Root honor 9n? A mystery yet to be solved by magisk - Magisk

I bought honor 9n but can find anu root method. Pls if presnt im simple steps,

You first have to unlock your bootloader, but Huawei is no longer giving those unlock codes out
Sent from my H1611 using Tapatalk

Honor/Huawei completely locked their botloader and it is impossible to root or tweak them.

Depending on which huawei devices and which firmware, you can still be able to unlock, for now, using alternative paying service.

Even if he pays, it won't be of much use because in their latest update, they patched the kernel in a way so that we can't root their phones anymore even if the bootloader is unlocked.

yes, this is true.
i'm on Nova 2s, same thing happen on me after i flash latest upate (Patch01), magisk is not working.
although when i check, my bootloader is still unlocked, that is a small good news.
when i check and compare older and latest kernel.img and ramdisk.img, they've made a couple changes in them, maybe seniors will find out how to workaround this and we will have root again!

Android Pay on rooted Mi Mix? Possible?

Hi Mi Mix fans!
Does anybody know how to run Android Pay on rooted Mi Mix?
I have tried Xposed + Rootcloak and it doesn't work...
Is there anybody who run Android Pay on Mi Mix with unlocked bootloader and root installed?
Even restore an app with the configured data doesn't work. After the app is started Android Pay clear the settings and want me to set up the payments cards again. Then after click on "Add card" it displays the message "You cannot run Andoid Pay on this device, because root...." etc. etc.
Any help will be very appreciated!

Does SultanXDA also remove the other security requirements of android pay? Last I tried android pay it says, either I have unlocked bootloader, custom firmware or device is rooted.
Also, my company requires me to use MobileIron's suite of apps for email and such. It won't activate w/ Root and also usb debugging (WTF). If any of you guys are in IT and have the ability to recommend software, stay away from that POS.

I think you would need to hide root as well with suhide or an equivalent.
the unlocked bootloader is the most important piece here, once that's done the rest is easy.

Over on reddit, I was chatting with someone who was using Android Pay on his Mi Mix straight out the box but it was a vendor ROM. He flashed one of the official ROMs and it stopped working but that was because he'd unlocked his bootloader in the process.
After trial and error (and nearly bricking his phone), the conclusion was that it will work on the China Stable ROM, provided your bootloader is locked and you're not rooted.
I'm going to switch back to stable and re-lock my bootloader this weekend to see if it works for me.

I got a feeling that it works only when Google had approved of the rom. When I flash the china stable when I got my phone, it was newly updated and hence not approved by Google yet.

Seems to have worked - at least it let me set up a card etc.
Just need to use it to pay for something for 100% confirmation but I doubt it'll be an issue.
Downside is, I'd forgotten how China-y the Stable firmware is after using the Xiaomi.eu ROM.
OK, final update.
The app works on China Stable up to the point when you try to make a payment, that has never worked for me - it simply doesn't interact with the POS system.
Android Pay was about the only reason to go stock, IMO. Given it doesn't work, I'll probably switch back to Xiaomi.eu.

Manual update P10?

Anyone succeed with manually updating P10? I have tried with no sucess.
Old method is not working.
Thanks
No but did you made the dload folder with the update.app file and then booted into the stock recovery mode?
I woudnt know any other way since they removed that from update settings : |
I tried that, does not work.
You can't manual update the P10 or P10 Plus, since it requires an online check.
They removed the ability to manual update via dload methode.
The only way at this moment is to use FunkyHuawei!

nope : Phone LOCKED
FRP unlocked so they cant see the difference they can only find out if they check if you got the bootloader unlock code.but you also could request the code and dont use it.
Any progress here? The update has been out for months in other regions but I still haven't got anything here in Sweden :/

How to Pause security updates for future hopes of root on locked bootloader?

I realize the answer might be it isn't possible but if it is how can I stop my phone from updating in hopes that a root method might become available.
I just got my first update notice from the phone and root is something I really do prefer to have despite what I lose and all the alternatives out there for root related apps.
Thanks in advance for anyone who helps.

