconds, but sucks anyway :/

Wifi problem
my sony xperia zr has the same wifi problem it says scanning trys to connect the signal drops and again starts scanning..
I stopped the wifi service and restarted my phone and the wifi worked for a day and again the same proble.
Do anyone has a solution for this??
I have been facing the issue of wifi not connecting, since my upgrade to 5.1.1.
My research has led me to believe that the issue may be software based. However I'm not an expert in the field. And i was thinking of downgrading back to an older version of lollipop when the wifi was not dropping.
Can anyone advise on whether this may be a smart move, or a completely useless one?
Also is there a diagnostic protocol I can go through that could help me figure out for sure whether my wifi is busted physically, as some of you suggest here.
Thanks
Josette
I've tried the method "settings global put tether_dun_required 0" but when i reboot my Z5, the value comes back to 1 ... (and of course wifi tethering is not working, going thru USB is ok)
I'm discussing various points here. Check out everyone of this point and get a fair idea from where problem is originating.
1) Go to WiFi Settings > Keep wifi awake during sleep. Here the string value should be "Always"
2) Under stock firmware there are numerous battery optimisation. Some of them kill WiFi so battery can saved. Now disable this features if you want no drops in WiFi.
3) If both of don't work, head over to Xperia ZR General > Search for your specific device FTF. Flash it via flash tool. This should reset all wifi drivers. Don't opt or apply any battery features and use WiFi. If still issue exits then you're in bad luck.
4) Check for other WiFi access points. Check your own router's webpanel and see somewhere broadcasting and multicast signals are ticked. Also check your WiFi is at 100% of it's performance ( 100% transmit power)
5) Hardware issue. Most of the software part is not causing issues so it's safe to say a hardware issue is causing this. Now, long time ago when 5.0 was released for our device I read article regarding ZR. The user had constant WiFi drops. His issue was that his WiFi soldering was poor inside hardware. He soldered it again and his wifi drops were no longer a problem.
People also experience various bluetooth/tethering issue. It's important that people should gain knowledge about firmware flashing techniques so that device would get reset and you yourself could diagnose the problem. 1 in 0.7k unit has software/hardware issue in manufacturing. Sony provides diagnostic app, search in play store ( I'm not sure about this). Hope this answer helps many.

[SOLVED] Wifi issues with Z3c on Marshmallow - possible fix?

Since Sony made the official non-beta Marshmallow available for Z3c many people are complaining about wifi issues: wifi connection is very frequently being dropped. I was searching for possible fixes but none helped.
I wonder if anyone knows how to fix those problems and I also wonder if this issue is only present on some special configurations (rooted/unrooted/RecRoot...). so I am starting this thread in hope to find the solution.
Please help with any useful info you can...

exact same problem with me-i wonder if a factory reset makes any difference?
No issues here at all (UK EE) non rooted
i wonder if this issue is somehow connected with the rooting procedure, since i haven't heard of it on unrooted devices...
I have the same issue with my Z3c and concept rom, rooted. But I don't have the problem since beginning. I got the problems after my move. Now I have disabled visibility of network. In my old flat I had the WiFi visible and never had problems.

Poor Wifi connection on unrooted xperia x3c
toxic-hero said:

I have acquired Sony Xperia z3c only recently and upgraded the new device straight to MM, so no experience with previous versions.
I think there may be some improvement using the Lollipop DHCP client, however compare with my other phone Samsung S4 mini (Kitkat) the wifi performance is considerably weaker. Measuring wifi with speedtest.net app I get such different results as 6-8 Mbps with Samsung and 2-3 Mbps with Xperia z3c. At other places where the wifi is even weaker (1-2 Mbps), the S4 mini is still capable of downloading stuff, whereas xperia hardly connects and if so then keeps dropping the connection. I wonder whether the issue is possibly linked to the MM battery optimization, as there is no more the option of not saving battery using wifi. Within the optimized processes I've picked "com-sonymobile-wifi" to not optimize and seems to me that the wifi connection has improved slightly.
Any other suggestions in terms of improving wifi performance through power settings?

I did everyting what mentioned earlier, but nothing helps, I flashed back KitKat, and the issue is still here. It doesn't matter if it's rooted or unrooted. So I flashed back the original firmware and sent back to the local sony service because I still have guarantee for it. Now I'm waiting and maybe they can fix it.
WiFi has been spotty on this phone through all the versions of Android it's had. The legacy DHCP option is new to me I may try out out if i get anymore wifi issues

WiFi/Bluetooth not turning on

Hello,
A few months ago I noticed I had trouble to switching WiFi/Bluetooth on on my xperia z3+ (lineage OS 14.1) : when I slide on the WiFi slider, it load "Turning WiFi on..." until it switch back to off by itself. I don't think it's because of software update because I actually stayed on the same firmware for a while where it initially worked then started having this issue. Updating didn't solve it.
What I tried :
-Google the issue, I saw other xperia users having the same problem on different models but I didn't manage to find a fix
-Safe mode
-Wipe everything and reinstalling fresh rom
-Tapping the WiFi button furiously for a while
I'm having internet problems at home, but I can't manage to share LTE to my computer successfully, and I suspect both issues to be linked.
I tought I should ask for help before officially declaring the phone physically dead, so here I am.
Thanks for reading, any answer is much appreciated. Sorry for the long post despite it just saying "WiFi bug plz help".
