[Q] Forwarded Call Notification - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Hi there!
I used to have a dual-sim Moto G4 Plus, which was pretty comfortable for dealing with home/office numbers/lines/accounts.
My Moto X4 comes in a single-SIM variant, and although the easiest way to bring dual-sim would be to simply replace it with something else, I just like it too much to get rid of it.
So! I set call forwarding from one number to the one on my X4, whoch works alright. However, now there's no way to know when someone's calling me from my work number, and when it's from my personal one. I remember some phones used to tell you for a couple secs, and some apps managed to "catch" that notification and make a persistent one of their own. However, the X4 doesn't even have the brief notification. I tried using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=joe.forward
It has a "Mode 2" option that's supposed to work even when no brief toast notification is displayed, but it didn't work either. Anyone know of some other way to detect a forwarded call? Bonus: If I could set it to avoid forwarded calls on a schedule, that´d be perfect. But right now, I'd just settle with the notification (tasker sounds like an option for this last part, though).

Any ideas or clues will help, by the way! thanks!

A question/request about caller-id area code identification

This is one thing I liked in my old Sprint phone. When I get an incoming call (or make an outgoing call), the phone would show the state, and sometimes the city, of the area code. Like it would say 'Texas' for 214. This occurs regardless of whether the number is stored in the phonebook or not.
My question is, is there an app, or can a feature like this be implemented? Any assistance on implementation will be appreciated.
I believe that I have seen an application like this on the Market, but I couldn't tell you the name right now since my Nexus is getting it's power button replaced.
I'll comment back if I can find it again once I get my phone back...

[Q] Drive not announcing incoming call but missed call

Hello,
wife's Moto X is connected to older VW bluetooth which only let's you dial through the phone or pick up incoming calls. That was the reason I got her the Moto x, so the drive assist would announce calls and she could place calls hands free. However, when a call comes in, it just rings, no announcement. When the call is not picked up, the phone then says "missed call from xxx". So drive is working somehow but not all the way. And when the "missed call from xxx" announcement is being spoken (and the screen goes black with the red microphone circle), the phone doesnt react to any voice input.
I upgrade and downgraded the assist app, didnt make any changes. I'm using the "having issues with bluetooth - other audio" option.
Any idea? Thanks a lot!
Have you been into the settings of assist and checked the boxes of the actions you want when you are driving? Also, is your GPS in high accuracy?

yes and yes. Drive assist shows up as symbol in the notification bar. And it runs because missed calls are being announced, just not incoming one's. Wife has replace the stock dialer, not sure if that makes a difference, because when I disabled it it was doing the same.
Try this: How to reset Motorola Assist
Thanks. I forgot to mention that I tried to clear cache etc. But reading through the comments from the link above, there are a lot of people having the same issue. I think I'll wait and see if the coming L update will fix things. Sounds like 4.4.4 update broke it for some. And I don't have much time fussing with the phone and car at the same time since it's not mine. But as of now, Assist seems useless and I could just use Google Now for the same functionality.

not getting any voicemail notifications on my OnePlus 3T

I'm not getting notifications when I receive a voicemail. Everything seems to be set up properly, and I'm able to see and play my voicemail in visual voicemail, but no notification comes through on receiving a voicemail. If I reboot my phone when a voicemail is waiting for me, I do get a voicemail notification when the phone boots back up, but I don't get notifications for any subsequent voicemails (unless I reboot again).
Are others seeing this behavior? And does anyone have any clues what might be causing it?
Hmmm. I also have the same problem, i won't see the voicemail unless i reboot.
Hmm this happened to me once, thought it was a quirk. Not good...
T-Mobile if that matters. First slow LTE, now this. Ugh.
I'm on T-Mobile too. Stinger051, are you also? Maybe this is a T-Mobile specific issue? OnePlus didn't seem to have any clue about it.

There's a similar thread on the OP forums, but I can't recall if it was T-Mobile specific or if it was all kinds of carriers around the planet. If I find it again, I'll post a link. I'm on ATT and as far as I know (it's really tough to know things you don't know ), I'm not having the problem. In fact, I get double-notifications, one is the regular symbol (is it an infinity symbol?) for a message on my VM, and the other is the ATT VVM app symbol.
Now and then I don't get a "so&so called" notification along with it, but I always "seem" to get the VM / VVM symbols. When I listen to VM using the 1 on the keypad (now and then), I never find something I hadn't gotten a notification about so it "might" be carrier specific.
Sure enough, just found another voicemail I had no idea about.
I submitted a bug about this:

Is anyone else noticing this problem? If so, please add to the bug thread on the OnePlus forum.
How to get voicemail notification
Hi everybody. I figured out a fix. Even though I have spent a lot of time on OnePlus Chat, was told to wipe the phone, and spent a remote session with One Plus they could not figure out the issue. Simply turning off "Visual Voicemail" in the phone app completely fixed the problem (even though the OnePlus people told me to make sure it was on!). In the phone app, go to Settings, then Call settings, then select your SIM card (1 or 2), then Voicemail, then switch Visual Voicemail to off. You will get voicemail alerts normally, but now you will not have visual voicemail. There is a T-mobile Visual Voicemail app that you could try to use instead, though. Hope this helps

