Hi!!
I'm very intrigued to galaxy note 9 due to the fact it works with HP lap dock based on a YouTube video I watched..
Is anyone here having HP Lapdock?
Can you share whether the audio & USB C port on the right side works when note 9 is connected to it?
Till now, I'm using a S8 with S9 ported ROM in it, and the sound, TouchPad, and USB C port on the right side doesn't work (except for charging).
If note 9 enables all those features, I'll be gladly changing my phone again for it. If not, I'll stick to my S8 and just buy a Tab S4.
Also, here is the YouTube link I mentioned :

Yep!!
Intrigued trying it myself when my note 9 arrives!!
I really hoped the sound system works, unlike using it on hacked dex system on older devices..
I just got my Note9 yesterday and I can confirm that it does work with the HP Lapdock flawlessly. I attached a video (sorry for the terrible quality, I usually don't do videos and thought it helps confirm it with proof). If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
watch?v=Catf9nqi2xE (Just made this account to reply and since I don't have enough posts, I can't post the link fully)
Everything seems to work (speakers, trackpad, keyboard, etc.). The only thing that I saw that was a little finicky was that the right/left click on the trackpad is a hit or miss so you may just have to double tap on the track pad for it to read as a click.
Edit: I think this sort of makes the TabS4 semi-obsolete, assuming you don't mind carrying an extra cable or something for charging (since I don't know the battery life using the hp lapdock - haven't tested it fully).
I have a lap dock, The lap dock confirmed to have the latest firmware T0059 - but the issue of black screen and constantly rebooting is persistent. Tried with several devices (Huawei P20 Pro, 2 Galaxy Note 9 -both Exynos, and the HP Elite X3 phone). Only with the Elite phone it worked as expected, keyboard worked fine too.
With Android devices, it was not working and although you could see the keyboard working fine, the screen kept between showing the HP logo then black screen the rebooting.
This is all tested using the wired mode and connecting via the usb-c port on the left of the lap dock. Tested also with several cables, some of them confirmed to be Thunderbolt USB-C 3.1 (Gen 2).

Hmm... it means we still have an unknown factor that made some of it works, while others don't...
My exynos note 9 6/128 still works in it (except for audio output and USB port)..

What is the part number of your unit? It seems that those starting with Y are not compatible. But those starting with V seems to be the good ones. Can you confirm? You will find the part number type on the back of the lapdock. Thanks.

I forgot which one it is (currently out of city), but personally I've been using it with my note 9 and it works, except for sound in wired mode, and USB port.

Hi, can anyone please advise a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse that is compatible with galaxy note and won't be too heavy on my pocket?

if anyone can list any they have had success with that would be great.
even any models confirmed not to work will help narrow down the search.

Search after online shpops ala Amazon or E-Bay. You van use every Bluetooth Keyboard is compatible.
No Ultraslim so maybe the Freedom Pro?
As I look for a reasonable keyboard for my Note, allow me to lament that I can't get a Think Outside Ultraslim. After several years of heavy use, my keys started sticking but they were the best.
Freedom/ Freedom Pro have some extra buttons and are quite nice. As I write this, Amazon has the seemingly identical Verbatim version for $10 less than the Freedom Pro. aren't as good - and the one that I did buy didn't last as long - though it's what I'll likely get unless there's something better on offer.
I have taken the time to connect an OTG (On The Go) cable into my Nexus 7 tablet to demonstrate for you how to take advantage of the USB Host capabilities of the device. You can plug in USB input devices such as a keyboard or a mouse, or both, with the use of a USB hub. You can also plug in a USB drive for extended data storage, as long as you download a free app from the Play Store called StickMount. Now, StickMount requires that your device is rooted, so if you have not done that yet, please follow my "Idiots Guide to Unlocking & Rooting your Nexus 7", located here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sK9avekmA1c
Results may vary in terms of what USB devices work, and what doesn't work.

I'll test with the Dice Player, and I'll check with other USB drives that I have. I expected it to be a little choppy, and when it WAS, I wasn't surprised at all. I'll see if I can get it to be better.

Do you know what the read rate of the USB stick is? That will factor in the choppiness. I have no doubt the nexus can easily play 1080p mkv's. Did you try copy it to your internal storage?

