4 years old and still kicking - Galaxy Tab S General

I just read on Android Authority that a Tab S 4 will be released soon. I have the original Tab S 10.5 tablet. It's 4 years old this month. I bought it when it first was available. I'm using it now to write this comment. It's still working great and looks as good as new. The only thing I did was replace the battery about a year ago. No need for me to waste money on the latest and greatest when what I have is still working fine.

I have the SM-T807A and also still working, however trying to 'kick it up' because for me it's running slow. At least for what I'm using it for [browsing, many tabs open]
Using LL (5.0.2) instead of MM because I'm looking for the best speed I can get.
Rooted a long time ago, just now getting around to debloating it.
In general I'm satisfied but when using some apps there is quite a wait time, mainly calendar tell the truth. Perhaps I'll install another app.. However browsing is my main issue as I like to have as many tabs as possible open when I'm browsing/researching/etc. Again, of course, should install a super-lightweight browser to determine how well this would work.
I may try MM again in the future, either way I'll use this until it turns into dust!
Happy you're still using your tablet, too many just put them in a drawer/closet and forget about them.

I am using my T705 almost every day, and still very pleased. It is exciting to see that a new MM stock ROM with June 2018 security patch is currently rolled out (DBT, AUT, SEE, SIO, BGL). Hopefully, ROMs for the other Tab S devices will follow soon.
Best, maris

I use my Tab S every morning mostly reading news, browsing the web and social media stuff for about 2 hours. I occasionally play game. I noticed a slow down, but after I replaced the battery last year it perked back up. I have no complaints about it's performance considering it's a 4 year old device. No way will I pay $650 for a new tablet when what I have works fine for what I use it for.

I got mine for 400USD in late 2014, and very sadly, I haven't seen a better tablet for the same price since then. In fact, it seems like the the Android tablet market has gone to toilet since then. The S2 was a disappointment for _many_ reasons, no way a Tab S user could see it as an upgrade. The S3 is nice, but Samsung folks want to charge laptop prices for it. Even today, the one and a half year old Tab S3 price has not dropped down significantly below 500USD, even though S4 was already announced. The budget-friendly or "midrange" Android tablets have very poor internal specs and serious limitations but you often see them priced almost like an iPad.

Surprised to be prompted to install a software update the other day for T700 BTU, last one was the initial MM update. Build date is 13/06/2018 but Android security patch level is 1 August 2017. WTF Samsung?

My T800 is still going strong too. I bought it when it was first released also. I use mine almost everyday to browse the www. I still have not replaced the battery in it because it still works alright. I also will not be buying the new S4 either. At 650$ Samsung is crazy! Just my 2 cents!
P.S. Anyone have a line on a replacement battery when the time comes? I have searched high and low and all I can find is China crap batteries on fleabay!

To build a firmware this recently but not include the fix for KRACK vulnerability in wi-fi (fixed late in 2017) is a crime.

Just picked up a SM-T835 (LTE) Model and im kind of regretting it. as my TAB S 8.4 SM-T705 LTE Model is my daily driver.. it's still running like a champ over 3500 chargers dischargers i was planning to make it my daily driver the TAB S4 but its slightly to big yeah i know...... lol..

If you like the smaller size, it might have been a good idea to look at Huawei Mediapad M5 with 8.4 screen. It has its flaws (no 3.5mm jack, bluetooth doesn't work well with wifi on) but I think it's the highest end small Android tablet officially distributed in the US.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not AMOLED, plus i need a solid Bluetooth connection, as I just picked up Sony MDR1000XM2 headphones it ain't even got aptx hd from a quick google search I think I'll stuck with samsung and sony..

Hello. I consider to buy SM-T805 LTE to watch Netflix movies (due to 16:10 ratio) . Is a good idea in 2018? Will brand new (I am able to buy one) have full battery power? Is there original MM for SM-T805 or is there DRM Level1 support in open ROMs?

Netflix / Amazon prime app not work good on this tab even it has level 1 support due to old soc.

I have used Prime movies on my T800 and it worked fine.
Check your wifi connection speed if you get choppy playback.

I am not sure how you arrived to this conclusion because my T800 works just fine with Netflix and Amazon prime. In fact, the Tab S is one of extremely few Android tablets that's approved by Netflix for full HD playback. The SoC may be old, but it's pretty much all you need to decode H264 (Full HD mpeg) stream

No idea but i dont get Full hd on Netflix. Device also heat and drain battery faster. No such issues on my LG v30

If you're getting full hd on LG v30 but not on the tablet while both are connected to the same wifi hot spot, then there could be a hardware or software problem with the tablet.

Still using and loving my 10.5" T-800. I have wiped everything Samsung, software wise, and use Lineage OS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2) as it has great stability and performance and it does a pretty good job of keeping up with security patches (currently have August 2018 patch). What a fantastic tablet this is.

Moving from TF700 to TF701

I have had a TF700 for exactly 1 year and 2 months, but two weeks ago the motherboard got fried due to my stupidity and I decided I needed a new tablet. The 700 CROMIX served me well and it had done everything I wanted it to with a few frustration.
I looked at the Samsungs, Kindles, Google Nexus 10, and the TF701. After a week of looking at all these I decided that
- Samsung was too expensive. Nice machines, but I was just not willing to pay the difference
- Kindles are also nice but a little small for me and I felt like I would always be fighting the Amazon controls they put on the device. HW wise it was the lightest machine with the best screen.
- Google Nexus 10 seemed a little too similar to the 701 and it had a little lesser specs (CPU and no MicroSD). Maybe I would wait for the NEW version, but it did not look like it is coming anytime soon (hopefully summer) and my guess is that it will be in the $500+ range
- So since the 701 has a better screen, better CPU, and very attractive price ($359 at amazon), I decided to go with it
Got the tablet and really did not wait: Upgraded to 4.3, Unlocked the bootloader, and installed CROMiX 6.0.1a on it. 20 minutes and I was good to go. I was really surprised how much faster than my 700 it is. I knew that the 1.9MHZ is better than the 700's 1.6 but I had the 700 overclocked and with the increased resolution, I expected they would be close. But the performance difference is really noticeable. I cannot comment on CROMiX vs the Stock in terms of how much the performance improvement is the optimized ROM because I did not really run the stock long enough. But this thing just flies. Boat browser with flash works great. My 16GB MicroSD worked great, the restore from Titanium worked great. My Nova settings were there and worked without trouble. Netflix does not stutter at all or Google movies or Mx Player. The battery was horrible after my first charge (lasted less than 8 hours) but also I was messing with it the whole time. After that, it looks like it goes about 2.5-3 hours per 1% in sleep and I would say it is a bit better than my 700 while on. The ROM has a "reading mode" that seems to slow down battery consumption while reading my Kindle app, but I am not sure how much better it is.
Just wanted to share my experiences with the TF701. Not saying it is the best machine out there, but for the price, I am very happy and cannot imagine the added cost for the other models would buy me that much. All the features of the 700 with the added performance and better screen. Very happy.

Wow! Many thanks for the donation! That is very kind of you.

My last tablet was the TF101 so I cant complain. My reasoning was the same as jhermit. Its the 701 just happens to be the one. With its high resolution, reflections, and so on. A good buy. The Samsung was the white one everywhere. Otherwise I would have gotten it. The white color really through me off of buying it. Can't figure that one out.
The TF701T keeps dropping in price, it may be the one to get.

I also have upgraded and have a few thoughts to add.
1. The docking station is all plastic, where the tf700t was metal. The plastic seems cheaper and typing and using the touchpad sounds plasticy, but the keyboard does type a bit easier.
2. The USB port on the base station is very very tight. I feel like I'm going to break it when I'm inserting and removing plugs.
3. The lack of vibration in the tablet is a bit of a let-down. I would have preferred to have the option.
4. The Micro USB port on the tablet is very tight and hard to get a card back out. It might be specific to my unit, but it's still an issue for me.
5. There are better brightness and performance options on the tf700t, but that may be part of the older OS as well.
6. The tablet dock hings has a lot more play/wobble in it. I read elsewhere that this was a design reason but it's floppy when I'm carrying the tablet around with the screen open.
7. Chrome was brutally bad on the tf700t; laggy, slow to load things, etc on both stock and custom ROMs. It appears that the extra horsepower in the tf701t has taken care of that problem.
So far so good on the custom ROM with xposed framework settings. I've restored all settings using Titanium Backup and am happy with it so far.
I got the TF701 a couple days ago (no keyboard) and it's great, I see no down side at all yet and I still have the TF700 running better than it ever has with Crombi-kk. [emoji41]

Never used a camera on a tablet, ever, so I couldn't tell you but everything else is better.
I don't use the camera either. I'm sure a very high percentage of buyers don't either. Not a selling point for me.

