One of the vids on YouTube ( google 'geekyranjit mi a2 faq' ) mentioned issues with :
- the proximity sensor.
- memory management.
- adaptive brightness.
This was with the version released in India.
Could some one here please confirm?
EDIT :
Guys, if anyone posts in this thread, please mention where (country) you got the A2.
Might help in finding out if the 'same' phone is sold every where.

What's the 4gb problem? I am coming from a 2gb phone so I guess it will be fine
Well it's been I will that I'm using 4gb , 6gb and 8gb and Everytime the 4 gb on Oreo have bad ram management
I'm using Mi A2 4/64, I don't see any RAM problems.
I have the 6/128Gb config and have notices that with the august update a bit more smoothness to the phone. RAM management is good with the 6GB. Not had any issues with the proximity sensor or adaptive brightness.
The hardware based problems occurred in "Indian" manufactured one. Because other countries made Mi A2's doesn't have those problems.
I have 6gb variant with august update, could see proximity sensor problem pop up once in a while. irritates me. the screen never turns off during call.
I guys I'm from India considering buy mi a2 but confused between 4gb and 6gb ram variant. They've only launched 4gb var here, 6gb var will arrive in a cpl of month i guess. I want to know abt memory management in 4gb var...? Is it really too laggy upon heavy usage..? Plz share some screenshots of ram usage page.
Currently I'm using moto x4 sd630 with 4gb ram variant and in worst cases too i get atleast 1 gb free ram.

I confirm my phone has some memory management problem, but not with the RAM, but with the ROM.
This are my results with Disk Benchmark: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=us.hipxel.performance.disk.speed.test

This does not makes sense at all.

The only issue i have is when I'm talking on the phone with the screen deactivated by the proximity sensor and during the call i want to check something fast on the screen and then go on with the phonecall, after this trick the screen won't turn off anymore and by the time I observe this, I already posted something o facebook, texted my mom, started 70 apps and turned on the camera and torch with my ear. It's my third cheapster SD6XX phone since google killed the nexus line, working with industrial controllers i can relate this with the scan time of the signals in the processor or don't know but all behave the same and it's really annoying ("calibration" does not help.). Memory wise 4gb is more than enough for Oreo, we'll see with P.

No, but the software it self separates internal from external and I did both tests.
So, physically no external storage, but internally, phone has internal and external storage.

Proximity sensor and heating issue
I bought A2 in India via Amazon. Aug update done. Today when I was on a call I realised that my torch was on. I found that phone was on during call. Yesterday I also faced a issue that camera app hangs and phone got heated quickly ..may be because if camera app remains open in background...need to find out...certainly not impressed with my first and last Xiaomi device

"Better experience" is a broad and subjective term, there would never be any definitive answer for that. However, you should normally get 'yes' in OP3 forum and 'no' here (some abnormal people say 'yes' here, wonder why they keep reading mi5 forum if they don't like it).
Im deciding too but prefer the size of the Mi5 and the fact its £100 cheaper than the OP3 if you get a 32GB version.
If you already have Mi 5, I don't think it's worth buying OP3 since the hardware is mostly the same.
Things that differentiate OP3 from Mi 5:
- Oxygen OS: If you love stock Android, this is a big plus since Oxygen OS is basically stock Android with some new features. You also get ambient display and gestures while display is off.
- 5.5'' AMOLED Screen: Bigger display (bigger phone size). Better contrast. Saves battery when displaying dark colors. More saturated but you can use SRGB mode.
- Metal unibody: If you prefer metal unibodies, OP3 is a plus. Mi 5 I believe is using glass/ceramic with a metal frame.
- RAM: OP3 comes with 6GB but it's overkill. Mi 5 is perfectly fine with 3/4 GB of RAM. Heck even my gaming PC has "only" 8 GB of RAM.
- Storage: OP3 comes only with 64 GB while Mi 5 has 32/64/128 GB options. Mi 5's 64 GB option is also cheaper than OP3 64 GB.
Camera is basically the same on both phones. They have the same sensor (IMX298), OIS, 16 MP and f/2.0 lenses.
Both have 3000 mAh batteries. OP3 is Li-Ion and Mi 5 is Li-Po.
If you are an audiophile though, I've read that Mi 5 uses Qualcomm's Aqstic (DAC, amp + codec) which is the same setup as HTC 10 and will give you much better sound quality than OP3, since OP3 doesn't have that (I can't find any reference that it has Aqstic) although it's rocking the same SoC (Snapdragon 820).

Mi5 is Best Quality Phone
yes it is worth it. go for 1+3.
If you like larger displays, or oversaturated AMOLEDs, yeah sure the OnePlus 3 will improve your experience. Otherwise you could just unlock and flash your Mi 5.
The difference I reckon would be that unlocking OnePlus phones is a very easy process and do not void any warranties.
yes I think it's worth it. Go for it
I think in my opinion,MI5 have better battery life. If you want more ram,one plus three.

That's what is called having a perspective from all POV.
Xiaomi is notorious in releasing bug-free kernel sources. MIUI was the best in its fifth version (my opinion) and then onward, every iterations has been a crappy ride. And without a proper source code release - the custom ROMs have tough time to work flawlessly. Xiaomi has always been non-cooperative with the Dev community. And have you ever visited Xiaomi forum? I mean... come on!! Whose fertile idea was it to force you to post a "comment" before you can download something (almost all of the time) !!!
OnePlus 3 is a Dev friendly device. Can you give instance of one more company, who releases the source code even before the official release of the device itself?? (Before someone pounds in - yes, I know it was all a part of the large publicity stunts - then again we the users are benefited at the end). I only wish OnePlus 3 came out with a QuadHD IPS-LCD. Personally, I despise Amoled panels.

