Forcing LTE Band 3 on Honor 9 Lite - Honor 9 Lite Questions & Answers

Good morning,
first of all I want to thank you all for including me here in this community. I guess I'll be surfing this site many times, so I decided to register and give my contribution for the future if I ever came across scenarios regarding Android devices in general which may be useful for the community.
I'm here to ask a question: I've got a Honor 9 Lite mobile and my mobile network provider is Iliad, based in Italy.
The mobile network works like a charm in 2G and 3G mode, but when it comes to run in 4G, it won't work at all. I already unlocked the only 4G mode using the "Setting Database Editor", but that doesn't work at all.
Apparently, the only LTE band I can use is Band 3 (1800 MHz), but I can't find a way to force my mobile to use that specific band frequency when it's set to 4G mode. Does anyone have an idea of how to sort this issue out?
Many thanks in advance for any helps!
Eddie

[Q] Nexus One APN for STC (Saudi Telekom)

hi everyone
so im in riyadh for 3 months and i brought my Nexus One with me. most everything is working fine with my prepaid STC sim card, however I am not able to access the internet. the people at STC are clueless in why its not working and they don't even know what APNs are, lol. but the problem is obviously the APNs
Does anyone have the correct APNs for Nexus One on STC (Saudi Telecom Company)? I really don't want to buy another phone here, everything here is quite expensive!!! a nexus one is 2300 rials or ~620 USD!!!! any help will be greatly appreciated
Hi welcome to Riyadh
STC's APN is: jawalnet.com.sa
proxy is : proxy.jawalnet.com.sa
Port: 8080
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
thank you
thanks siddiqui, the internet now works however it goes off and on and i only get GPRS speeds. is it possible to get 3G service working? is there a different apn in order to get that? thanks in advance
Should be an APN setting issue, Are you sure you have the correct version of the N1 for your network?
p.s. this should be in the Q&A forum
i hope so, i bought the nexus one the second day it was introduced from google. at that time it was only available with the 1700 & 2100mhz (tmobile) 3g frequencies, which i assume is the international standard? i know a second version was introduced to worked with the 850 & 1900mhz (at&t)...so what am i doing wrong??
No I have the same version n I'm also getting some problems in the 3g network, its not your device's fault actually the STC's 3g network coverage is bad
There is only one APN for stc.
Why don't u try the other service provider MOBILY its much better than STC
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
i'd love to switch to mobily but when i went to mobily and asked their representatives whether its possible to transfer my number to them, they said its "too difficult and that i have to get a new number." which i find very strange considering its advertised on their website!!
raqme plan:
http://bit.ly/bWqOwj
unfortunately, its really important i keep this number. any other suggestions?

I thought the AT&T 850 & 1900 was stardard for international. The T-Mobile version bands was their own.
@futango is it? i don't know. because tmobile is a subsidiary of deutsche telekom which is present in a number of european countries, most of which do not support at&t 3g bands, but this is just an assumption because there are many 3g band frequencies out there
N1 in Riyadh
Please tell me where i can buy a nexxus one here in Riyadh
Thanks

its right across the street from the sahara mall (take imam abdulaziz rd), in the electronics district next to the ministry of communications. you can't miss it but be prepared to pay at least 2300+ SR
Guys I'm having a strange problem in my nexus one. I have a T-Mobile n1 with un rooted froyo 2.2
I have 3g network from STC and I'm getting internet in all my application except by browse, I can't brows any sites when connected to 3g or even 2g or edge, but I can check my gmail, gtalk, Facebook and all other sw.
What could be the problem? ?

[Q] How to Force N6 Into Using Band 12

Hello,
I'm with T-Mobile, and lucky enough to live in an area that has the new 700Mhz LTE Band 12.
My N6 is constantly using band 4. I would like to force it to switch over to band 12.
Is there a way?
Many thanks in advance.
Hi, please have a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3020672
Thank you for the reference link. Perusing through the whole thread, it just about people checking in popping up across the country.
But, no indication on how to force switch band.

Awesome. Thank you.
My pleasure. Good luck!

T-Mobile LTE signal

I just got the phone on Monday. With the original ROM and after taking several OTA updates, my LTE signal strength at home and at work was horrible. I'd get around -120 dBm and it would frequently change to HSPA and even EVDO.
One thing that I noticed is that on LTE, it was using band 4, which is 2100 MHz. On my Note 2, it always used band 14, which is 700 MHz. The lower frequency penetrates buildings better and gave me a better signal at work and home (not great, but useable).
I just updated to the latest T-Mobile ROM from the developer site. The LTE signal strength is a bit better at -116 dBm and so far, it isn't changing to HSPA or worse. However, it is still using band 4.
Does anyone know why my old phone used band 14 and this new phone uses band 4? I would think that the phone would use whichever band gave it the best signal, which would certainly be band 14. Is there any way to force this?
Thanks.
I didn't look up the Note 2's specs but I'd guess it didn't have band 4. What are you using to see your band? OpenSignal?

