Hi there,
is the windows responsive when he plugs in his diamond (usb notice in the lower right corner) or any other usb device? Maybe try diffrent usb ports...

Check if the device is recognized as an external drive - there's an option in the settings where this can be changed. (Connection Settings / USB to PC) You can either connect as external drive or by ActicveSync with some devices.
Also, quality of the USB cable can make a difference.
I've also found that connecting through a USB hub never works reliably; plug it directly into the computer.
If none of these work, the USB controller of the computer might be kaputt. Do other USB devices work in the same port?
Does the Touch sync on other PCs with ActiveSync?
well, I was wondering, if it is possible to turn this phone in a dhcp server for a LAN using an usb to lan adapter.
I have bough a cheap adapter and it comes with a driver for android, so if someone knows how, or can point me to a manual or similar I would be grateful.
also just in case, I tried connect the adapter to the phone but it isn't detected. (expected result).
going to add the files listed in the folder of driver for android of the adapter is a CH9200 USB Ethernet Adapter driver
thanks for reading.
Just curious how it ended up with the usb lan adapter.
Any update on this ?
I bought the Tronsmart Data Cables USB-C to USB-A knowing the cable that came with the box was only a charging cable. But still my computer won't recognize my Mi 5 64Gb. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.
P.S. I have also installed the MI PC Suite. Still failing.

MiSuite is useless for now, as this thing doesn't support Android 6.
Just connect the phone with a cable to the Computer. I use the Xiaomi Mi4c cable, the original mi 5 is still in the box but both work to transfer data!
All you have to do is:
-Connect the phone to the pc with Usb C to A
-Change the connection mode from "Use USB for Charging only" to "Use USB for Transfer files (MTP)"
Uh and could you please explain the difference between a USB C to USB A charging cable and a USB C to USB A data-transfer cable? The more details you add the better. I am specially curious about the wires inside of the cable, like the difference between a charging and data cable, by the means of wire connection. (I have never heard of such a thing.)
I have tried doing that but it seems Windows is not installing the drivers for Mi 5 thus getting a "device could not be recognized.
Working great now. Had to change USB ports and used the ones at the rear of my desktop. Thanks!

mine has the same problem with you..
when connected Mi 5 to PC, Mi 5 is not displaying "Charging Only" or "MTP" Option. My PC (Win 7) says "Device is not Recognized".
I've tried uninstalling Mi PC Suite and another ADB program, and changing usb port, the problem is stills..
How do you fix it?
I had the same problem. But changing to a different USB-port on my computer solved it. Check if you have any native USB3 ports on your mobo.
I had the same issue on my Win8 computer (usb2 plugs only) . But it connected perfect on my wife's win7 computer (usb3 plugs)
I finished getting it connected by validating USB debug and waiting very long for driver installation.
USB3 versus USB2 , why not.
Its Not USB2 vs USB3 as I am getting it connected on my Laptop with only USB2 ports but Can't connect on my PC with USB2/USB3 ports while my S7 connects perfectly. I dunno why this is happening and still seeking solution. PTP mode and USB tethering mode works fine though. Just MTP mode connection gets the Yellow triangle and device listing under other devices in my windows device manager.
Install the software driver of the pc and connect as mtp
Dont work anything
I change it to MTP but it comes back by itself to charging mode wtf
Go to device manager after connecting usb to phone
In portable devices, you will find your device along with a caution sign
Double click on your device
Go to driver tab
Then click on update driver
Then click on "Browse my computer..."
Then click on "Let me pick..."
Select MTP USB Device
Install this driver and then your phone will be detected by your computer
(1) Go to C:\Windows\INF
(2) Type "wpdmtp.inf" in search bar provided to the right of the address bar in Windows 10.
(3) Once you found it, just right click on it and select install. It will take a very few seconds.
(4) Connect your device to the pc.

Hi,
Has anyone managed to get an Ethernet adapter to work with the 7 Plus?
I've had a search around and can't find anything.
Thanks
Verrier Roberts
Using Plugable USB-C ethernet adapter, worked first time, pluggable website suggested it would not.
Hope that helps,

Yes, I've done it. Bought a USB-C to USB-A OTA adapter and then plugged a USB-Ethernet adapter into that, and I got an Ethernet connection from that.
I tried connecting a USB-C to Ethernet adapter, but it didn't work for me. There was no sign (like you get for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth) displayed for Ethernet.
Also tried connecting that adapter to Pixel 2, and it started behaving erratically. A few notifications came in, but then it stopped working.
i got problem with device manager, when i connect my phone to my pc
my phone only charging...did not show up "USE AS ,MTP.FILE TRANSFER" thing like that
try to update with xiaomi usb driver, but no luck lol
There should be a USB notification on the phone that you can click to select file transfer.
Try a different cable or usb port and see will it work
I have same problem. Phone is Mi 9 and when I plug into USB 2 port it is charging and file transferring but when I connect to USB 3 port just charging, no file transfer. It does not ask what to do (USB options). It makes sound when connected to USB 3 port, charging but neither asking for USB options nor seen on my computer. I tried 3 different type-c cable but result is same. When trying to update driver it says it is already the most updated one.
