OpenVPN connection prevents detecting home WiFi connection - Tasker Tips & Tricks

I am working to automate use of OpenVPN Connect with tasker such that coming home and connecting to my home WiFi network will disconnect the VPN and leaving my home WiFi network will connect the VPN on other WiFi networks. I have defined a task to disconnect the VPN and it works. The problem I am having is with the profile for my home WiFi network.
I created a profile detecting a connection to my home WiFi network by its SSID and MAC address which works fine when the VPN is not open. But when the VPN is open the profile is not active when connected to the home WiFi? Why is tasker not seeing the WiFi connection state when the VPN is open? If I run the task to disconnect the VPN manually the profile then goes active.
What am I missing? Why is an open VPN connection preventing tasker from detecting the WiFi connection?

In the WiFi connected context, change Active -> yes to Active -> any.

I would have thought that "any" would include cases where the specified network is not connected, but perhaps I am confused. I will try this and see.

Had the same issue. I stopped routing the network traffic through a VPN through Tasker and that fixed it. Whitelist Tasker in your VPN settings

Registry hack to disable proxy perminently?

I've set up "My Work Connection" to connect to the internet via my home wifi connection.
I don't use a proxy to connect, but frequently the device sets a proxy on this connection by itself.
Is there anywhere in the registry that refers to network connections? I would like to disable this "feature"
cheers

Forcing all network traffic to use the VPN over 3G

Hello,
I have no problem connecting to my VPN using PPTP over both WiFi and 3G.
The problem I am having is that when I use the 3G connection and VPN http requests are not routed through the VPN connection. When using the WiFi connection everything works as expected and http request are routed to my corporate network.
Now, I have set up the URL exceptions and think that I've done everything else I am supposed to (but obviously not). Does ANYONE know which registry settings need to be tweaked to force all traffic (or even just http) to use the VPN when connected to 3G?
Thanks in advance, Maxim.

[Q] Background data, 802.1x EAP

Hihi,
I've got my phone connected to an 802.1x EAP network at work - all the internet bits seem to be working, except there is no background syncing of data going on.
No blue wifi symbol, stays grey. Syncing works fine on WPA2 and open networks, as well as on mobile data.
I'm guessing its some port being blocked by the corporate network here, but tbh I have no idea why it wouldn't work the same as it does on every other kind of connection.
Any ideas on getting sync to work?
There is a WLAN setting where you can keep the WLAN alive during standby (I am set to German, but you can find it where you see your WLANs using the Menu "button").

Thanks for the response. Wifi is active and sync is turned on - it's just not synching, even as i'm using the internet i don't receive emails until i manually refresh on this network.

WIFI / Roaming / redirect calls / VPN

Hi,
my goal is to achieve the following: As soon as I get connected to my home WIFI the open VPN connection should be closed and all calls should be redirected to my landline phone. When my mobile phone looses connection to my WIFI for more than 60 seconds the call redirection should end and the open VPN connection should be reestablished. At my home site I've three access points and roaming works perfectly. There should be no action while roaming on my WIFI.
At the moment I've only created a task for the WIFI part. See attachment. But this task does not work very well. The problem is roaming between the access points. It constantly disables and enables the call redirection.
Any suggestions to get this working?
BTW: If there is a way to suppress the pop up which informs about the redirection is enabled or disabled without root is welcome too.
TIA

VPN metered connection

Whenever I'm connected to my vpn (surfshark), my s20fe registers my wifi connection as a metered one, which never happened on my previous two phones. I've set the particular wifi to be treated as unmetered through advanced settings, but it hasn't changed a thing, and various apps that I've set to require a wifi connection for backups/checks aren't working as a result. Is there a way to remedy this?