Take a trip to a top tourist destination, marvel and cringe!
I work in tourism and I see more of them every month! And all of them look utterly, totally stupid if you ask me.
The only thing worse are telescopic extensions handles for the iPhone with some kind of trigger build into it's handle to take pictures and videos. Saw about a dozen of those **** in Las Vegas the other night. And for some reason I'm totally convinced that 99.9% of those pictures land in the recycling bin.... Or they should....

Actually that kind of makes sense as the 701 has USB3.0 on the KBD Dock.
Currently on a TF201
I'm currently on a TF201 Transformer Prime that I've had for about two years now. I't currently running Crombi-KK quite nicely but...I'm looking for something else. I've pretty much narrowed things down to either a Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 or the TF 701. There aren't a lot of reviews out there on the Tegra 4 based devices while of course the Enyos 5420 in the Galaxy tab is unique to Samsung. Have any of you had the opportunity to try both devices? Has anyone had an opportunity to use both a Tegra 4 (like the TF701) and a Snapdragon 800 based device. what little I'm finding seems to say that performance wise it would be 1. snapdragon 800, 2. Enyos 5420 and 3. tegra 4 ....but also that the differences aren't that great???
Right now I'm seeing the TF701 on Amazon for $354 and the Samsung for $399 so the prices are not that far off. On the other hand I always loved the keyboard dock on my Prime and with the TF701 I could have that again...for $130 on Amazon taking the total cost to $484. Of course with the Samsung I'd probably end up with some sort of Bluetooth keyboard, so in the end, when the accessories I would want are factored in, they cost about the same. (EDIT: I see that the Samsung is only 16 GB storage while the Asus is 32 - advantage Asus except that the Samsung has a micro SD slot and I've got a couple of 64 GB Sandisk Ultras kicking around so that probably isn't critical)
On the pro side the Asus is known unlockable (correct me if I'm wrong) where the Samsung probably isn't??? With my Prime, I stuck with it locked until the warranty ran out then unlocked it and put Hairy Bean on it and more recently Crombi-KK. So having those options available for the future is also a plus.
On the down side, as much as I have loved my Prime, its always had some annoyances. My WiFi was never as bad as others complain of but its never been great either. Sitting in my living room with my router almost directly under me on the floor below, my Motorola phone and my wife's HP laptop get right around the full 30 Mbps we have incoming from our ISP. My prime gets 8 - 10 Mbps which should be adequate most of the time except...the lag loading web pages. Hariy Bean and now Crombi-KK seem to improve things, but my phone (Morotrola Droid Maxx on Android 4.4) is still way smoother. Of course the GPS never really worked very well - which would be a big problem for me on a phone but not such a big deal on the tablet. Has Asus managed to correct those things on the TF701? While the Tegra 4 sounds good, I wouldn't want to have a tablet where they just stuck a faster CPU in the same old device.
Guess what I'm really looking for is a new Transformer Prime that's both faster and corrects all the annoyances I've had with the TF201. Does the TF 701 accomplish that? Given that the Samsung is about the same price when I include the accessories I want, does that change your opinion?

Just go ahead and choose the TF701! I did not have older asus tablets, but from the comments I have read since this forum was launched, all the issues that older Asus tablets had were solved. However, I would advise you to make sure that the keyboard you are going to buy is built recently ( ??/2014). Some people are experiencing disconnections between the dock and the tablet. For me I have a 09/2013 build but fortunately everything works as it should

Thinking of ditching my Nvidia Shield Tablet and jumping on a Tab S

Title say's it all really.
I bought my Shield thinking game streaming from my PC would be fun, but I hardly ever use it. I expected the Shield to be a killer tablet and although it has plenty of power I'm sick of the bugs, glitches and general lag. The battery is not that great and I find the aspect ratio and size a little bit annoying. To be honest it's been a bit disappointment.
I just recently upgraded my phone from Galaxy S2 (I know old) to a Galaxy A5 and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with with Samsungs updates, my phone feels way smoother and nicer to use than my shield, so much so that I'm thinking of selling it and getting a Tab S, most probably 10.5. I've been reading and watching plenty of reviews and I'm liking it more and more.
What do you guys think? Should I jump ship? I think I'm basically looking for some reassurance that it's a good thing to do! lol

i saw the nvidia shield and i really didnt care for it at all.. it was quite big for what it does and didnt seem special at all.. you can do the same and more with a tab s and the screen is a lot larger and its a ton lighter.. i do have the t807v which isnt rootable but i use it as a media/gaming tablet and it lasts for a long time on a full charge. it is snappy even though the t807v doesnt have root..
with that being said, id say it depends on which version you get since a rootable tablet clearly would make it even easier for you to decide.
i use ps4 remote play on the tablet and it works great (even without pairing a ps4 controller)