That would have been a fair next step. I'll have to play with it a bit more.
UPDATE: I did get different results when trying with different USB sticks. It appears that the quality/RW speed of the stick DOES make a huge difference.

I'm in the UK, but Amazon's site search provides:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=micro+usb+otg&x=0&y=0
Ignore the 'make specific' designation for these, OTG is OTG, no matter what the make. Any of these will work with the Nexus 7.

Also, if you're after a small physical sized usb but large capacity, I suggest the Patriot Axle 64gb. its even smaller when you remove the rotating plastic on it!

Awesome. Glad you figured it out.
Working devices USB-OTG
Nexus 7 works well with an OTG lead from Amazon (search for Usb OTG Accenter) and through this my 16Gb Sandisk Cruiser Fit works really fast. My cheap supermarket wireless mouse works well as do each usb keyboard I have tried. If you connect an iPod touch then Gallery asks if you want to import the photos to the Nexus - super cool!

True, any OTG cable should work fine with your nexus. I personally favor the ones with the angled connector as that seems to protect the micro usb ports slightly better...
hi, i have gathered from reading here that any otg cable should work with the N7. does anyone know if this is this true as well for the different usb hubs out there as well? for example, http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=electronics&field-keywords=usb hub.

Has anyone gotten these to work? These cables have the g-tab plug in on one end, and 3-RCA's + charging USB on the other. I read older posts that tabs running gingerbread worked, but no luck for me today. I am running Paranoid Android on my P1000 and cannot get these to work. I want to set up my Galaxy tab as a radio in my car, but do not want to run seperate line aside from charging. Plus it would be cool to run vidio to flip down screens. Wondering if anyone has had any luck, or perhaps there is a patch or file I can install in order to get the a/v out from stuck plug...Thanks

Try to get one myself from ebay. Anyone knows rough price?
Is there a way to access dex without a dex station on note 8 with beta oreo update?
it's doable already without Oreo, there's a thread about somewhere, think you need root though
I believe the Microsoft Display Dock works too? I haven't actually tried myself though, I'll give it a try later and update as I have one from my previous phone.
Dex/Nintendo Switch Adapters
Been using this Wofalo Adapter on stock 7.1.1 for the past week. The only issue is that it does not charge the phone. Was thinking about returning it and ordering the C-FORCE-CF003 Adapter so that I can charge while using Dex, but I've read that Samsung disabled third party docks in S8 Oreo beta 4, so I'm assuming that they also have that waiting for us. Kind of a bummer becase i prefer the portability, access to the headphone jack and extra usb ports of these adapters. Might just wait to see if the dex pad rumors pan out
I purchased an adapter on Amazon, but upgraded to Oreo and it doesn't recognize it for Dex. Just HDMI out.
I have a Note 8 with December 1 2017 security Patch. I can access DeX via hdmi and a multiport usb C to hdmi connector (no DeX dock). Weird thing is that my unit has HDMI Mode under Connections Settings - More Connection Settings while others do not even if we have the same Nougat version, same firmware and same patch. Any one can tell me why? I would post screenshots I just dont know how to. Thank you.

Well i bought a diferent brand (kz) and the mic works just fine.
I'm facing a similar problem. And I'm guessing that it boils down to the wiring of the jack within the dongle. I just learned that there are two international wiring standards for audio jacks ( OMTP and CTIA ) and sometimes companies do it one way or the other.. Adapters that fix this are cheap and small enough, but in my case, I don't have one ready to test.

Did you already have test one of adapters you are talking about?
I suggest you buy this adapter. Tested by me on Sony headphones and mic + remote button work flawlessly. Given that it has a DAC and converts the signal, any headphones should work.
I haven't tried any headset from the dongle but I can attest that the sound quality is quite good for a variety of headphones. I have a ATH-M50X, a legendary headphone of 38 ohms, and the Mi8 moves it effortlessly. Also I have compared the sound to my Audinst hud-mx1 desktop dac/amp and there is only, apart from the bigger power capacity, a bit of improved sound quality. Good bass and highs, it is only a bit thin in the midrange. The dongle is a passive adaptor, the dac and amp chip is inside the phone. (Qualcomm Aqstic WCD9340).
