Android Go? - Moto X Q&A

Any chance someone can shoehorn Android Go into this bad boy so we can keep it alive a bit longer?

will android get better ?

ive got a voice in my head telling me to buy an iphone.
after reading a comment yesterday in the app/games section from a developer saying that apple are leaps ahead when it comes to games and apps, this is sort of making me want to get an iphone.
is this what we see now with android the best its going to get, or are there things in the pipeline worth waiting for ?
( i dont really have voices in my head btw ) whos that ?!
the reason the iphone has better games is that it has been around far longer than android. there will be better games for android, it will just take sometime. next month android is supposed to get flash10, that should allow for some better apps and games to be rolled out.
if you want the instant gratification (with the oh so sour aftertaste of pestilence) then get the iphone, but if i was you (i would have never had such a blasphemous thought) i stick with android.
just my $.03 (i am rich today)
iPhone has more apps and games because it's been out longer. However if you search for "fart" you get a couple hundred apps that do the same thing. Also with Android being open source apps can integrate with the phone better like google voice does, the iPhone version doesn't integrate nearly as well. Alot of people will claim it's because google voice has an advantage because it's made by google and that just isn't true because sipdroid and handsentSMS both integrate the same way google voice does.
Bottom line is open source wins everytime.

don't forget that scooty puff jr < scooty puff sr "the doom bringer"
You guys are wrong, things don't get better with age, they rot.
Everyone who wants an iphone should buy one. Everyone who wants an Android device should buy one.
The world would be a better place if people just did what they felt.
But seriously... Android is still young, in development, growing, maturing, and (get this) improving. So the obvious answer to your question is "YES, Android will continue to get better over time". And, in addition, Android is pretty damn good right now (isn't it?).

Ooooohhhhh burnnn.
iPhone is very limited in one regard, only apple is pumping it up. They have no reason to do new bold things - look at their history, the iPods from 10 years ago are basically the same as the one you buy today, just bigger hardware and slightly changed software.
Android has the advantage of being on many networks and many phone companies can tinker with android to make it their own. This is innovation and is what will make android leapfrog iPhone sooner than most think.
The new phones already have cooler UIs and bigger hardware than the G1 - which is really an amazing phone considering it was the first run at an android phone.
I like the pretty look of the iPhone.... I really dislike apples say on what can/can not be on the market. I also hate looking like the next guy with an iPhone.
Android and it's opensource is an incredible advantage and we are only in an infant stage so it's really not fair to compare, look down the road though and I think most analyst would tell you android > iPhone.
trust me man, opensource is the best, iphone is better, but andriod is the best we are not saying dat because we are baias, but there are lots of down to iphone than there is to android

Like my fellow David says, certain things do/always get better with progression. Android is like that 100+ year bottle of Brandy, but It hasn't gotten to that 100 year mark yet.
Yep with the release of Flash10, there will be better apps and games released but just the fact that Android is and should always stay Open Source always beats the Nazism of Apple.

Oh ffs, you must be joking right? Just go and buy the Desire HD if you want android.
thats what i was thinking. why would you buy an HD7 with the intention of putting android onto it, when you could have just bought the Desire HD.
Oh FFS, here we go again
guys stop being so mean, give him the link so he can download android.exe

Just ignore the kids. It is not possible to do that, yet until maybe when the bootloader is cracked
Guys I just brought my HD7 can you send me the link to WP8?*
*sorry had to do that, still wetting myself with laughter at the moment. Putting aside the fact that the phone is just 10 days old and has no way of upgrading it's native OS at this moment in time why would anyone want Android on the HD7? There are already perfectly good phones with the same spec that already have Android as the native OS.
It's a bit like buying a car and expecting it to FLY me to Spain.

+1 on this one.
Why would anyone want to do that. Just read this comparison http://www.neowin.net/news/wp7-vs-android---part-three-features-galore and enjoy WP7 coz you aint getting anything better

That review in your link is a WP7 ad, dumbass. What about lack of multitasking? Lack of copy/paste? A terrible browser? Lack of flash? WP7 is clearly not ready for prime time. Anyone with half a brain would know that Android is much, much better in its current iteration.

