I have been experiencing battery drains after this new update (RH5)...usually I will get 5.5 hrs SOT with 25% battery.
Yesterday I only get 3.5hrs SOT with 24% left with same usage pattern.
Has anyone experiencing the same ?
After the update 4h30min of sot and 30% of battery remaining.
I have no idea if it's good or bad. It's just my third charge cycle.

It just reminds me of the s9+'s first OTA in March. Or the first or 2nd OTA of the S8+ last year for that matter.
..
Erase cache in recovery, give it a week time and then recheck. In my own experience, Doze takes a little longer time in Samsung flagships than other phones due to some obvious reasons.
Omg I expect more sot from N9

I'm thinking that update only got pushed to the EX version. I haven't seen anyone get the Note 9 IS as yet but I could be wrong.
The Note 8 delivers 4.30 Hours SOT
by 30% the device is 3.30 Hours SOT.
So yes this is bad.

I got 2 Note9: 512GB + 128GB
I suspect part of this reduction is that, in my case, it appears that the screen brightness needs retraining - after the update a few days back I noticed that the screen is notably brighter.... Same deal, I think, to when I first bought mine.

Another possibility is the change in SOT has nothing to do with the update but is caused by variable usage that you aren't fully aware of.
As an example in the last five days, with the same Android version and same apps installed my screen on time has varied as follows
Battery 100% to 13% (87%) 6hrs 54m sot
87% to 16% (71%) 4 hrs 3m
80% to 0% (80%) 4hrs 51m
100% to 42% (58%) 5hrs 33m
94% to 8% (86%) 3hrs 26m
"ARI1" OTA with September Sec. Patch is the "new" update in my region- flashed 5 days back.
Excessive battery drain & heating I had been facing post flashing. Erasing cache in recovery didn't help but factory resetting and then erasing did fix both.
Additionally, ARCore" by Google was draining up little more than usual and is now fixed with an update.
I got a new note 9 and would end up with up to 51% of battery life when I went to bed at midnight. Got an update and the battery couldn't make it till 6:00 pm. Called AT&T and they had me get a new note 9 since it was less than 14 days. Got a new out of the box note 9 and updated it before we transferred anything onto it. Two days later it was asking me to do an update again. I postponed the update for over a week. The lowest my battery got in that week was 39% at midnight after a heavy usage day. Then yesterday (10/17/18) morning it said it was doing an update and shutting my phone down in 10 seconds even though I was not on WYFI . It did the update without my permission. At 6:00 pm I had to plug in the charger because it was at 7% battery. Today at 6:56 pm the battery was at 7%.
I checked the battery usage on every app. Device Maintenance used 18%, Find My Mobile used 18%, Bixby Voice Wake up used 19% (and I have it shut off as much as possible), Samsung Experience Home used 11% and Google used 10%. How do we fix this programming problem since none of these apps can be controlled by the user?

Since yesterday I have a LG G Watch R. Very happy with it but the battery drain is terrible this first day: on average 6,40% per hour. That means 16 hours and that is 30 hours less than advertised.
I have tht newest firmware installed, Facer and WatchMaker and some other apps. MAinly standard watchfaces. Screen is always on.
How was your battery the first day and the days after?
I know from the Moto360 forum that that battery needs a number of charges before it functions optimal. Is it the same for the LGWR?