I'm a diamond member there. That "feature" is poster intention, normal ROM and important tools downloads don't need it. Posters hide download links in their post to gain reputation, to become higher level members as well. It's a system that makes MIUI forum looks active, despite most comments are only "thanks" or "great".
The MI 5 is better than the OP3 only in one aspect : its smaller size. Otherwise, the OP3 is better about :
- sturdiness (remember the iPhone 6 bendgate ? the MI 5 is much worse)
- android development (just compare their xda forums)
- LTE frequencies
Since you are from Croatia, MI 5 does not support LTE band 20 (800MHz), I think that would be the deal breaker.

You see - that was my point precisely! Why would you even 'allow' to encourage the poster(s) to demonstrate a 'reputation-gaining-mechanism' ?!?
And no, that never makes any forum active - all it makes is to create a lot of 'off-the-track' distracting post(s) in the middle of the main discussion thread.
And I am a diamond member too there (with the same name and icon).
Returning back to the main question - OP3 is an unparalleled bargain in the same price segment - grab it with all your might. By the way, I am also keeping an eye on the newly released Mi5S Plus which comes with quite attractive attributes. I doubt what will its price be?
mi5 is lighter, fits well to normal user pockets
oneplus3 is well developed contract to mi5, because xiaomi did not release the kernel source completely.

My question is: is it worth to buy a 899 Euro phone with snapdragon 855+ while next April there will be a lot of new snapdragon 865 phones even cheaper (redmi, realme, etc)?
Second question do both USB type c port support otg?

Well, thank you for your answer, my only doubt about redmi and realme, also oppo, is the software. If I'll buy one of them, the redmi k30 pro is interesting, I change the software for sure, I prefer android stock roms.
it's worth it if you buy tencent version and flash international software. you can get it for as low as 450 euros.

As the collegue above said, is so, so worthy if you buy the 430€ tencent version (now it's around 450€ normally). It's an amazing phone for daily use. Just the camera is an 8.5/10 with A10 (better than A9), but with GCam the results are amazing enough. Buy it!! I bought it like some weeks ago

SD 865 is now the standard.
90 to 120 Hz also becoming standard.
If the heavy weight, lack of 5g, no IR blaster or SD card and average camera aren't a problem for you then this is an excellent all round phone.

I haven't really been looking for alternatives since I got this phone.
A quick search suggested the Poco X2 / Redmi K30.....mid range phone though...

Nice... Let's share our first impressions here.
I would order one from Trading Shenzen right now .
Only problem is that i dont know if i have to pay VAT or other customs fees when importing it . And the main doubt i got is regarding the network bands , 4G and 5G ones . Will this phone work in UK and european countries ? Thanks in advance , waiting a reply from someone who used Trading Shenzen before regarding VAT or extra customs fees .
Do i risk having no signal if i use it in Europe 4G or 5G ?
On the (Dutch) Tweakers forum in regards to ordering the Mi 11, someone stated:
Tip: select Global Priority as a shipping method, you pay a fraction more for the shipping, but you are guaranteed no extra bill for any import duties.
So I hope that will work as well for us with the Ultra, as global priority was selected automatic.

The new Realme X7 Max 5G begins at Rs 26,999 in India for the basic 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant. The top-of-the-line model with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage will cost Rs 29,999. This makes it one of the greatest and most costly Realme smartphones on the market right now in India.
Reasons to buy :
Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.
Camera supports 4K video recording at 30 and 60 frames per second.
4500mAh battery that supports fast charging.
Available in three colour options. Asteroid Black, Mercury Silver, and Milky Way are the colours.
I'm of the opinion that Realme has priced the X7 Max 5G appropriately because for less than 30K, you get a phone with a powerful dimensity chip and a great set of cameras.
Guys, we urgently need a firmware dump from your smartphone using sp Flash tool. If you do not know how to do this, write to me. Your data will not be deleted and you do not need to unlock the bootloader.

There's already new thread on this. Just navigate.
Does anyone else have the issue, that the SD card speed goes down significantly a while after the last reboot? I tried both with a Samsung PRO 64 GB and Samsung EVO Select 512 card. At the beginning I get around 40 MB/s seq write and 90 MB/s seq read. But then, after an hour at most, it slows down to about 16 MB/s write and 22 MB/s read.
This is a huge difference and should not happen on a top end device, especially not when I am even using SD cards from the same company that work fine in other devices.
(tested with Cross Platform Disk Test CPDT, file size 0,5 GB, otherwise default settings).
I've run two tests and both maxed out at 22MB/s
What card do you use? For modern cards this is definitely too slow! It seems like theS8 can go to at least 50 write and 90 read.
Today I tested with another brand new 512 GB Samsung EVO select (2021 model). Same problem as before.
For all who are interested: I sent an error report via the Samsung Members app and after a while I got a response. This appearantly is a known issue and will be fixed in a future Update:
"Dear Samsung customer,
thank you for your message, we are happy to help you.
The phenomenon you describe is already known and will be fixed with an upcoming update.
We ask you for a little patience so that we can solve the phenomenon for you in the best possible way.
Please check regularly whether a software update is offered to you and install it if necessary."
Thanks for checking in with them, and reporting back!
Next update would probably be Android 12L with OneUi 4.1.1. Since some site said Galaxy Z Fold 3 got august update and after that the Android 12L will be next for it. So then I suspect galaxy tab s8 ultra will get it next too.

I downloaded a new update for the XAR Tab S8 Ultra yesterday or the day before but I haven't installed it yet. Here's hoping the 12L/12.1 update comes soon for it.
The new update had my micro card reading at 80mb/s and writing at 39mb/s