What's with the hostility?
I'm a massive android fan, always have been, always will be. I had the G1 when it was first released here in the UK and I've convinced many people to take the jump to Android.
I now have a HD7, I wanted to try something new (yes I've tried iOS before and hate it). Android isn't "much, much better" infact there are a lot of things that WP7 does 1000x better than Android. Ofc there are things missing and there are also things that Android does better but they're pretty equal imo. Infact, Personally I actually prefer Windows Phone 7.
Before you call me a "dumbass" like you did to the previous person, may I point out that you're talking to someone who is currently perusing a Computer Science degree at one of the best Universities in the UK and has had Android for exactly 2 years today.
---------------
Just to add, back to the OP. It's not possible to "install" android atm. It might be in the future though we'll never know.
And for people calling him stupid, it does sort of seem stupid at first glance but think about it this way:
Android = Open Source
WP7 = Closed Source
WP7 will therefore never be on an Android handset.
It may be possible to one day port Android over to WP7 handsets due to it being Open Source.
So theoretically, buying the HD7 over the Desire HD could be getting you a device capable of running 2 OSs, we're just too early in the lifecycle of the OS to even think about porting Android yet.

OK, so copy and past and multi tasking are not there yet, Flash? When did Flash come as part of Android? You can add it after, which again is going to happen to WP7 in the future.
Before slating someone else, maybe at least have half and argument to back it up.
And as for the original OP, it IS a silly question, the OP obviously has some knowledge of multiple operationg systems to be able to ask that question and not as naive as people may think. Some people are so hooked on having the latest and greatest, shiniest shiny thing, that they already want to replace a 10 day old OS!
I never realised the foot-and-mouth syndrome was still out there.

I love that you call someone else a dumbass then put forward these over used and dry arguments. It is so bad when people have to try and pick holes with half hearted points.
First multitasking seems to be a big buz word and on a phone is a lit of hype over nothing. For 90% of smartphone users it adds nothing to the expirience but extream battery drain. All I seemed to do whith my desire is close programs wasting away in the background.
Flash and copy and paste will be here within a very short time a d tbh I am thankfull tha MS has given us wp7 now with the promise then make me wait longer for it to be out, if you can't live without it till the update then just wait for it before buying as you would of dond if they held it back till then anyway
And last the browser that at first glance looks like android wins and tbh it is so much better to use BUT it is a huge memory drain and that linked with multitasking means if you move to a diff app while on the wrong site and when you come to make a call, the thing a phone is for, you will have no power to do so.
Wp7 is not perfect but j feel people see Microsoft and jump on the it must be rubbish bandwagon. Wp7 is a real revolution in phone os and I for one am glad that I sold my desire to get one the benefits far outweigh the small to be fixed holes.

[Rumor] 910u getting lollipop this week

Rumor has it that 910U will have lollipop on april 2nd 2015. could be wrong obviously but a birdie at samsung told me. :fingers-crossed:
Where you from zurkx ?, if your wrong i will personally end you. xD
That's for 5.1 on april
Was it from one of those birds that eat unused fast-food litter then craps all over your car .... or was it from one of those birds that fly around the great outdoors with majestic wingspans & piercing eyes then swoops down from the sky with blazing speed and crushes those other birds eating fast food in the car park?
Because the fast-food eating birds work in the Samsung janitor dept. Don't trust them they'll say anything for a half-eaten big mac.
I so hope you're right. Its been really hard developing a lollipop rom for the N910C that I haven't been able to use myself. It all works on the N910U except for the phone signal which defeats the purpose of the phone, ha ha. It looks great though and I can't wait to get it on my U.
I have also cooked a lollipop rom for my Note 3 which is good too. Come on Sammy enough is enough
I have a feeling the update is for April 1-st...