I got mine today. Charged it to 100% After 2 hours of fairly light use with screen NOT set to always on it has dropped to 86%.
So at 7% per hour it will last just over 14 hours.
It will be going back if there is not a huge improvement.
Huge difference between this and the Moto 360. Sold the 360 on craigsllist already.
I am using facer with ambient mode on; this is basically same as having the screen on the entire time. After 14 hours, 60% battery left!!! So happy right now.
I managed 15 hours yesterday and had 5% left when I put it on charge. Its the first day of ownership though and I spent most of the day playing with it!
Today so far is 6% gone in two hours but I've hardly touched it. Jury is out on if this is going to be another battery killer, I won't be charging it through the day and if it doesn't last then its no use to me.
88% after 4 hours today. Much better.
Sitting watching TV, I noticed something was on the watch screen.
When I looked it seemed to be a search for some sort of porn.
I have only noticed this once so far.
My phone used to do random google searches when it was set to respond to "OK Google"
On the second day the drain is much better/less.
I used mine now for prox. 8 hours and 68% remaining. That's 4% per hour. Yesterday (the first day was 6,4% per hour).
Brightness on 4 (from 6) and always on. Watchface is Facer.
I think and hope tomorrow is even better.
Very happy with the phone btw. Beautifull screen, very quick and I like it better than my moto360. Think I'm gonna sell it !
I have great battery life on the R so far. But the battery drain on my phone after installing Android Wear is pretty significant. Anyone else experince this?
I switched off location services when at home and it helped the phones battery life.
Well I've been running now for 13 hours off charge now and still have 53% remaining! I'm much happier with that.
Using digitalog face and used the LGWR a fair amount today.
Agreed on the phone battery drain though, not sure if it's having Bluetooth on all the time or wake locks from Android wear.
67% after 14 hours of very light use.

I'm surprised they don't advertise this.... I need a watch that does random porn searches!!
44 % left after 16,5 hours. So that is again a lot better than yesterday. 3,4% per hour. Always on and a Facer app. Much, much better than my Moto
I took my phone and watch off charge at 13:00 yesterday. Went out for an hour used the watch a few times. Have used both very little since then but they have been on and connected. 28 hours after coming off charge, phone at 75% and watch at 50%. Quite happy with that. I will obviously get less if using it more but at least I know it will easily last a day.

I assume it could happen with any smart watch. I am surprised I have never heard of it before.
It has not done it again.
On my fourth day of use, the drain is only 3,2% per hour. Always on and a watchface from Facer. I'm impressed.
im really pleased with the battery, after a few days use im not worried at all about whether it will last the day or not. the watch face / colour seems to have an impact, i was used a colour face from facer that seemed to drain it quicker but still a full long day took it down to 30% and i mean like 6am - 10pm.
very impressed!
After a full week of using the G WatchR, the drain is steady around 3% per hour.
I can confirm the number. I get 3.3% per drain hour but the watch wakes up quite often because of the cards, emails and messages I receive on all the clients I use (4 of them). As long as I can manage more than 16 hours on a full charge I'm satisfied.

Bout 18 hours screen on and moderate use.
I am only getting around 3 hours and 15 minutes of screen on time. What are you getting? The reviews usually pointed towards 5 hours plus....
I didn't test it but you might clear the Google Play Services cache and reboot your P10.
EMUI seems to have some problems with this Service on some devices which can cause a huge battery draw. I can't relate it to my VTR-L09 but maybe this helps.

Now I'm starting to hesitate buying the p10 or plus. I have the Z3 and I'm really spoiled by its battery performance.
No screen shot but I had 6hr 10m with approximately 15% charge remaining during the last charge. However none of that time was playing games or watching video.
In the last 2 weeks there are many reports of battery drain on p10 and mate 9. Battery drain started suddenly, with google account manager and play services eating battery like crazy. I uninstalled ALL apps and still it didn't help. I'll try factory reset and report back.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/battery-drain-google-account-manager-t3580744
Factory reset has no effect. Battery drains even without any updates and apps installed. Power saving mode has no effect either. Batery is draining steadily with 2-3% per hour.
To anyone interested: it's wifi that drains too much battery. Battery drains 2 or 3 times faster when wifi is enabled. In addition, when wifi enabled, phone is waking up from sleep all the time.
I'm getting around 4 hours to 5 hours OST Is that ok? Is my phone faulty?

Weird, I am getting pretty good SOT with my Mate 9, thankfully.
Last charge was 16 hours and 5 SOT and had 30% left.
Currently at 12 hours and 4 hours SOT and 45% left. Don't think it will be as good as last charge, but close.