I just looked up the specs on Wikipedia. It says that the T-Mobile version uses band 17, but I know that the phone said band 14 before I swapped SIMs.
Wikipedia says the Nexus 6 uses bands 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 7 / 12 / 13 / 17 / 25 / 26 / 29 / 41.
This is from the T-Mobile Support site: "TMO uses bands 2 and 4 on LTE/4G & 3G". Also from Support: "LTE band 4(1700/2100), 17(700)". I'm not sure what to believe, or what is in use around here. Like I said above, I know that the Note 2 said it was using band 14.
On the Nexus 6, I'm using an app called LTE Discovery.
T mobile only uses band 2,4,12 for LTE. The note 2 doesn't support band 12. I never heard of band 14.

I'm by no means an expert when it comes to bands/frequencies, however, if the app told you the Note 2 was on band 14, I think it was lying to you. I'm pretty sure there isn't even a band 14 in the U.S., and almost positive T-Mobile does not run LTE on that band.
When (if) band 12 reaches your neighborhood receiption indoors should improve drastically. On band 4 I usually get -109 to -101 dBm. On band 12 I get around -89 to -94 dBm.
I have tried different ROMs and different radio modems. Nothing I do gets me a decent signal. Very occasionally I have had a moderately strong LTE signal, but even then, the download speed is only usable and the upload speed sucks.
The phone doesn't stay on LTE for long. It switched to HSPA and even EVDO most of the time. On HSPA, my old Note 2 got at least 2 Mb downloads. This N6 can't even get a kilobyte down on HSPA.
I don't know if it really affects things, but I read some comments that a bad SIM could possibly cause this. Is this true? If so, I'll drop by the T-Mobile store again and ask them to try another SIM.
I love the phone for the big screen and other features, but I really can't live with this lousy data connection. If I can't get this resolved, I'll have to return the N6 and buy another phone.
I might consider a Note 5 if I have to. It only has a 5.7 inch screen, but my Note 2 had a 5.5 incher. I don't really use the pen and the price premium is high, but I don't know what other phones have a 5.7-6 inch display, except for some Chinese phones. I don't know if they are any good, or if I could use them on T-Mobile.
Call me frustrated.
have you verified apn settings? mine needed a few changes. band 12 should be rolling out soon. i saw it for a day here in portland and service was amazing. can't wait!

not sure. saw a few people on reddit mentioning they had seen it in my area. i have been using an app called lte discovery to check what band i am on. 12 only popped up once and haven't seen it since.

Yes, I am on T-Mobile. I meant Edge, not EVDO. Too many acronyms.
I just got home and even though the phone is currently showing three bars on LTE, the signal level is only -118 dBm, which isn't good. Speed test won't even do 1/2 Mb/s on download. This is pathetic.
As much as I otherwise like this phone, I can't live with this lousy signal issue. Unless someone knows of a fix, I will have to return the phone to Amazon. As I said, I have tried different ROMS and modems. I have also tried changing various settings that others have suggested (clearing cache, APN settings, etc.). I don't know what else to do.

Because of the choppy voice calls, as well as the lousy data connection, I am returning this phone and getting a Note 5. Although it is my personal phone, I also need a reliable phone for when I am on call at work.
I have spent all week on this and can't waste any more time. I need something that works. My Note 2 was reliable. I hope the Note 5 will be also.
Thanks to all for suggestions.
I too am having LTE data connection issues on LYZ28K. Anyone on LMY48M having data issues? I tried setting phone info to "LTE only", but that didn't help. I don't need wifi calling, so I'm wondering if I should switch to LMY48M?

Has anyone tried enabling bands with QPST?

I have a question for all the lucky ones of you who have a Mi Mix.
With most of the Xiaomi phones which are released, people are unhappy about the lack of band support for regions outside of China. I know many people in Europe are unhappy about not having Band 20, those of us in Japan would really like to have UMTS Band 6/19 (among others), Australians want LTE Band 28, and people in the US would like Band 12/17.
As you may know, with some phones, it's possible to unlock these bands by putting the phone into diag mode and using Qualcomm tools like QPST. Here in Japan, it was possible to enable the UMTS Bands 6 and 19 on the Mi5 and the Mi Max, but not possible on the Redmi Note 3 or the Mi5S, so it's really case by case.
Seeing as that the Mi Mix is a concept phone people are crazy about all over the world, I am very curious whether it's possible to enable LTE bands and WCMDA bands on the Mi Mix. I don't want to spend the big money to buy one without first having confidence that I can get it to work on my carrier's bands.
So I'd like to start this discussion. Has anyone tried anything? Successes, failures, please post them all!

