Google AutoFill? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

So on my Pixel if download an app that I've had the login info previously saved, I would just open up the app the first time and it was auto fill my log in info. This is not present for the Note 9. Samsung prompted me to use their Samsung Pass service which is the same but all my stuff is already in Google. Any ideas?

you can change it back to google auto fill. go to setting and search for autofill and you can change it to google. i did that too

[Q] Question about Google now on 4.1.2

I'm running Android 4.1.2 on my Galaxy Note. How come I do not have Google now cards? My Google now seems to work but I am seem to get a simple page result and going over the settings, I do not see any options for Google cards, etc. Is this because I'm running a lower version of android?
You need to go to settings and enable search history.

Thats it? It's in the "Google settings" right? I just did - there seems to be no change.

I think Nokiamodeln91 means the setting of Google account in the global whole Settings.
For me, Google Now is too slow when using my 3G network, only possible wth wifi.

Thanks for clearing that up. Just changed some of the global settings of my Google account. Should the effect be instant or would it take several days?

The time I get your question you already have the answer, do you ?
Anyway for me it should take about few minutes. How about your situation ?
The cards will be appear when you're moving, the Wheater, the traking from your house to your work, Places close to you, etc. Just go to Google settings and enable Google Now (if not), then touch it and enable every Card. Working fine for me, (XXLT5 April 2)

N6 not visible in device manager

Hey guys,
I`am having a problem with my Nexus 6 not beeing recognised in ADM and on the web Google Play site in device manager though it shows up in Google Play and syncing goes without problems. Running full stock MMB29V not rooted.
I contacted Google to look if the issue is beeing caused on their end because i tried everything else to solve the issue on my end.
Things i tried:
1.
1) Go into multitasking and close Android Device manager if it is open.
2) Open Google Settings app. Then go to Security. Uncheck both Android Device manager options. I believe they are Remote Erase and Tracking.
3) Go to Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Services. Clear cache and data.
4) Reboot
5) Back to Google Settings. Recheck both options.
2.
Did a data factory reset
3.
Reflashed the factory image folowed by a data factory reset.
4.
Booted up in safe mode.
ok @gee2012, ill try to make this painless..
now, in my n6, when i go into device manager, it cant find my n6. BUT, if i open my device manager app on my sgs4, it finds my n6 right away. it just seems like an android/google issue.

Yup, in My Devices its visible but not in the device manager section
Weird.
A friend had this same issue while trying to enroll - he got around this by adding a second Google account (you could create a new dummy account I guess if you don't have a second one already) to his phone, and signed up on the preview page using that account.

Could do that, but i want to know whats wrong my account (settings) or at the Google end and why it doesn`t link my phone to my account in the ADM.
Understood, and agreed. You'd want ADM to be able to locate your device in case it goes missing.
i'm exactly with this problem too on my nexus 6p.
i'm not able to see my device on ADM, keeps spining. already did all the troubleshooting i could find including the ones on the original post.
i do have another 2 google accounts on my nexus and no problem with them on finding the device in ADM and also the nexus is showing up on androidbeta enroll devices.
It might be something related with my primary google account since there is no problem on the other 2 google accounts.
The only thing that's different on my primary account is that it is protected with 2 step verification.
it's really weird and i really wanted to enroll to android N on my primary account.

My primary account is 2-step secured too. In Google Dashboard it also shows 2 Nexus 6`s , the primary secured one has the option to remove it from the account and the other non-secured one can`t be removed. Hope Google can solve this annoying issue.
I'm having the same issue. Even my second account doesn't show up.
i turned my location off, then my n6 stopped showing up in device manager. i turned on my location, and my n6 showed up in the device manager.
Tried that but no go

I tried everything humanly possible including your suggestion, at last i made a bugrepport and sent it to Google after contacting them and after investigation they can not determine the cause of the issue and they said they get back to me if they have a solution. I`am using 2 accounts atm so i can at least sign in properly.

Help!!!! Huawei login id/huawei wallet

So i decided to try and see what is Huawei wallet, wasn't sue how it'll work as i don't have NFC on my version. Once i installed it, it keeps on coming up every time i unlock the device. So i cleared all data and took away all permissions from the app, plus i signed out of my Huawei id. But now every time i unlock the device i get a login to Huawei id. when i use task manager it isn't showing up there, and when i go to the app the only option i have is force stop. But i go back out unlock the device and the same blue screen with login id comes up. It's annoying the heck out of me! how do i stop this from coming up? Is there any way to disable/uninstall this app?! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Wow, I thought it was bad enough having to ignore the "login to huawei" message I see at the top of the settings page, and which i'm never going to use.
So, no one?

a funny workaround is actually to enable the "Digital Balance" and allow the Wallet 0 screentime.
In the Wallet app, go to settings -> about -> slider to stop the app.

disable OK google listening

Ok I was able disable the OK google and it only listen when I press the mic icon. Now no matter what I do in the google app settings it's always listening. My only current option is to disable microphone permissions which isn't what I want since I can't press the mic icon and speak.
I had it setup on the note8 with android 9 to only listen when the mic icon is pressed. Got the note 9 did the same settings and it still responds when I say OK or hey google.
Currently have the microphone permissions disabled since my phone does NOT need to listen all the time. Is there a setting I am missing?
I had to remove the Google search widget to stop it from always listening. It is stupid that they removed the option to simply turn it off.

