-Unified device tree to allow all kirin 960 devices to boot this rom
-GPS: gps.conf added for GPS initialization.
-Fast charging working (doesn't display fast/rapid charging on lockscreen though, working on that).

-System: UI fix to stop screen tearing issue.
-System: Cell signal strength improvements/adjustments

**NOT CURRENTLY INCLUDED
-Currently, the stock emui camera is not included. (Currently though, there a couple magisk modules available for 960 devices on XDA)
Pre-Requirements
*Must be running EMUI 8 / Oreo.
*Must have an unlocked bootloader
DO NOT USE TWRP (*Currently on the most of the kirin 960 devices, there isn't a fully functional TWRP.)
1. Whether coming from another custom ROM or EMUI, it is highly recommended that you have your current stock ramdisk, recovery_ramdisk, and kernel IMG files.
2. Download the Havoc-OS hi3660 img file (which is currently compressed as a .zip file) and extract the system.img from it once the download completes.
3. Boot your device into bootloader mode. (Power off phone. Once off, hold Vol Down button while connecting your device to the computer).
4. If you have magisk (or root of any kind) or currently have twrp installed, proceed to the next step (Step 5). If you have not used magisk or root, nor
have you installed or used TWRP, proceed to step 6)
5. Fastboot flash stock ramdisk, recovery_ramdisk and stock kernel first (especially if you are currently rooted with magisk).
6. Fastboot flash the system.img extracted from the Havoc-OS hi3660 image file.
7. Reboot into stock recovery.
8. Wipe cache and do a factory reset.
9. Reboot and profit.
*Fastboot commands
fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk.img (might be recovery_ramdis.img, as sometimes the "k" gets cutoff)
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
fastboot flash system system.img

Nice work! This looks to be a really nice rom. Quick question. Would I still have to unlock my bootloader to flash the system image or do I just go ahead and flash it in fastboot without unlocking bootloader? I assume you wouldn't based on the instructions but just to make sure.

Yes, that is correct. As long you have your current matching firmware's update.app, all you have to do is extract and fastboot flash the stock system.img. If you are using magisk at all, you would also want to flash stock ramdisk and kernel. Then factory reset in stock recovery and reboot.

Nice I just flashed the image. Everything looks fantastic but I can't check for OTA update, it gives me a can't check for update error message. Do you supply the OTA updates to us or do we have to reflash everything?

Nice bud....want to share a screenshot of your about phone in settings? Was curious to know what model you are on. Yeah, so not in OTA at the moment....but will get there....however at first it will be just to provide the update link....You can install updates by downloading the new release (when available) and fastboot flashing it like you just did the first time. No factory reset required.

Gotcha thanks. I have an issue with installing huawei backup; I backed up my messages contacts etc on there but can't install the app, either through playstore or as standalone apk. Playstore gives me a -505 error and apk installer just says app not installed. Not sure what's going on here.
The lowest brightness setting is also too bright for me. Size scaling on navigation keys is also not working.

Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, huawei backup doesn't work with any of the custom roms. It's an EMUI only app. Which is one unfortunate part. However, there are 3rd party backup alternatives on the play store to backup and restore information
On automatic brightness or with it off? As for size scaling on navigation keys, i will take a look into that.
Nice to see a 960 optimized treble ROM!
Would I be able to use Viper4Android in this ROM?
What about Magisk or Xposed?
Thx!

Ah okay. It's not too big of a deal since nothing too important was lost. As for the brightness, it was on manual adjustment settings. It's just too bright on the lowest setting for me. If you could scale it so it can dim more on the lowest end that would be great!

Thanks. Unfortunately, viper4android doesn't work for our devices running EMUI 8 / Oreo.
As for magisk, installing magisk manager and using the patch method with your stock ramdisk.img and flashing it via fastboot is the best way.
Follow this guide here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...nning-t3773878
Just after you install magisk manager, before you point it to the ramdisk.img, go to settings and change channel from stable to beta. And also make sure that force encryption is checked on. Beta will bring magisk up to 16.7, which is rthe recommend version of magisk on huawei devices.

Right now you have to install magisk and use one of the available huawei cam magisk modules for the stock camera.

Samsung S health and gear manager only work on samsung based roms, unless they have been ported. So, no, they'll not work here.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
@gmenelau I don't have a Gear Fit to test those apps, sorry.
Back to ROM, clear install, fully wiped, installed Gapps from Aroma installer and got a bootloop. It's strange.
Second try, clear install again with full wipe, now without the Gapps and have a bootloop too
I don't think so it's my fault. Every previous ROM I have tried works normally, it's first time with bootloop.