Interesting. I currently have a Z5 which the battery life isn't the best - I won't get a full day out of it. And I'm debating between the Mate 9 or the P10. The Mate 9 does have a larger battery than the P10, but is there a noticeable difference in battery life on the Mate 9 over the P10?
Mine has only 2.5h SoT (((
My P10 has a SOT of about 5.5 hours, but I am a light user: no Facebook, heavy games or YouTube.
Stupid question alert....where do you find SoT in EMUI? I can't for thew life of me find it in the normal battery management.
I use the GSam Battery app for this, but there are more who can do the same.
Hi all,
I having issue with my note 9, and I’m new to using note, is a 4% drain normal? Unplug at 12am and not use since and this morning I check battery was at 96% at 6.45am
How long have you had it. It takes some time for it to do battery optimizations but that drain doesn't seem too bad.
tat is only my 2nd or 3rd charge, have it only for 2 or 3 day
I have been draining about .7% an hour since I got it. I wish it was little bit better but the SOT more than makes up for it.
Sorry, but what is SOT? Screen on time?
So now on android ppl use SOT to measure if a battery usage is normal?

Wow I'm telling you some of you people have some really unrealistic expectations. Your complaining your phone looses a few percent in 6-8 hours. What do you expect? If you don't want your battery to drain then turn off your phone or plug it in. And then don't come complain you miss calls or have to have it plugged in all the time becusse your worried about a few percent while you sleep.

Preferable to not leave it plugged in at night if you want to lessen the longevity of your battery.
~.7% an hour is not bad. With root and older phones I was able to lessen to 2-3% per 7-8h. Ideally that is what you want, less than .5% an hour. But we don't have root. Other ways to get less drain at night during sleep is to turn off sync or airplane mode or better yet turn your phone off. But as I said .7% an hour is all day for me in standby. I don't even know what it is at night, probably less.
I've been getting well over 10h SOT and had another hour or two of SOT left should I have chosen to drain down to <5% battery. I have been able to get 8h+ SOT over 36h on a charge. Your expectations are unrealistic as are many others on here. Be realistic or get another phone.

That's interesting has to be a app causing the drain what third party apps do you have installed? the screen res wouldn't affect anything in terms of battery life because the screen is off. I charged last night and I'm at 16 percent right now on WQHD almost been 22hrs since I charged my phone

Change the resolution to WQHD+, the power saving is too little to worth the downgrade of screen quality. Tested on s7e,s8+ and s9+ and read about it for note 9.
Also worth to note that iphones tend to show less drain at high percentages and then speed up after below 60%, i.e. if you leave the iphone over night with 30% battery, most likely it will drop 1-2%. Still, iphones standby is a little bit better vs android and samsungs. I achieved 1% drop over night or non in M8 android 4.4 times, not since them. My best is around 0.3%/h via root and custom tweaking, for samsung stock it's normal to have 0.4-1%/h. Hope that brings some clarity.

I know that sot was only below 2h but considering remove the phone from charger 19h ago and also streaming music on Spotify for 2-3 h, I think losing 39% of battery is reasonable. SoT is not the only indicator for good battery life imo.

Does anyone notice worse battery life on .161?
I had my phone repaired, because I damaged the speaker (they actually changed my speaker, display and phone base - I don't know why).
I get a noticeable lower battery life. The phone got updated to .161 right after I got it from Huawei's service center.
So I was wondering if the problem is the repair itself, like they damaged the battery during the repair or it's a software problem?

Subjectively . . . I don't notice any difference.
For me it's a little bit worse than before. With previous firmware .153/.158 I covered more or less 2 days. Now with .161 I can't.

To me it seems fine. Took the phone off charger at 3 am. It's now 11:30 am and I have 1 hour and 44 minutes of SOT and the battery is at 86%. That's still around 9-10 hours of SOT in a day.
I've had .161 for about a week. No noticeable change in battery life.
For me, .153 was better in battery life.
.161 seems to drain faster.

No difference here just as great battery life on 161. Easily two full days for me.
After my phone updated itself, the battery drains faster. Under my normal use, before .161 i could've get two days with 6-7 hours of screen-on time. Now it predicts 27-30 hours and I recharge in less then two days. Ever since I bought this phone I have some apps with battery management optimizations turned off.