Updating will not effect you being able to root in the future. When root is obtained for the Snapdragon variant (don't hold your breath) You will be able to root regardless of updates taken

That doesn't seem to be correct. I have note 8 Verizon and I can't root because my bootloader is updated to version 3 or 4. You have to be on bootloader 1 to root and it's not possible to downgrade your bootloader, so I'm screwed. At the moment I'm trying to stop the updates in hope that a root method will become available for later bootloader versions. My bootloader has upgraded 2 versions since I found out and can't seem to stop the updated. I even have them disabled in Dev opt.

Correct (his post is over a year old). You'll need to disable the update-related packages to stop them completely.

ota updates while rooted

Hello!
I unlocked and rooted my p20 pro with magisk. I have the CLT-L04. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out where to get the updated ota files and how to flash them with fastboot. I have done some reading although it is unclear.
Also unsure if it's worth keeping my phone unlocked since Huawei won't be providing codes in four days.
Best regards
Download firmware here:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder
And flash via hurupdater
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
And even you relock your BL, you can use the same code unlock it again.
Great thank you that worked. I can't seem to find the code I used to unlock my bootloader, does it need to be the same? (Not planning on relocking, just curious)
Also my live wallpapers have now disappeared? I would appreciate if anyone have the theme files.
Cheers

Hi there bro! Noticed that you might be from Manila, too. I am also using a Huawei P20 Pro and on the verge of rooting. Been using Samsung mobiles for the past 4 years and have rooted all of them. Got the P20 Pro 3 months ago and somehow I cannot go on not having it rooted hehe.
Here are some notes:
1. I got the unlock code for the bootloader 2 days before Huawei stopped giving them out last month.
2. I have downloaded the TWRP (praetorian version)
3. Got Magisk v16.0
4. ADB and fastboot ready for use on mac.
A couple of questions:
1. Is it a good time to root now?
2. Why do some unlock/relock their bootloader??
Looking forward to your pieces of advice. Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Hi,
to answer your questions:
1. Rooting is a personal preference. IF you're rooting to flash customs, there's no really available custom ROMs for this device at the moment. IF you need apps that needs root access and don't care about warranty, then root.
2. Not sure about his one. I don't see any benefit of locking BL aside from the disabling of the annoying "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" warning when booting. Maybe claiming for warranty....

Generally there is a check and ota updates aren't allowed for unlocked bootloader. You should be able to download the update and sideload it.
So just to confirm, if i root my N7+, i lose my warranty and even if i revert back to stock and relock the bootloader then i still won't receive OTA updates and my warranty will still be gone?

This questions should be adequately asnswered by official support.
The warranty agreement states that it doesn't cover damage caused by modified software. In real terms that means bricking your phone, in actuality it depends on what they categorise as such.

The unofficial unlocks aren't registered to Nokia and they probably have no way to check that it was unlocked. So, lock the bootloader and you should be good for warranty.

There's currently no way you can unlock without paying. There are 2 options though. If you have a Nokia Care around you, you can convince them to flash an older version of software (before August 2018). Then you can simply buy the unlock key and use it.
Else the remote is the only option. I can offer those too (but for $8). I have some good reviews from people if that helps. I know it's still dealing with strangers and for your safety and security, you can run Windows inside a virtual machine (Virtual Box and VmWare do good). And that ensures that the remote person will only have access to the guest Windows which won't expose your host files in any way. You can destroy the guest install after that [emoji106]

I want to refresh my phone but I have yet to unlock the bootloader. Ive a few questions if anybody can advise please
If I want to unlock the bootloader and root the phone, I'll obviously have to wipe the phone during the process and lose data etc. I downloaded Swift Back up - which backs up to G Drive. Would it be possible to restore some/if not all data after I put say Lineage OS on my phone?
Or does anybody have any suggestions to back up my stuff before I go through the process to root. I suppose one way would be to manually drag/drop anything across while connected in Windows.
Any thoughts please?