I'm used to having tablets with a 10" screen, so the Shield was a bit of downgrade in that area. Also after looking at the lovely screen on my Sammy A5 the Shield looks pale and a little washed out in comparison.
I'm annoyed with the Shield as it seems like an effort to have to get things working, and the lag is really bad at times. On my Galaxy A5 everything just works as it should and I don't really need to tinker that much. I'm also quite enjoying touchwiz, it's improved a lot since the days of my Galaxy S2, and TBH I'm quite sick of vanilla android, I always root and install custom firmware on my devices, and it's the reason why I've managed to keep my S2 going for so long, but touchwiz actually feel's like a breath of fresh air at the moment. But I'll probably end up installing custom ROMs on my phone/tab in a year or so anyway (once I tire of touchwiz).
I'd definitely want be rooting my Tab S if I were to get one, so I'll have to avoid the t807v. How many different version/models are there? I'm in the UK so will that make a difference to any region specific versions?
Also how long does the Tab S take to charge? The Shield takes between 2-4 hours to get a full charge, but my new phone the Galaxy A5 went from 3% to 80% in about half hour so I'm pretty impressed.
Go for it ! And the Tab S 10.5 has a really good battery life
I actually went for the 8.4, compared side by side with the 10.5 and I found the 8.4 much lighter and comfortable to use.
The screen and battery size difference weren't a deal breaker for me. All other specs are the same.
Make sure your new Tab arrives in a sealed box, and with a charged battery.
If your battery is next to none or empty, it may be unable to use it's full capabilities.

There's an T805 which is an international one but has little development (CM based roms and such) and if you play games and such, the tab s sends to get warm near the camera. There is an SM-T800 (10.5 wifi), SM-T700 (8.4 wifi) and so on. Typically it takes 2-4 hours to charge fully, but I don't keep track so around that. There's no quick charge for us ?
You could wait a bit as new tablets are coming out this summer. So you might see prices go down ?
The one I was looking to get is the T800, is that one and to root?

Even better news! xD
I'll have to get reading in the forums to find out how to root this baby...now I cant decide if I should order one on line and save myself some money or just buy one from the shop across the road! lol
Well i have one now... went and bought it from the local store!
I have 45 days to see if I like it, already rooted and so far so good
For what its worth, I had the Shield for a few months, just returned it and got an 8.4. The Shield was good for gaming but suffered from lag after lollipop hit. Wifi was bad as well. I was willing to live with it until a crack appeared in the volume button area. I then gave up and got the 8.4.
I'm learning to live with Touchwiz - its not terrible. The rest of the tablet runs smoothly.
I like the shield, but I hardly ever use if for gaming, I bought the control pad and game streaming wasn't as fantastic as I thought it would be.

I know the A5 is only mid range, but I'm really happy with it. It had the right specs and performance that I was looking for and within my price budget.
I have the Tab S now (typing this from it) and so far so good, it's taking me a little while to get used to going back to a bigger screen but it is beautiful to look at (especially compared to the Shield Tablet).
I'm rooted and looking for a good ROM and possibly lollipop.

I guess that's all that matters. I probably would have picked up a used S4 or something on Swappa. Anyway you will love your Tab S, 10.5. I purchased mine the first day they were available. I am rooted but I have not installed a custom ROM. This is my first Android device I have not installed a ROM. So far, especially with Lollipop I am happy with it the way it is. That may change down the road if someone makes a ROM that has a significant improvement on performance.
I think I'm on my 6th, maybe even 7th android device now! I'm just looking at the stock lollipop Roms, deciding whether to try one out or wait for the official UK one from Sammy.
I had the Shield Tablet LTE. It did everything well but the battery couldn't last me over 6 hours on average. I was envious of my friends having the Tab S with their beautiful Super AMOLED screens. Finally, I decided to trade it in for a Tab S 8.4. I love the Tab S and so far it's done everything that the Shield could do. It's performance on gaming isn't up to par with the Shield but otherwise everything else is equal if not better than the Shield tablet. I'm glad the battery of the Tab S 8.4 could last me close to 9 hour on average.
Well so far I'm loving 10.5 Tab S, I'm rooted and running Lollipop 5.0.2. The screen is amazing and I much prefer the size over the 8 inch Shield, the colours are really vibrant and it's light and really thin, it's a joy to use.
Like you said, it's not quite as good for gaming as a shield but to be honest I don't care, I don't think hard core gaming on a small device is really that impressive so I'll stick to my PC for that.
My Shield is all packed up and ready to be sent back to Amazon today, to be honest I'm happy to see it go and I don't regret my decision at all!

How long S5 hardware will last?

Hi guys, im happy me with this device. I dont wanna switch to S7 yet and my question is will the hardware speca gonna run everything well till S8 comes?
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I kept my S3 mini until the S6 went out, and it was very smooth with custom roms.
The main thing that improves year after year is the camera quality, the ROM, and the nice to have hardware options (fingerprint, waterproof, shockproof gets better...). However, thanks to the xda community, we always have the latest ROMs for our devices. It is very likely that we will have roms for android N, then O when they will be available. Furthermore, we already have all the recent technologies, like NFC, so our device shouldn't be outdated in terms of hardware unless a really essential new technology comes out.
So, it is very probable that your S5 will last at least until the S8 comes.
S5 is fine with Marshmallow and probably going to be fine with the next iteration of Android N. After that who knows. You might need to switch to newer hardware then.
The hardware will be fine for years to come however whether or not it'll still be supported by the dev community is largely unknown and not likely.

Should last for 5 years. And more.
It depends if you are botherd about updates or not.
Because galaxy S5 gets 2 major updates from Samsung.
Or you can install custom ROMS for new major updates.
But small updates like security patches should get for few more years.
Even budget smartphones for £70 can run fast and smooth for normal use.
But for high end games and best camera you need flagship spec's then get Galaxy S7.
And some people got galaxy S3 and S4 and it's running fine.
Does android 6 Marshmallow lag on galaxy S5?
No, actually i really love the device now. Lollipop was bad and i was dissapointed but now everything is so smooth.
About the updates, if there is custom roms im fine. My 5yr old Xperia P still has some customs and its mid-range phone when it was new.

I don't know about the quality of the components and the lasting usability of them but I know that I still got my Galaxy S1 i9000 since summer 2010 and it's working the same since back then. In the next summer it'll be 6 years since I got it.
A few months ago I got myself an S5 Neo and I'm very happy with it, I dropped it by mistake on a stone then bumped into water and it doesn't have a single scratch or glitch although this version of S5 doesn't have a protection cover to the USB port.
Well i wont use it 5 years more but my question is will it run everything next 2 years smth like that.
Sent from my SM-G900M using Tapatalk
? The hardware will last until it dies, no-one can tell you that answer
Could die today, could die in 10 years
Not this type of dying. I mean outdated and slow to run high end games for example.
Sent from my SM-G900M using Tapatalk
Not sure what you're asking, no-one has a crystal ball, no-one knows when new high end games are going to flood the play store and what specs they'll need, apart from the people making them
Why not look at the history of the Galaxy S series and see how long they lasted before they couldn't run the latest games

If you want to play the latest games on VR virtual reality then you need galaxy S7.
All games should run fine on galaxy S5.
And it's upto developer if he wants to make his games more power and 3D. Only time will tell.
But for normal use it can last for over 5 years or even more.
According to my views S5 G900F this is a workhorse and regarding product design this is quite good.
In the question which part of it will fail first? This is USB Micro B connector / charging port.
I made the choice to get original S-View wireless charging case, this will reduce USB Micro B connector wear in long term.

My N7 finally died, what is everyone switching to?

