Yesterday I accidentally broke my Lumia 900 so I picked up a Lumia 920.
My favorite feature was the wallet app and tap to pay. It seems like this option doesn't work yet. Anyone get this to work or is it not out yet? Coming soon???
I have the at&t Lumia 920 and have tried chase debit accounts and paypal accounts. Maybe there's another card that will allow me to use this?

I may be wrong, but I don't think the feature is fully implemented yet. I believe carriers have to provide you with secure SIMs in order for it to function fully. Right now all you can really do at this time is pay for apps.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
That's how it seems to be. Just want to make sure its not because my bank doesn't allow it anything

No where does it say it doesn't work yet. Are you sure its not available?

This is linked to a secure element on the SIM-card which means your provider has to provide that feature. Currently I don't know if any providers support it but there has been talk that Orange in France would be the first to launch with it.
Unfortunately, the carriers need to provide you with a secure sim.
Thank you. I knew there was a difference between NFC and secure NFC but didn't know a secure sim card was needed. Hopefully att rolls this out soon. Don't some androids provide this already?
Also why is secure sim needed. Shouldn't I beable to use the feature without having a sim card or even a wireless contract? Just curious

Secure SIM does not enable NFC Payment
I keep coming across forums with people saying that the provider (ex: AT&T) would need to provide a Secure SIM to enable NFC Payment, but I was in Austin, TX on business (one of the test markets for ISIS) and picked up a secure SIM for my Lumia 920. It did not enable anything.
NFC Payment solutions are quite a big mess actually. Yes, you need a Secure SIM to allow for NFC-payments but I suspect there might be more than one standard for it. Perhaps you should contact your carrier on the state of the matter and report back with what they tell you.
We only know that it won't work without a secure SIM but we don't know what else has to be done to enable it.
I am a first time android dev from India. My app is complete, however I do not own a credit card to pay for the Google Developer's licence. I am currently in college and thus its very unlikely that any bank will issue me a credit card. I do own a Maestro debit card, but it is not accepted by Google Wallet. I want to know if there is any other Indian developer here who went through my situation, and how you finally managed to pay for the developer's licence. Facts only please, no guesses.
You don't need a credit card. A debet card is sufficient. All it must have is a CVV2 number which allows to pay in the internet (for example visa electron).
Also you should look at other options which may be or may not be available in India. In my country for example there a banks that issue "Internet cards". Such a card doesn't exists in reality (no plastic) but you have the card numbers and an account where you can manage it. Then you transfer some funds to this card via a normal wire transfer from you bank acccount. Then you register it to Google Wallet and you can pay for you Google Play account.
You can also try prepaid cards with CVV2 numbers.

Hey guys I have an NFC SIM and was hoping to use this phone as a tap to pay.
I called into my bank and they are saying the only phones that are supported are some samsung phones and the 9900.
Just wondering if there is any provider or way to use this as a tap to pay phone right now. I would much rather use that than bringing my wallet everywhere!
I am Canadian if it makes a difference, thanks a lot!
I don't think Canadian affects tap and pay. This phone has NFC built in and is ready to use for tap and pay. If Google Wallet works in Canada you should be good to go even with a regular, non-NFC sim. In the US, there is a ISIS/SoftCard tap and pay app that requires the NFC sim.
Google Wallet works fine for me (tap and pay) I'm on ATT and it uses my CC
Alright, I will look into google wallet in Canada. I know it's accepted anywhere mastercard is accepted mainly.
I was just bummed that I went through a whole process of getting a NFC sim and my bank told me I can't do it haha.
thanks guys!

As long as the software works with the nexus 6, it should work. I've done tap to pay here in the states with the HTC one m8, OPO, and the z2 (some readers don't like this phone).....
That's what I thought, when she said your phone is not supported I thought how could that be possible? If I have the sim that recognizes NFC it should work out just fine.
I will have to look into google wallet in canada, see if I can get it to work somehow!
maybe i'm misunderstanding, but NFC is built into the phone and has nothing to do with the SIM card, and that may be part of the problem of why it's not working (having 2 NFC chips trying to do the same thing).
just a theory with no evidence to support it.

