Hi,
This is my first time flashing a custom rom onto my Optimus 2X. I have decided on the latest Miui as it seems to be fast, stable and looks awesome.
I was hoping some lovely people could give me some advice to help my first flash go well.
I have created a backup through CWR of my current stock ROM. I have also backed up all my apps through titanium backup.
I was wondering what the best baseband and RIL is best suited to the Miui ROMs? And also do I need to covert to ext4 or will be ROM do this for me?
Once iv done this is there anything else I should do to prepare my phone for Miui?
Thank you for any advice you can give me!!
Sedge.
I usually flash a stock Rom via smarflash in order to have a cleaner phone. You also have to calibrate your battery after changing Rom, trough some specific apps that you can find easly gratis on the market. For the bb i have never had problems on MIUI, they all worked for me.

I'm on the latest MIUI too on BB725. Works fine here. I'm thinking MIUI supports ext3 and ext4 partitions and don't make changes to what you already have. I've been jumping through roms and don't see anything that says MIUI is converting my partitions.
MIUI's base is cm7 so you might want to consider running the latest cm7 stable (or nightly if you feel adventurous) for o2x.
I'm still a bit biased on stock roms since they're release from the vendors so they'd likely get all the features you want due to closed-sourced 3rd party drivers. There are a lot of good roms based on stock souce here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1002. Consider giving em a spin.
If you're just after the MIUI look, check these launchers:

I have installed CM 7.1 and it all seems fine apart from my battery icon is saying i have a almost full battery when i know when i started the flash it was around 30%.
Shall I let the battery run all the way down and then charge to full and then re calibrate my battery. Will this solve my problem?
thanks James

Try booting to recovery and wip battery stats
Hi. I unlocked my bootloader. I had the RomAur 6.0 and everything was fine.
Yesterday i tried to install the slimkat, but camera did not work. FC, and no focus. So i tried another kernel (doom, philz, and pimped) but none of theme fixed the camera problem.
Then i installed criskelo, romaur 6.2 and restored my nandroid backup that i made before all off this. But the camera still doesn't work.
No focus, and no take shots. The camera hangs ebery time i try to make a photo.
Someone sayd i have to go back to 534, relock my bootloader, try if camera works again, and then reunlock the bootloader.
So is this the price i have to pay if i want my bootloader unlocked?
I never had this problems with samsung.
Clear data in all camera apps in the settings
Nothing changed. If you meaned to delete in the app settings menu, to delete all the data.
settings/apps/all
Goto ALL of the camera apps and click on clear data
there are several camera apps you will need to do it for
I made all of them. But nothing changed. (or are there sys apps?)
I searched all the apps, and cancelled the data off all apps having somthing like camera. But nothing changed.
Up plase help.

So:
I made this: i reblocked the BL with the TA-Backup.
I flashed a ftf of 680. I made a boot, camera was working.
I reopened the BL and flashed a Stock kernel with cwm, rebooted, and camera was still going.
So i decided to restore my nandroid backup that i made two days ago. But now the camera is not working again.
So what could be the problem? Can it be a kernel problem?
Please help.
I have exact the same problem on 4.4 kit kat Criskelo Rom with DoomKernel v11, tried so many things i dont know how to fix that without going back to stock 4.4 or even to 4.3 ?! :c
Its good knowing not to be alone with this problem.
Now i am on romaur 6.2 and all is fine.
I tried slim kat with pimped kernel but su was not able to install.

hehe yeah you are not alone
okay, got one question to you. You did this :
I flashed a ftf of 680. I made a boot, camera was working.
I reopened the BL and flashed a Stock kernel with cwm, rebooted, and camera was still going.
right? then you restored a backup- and it went broke again.
but the backup was not on stock kernel and others right?
So maybe if i stay on stock and flash a rom directly from 680. it will be working?
& i think all the steps with locking-relocking bl are not necessary (& i hope so- didn`t make a ta-backup :/ )
Will be trying that out tonight- will report back
Yes thats what i did.
Inviato dal mio C6903 utilizzando Tapatalk
it is fine for you?
it is not for me
i dont have a ta backup.
% i lost my cam forever probably.
great end. only becasue a simple update.

I installed your VanirAOSP 4.4.2 but I had no network, the baseband and also the IMEI were unknown. I followed all steps for installation. I used TWRP, and was on a stock firmware when I did the installation. Returned to stock via ODIN and network was back and so was the IMEI. What could be cause of this. It also happened with 2 other 4.4.2 roms. Most puzzled.

We do not have anyone with much free time and device to go back and deal with old CMs (this sentence is crucial) - even with newest one. AntaresOne said he will if he gets SGSA again and free time.
Solution = new device with an active development.

Since apparently doesn't need updates, look how works well 20131117 build
In 2014 I developed a new build backporting a lot of things from our CM11 tree, like new kernel, cpu/gpu overclock, novathor settings with everything working (except storage swap, but in 4.2 can be done easy by modifying vold.fstab in system/etc), fixed wifi toggle bug... The only thing bad is that it's unstable since gets some random reboots, slowdowns, force closes... Was just a test to start to backport and get these things work better without that problems, when I'll get that other janice my intention is to continue and release a last build with new goodies and without problems

Hi, im using now zui and it's pretty similar on concept to miui and works pretty well but I installed just yesterday and I'm tweaking it a little bit yet, what's not working fine it's the notifications I receive only few and I activate it all also the 4g its not working fast so I will probably switch the card to try.
I aksi tried nightlys 13.1 and 14.1 that works also very well a and it's the most similar to android stock.
What I notice with zui is that the battery life its a bit better and the camera also do better photos in my view.
So try yourself and decide and of course forget about the capacite buttons.

I am using the ZUI 2.3.045 as well. It is by far better and faster than any other custom ROM. The fingerprint sensor is much more reliable and fast and the battery life better. Idle battery consumption is better too.
Also, in my opinion its far more beautiful than stock Android but that is a personal taste. Surprisingly, ZUK has done a good job, something unusual for a Chinese company other than Xiaomi and Meizu.

Does 2.3.045 can install xposed and also viper4android?
Cuz I am planning to try this rom with twrp flash version

I found it on another forum and it is flashable via TWRP. Root is achieved after flashing the SU via TWRP also. Unfortunately, I haven't tried installing neither Xposed nor viper.
Edit: Yeah, this is the one I flashed. Google services and Play Store are installed via the Chinese Store that comes with the ROM.

The battery is better than any other ROM I've tried so far (Nuclear 6.0.1/7.1.1, Cyanogenmod 14.1, MIUI). GPS is good although I must admit I've done little testing. As for stability, yes, it is rock solid.

No bugs so far and I've been using it for a week now. Yes, you need to wipe system as well. So it is cache, dalvik cache, system and data. Of course, don't wipe the internal storage as there is where your ROM zip will be.
I should mention that I restored all my apps with Titanium Backup and it worked flawlessly.