Nothing as such lol. Stock kernel works fine, you can test it for yourself. Anyway, I have high suspicion on the gapps package he is using.

ok then my bad, sorry :fingers-crossed: still he has issues with wifi not working while on latest boeffla?
i would flash it but last few days i flashed i bit to' much so i need a bit of rest with my phone
and can post few screen shots? it would be nice
I can't agree with that suspicion, coz:
1. Those are just PA Gapps but with AROMA installer
2. They works on every ROM I have been using on 5.0.X
So should work here as well.

Great ROM. Really smooth.
Everything works fine but backlight does not turn off in lock screen.
PS: Facing same issue with your HalogenOS build too.
Damn, that's lot of work. Thanks for the detailed writeup. :good:

I don't use them, so no idea.
But flashing 3 ROM just to try a new ROM is too much work for me.
crdroid is good & stable rom, but still using old cyanogenmod base? as cmfilemanager, cmparts, trebuchet luancher are there...nothing is new same old look as cm13
I don't get this line "are not running stock crDroid-kernel". Did xiomi release redmi 4a kernel source? Anyways is it possible to know if this rom has the nougat battery mode shown. The one I'm using right now has only the default mode.Would switch to this If I can set the mode myself for example to ultimate battery mode.
Thanks
Roms is smooth...battery backup needs improvement

Are you running the latest official build. Is it possible to check if there are 5 different power save mode?
---------- Post added at 10:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 AM ----------
skmaiti2050 said:
I had tried an older unofficial build of crDroid earlier. It had the the battery mode as far as I remember. The battery mode consisted of 5 modes starting from powersave mode which at default gets enabled when the battery saver is turned on then efficiency enabling the battery optimisations, balanced for normal users, quick mode and lastly the performance mode but I still doubt that it works or not because for all these, the system needs kernel optimisation to be performed and still now the kernel sources has not been yet released.
If your device is rooted, I can suggest you to try Kernel Adiutor to check if your device goes into deep sleep mode when the device is not used. If your device doesn't goes into deep sleep mode then try some doze apps like Greenify, ForceDoze etc.

Its not that I got bad battery Life , just that I loved that mode in older nougat version. It gave me quite alot of batter life when I neded it.Right now I'm running a fully custom rom with amplify and greenify so don't want to switch to another rom If it doesn't have the 5 battery mode.
skmaiti2050 said:
I would suggest you to use DisableService and disable those pesky services for a better battery life. Using Amplify without knowing proper settings for wakelocks causes delayed notifications and I'm sure that it has battery mode in this ROM but I'm on MIUI 9 now. I have flashed more than 20 different ROMs and I don't want to try any other ROM :crying: :silly:
After using DisableService and disabling unrequired services will help to save more battery then using battery saver and different power modes. In idle state, after using the app you'll notice almost no battery drain when phone is not used.

Men I'm using every posible way to save battery, even using microG insteed of google service and I still only get a mere 3h-4h SOT with 15-20h standby time.Maybe thats good since I never tested it to only stay on SOT. I've seen people achive 7h SOT on miui with this phone so I was hoping for at least 5h SOT
skmaiti2050 said:
I have also achieved almost 8 hr SOT on MIUI 9. That's I'm on MIUI 9. I have even achieved almost 7 hr SOT on Lineage OS 14. I have already posted the screenshots for that. I had flashed picoGapps for every ROM I have tested.

did you keep your brightness to medium or low? I'm going to try to do a video test with aeroplane mode to see how much the display would go on nougat. And I think il probably change rom since this one gives my 10+% usage in standby mode at night.

I flashed the firmware and it broke my phone backlight. Had to revert back to dev nougat rom to fix it. So should i install the firmware again or is it the same as dev nougat rom ?
skmaiti2050 said:
I would suggest you this ROM indeed, because it was the most stable ROM I have ever tried, now in addition the hotspot bug is also fixed and now officially supported. Bunch of thanks to the developer. For good battery life, go for this or else if you really care about battery life like me, then go for MIUI 9 and debloat it. In addition, I had passed SafetyNet in MIUI 9 even after modifying system partition whereas in most of the ROM it wasn't possible due to build.prop mods by the custom ROMs.
To debloat, you can refer my thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/miui-8-debloater-script-t3678972
And I had tried Lineage OS 14, I also would recommend it but it has the hotspot bug and also the device wasn't been able to use on mass storage mode and access files on PC. I don't know if this build of crDroid has the same problem, otherwise it was really flawless to use just like running on a butter
---------- Post added at 07:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:40 PM ----------
As I have suggested earlier in this thread, the simple solution is:
Case 1: If you are on MIUI 8 with custom recovery
a) Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache without wiping internal storage to keep your data safe.
b) Then flash the nougat firmware zip given in the main thread of this ROM.
c) Now flash the ROM given in the thread.
Case 2: If you are on MIUI 9 with custom recovery
a) Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache without wiping internal storage to keep your data safe. No need to flash the zip.
b) Now flash the ROM and reboot.
Case 3: If you were on MIUI 8 and directly flashed the ROM and facing backlight and VoLTE issue
a) If you have MIUI 8 fastboot rom then flash saving user data via MiFlash and follow the steps of Case 1 thereafter.
b) If you have MIUI 9 fastboot rom then flash saving user data and then follow the steps of Case 2.
Some users actually flashed MIUI 9 recovery zip via updater app in MIUI 8, which also creates this issue. Clean flashing is always recommended. In such cases, clean all along with wiping internal storage and then according to Case 3, follow the steps.

I'm flashing the rom right now since I'm on miui 9(backed up my custom rom and flashed miui from fastboot that fked up all my storage so I backup for nothing T_T )

All the best, and please verify on my behalf if the MTP is working after you connect the device. Calm down and sorry for the trouble. If you get success, please let us know so then this ROM would be the best ROM for the device till now! :good:

MTP working , 4g working . Quite a clean rom no gapps library (I found some custom roms that include them ).
The only problem I'm having is that the battery goes 1% for 1-2min of screen usage. Maybe wrong calibration because thats way to strange.
Also baseband shows as unknow dunno why.
skmaiti2050 said:
You have to manually flash Gapps package in recovery. Go for pico version and for battery callibration either the battery is faulty then go for replacement or else in this ROM, use your battery till 0% or automatically turns off on its own and then let it remain for some time. In switched off condition charge up your device till 100% and then use the device. Don't use the device while charging.
Hope the battery issue also gets solved. :fingers-crossed:

You got it wrong, its a good thing that it comes without any sign of gapps I don't plan to use them.I use a google less system. And as you say it may be a bad battery. Its some months old anyways. Going to probably get a powerbank.

How's battery life on this ROM?
Finally something new. Great work. Just flashed it. Comming with feedback in a couple of days how it works.
Just a couple of notes right away.
The system font changer doesnt work.
When selecting red accent colour theme, it turns blue instead.
Other than this it works fine so far.

Did you remeber to format everything besides internal storoage before flash? Try do that and flash again.
Are you connected to internet?
Have you tried restarting, clearing the cache and data for the pixel setting app and google play services app? It is under system apps.

Wipe everything except internal memory.
Install rom
Install twrp

Nice ROM, but it lacks Google camera and some other pixel features. Also, like the pixeldust ROM, we can't customize recents. The style is horizontal only and the clear all button is displayed only when scrolled to very left. Battery life seems a bit less lasting than pixeldust, but I've been on evolution for 12 hours only.
Other than that it's good, but I personally won't stay with this ROM. The recents style won against me.

Yes but he didn't include it and left aosp cam instead. Google camera is certainly the most capable to fully exploit pixel'camera, that's the point. In other side, there are Google apps installed by default that I don't want. Letting users to decide what they want would be a better chance for them to have a pleasant experience with his ROM.
Regards.

Try again with new firmwareQupdater
Ok it boot with this new zip, thank you.
I will use the ROM few days and then give a feedback, but it seems fine so far !
I gave it a try.
Well, it sure is different from what I am use to. But you can customise it.
It seems to be mostly working. No big errors found yet.
One problem.
When calling, microphone gain/volume is very low. It is difficult for others to hear what I am saying.
It is much better when I am in speaker mode. But that is not solution, it is bad workaround.
Not sure what the problem is.
Could be microphone low gain issue.
Could be that noise cancellation or something else is causing it.
Maybe automatic gain or something.
It is possible to record better audio as speaker mode works better. Not sure what it does differently.
Same problem with LineageOS. And I think ArrowOS had the same problem - but can't be 100% sure at the moment, I used it very shortly because bluetooth audio did not work there.
My old Umidigi One has MUCH better sound when calling. I do not want to make it very dramatic but it is very close to being like night and day. There is quite a big difference, much more than I would call normal.
I never even switched it on with stock rom, so I do not know how it performs in stock rom.
For now I can not use it daily as call quality is so poor and I need it as a phone.
I hope at some point it will get fixed if someone can understand the problem and how it works in android.
I tried to play with mixer xml files a bit but there are millions of setting and I did not really understood what was going on. I tried to change some settings that seemed like relevant, but no changes.
Audio settings should be simple but they are far from simple in android... at least not to me.
Problem on setting sound, cannot set ringtone and setting crash
Edit: only in no Gapps version

I have also Vanilla version (no gapps).
I can set some ringtones (from pixel list some work). Others just start to show spinning loading ring or something like that and nothing happens.
Same for notification sounds. Some from Pixel list work, most do not.
Do we need to install this over Android 10 or can it be flashed on top of Android 9. Reason I am asking is that I flashed it over Stock 11.1.171 and I cannot connect to the WiFi to finish the setup on the first boot. Thanks.
EDIT: This also happens after installing a version with no Gapps. The WiFi just keeps dropping signal and reconnecting. Plus the mobile data doesn't work either. Similar thing happens and the phone keeps disconnecting from my network and trying to reconnect a moment later. Any ideas? Thank you.
Also after flashing this ROM I can no longer boot into the stock ROM after flashing with QFIL - I've tried a few times and it just gets stuck on either Lenovo logo or gets rebooted into the download mode (with the blue light on and nothing on screen). I suppose it might have something to do with Firmware Q Updater even though I thought that flashing with QFIL will overwrite this. When I re-flashed the ZEN OS it worked fine and I could boot to the system again, but I have no data connectivity so can't really use it.
Do you have any idea what's happening and what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

Hello,
I had the same problem. For data connectivity, just set manually APN network settings , save and reboot the phone. Set 4G network as favorite network. ZenX-OS is very promising, I'm testing it since yesterday ant it looks great. No major issue for the moment.
To use Z5s stock rom, maybe, you need to flash back to the original firmware to make it works.

Cheers. Yes, that's exactly what I did. I flashed L78071_CN_SECURE_USER_Q00024.0_P_ZUI_11.1.171_ST_191023_qpst using QFIL which went OK but I cannot boot to the system as I get stuck. I swapped the recovery IMG file in the unzipped folder so I can have working recovery after flashing and that works OK as well.
Did you have problems with WiFi as well or just cellular data?

Cellular data is working and wifi is OK too.
For wifi, I only had a small issue during the installation process. I've deleted the home network saved. Now wifi is working perfectly

Thanks man. Will give it a go. Do you just copy system_1 to system_15 from Z6Lite to 171 and flash like that? Also, there is a link to MIUI12 in your post? Did you end up installing that as well?
EDIT: Ignore the question regarding the system files. It's quite obvious after downloading the Z6Lite zip.
EDIT1: Unfortunately this didn't work either. Still get stuck. I get to the Lenovo logo, it starts changing the colors as if it was booting correctly, then it stops for a moment and reboots to the blank screen with the blue LED on with nothing happening.

Yes, you just have to replace 15 system files. I didn't try MIUI 12. For the moment ZenX-OS seems to be stable and functional as I expect.

Its just one little doubt
Since the post doesn't have any bugs section
I'm wondering if the vibration motor is working
(The other two roms i saw had a broken vibrator motor but everything else pretty stable)

I've added a buglist at the bottom of the first post, thanks for reminding me :good:
Installed the rom
I installed the rom
Installation went flawless
Up until the real test
First day the rom made it through the day without problems
Next day (today that im typing this)
My phone suddenly didn't wanted to boot up
After the unlocked bootloader warning the phone kept rebooting to fastboot
Had to install stock rom to use it again :crying:
(I Have the moto g8, not the fast one)

That's the thing
I wanted to keep the rom clean before doing any modifications so no magisk or xposed
Or even substratum
It just started to bootloop to bootloader

Was it the gapps included version, or the no gapps version?
On the second day, you just turned off your phone and when you turned it back on it went to the bootloader screen, correct?
What about the first day? Did you reboot at all?

I used the gapps version.
On second day i didn't reboot it
What happened is that at night (on second day)
While the phone was charging and turned on (Screen was locked)
It suddenly bootloop to bootloader
I tried using the start option (The one that boots you back to the system, in this case the rom) but it kept booting back to bootloader.
And no i didn't reboot on first day.
It was just some "hardcore" downloading apps and checking features lol.
