Hey there,
Finally my Phone gave me a notification for downloading Oreo 8.0.0 and I was wondering if it works the easy way to root it?
My Phone is running on EMUI 5 Android 7.0 build B212 with TWRP and Magisk 16.0 Root.
I Thought about this way to get the Official Oreo Rom rooted :
- Get back to Stock Recovery
- Update to Oreo 8.0.0
- unlock bootloader again if it Relocks
- flash TWRP for Oreo
- flash Magisk via TWRP to gain root on Oreo
Do you guys think that this will work?
Thanks for any suggestion
Hi,
Yeah it should be fine with those steps.
And if you encounter any weird behavior, perform a factory reset using original Recovery.

Is it possible to downgrade from 7.0 to 6.0 just flashing the rom with QFIL? I'm facing some problems with the Quick Charge in the Nougat Stock version and I want to do a downgrade. Mine isn't rooted and the bootloader is locked.

yep possible flash stock qfil 2.3.044 or any marshmallow version
it is possible to downgrade your rom using QFIL method.. backup your data first
It is even possible through TWRP I was able to downgrade from Stock ZUI 2.5.381 Android 7.0 to MIUI 8 Android 6.0.1 without any problem just factory reset through TWRP before install the MIUI 8 based on 6.0.1 and the TWRP even show while installing the it is taking the current new kernel 3.18.... and it is adopting it for the 6.0.1 ... I really like this feature .... and yes everything works fine no problems all features works fine no drivers problem or other interruptions ...
If I buy this phone, should I avoid upgrading to 7.x? `
I have a nrd90m firmware test as a result of a problem. I downloaded a full ota package as a solution from the firmware finder.
I want to ask if I install this firmware I lose all the data or not?
Another question if I wanted to install a custom rom instead, which would be the most suitable between openkirin or lineageos? Currently I have emui 5.
I have bootloader unlocked, root and twrp
As above is there a guide I can use to upgrade to emui 8.0? I am currently on emui 5.0 and want to try a custom rom either oreo or pie which I need emui 8.0 to start from
Bit of a newbie but have managed to unlock bootloader and install twrp
Thanks
Hi,
Did anyone manage to downgrade from 9.1.0.311 to 9.0 or 8?
When I am trying to rollback to 9 in Hisuite it doesn't work (TWRP says No OS installed).
Eventually, I would like to downgrade to 8.1/8.0/
(It's a device with unlocked bootloader, and I would like to keep it unlocked).
Thanks!
I was able to downgrade to 8.1 from 9.0.0.286. was using TWRP and cannot update via OTA. I use a modded version of hi suite and use rollback option. before reboot, flashed the recovery from .195 firmware via fastboot and hold volume up while turn on.. to my surprise it apply the update and send me back to 8.1.
The bootloader still unlocked after this. that's was strange.

I was able to downgrade from 9.1.0.311 to 8.0 following the steps from this thread...

I tried to install this fRomFuture ROM for my P10
[ROM] fRomFuture - Stock Rom L29 (B179) | XDA Developers Forums (xda-developers.com)
It worked perfectly, but then I tried to install the same dev's Oreo version, without realizing I need to update the "Firmware" (EMUI version?) first
[ROM] fRomFuture B370 | XDA Developers Forums (xda-developers.com)
That failed so I wiped, and tried to install the Stock fRomFuture. The install finishes without issue, but at first boot, the phone crashes, reboots and then goes "without issue" into the OS. But then the OS crashes after 1 minute and the phone reboots.
Wiping and reinstalling doesn't help anymore. Did I mess something up on my phone or the partitioning?
I unlocked the bootloader on EMUI 5.1 (Nougat) using DC-unlocker and installed TWRP 3.1.1-0 on it without issue.
I didn't update the "Firmware" to 8 or 9.
Also, forgive me, because this is my first Huawei and I don't understand anything of this "Firmware" talk that might have messed up my phone. I'm familiar with installing LineageOS on other phones such as Motorola's and Samsung's, but here it works totally different and caused me to bork my device?
I wiped the System and I have no back-up of my original Stock ROM
I tried this fix (HOWTA, rebranding), but it fails to install after the update.bat
dual sim functionality | XDA Developers Forums (xda-developers.com)
I also found sites giving the stock ROM in update.zip, but flashing that with TWRP fails.
Only ROM I can install is the one I mentioned above, but that keeps crashing now.
I'm really lost and registered here to get help. I don't want to abandon my "soft-brick" yet. The support on this device seems to be a little old, so I hope someone is still present.
Phone is VTR-L29C432. Build of fRomFuture is B179 (does that matter?)
UPDATE: (putting this for future reference in case it might help other people)
I managed to fix the issue by using a (more recent) HOWTA tool, a less buggy TWRP (3.1.1-0 instead of 3.1.0-0) and implementing update.zip, update_data_public.zip and update_all_hw.zip from build B185 into the update directory of the tool while flashing everything via fastboot.
System got restored to stock VTR-L29C432B185, latest Nougat build from 2018/01. Bootloader was locked again and twrp removed, but could be unlocked with same older code I purchased from DC Unlocker.
My only questions now is how to "correctly" install a custom rom like the OpenKirin for EMUI 8.1? First update firmware from EMUI 5.1 (Nougat) to 8.0 (Oreo) via with OTA before messing?