Dual SIM Tricks in Tasker

Hi everyone, I have been struggling to build up my idea with tasker but can't make it work.
I have Dual Sim Android 6 phone and I want to make some automation like this:
Schedule week days and hours so when I receive incoming call to SIM 2 and if I don't answer in 5 seconds or intentionally dismiss the call, the sms should be sent from SIM 2 with my text (for example "Hi, we are not working at this time, please call 0800....") to that number which called.
Is this possible?
Sounds simple, but I have tried to play with tasker plugins and so but not much luck... I am not guru on tasker, just have made few tasks work in the past, like turn off screen in 5 seconds after charger plugged in and so.
I don't have dual SIM experience so all I can do is make some guesses unless you are more specific as to how things work.
If there is a notification that pops up when the phone rings, to tell you which line the call is coming from, then intercepting that notification should be possible.
Have you played with Dual Sim Control? The guy who does that app also does autotools and is very responsive on his help forum.
This blog post isn't exactly what your looking for, but maybe it'll get you pointed the right way.
Great, will try out! Thanks!

Question Auto update breaks my ability to make calls/text when I enable WiFi for the first time after factory reset. Anyway to disable this?

I've had an ongoing battle with my ability to make calls/text with this device, I initially thought it was at the carriers end but I was perplexed because my SIM works fine in other devices and they are unable to find anything wrong.
Last night I opted to try a full factory reset, I had already done multiple prior in an effort to find a resolution but this time I opted to do it without immediately connecting my phone to WiFi during the setup portion. What I found was two things, all the texts that had failed to come in did and my talk and text was now completely usable. Also the ZTE Locker, which is ZTEs embedded lockscreen wallpaper app was now functioning again. Prior to this it had stopped working and was stuck on one static image (it is suppose to change the lockscreen wallpaper every time you turn on the screen on your device and the images update everyday over Wifi). Unfortunately as soon as I connect my phone to WiFi without any notification I believe the phone does some form of update as within seconds my phones ability to make calls/text breaks along with the ZTE locker. I have attempted to disable any auto updates under the system updates in settings before connecting to Wifi, but unfortunately that does not work as it does not appear to be a full on OS change. Is there any way to disable any updates that are not manually approved when I connect to Wifi? I have reached out to ZTE support and they have escalated the issue to their senior R&D team. However I don't want to wait until a new update before I can have a functioning phone.
Just as a note, the issue appears to be particular to 3G calls (although I am not sure why I am failing to receive some texts). In Canada our carriers do not enable VoLTE with phones that are pretty much not Samsung/Apple or have been bought directly from them. Because of this any out of market phones like One Plus and ZTE that are unlocked and compatible only get calling through 3G, which is normally fine. I can get VoLTE briefly if I put my SIM in a carrier approved phone and switch it to my ZTE and it appears to work (until my carrier recognizes the IMEI and blocks it). So this may be why not everyone is experiencing this issue (if they have VoLTE). Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end.
I'm in the USA and have had zero issues on T-Mobile, but when I got the phone I had to manually put in the T-Mobile APN settings to make sure everything liked texts and data worked correctly. I have many T-Mobile devices so I know exactly how to set the APN. Are you sure that your APN is set correctly for the network you are on? I know that most phones set the APN according to the sim card you insert, but I have found many Chinese phones that DON'T. Once I set it manually that usually solves all the problems.
Also, how did you reach out to ZTE support? I'm trying to get ahold of them to give them feedback to DISABLE the obnoxiously loud camera shutter sound in the next software update, but aside from spamming their Facebook page, I don't know how to get ahold of them.
Thanks for the reply, oddly there is no option on my Axon Ultra to add APN settings. Only the default ones are available, although they do look to be correct for the most part I would love trying to add them manually. Someone in another forum who was also having issues (with another Canadian carrier) spoke with a rep and they stated that they would be releasing an update shortly with the manual APN option. My data and MMS appear to be working fine however so I am not too optimistic that will be the fix. You can contact ZTE on their website, if you go to their contact page you will see a little pop on the bottom right hand corner for chat. In reality it is mostly a messaging service as it never appears to be actually online but they do appear to be respond somewhat promptly to message sent via email. Just as a heads up, I don't recall specifically where I think it was a review but I do believe they have made a statement already saying they will patch out the loud shutter sound.
May I ask if your phone works fine with VoLTE disabled? Unfortunately since all non carrier approved devices are denied VoLTE in Canada my main experience has been with 3G calls failing.
I'm in Finland. Having so much problems with call's that i can't use the phone. Problems answering call's and phone also keeps cutting call's. I sent mail to Zte support. Probably have to wait for update and hope for the best.
Hey, they released an update today. It now allows you to input your own APN settings manually. Look up your carriers and add your own. Even though the automated ones were right making my own manual ones has fixed the issue for me it seems.