Hey everyone,
My old N7, which I bought way back when it was brand new, has finally left my service. The system could barely boot anymore, even after F2FS and ParrotMod, nothing could bring life back into it. Once apps started to crash I knew it was time, and have sold it to a friend who wants it for parts.
Is there a good (or honestly, not so good) device that people are switching to? The 2013 N7 is price prohibitive (honestly, $120 - $200 for a 4 year old tablet?) but I'd like something that is in the 7-8" range and can handle HD video decoding. Root and custom roms would be great, but if there's nothing out there then I'll settle. The Neutab N7S Pro doesn't look too bad, and at least I won't be forced to use Amazon's apps, but today is the first I've heard of them, so I'm a bit hesitant.
Thanks for any input!
Didn't find a substitution yet. That's the reason I am trying to keep it running as long as possible. Todays alternatives are either bloated (e.g. Samsung) or do not have current Android versions installed (e.g. Asus Zenpad S8.0, Huawai Media Pad M3) or suffer from technical issues (low RAM, low resolution)... not speaking about updates and security patches
Nowadays it's very difficult to find something like the Nexus 7 provided already 5 years ago.
Edit: regarding the Neutab N7S Pro: are you kidding? The specs are worse than the specs from the Nexus 7 (2012)
Amazon provide some great tabs at great prices... except the ecosystem. also lack of agps. frankly i am not happy with n7 2012 and n7 2013 being again made by asus... i am not sure about the quality either.
my best bet would be take a look at lineage os supported tab so that at least community support is guaranteed
SHEILD K1 by NVIDIA? It's not bad, but it also has it's own kinks and stuff, and is pretty stock too.

Agree! I would buy a SHIELD too. The best 8" tablet IMO

5 years old this month and still kicking.

I purchased my 10.5 new five years ago this month. But it's starting to show it's age. When it started slowing down about two years ago I installed a new battery and it was like new again. It's starting again, but I don't think I'm going to bother getting a new battery because there is another issue. I use it everyday, and about once or twice a week it just completely shuts down while using. No combination of buttons will get it to boot. The only solution is to connect it to the charger. Once I do that it will boot up and work fine again. I'm using stock ROM now for the past year but I used Lineage for a couple of years in the past. I may try it again to see if that will make a difference. In the mean time, I purchased the latest iPad mini. I'm not a fan of ios but I purchased it specifically to use with my expensive DJI drone. I'm finding myself using it for other purposes now but I much prefer Android. So today I'm expecting delivery of a 2019 Gallaxy Tab A 10.1. I don't want to pay a lot on another tablet again if I can find a decent fairly cheap device that does what I use it for. The one issue I had with my Tab S is the stupid 16gb of RAM on a $600 tablet. The Tab A has 64gb.
I have Oreo on mine with LineageOS as my daily driver. I highly recommend it, you'll be glad you did. I feel like it was given a new lease on life. I'm considering an S5e for my next but I can confidently say the Galaxy S Tab is definitely still rocking out after 5 years, I was just discussing this very thing with a friend.

Does Netflix work on the version you're running? If so, do you have a link to it? That's the one app my fiancee NEEDS.
anyone looking for a 5 year old one that is still rocking head to Swappa or Ebay - my rare T705M is for sale (this is the Latin American version that gets the U.S LTE bands - cellular voice calling like the 705 but better due to the band coverage)
swappa listing LRVC37794 or search SM-T705M on EBay

I had Lineage for quite awhile. I went back stock for about a year, but I just flashed Lineage again a few days ago. Don't remember why I went back to stock because without all of the Samsung bloat it runs smoother.

I use it every morning. Before I get out of the bed, I use it to read the news and social media. I also play a couple of games. I just flashed Lineage a few days ago and it's running much smoother again. I purchased a Tab A 10.1 a couple of weeks ago but I returned it, because even though it's much newer, it was too much of a downgrade, especially the screen. The only thing better was that it had 64gb of storage compared to the Tab S 16gb.
I'm using my since February 2015, if I remember correctly ... . It's still running like a Swiss clockwork
I'm on DarkExistence lineage because his AICP seems discontinued since a while already. My favorite was SLIM at the beginning.
The next tab could be S5 without “e“, if it gets so light and thin like S5e but with pen and hw power like like S4 ... .

My T800 10.5" is 5 years old this November, I have used it virtually every day and i am still on my first battery, I only watch video`s and read ebooks so nothing that`s hard on the tablet like some modern games can get the tablet very hot and drain the battery quick is not good if you want it to last a long time.

Hello, with that use of yours, how much longer do you think you can have left, another 5 years? I also use it for multimedia and nothing else. My tab S 8.4 is 4 and a half years old and the battery is 1 year old because I changed it to a new and official first quality one. I am very happy with the quality of your screen and with its battery, it easily reaches 10 hours of screen in a week of use watching Netflix basically

I cannot really say how much battery life it has lost but it must have lost something, I only use it for an hour or so a day before i go to sleep i try and protect the battery with a special charging regime to keep my battery alive as long as possible.
I think my battery will just fail suddenly in the next couple of years, But the battery`s are easily enough to replace after watching a few youtube video`s
