This problem occurred on my previous ROM and assumed it was a bug in that specific ROM but now after I changed to a different ROM the problem still persists. So what actually happens is when I click on power off, it shuts down and after 2-3 seconds, it just restarts. And no the power button isn't broken. Thanks.

My Nexus One is unrooted and on the latest Android 2.2.2 / FRG83G. From time to time, when I try to shut down the phone with power button (long press power button -> pick "power off" from menu), it doesn't actually power down the phone but instead rebooting back to the OS. When this happens, it usually takes 2 more attempts to properly power off the phone with the power button. Is this a software bug or is my power button going to die soon? Wonder if I'm the only one out there with this strange bug.
I've never heard of that happening. There's not a known bug that causes that... Your not rooted? IDK
Just a bug i guess, although not one i've heard before. If it's bothering you a Hard Reset may fix the problem.
I can confirm this bug. Instead of shutting down it does a quick reboot. The following shutdown always worked.
I'm running stock 2.2.2 frg83g, no mods.
I've noticed mine do that a couple of times, when plugging it in during the shutdown cycle.
do you guys experienceing this problem have wifi calling enabled/installed?
I had this problem when I was using Emonother's rom. But after trying out another rom, this problem didn't occur again already.
Hello,
for several months now i am experiencing a strange behaviour of my Diamond when Powering on.
After powering off the Diamond in the evening when i try to start the phone next morning i have to press the Power button for a long time (up to about 30 seconds) until the phone sarts booting the OS. Sometimes it needs several attempts until i get it working.
In the last weeks the time i have to press the button is increasing.
I am afraid that my Diamond will be only a brick in near future.
Hard resetting the phone and flashing different ROM's (AZTOR, RTT) did not solve the Problem.
Has anyone in this Forum experienced the same Problem and is there possibly a solution?

Hi,
When I want to lock my phone, It shuts down. It's like I press the button longer than 2 seconds, even though I don't.
Sometimes the button is unresponsive and nothing happens, for the rest of the time it shuts down.
I'm currently on stock rom N7000XXLRK.
I just found threads where this problem happened on other phones, is there a way to fix it or do I have to send my Note in?
I have tried to boot into bootloader couple times before on stock settings, with nothing flash or modified.
Whenever I tried to restart, it stuck on the black screen with no LED when plugged in, and it won't turn on or boot for about 10-15 min.
I was trying to solve this issue by wiping the entire phone but still happening. Now that I have tried TWRP with ARHD 12.1, the problem still there.
I have also tried fastboot erase cache, doesn't fix this issue either.
Tried to hold Volumn down / Power button for a long time, it still doesn't do anything until 10-15 mins after.
I assume that the device is still in process and somehow is getting stuck somewhere that it doesn't listen to the input anymore until there is signal shutting the whole thing down.
Since I couldn't pull out battery on HTC One, there is no way I can verified if that is the case.
Anyone else facing the same issue?
I am kind of sick and tired of sending back and forth for RMA, which I already did for dead pixels before.

Thanks for the help
I am under sunlight, thought that could have help, but it didn't....
I guess I will try flashlight next time..
but the problem still not solved, I do not want to get under the light every time when I am trying to make a restart on HTC One..
I found a pattern of this issue, it's seems to related to the USB connecting to a computer.
Somehow it won't let my phone shutdown properly and stuck with no screen showing.
Power button + volume won't work for about 10-15 min.
But it can boot back up after that 10-15 min normally. This is a strange issue.
It happened ever since I tried to access bootloader, but I have not change anything.
Hi all,
Recently my HTC One would randomly have a pop-up that said something along the lines of "To reboot, press and hold the power button" along with a countdown and then the phone will reboot itself. This can happen any time, sometimes multiple times within a half hour, even when it is charging.
The last time it happened, it rebooted, got to the blank black screen, and rebooted again. I've plugged it in to charge but it would not stop rebooting. I've unplugged it to let it run out of battery so hopefully it would stop rebooting itself and I can try charging it again. Once it ran out of juice, I charged it and it continued rebooting itself. Pressing the power + volume keys only worked twice but the screen wouldn't stay long enough for me to select fast reboot or factory reset before rebooting itself again. Now pressing power + volume keys doesn't cause any effect on the phone.
I've never tempered with any of the software settings on my phone and it has been sent for repair three times last year. Also, my laptop does not recognise the phone when I plug it to my laptop.
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Normally you get this message when holding the power button. So this message in addition to the rebooting issues makes me believe you have an hardware problem with your power button, maybe its stuck?

I tried pressing on the power button, it seems to be depressing fine. Is there any way I can affirm this?

I think what you explained at post #1 is enough to conclude your power button or something hardware related to it is the problem. I think you'll have to send your device for repair unfortunately unless you want to open the phone yourself to have a look which is not always good idea.
