Yes, you can.
[Tools, Tips & Tutorials] Unbrick Bootloop/Flashing Official Fastboot ROM for Mi5 with Locked Bootloader
Type this in google and the first result will be the thread from en.miui.com. Just follow the steps from that thread.
And yes, this rom is unofficial, full of bloatware rom.
(Can't post links )
Yes you can. Just have a visit to the official miui forum. Go to the devices, select MI5/Pro, Go to the tips and tutorials and you should see a post called. Just follow that. It worked for me. Bootloader locked and unlocked does not matter!
Unbrick Bootloop/Flashing Official Fastboot ROM for Mi5 with Locked Bootloader
Yeah my phone also use this version, bought my phone from malaysia. But i already flash china stable rom.
How does it take to get response from miui team for unlocking request ?
Again, can I request them more than one time ?
Can someone tell me the full procedure of unlocking bootloader ?
I meant the conditions and how I should start ?
Do I need to be in Dev rom ? Or it's okay to be in Global Stable to get approved unlocking request ?
Let, I'm approved to unlock my bootloader. Then what should I do ? Need I to flash Dev Rom first to start unlocking with unlock tool ?
I'm a noob here in Mi devices.
Please someone tell me from the start.
I'd be happy if someone let me knock him via PM.
Thank You all.
Greetings to XDA Community,
Xiaomi really make the worst announcement ever on MIUI Forum. It is posted by Administrator called DinaDuan. The message are as follows :
"Dear Mi Fans,
Here's something VERY important before you flash or update the ROM.
1. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Chinese market are not able to run MIUI Global ROM.
2. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Global markets are not able to run MIUI China ROM.
We highly recommend you to buy Xiaomi Phones via official or authorized sales channels and double check the system infomation before flashing or updating.
Thank you for understanding
MIUI Team."
What do you think about this issue? Will china phones user still able to use Global ROM after this?

I think they are full of horsesh*t because i'm running a Global ROM on a Chinese version phone. You just can't lock the bootloader or it will brick.

But you can install global rom, it's just impossible to lock BL again, you have to back to chinese rom to lock it!
With this new announcement, does it mean that we can still flash the xiaomi.eu ROM?
I have a phone on the way from china with the global rom flashed onto it
I'm a bit worried now

I almost regret buying this chinese phone. First, they introduced bootloader locking issue then edl authorization and now this! Xiaomi is becoming worst than I thought.
Will this be implemented for all Xiaomi phones?
unlock your bootloader and you can flash it
I think that Xiaomi is just taking that load out of his conscience.
Reminding people that if they brick is not their fault but yours.
I agree with you, a lot of people flesh before they read any instructions and end up with bricked device.
I bought a Xiaomi mi 8 from GeekBuying some days ago, faulty advertised as global version. When I updated the result was a bricked phone. Now I have asked for a full refund since it was totaly their fault...i don't want to say the word "fraud". If they don't give me a full refund I will have to complain to the European department responsible for customer's rights in Europe and ask charges against GeekBuying warehouses in Europe.

How did the upgrade brick your phone? Is it using Global ROM or China ROM?

You are totally right about it. This re-sellers are selling the Mi8 as Global Version, they unlock the BL without the buyer consent, so yes, they are adultarating the product and selling something that doesn't even exist.
And the problems with BL are there just because re-sellers are doing this kind of thing!

Uhm I'm not sure but I would say that geekbuying flashed the Global rom through EDL, so they didn't need to unlock bootloader. He then updated OTA with locked bootloader and **** happened. @ekc_1971 do you remember if bootloader was locked or unlocked?
Wait a little, I have a xiaomi mi 8 Chinese version with global rom installed, also the bootloader is unlocked l, does that mean that if I upgraded OTA to miui 10 my device will get bricked?
BTW I upgraded 2 times from 9.5 to 9.6 and everything ran smoothly, can someone please clarify?

If your bootloader is unlocked you won't brick. Make sure you never lock the bootloader though.
Thank you for clarifying, why would somebody want to lock the bootloader again?
I should not have any problem then, but I would appreciate if you guys could post comments when you upgrade to a global miui 10 having a Chinese version.
Do any of you guys know any custom ROM for this device ?
TWRP is available, so you can root your device and optimise it, but I dont think there'll be a custom rom for your device, mainly because it has an mtk chipset.
Yes
Wish there's one
gsi images is a great way to customize our phone.the problem is the dynamic partition.we must find a way ,to flash a gsi image in the dynamic partition.
i think we can start the fastboot mode over the twrp recovery.i dont no ,how usefull this is to flash a rom.can anybody with more practice test it. iam not sure if i can flash the system.img easily to the system partition.
Custom roms will be available after when realme release official bootloader unlock tool (deepest.apk) because unlocking via mtkclient corrupts dm-verity and fastboot mode.
Thanks Tony for the information
Thanks Tony
Hi together,
do you expect some custom ROMs to be build soon?
Realme 7 has also MTK helio G95 an there are several custom ROMs available.
Looking forward to your professional experience!
Best wishes

Hi together,

Greetings from realme!
Thank you for writing to us.
We would like to inform you that we are constantly working to improve our user's experience through regular updates based on our receiving suggestions and feedback. We do not provide support for bootloader for EU region
Please note, if you root your device / unlock the bootloader or add any custom ROM to your device and later wish to flash back your device to official version, you may visit service center to get the services within warranty. However, if in case, official version doesn't get installed due to any software or hardware issues, services at service center will be considered as out of warranty.

Seems there will be no official bootloader unlock in the future
Sad to hear it !
Guys please don't root your smartphone and don't unlock the bootloader , no need as there will be no custom rom for this device

I asked again but it seems bootloader unlock for Realme 7 is also not supported but there are several custom Rom available…
Here Realme‘s answer:
„Further, on the basis of your concern we are not unlocking the bootloader of any of realme devices (including realme 8) till further update“

If bootloader for Realme 7 isn't supported than how can so much custom rom for that device be developed??
i mean, you guys could just try using KingoROOT to 1 click root your device and then remove bloat/optimise the installed stock rom

Yes? Hmm, ok... Anyway, there is a second way with mtkclient
Help me please?
How many method is there to change global in xiaomi?
Since your question is not explicit, you cannot change version (Global to EEA or others, etc.) or downgrade without unlocking the bootloader.
To summarize you can only update the installed version.
Now I am using this phone with china version. I bought it from china. But I don't like this version and I don't want to unlock bootloader. so I am finding other methods like hardware method(redmi 8a). But I am not a phone repairman.
Is there any other methods for rubypro? I really want to know.
(note: sorry for my eng skill)

The price of the motherboard and the labor will cost you relatively expensive and provided you find the part.
Edit:
Anyway you bought a Chinese version with soc Mediatek and:
Few or no development for the Mediatek soc
Impossible to re-lock the bootloader with a rom of a different version than Chinese.

If you install a golbal stock rom on a Chinese device and re-lock the bootloader, the phone is bricked.
You can't do this on a locked bootloader.
Global stock roms work on Chinese device and Xiaomi Eu rom as well.

the OP concerned the change of version not an update. who will download a global rom for it installed on a Cn rom with a locked bootloader?