Agreed. I was trying to find a way to get signal on n910c rom but to no avail. Hopefully this be a good start to the long weekend.
If we don't get this update soon it may be time to choose a new manufacture, really wish Samsung would provide at least an update.
Getting it every week,www
Hope its not an April fool joke from Samsuck
If it's april fool, i swear to god that i will switch from Samsung. We didn't buy the device to get our hopes and then be fooled.
But i hope it's real
In enjoying the various nicknames people call Samsung

Keep'em coming ! If you have a U Note, I think it's mandatory you post one new nickname a day until Lollipop arrives for us.

Michael Bay?
Does it count if I want to smacksung and make them hurry up
Man i hope this is released soon. Ive never been more impatient for a phone update in my life..
After we receive Android 5.0.1, we will be making up more names and bashing at Samsung about Android 5.1. Geez... People these days. The update is much needed for all, but I don't think making names and bashing at the company will speed up the process. IMO.
This thread is going to need an updated header for each week Samsung's delayed.
It's unconscionable that a device that was explicitly mentioned as having a Lollipop upgrade path on launch is now 6 months removed from launch -- but Lollipop is only on a handful of variants. I can't even imagine what people who have variants like X and W are doing... they don't even have recourse to custom ROMs.
What's taking so long?? It didn't take that long to copy the iPhone 6, did it Samesung? Can you now devote your resources to pushing Lollipop to our Note 4 variant? Please?
Sook sook
Shamsung! Even if L comes this week, this will be my last Samsuck device. 6 months wait is way too long
regrettably agree with above post, my U GN4 suffers from a myriad of issues, the LP update was promised more than 6 months ago, keep screwing your customers Shamdung. At this point I wouldnt urinate on your name if it was on fire!
Guys check out the Saygus V2 thats v squared.

Safestrap for the LG G4?

Since the lg g2 has gotten Safestrap shouldnt the lg g4 get one too? I mean we dont have a bootloader thingy for our device cant we just develop one?
I believe the problem is they cant side step the bootloader the same way as they have in the past. Truthfuly im just waiting on 6.0 before i put any major effort into developing for this phone. I have it pretty tricked out now without being unlocked but just rooted. Once 6.0 comes out i will put much effort into exploiting a loophole in lgs bootloader. This is my first lg phone had no idea it was so dead on the developers side but i see why now. I have been hacking phones since the htc touch before android even existed. Anyways between work and knowing it will shortly be updated to 6.0 im just waiting for that and then i will rip this phone apart. I got this phone for a penny and could care less about it so when i say i will give her hell i mean ill go at it with no worries.

Finally another old schooler!
I miss how much fun it was to hack phones back in the day, and some of the stuff we had to do back then makes Android phone development look simple. Oh man, back when you could do everything just right and still brick the hell out of your phone because htc or palm would sneak in a hardware change in the middle of a production run
I may start a new thread in original development thread. One on the sole purpose of unlocking the bootloader. For those of you with advance coding skills this is a very interesting read and may eventually lead us in the right direction. http://blog.azimuthsecurity.com/2013/04/unlocking-motorola-bootloader.html?m=1
I am currently in the process of pulling our blocks and ciphering through the code. Im not sure if his exact method will work as it looks like they may have reversed engineered his exploit and fixed it. But i believe that the basic concept of going after unlocking the bootloader by manipulating the code itself from tge blockchains will still work we just need to see what has been done and start back tracking to the point of where it can be xploited.
Like i stated earlier i may open a thread in original development devoted to this and maybe get a meeting of the minds. Like a think tank if you will. If i could get a team together of oldschoolers and new millenniumers and assign a block to be sifted through to groups rather than by myself im sure we could figure this out.

Android iso on apple watch

hello guys. I have been away from here for a long time and have been playing around with things. I remember years back people were putting android iso on iphones most due to the battery life iphone had over androids. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to install say samsung gear iso on apple watches? i have searched on here and haven't found much on it. maybe its impossible, but i have seen some amazing stuff here.
That will most definitely never work. Nor will android be running on an iPhone either.
May as well buy android from the get go. :good:
