I recently bought a new Fire HD 10 (Gen 7). After rooting it I started looking for ROMs but I can't seem to find any (AOSP, Lineage OS, etc).
Am I crazy? Is it possible there are no custom ROMs for these devices?

Correct. Partially due to the lack of developer resources but primarily due to the lack of tools to install and maintain a custom ROM on the target device given FlashFire has been discontinued.

theres no development as the 2013 models have locked bootloaders we can't get past like the previous models, primary reason being the device came out after they had patched our exploit in the bootloader so theres no older version to flash that works like previously. CM typically needs a modded kernel to run and as far as i know even with safestrap you have to use the stock signed boot.img.
CM11\10 is actually very stable on the hds

Hello all i just created an acc. because i'm interested in buying a fire 7 directly from amazon, so i think it will come with the newest software update, im not sure. So, i want to root it and install cm 13, can it still be done on 2016 models or should i look into another tablet? Thank you all.

Really? 10 sec of research would have answered the root question; perhaps a couple minutes more for CM 13. No, I will not spoon feed your curiosity as you are obviously literate having composed the original post.

Don't think 2016 models have even been announced yet...

If you receive a model with FireOs 5.3.1.0 then you are screwed.
If you receive a model with FireOs 5.1.2 -> 5.1.4 you can root and put custom ROM (Nexus, CM12.1, etc.). You will not be able to put CM13 as the bootloader of the Fire is locked and thus custom ROMs will be limited to Lollipop 5.1x
If you receive a model with older FireOs then you are even luckier because you may have access to a custom recovery on your fire that would ease installation of custom ROMs.

Did you purchase the tablet? What version did it come with? And where did you buy it from?
Is it possible for those of us on rooted devices we can get Android 7 custom ROM?

Not unless the bootloader get's unlocked. I am not holding my breath on this. If I were to bet, I'd say it won't be available unless you have a 7th generation tablet. At least that's my take.
i hope fire os 6 will be on fire 7thgen

I personally don't like Nougat. There's no official Xposed and even the unofficial ones aren't that good as most modules don't work. My Galaxy S7 is on Marshmallow and my two Amazon tablets and my XT907 are on Lollipop. I'm happy with that. If only KitKat wasn't so old, I'd keep or put everything on that version.
Hi all,
I understand that it is not possible to root Amazon Fire 8 HD 7th Gen running 5.6.2.0.
I assume that also means there is no way to install a custom more native stock android rom on these devices?
Would anyone be able to explain in simple terms what has Amazon done to these devices that makes it so hard to break so we can root and custom ROM them?
Thank you in advance

Good coding and testing practices. Kudos to Amazon and Google for wringing out the 'slop' in Android and its derivatives which opened the door to root (and therefore security) exploits.
Custom rom
Just want to get it confirmed. if you have Amazon Fire 8 HD aor Fire 7, both 7th gen with Amazon's latest upgrade. 5.6.2 i think it is. is there any way to get a custom ROM on? for example [ROM][AOSP][LMY49M] Fire Nexus ROM [02 JUN 2018] ?
Not quite sure i understand correctly if i need to root it before I can custom rom it
Thx

The only Amazon tablet that can be rooted at the moment is the HD 10, 2017.
Hey folks. I hope you guys are doing well.
I want to know that should I install custom rom on my redmi 4x? Will it create problem for my device for long term use? If not, then which custom rom is the most stable out there and fast as well. Literally which one will be the best? I want your help. Thanks!
Since there isn't any good compact budget phones out there and I had to change several apps I use because they're not compatible with the 4x's software anymore, I've been researching about this.
The most recommended ROM is PixelExperience, the main downside about it is that has been discontinued. It works on Android 10 and that's an improvement over the 7.1 we have. Here: https://download.pixelexperience.org/santoni
Another one quite recommended is Lineage OS. This one has not been discontinued as far as I know but works on Android 9. Look: https://lineageosroms.com/santoni/
With all the custom roms, just like official ones, there always will be users that say something is not working properly.
I haven't tried any custom rom, ok? I just googled a lot about the options.
Good luck.

Unfortunately Lineage OS stopped official builds for the Redmi 4X this year, when they stopped the 16 builds (official blog post).

From personal experience, I've used Lineage OS 15 and 16 since I bought this phone over 2 years ago. And it has been working great. It takes a beginner some time to get used to flashing, recoveries, testing new ROMs, etc. but that should not be a big issue. The Linage OS wiki has a very good tutorial on how to set the phone up, it should mostly work with other ROMs too https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/santoni/install