Exactly. Disable the "Google" app improve the memory and battery usage, imo
Interesting, I disabled the Google app for about 30 minutes and could not use voice with chrome so turned it back on. The mic permissions are enabled but OK google is now disabled yet I can push the mic icon and use voice for searching again.
So its exactly how I want it but a very strange way to get there. I have no clue how this worked but it did.
Well after a restart and about 20 minutes it went back to listening.
That's odd - it's definitely off on mine, but I can't find where I deactivated it! I use Nova Launcher, and there is an option in the Settings under 'Gestures and Inputs' to disable 'OK Google hotword' - maybe that's how I did it? But 'OK Google' doesn't work anywhere on my Note 9 (did this to save battery and because I have a Google Home & Mini).
EDIT: And I do have the Google App installed.
Not sure what's going on. Google runs me around when I tired to ask them. I know exactly where the setting is and its disabled but still listens for the "OK google "
Personally I would love someone with influence to get attention to this but it seems a little hit or miss on setups so not sure. I have the mic disabled.
I did do a really stupid test if my device was listening and used let's say red flag words to see if anyone was listening. Ironically the words I used are related to an event happening in my city which was horrible timing on my part but semi proved to me no one heard it.

Early days.... maybe someone listened and now the search is on! Lol...
Also isnt it the same if I just turn off microphone assess under Settings >Apps> permissions? I just did and hey Google, or voice search etc all now dont respond....

Yes that works. The only thing I don't want is it to disable voice in chrome app which this does.
The settings to disable OK Google are there but don't function and google themselves either don't understand what I am saying or don't want to admit the setting doesn't function as it should.

It's not easy to find the option to turn off the Google assistant, but it's there.
Settings > apps > (three dots menu) default apps > device assistance app
You'll want to change "device assistance app" to "none" and then "voice input" to "Google". The you should be all set.
To go a step further, you can disable the Google assistant from running at all on your device.
Google app > "more" (lower right hand corner) > settings > Google assistant > assistant
Then, at the bottom you should see "assistant devices" with "phone" listed. Select phone and then toggle Google assistant off.
This should do the trick.

I was able to do the first part of device assistant app to none. The voice input option doesn't allow me to pick just google option.
Either way this has solved my issue and is now working they I want it to. Going to try a restart and see if it persists unlike my previous attempt.
Thanks again for finding this.
I like having the search widget and be able to type or voice input my search if I don't know how to spell something. With all the news of companies admitting they listen and record voice stuff having my device always listening is very unsettling. I guess it's a little paranoid but I live in a bad part of my city and I really don't want to be red flag because I walked by a drug deal which happens all to often.
That's strange, because that exactly what it should do when you disable Voice Match, since it is said that's it's actually the "anywhere OK Google listening".
Try deleting your voice imprint on the same setting page too maybe.
I wonder why is working fine on my phone and not on others.

Question Help: Google discover not working!

Hi there,
I have Galaxy S21 ultra for the past 48 hours I've been getting the error "It looks like there was an error signing into your account" whenever I try to use Google Discover in the Google app or by using the far left home screen. Is this happening for anyone else?
I've tried all the normal troubleshooting methods, but unfortunately all not work.
Waiting for any brilliant thoughts?

I did this one but does not work!
Same error on main account, works if I switch to another Google account that is on device.
As a temporary solution, I found this trick can solve this issue
The temporary fix seems to be turning off Web & App search history for your account.
1) From the Discover screen, press your account icon in the upper right corner.
2) Select "Search History" from the menu.
3) Turn off "Web & App Activity". Scroll down and select the "Pause" button to confirm.
4) Return to the Discover screen and refresh. You should see your news items again.
You need to download google news from Playstore.

Hi there Nobrain3000, you are absolutely correct!!!!!!!
I downloaded Google News on my Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, this morning without seeing your post.
Decided to read articles through Google News. (not News & Weather)
Received an email update that lead me to MoMo131's post.
As I opened Google to disable search history, voila, Discover page filled with posts.
Checked and my search history is on.
Did the same on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A, Discover page filled with posts!!!
The answer is definitely, install "Google News" (not News & Weather) through the Play Store.
Thank you Nobrain3000, such an easy resolution.

I already had google news installed and it did not fix the problem. If I change the account to my secondary account it fills the discover feed but I have never used that account it would have relearn what content I want to see.

Hi Smartymcfly,
Your situation is different because the secondary account receives the discover feed. You could go back an forth to check what is different within each of the Google account's settings (I likely would do this and waste the better part of a day). Then I would delete the secondary account on the phone. Uninstall then reinstall Google News (Not News & Weather), ensure discover is on (yes obvious however worth a check), restart the phone, then read a few articles in Google News before opening Google. Then open Google and see if it works.
Please let me know how you make out, I am curious to see what is blocking your Discover feed. That darn feed is addictive. Something I like to do each morning and really upset my day when I could not use it.
Take care,
Toni