This (QPST) is something I have no experience with, but, interested in the subject:
I'm good with the band support (for now) as what's available in my area, with my carrier,is supported (Bands 2 &4 on T-Mobile US,no Band 12 or 66 yet),definitely would be nice for at least Band 12,if possible,as I believe my area will get it eventually.
One side note & a positive one at that:
My MiMix locks-in on a signal & has better/stronger connections than any phone I've used to date. This was really noticeable while commuting back & forth to work today, unbelieveable signal quality.
IDK if the ceramic body is better vs other materials, but, recent flagships from HTC/Samsung/LG pale in comparison vs this phone.
i have MI MIX in hand.
I think we need MIX Diag Driver to make it recognize from pc. MI5 Diag drivers are not the same

I've heard the Mi5 diag drivers were usable on the Mi5S, which is the same SD 821, so that's strange. What happens when you put it in diag mode and plug it in? Can I see a screenshot from device manager, or some evidence of what the device is?

I've got one in hand in the states (where I actually do need to unlock band 12 for T-mobile) and a patch cable I made handy in case this thing goes brick mode from us trying stuff, I'm game to be the guinea pig for science.
Fair warning though, while I'm a web developer that's very comfy with terminal, I'm new to the android ADB world, so pretty detailed instructions / links to guides will be needed ha!

this is what I have gathered from various sources (so yes Band 4 is both LTE and 3g)
Tmobile
LTE Frequencies:
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2
Lower 700 MHz band 12
3G/4G Frequencies (WCDMA):
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2
2G Frequencies (GSM/GPRS/EDGE):
1900 MHz PCS band 2
ATT
AT&T 4G HSPA and HSPA+ use 850Mhz(Band 5) and 1900Mhz(Band 2) bands
LTE uses Band 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz),
Band 4(1700/2100Mhz)
LTE B29 (700)
LTE B30 (2300 WCS)

Yes....was just giving the bands and frequencies I know for two GSM carriers in the US. Monitoring the bands at various locations by something like signal check lite (much easier to use/read than lte discovery IMO) would be only way to tell.. If I recall correctly this device has 3g at 850,900,1800,1900 so there is no band 4 on 3g it seems... Although band 4 (1700/2100) COULD be a 3g band too for some devices. Someone with better knowledge can chime in here. I might be wrong.

Update: I have actually successfully forced band twelve with NV values (I can see it stick and unwind the value to see that band 12 is allowed after a reboot). I followed about 10 diff guides to get my bearing on working with the Qualcomm editors and maintenance programs.
Sad to say: the modem in the Mix simply won't do band 12. I talked with a few folks from the Xiaomi Reddit Discord and they confirmed my suspicions that with Xiaomi (with a few exceptions) it is usually hardware that's keeping you off of a band.
I don't personally think there's any amount of software hackery we can do to get bands unlocked.
Edit: I am quite comfortable in ADB / SU and am happy to try any and all suggestions out on my phone in addition to what I've tried already btw. Please do let me know if there's something you think I may have missed following the various unlock threads.

Sorry to hear that the band could not be tapped into...
yes most likely a hardware thing-like Samsung (some of their models exclusively for Latin america have u.s bands but the 'international' variants of the same models will not do the U.S bands no matter what...
I actually opened one of them (got a damaged T239M) and found indeed that the motherboard is different...(so much speculation and folks asking/trying to flash S. American firmware on like the T705, T239 etc, myself included (not possible anyway even if going through TWRP and flashing modem files etc...bootloader and pit all different..so nothing would change with the other parts of the firmware)
so it is highly likely in this case that the modem will not do bands 12, 17 (ATT) and 29, 30 (ATT). However, it is impressive that for a China phone this will even do bands 2, 4 and 5. Huawei models (again supposedly international) except for some variants of the smaller 5-5.2 inch models (not p9, p8, P8 max, x2, t3, t3 pro, or m3 (some of these are the tablet phone types) and numerous other Chinese phones will not do anything more than 1, 3, 7 and then maybe 8 and 20 or a 28. (all useless for North America). Huawei has an M2 variant that has US bands and also on their smaller phones (certain versions)
so for the Mix, you at least have LTE 2, 4 and 5 (though of lesser importance).

I would love to, it's the first thought I had when both starting a new guide and when I finished getting the phone to look for band 12.
I'm currently _buried_ in a project for work right now (it's taking my nights and a lot of sleep from me ha), so nothing soon. But it's on my list of first contributions I'd like to make to this awesome community!
Would you be able to try Band 20 ?
Thanks

So far my experience is that if the band isn't listed in those spec sheet it isn't there in the hardware (apparently a very Xiaomi thing to do). I'm finding that they rarely software lock you out of the bands, it's usually that their hardware simply doesn't support the band.

Can't connect to 4G / LTE

Hi everyone,
My P9 (L09C432 ver.) cannot connect to 4g even though it has the supported bands to do so. Specifically, I am trying to connect to Freedom Mobile in Canada who uses band 4 & 7. Much help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I have P10 Plus, and im in the same boat. My friend's Oneplus One has LTE. I think this has something to do with Huawei, not the carrier.
there is also a reddit thread