ISIS/Softcard requires a special SIM card. Here is a photo of the one they sent me.
Hello, I tried the new Note9 with Dual sims + Sd card simultaneously, both sims register and i can see the sd card registering in the notification section, but i get a popup which says Some problem with the sim tray please remove try and reinsert. I cant seem to bypass this. can anyone help ?
You cannot use a combination of two Sims and an SD card. You can use a single sim and an SD card or two sims and no SD card.
A bit of a stupid design but this is how I have known it since the note 8.
Unfortunately this dual sim set up is not available in US (at least when i pre-ordered mine). Would you know if it support CDMA?
For my history use, if I get the 512gb then I dont have to have a SD card. 512gb is enough (too much).
Thanks in advance!

From what I've heard,Samsung has prevented this w/software.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/dual-sim-sd-card-problem-s9-t3830637
It worked in the past, but, sometime this year,Samsung put an end to using all three simultaneously.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77369298&postcount=7
I know exactly what you're talking about, I used two SIM Cards & an SD Card in a Honor View 10.
I used a $10 SIM extender, which fit right next to the SD Card in the 2nd slot.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BFXZCCN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Perhaps there'll be a work-around in the future, but,it's likely gonna be a solution that requires your device to be rooted.
I'm shifting from S7Edge to Note9, really wish there was a work around for this. Anyways for now I'm in 128gb and at the moment I have enough memory. Thanks guys.
It doesn't work for me too.. I was using my sim+sdcard combo on my axon 7 but when I put it in my note 9, it says check sim tray. Hope this gets a workaround.

Thank you for confirming, although it's not the news we wanted to hear, any doubt has now been removed. :good:
security
samsung has done some stuff to prevent this from happening altho if you root you can break the security
It just happened to me as well. I was using both of the sims and SD card with sim extender till my Note 8 and it was working fine but in Note 9 the annoying popup is not going anywhere. Any fix will be helpful to by pass this.
I have the same problem!
Hi friends. I live in Iran & here just note 8 is in the market in its 64gb model. I used 2 sims & sd card simultaneously until it told me there is an update. I did the update, it became Android 9, & brgan giving me the prompt that something's wrong with the tray. I did whatever that I thought might help, but it didn't help. Later ai heard that Android 9 doesn't allow simultaneous 2 sims & an sd card! I hope Samsung changes this. Their phones are becoming worse every day. Glass back which breaks & gets fingerprint marks, low capacity, and every time they ban something on their users! I wish I wasn't in love with Samsung!
Unfortunately Samsung has prevent dual Sim device owners from being able to use both SIMs and a microSDCard at the same time for some strange reason.
Samsung Note 9 in India comes with Dual Sim Dual Standby version & can use 2 - 4G VoLTE SIM cards simultaneously.
I have an Unlocked Samsung Note 9 from SPRINT , USA. This has a Single SIM Slot with a memory card expansion bay. The Exact Model No of the Sprint , USA's Samsung Note 9 is SM-N960U1.
What i want to know is that does this version have e-sim capability ? Does it has a second e-sim modeul & 2nd IMEI built in ?
Anyway to find out , maybe via an app or anything ?
Else, i can stuck with a single sim Note 9 if it does not.
Can anyone help on this... i cant seem to find any details on this specific model.

Go to phone pad, type in *#06#. This will bring up ALL your IMEI info. If you have 2 then it will show both...

Simple & Effective answer. Thanks so much. Its a Single SIM with one IMEI no only.
This means the SPRINT (USA) Samsung Note 9 has single sim with single IMEI so no e-sim support also.
thanks so much.
Hi,
Does anyone know if Android 10 will bring back the ability to have Dual Sim plus uSD card active simultaneously?
I really miss having the extra storage capability in my SM9600.

Very unlikely. Since Samsung has actively blocked it with software, whatever their reason may be, they don't have any real reason to unblock it.

Hi,
It is written in the post. Find services.jar, decompile it with a Java decompiler, make the shown changes, and push it back to where it was with like adb push command or file manager on the phone.
That, or find it in the ROM from Dr. Ketan or install that ROM.
That should give you enough pointers I hope.
Start trying and post if you really get stuck.

So Samsung released stupid colors in the USA. I want to get a black Samsung Galaxy Note 9 SM-N9600 Dual SIM to use on At&t since it is unlocked and a Snapdragon.
Will Samsung pay work in the USA on this model?
If not, is it possible to flash US unlocked firmware to get the Samsung pay feature?
I am not looking to root or unlock the bootloader, just want a full feature version in a non stupid/black color.
Same situation, waiting for anyone to help??
Did you figure it out?
I can help here... First off you are better off getting the dual SIM model N960F/DS. That model more closely resembles the US model (I have the Note 8 N950F/DS) and it works fine in the US. It has Samsung Pay BUT you need to find a version where Samsung Pay exists in the country it was designed for and where your credit cards work on Samsung pay IN THAT COUNTRY. For example I have a UAE model where they have Samsung Pay. It works fine for my Citi card, but not my amex card that worked on my ATT model.
The model above is available in black. Find it on eBay. They are generally cheaper than the US versions.
I have had no issues whatsoever using this version in the US .
I'm waiting for my n960f/DS to arrive. In blue!!
Using n9600 here on vzw. Working fine. No volte yet, but I will flash pr fw, and have working volte.
Samsung pay will work on the international dual Sim model.
rooting will make it not work.

SM-N9600 Chinese Version?
I live in Toronto, Canada and I recently bought a Note 9 off someone in a private sale. It's the SM-N9600 model. I noticed that it has a lot of Chinese writing on the software during initial setup, and was different than the setup I'm used to (it didn't take me through Google account setup and also had a bunch of weird Chinese app stuff for something called Baidu, etc). In fact, it didn't even have the Play Store! I had to side load the Play Store APK then download all my apps and set my phone up that way. The Samsung Members app is still all in Chinese. Is this normal? And is there a way that I can reset the device or flash a Firmware (even if it's a factory reset where I lose my data and have to set up again) to have normal operation (i.e. Google being part of the initial setup from the beginning without having to side-load anything and to get rid of all the Chinese apps)? Any help would be extremely appreciated!

I wondered about that but literally everything else works and functions exactly as it should. The s pen works perfectly and with the apps that it should work with, I've downloaded the Galaxy theme store and use the Pixelized theme, I've logged in to my Samsung account, etc. Even bixby works like normal! Though I'm not sure I'm so happy about that one lol. Any suggestions that you could provide? ATM it's functioning fine and I've gone through a few workarounds to get it working like I need it to, but this is extremely frustrating. Also, when I go to settings, general management, contact us, it's Chinese options. Also in connections, data usage, more settings, service provider settings, "region"has only Chinese sities and
"Service provider" has China mobile and a few others (though I'm using it fine with Bell)

Would taking it into a Samsung store help? Do you think they'd flash a legit Firmware on there, and if so would they charge to do so?
First of all if you don't have the receipt they won't take your phone.
Second: do you have the phone box? I have an hard time believing it's an original Note 9, I don't know how much a clone can be similar but: samsung themes should have been already installed, translations are full in all the settings, doesn't matter which firmware it has.
Also the lack of play store and the fact that you weren't ask to register your device at first boot is really really really strange. In the best case you have a weird firmware, which already is sign of a potential scam and anything could be loaded on that phone. Ih the worst scenario that is not a Note 9. Unfortunately, i would go with the latter considering what you wrote.
