Exy can be unlocked, rooted. Tmo can't. Also exy has issues with carrier agragation.

No.
Well you can root your phone and flash the us tmobile csc through twrp (as long as a dev made a csc zip file that contains the csc.) To get tmobile features (volte, wifi calling).
But you permanently lose Samsung Knox, Samsung pay and secure folder with root. Win some and you lose some!
But you can't (Can NOT) flash a snapdragon firmware on an exynos soc or vice versa. You'll get a very expensive paperweight! (Well if your lucky Odin won't install it.)
So, wifi calling only works on tmobile phones, not exy?
And it is worth mentioning that the Exynos variant does not have full support for the US LTE Bands that the T-Mo and US Unlocked models have either.

Wifi calling works on any phone that has the proper CSC for your carrier/region. Doesn't matter on snapdragon or exynos soc.
The thing is No exynos (international note 9) will have any US csc in its firmwares only the phones that are sold by US carriers and Samsung USA. (Which are only snapdragon versions of the note 9).
Only way to get it with exynos phones is through root and flashing your carrier csc. (Not the firmware but a dedicated csc zip file by a developer).

I checked all of the bands before I bought a Korean Note 9 and every band that seemed to matter appeared to be supported. I think only a single band wasn't there. My signal strength and speeds match my wife's Note 8, inside and outside of buildings.
I definitely have no concerns with band support on mine.
SM-N960N Supported Cellular Bands:
GSM850 , GSM900 , GSM1800 , GSM1900 , UMTS2100 (B1) , UMTS1900 (B2) , UMTS1700/2100 (B4) , UMTS850 (B5) , UMTS900 (B8) , TD-SCDMA2000 , TD-SCDMA1900 , LTE2100 (B1) , LTE1900 (B2) , LTE1800 (B3) , LTE1700/2100 (B4) , LTE850 (B5) , LTE2600 (B7) , LTE900 (B8) , LTE700 (B12) , LTE700 (B13) , LTE700 (B17) , LTE800 (B18) , LTE800 (B19) , LTE800 (B20) , LTE1900 (B25) , LTE850 (B26) , LTE700 (B28) , LTE1500 (B32) , TD-LTE2600 (B38) , TD-LTE1900 (B39) , TD-LTE2300 (B40) , TD-LTE2500 (B41) , TD-LTE5900 (B46) , LTE1700/2100 (B66)
T-Mobile uses the following bands:
Frequencies:
Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 5 (850 MHz), Band 12 (700 MHz), Band 66 (Extension of band 4 on 1700/2100 MHz), Band 71 (600 MHz)
Just 71 was missing, but you still have band 12 for extended coverage.

I suppose it remains to be seen if support for Band 71 will become widely desirable before the Note 9 is supplanted by the next generation device, but I suspect it will and I definitely know I want it available on mine. 600Mhz was just lit up in the county to the north of me, and I do not expect it to take very long for it to become a very big deal.
Further, the ability to root and run a custom rom, etc. Just isn't as important to me as it once was. In fact, the loss of Samsung Pay (especially the extension of it to my Gear 3 Frontier) would be a very big deal to me. About all I miss from the ability to root is running an effective ad-blocker, and when I am on wifi (which is about 85% of the time) I have a pi-hole blocker for that.
So, not to be argumentative, but I am quite pleased with my unlocked Note 9 that has full band/carrier support for all of the US carriers, given this is my home country. If I was an international traveller, perhaps I would feel differently. But, as amazed as I am to say it, Samsung finally got it right with the unlocked Note 9 for the US Market. I just can't see a real desire to go after the Exynos variant, especially if you are a US resident. Perhaps that is why Samsung offers what they do in the respective regions.

Yeah, I can say that I definitely agree that the imported Exynos models aren't going to be the best choice for this market for most. I SERIOUSLY miss Samsung Pay and have to use Google Pay now, which sucks without MST.
I chose the phone because I really wanted the copper color and unlocking it seemed like a good bonus. I'm keeping it, but to use Samsung Pay, I'm using my Gear S3 Frontier linked to another Sammy phone. I REALLY hate the region locking crap....
Band 71 probably won't be relevant for about another year for most people. Still waiting for entities to stop broadcasting it and TMobile appears to be shooting for areas where they lack reception and rural areas. Some major markets are getting it but when.

Why would you want to flash a t-mobile rom on an unlocked phone , as the carrier based roms are full of bloatware which does slow down your phone and also delays system updates as well.

Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F:
LTE: 800, 850, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600
I guess it depends on which country you're in to determine what band applies. Those are the associated frequencies though.

The international Samsung phones have yet to support america's LTE bands. I was really hoping that the Octa version would finally have worldwide LTE, but it turns out neither of the international S5 versions support LTE 4 or 17 (used on AT&T/TMo)
More than likely AT&T's way of forcing people to buy their version instead. This way people can't root, flash roms, or tether w/o a plan.
US variants and the I model ( Aussie model ) are the only ones that are LTE supported and are now pretty much all bootloader locked. Also all international models all come factory/carrier/bootloader unlocked too. Ive just moved here not long ago and dont really care for LTE so got my last 2 phones outside the country. I didnt realize about the bootloader lock until I got my S5 from ATT so Im hoping someone comes up with a method to unlock it.

Octa Version (G900H) doesn't have 4G LTE, only 3G. I have one of that here in Brazil.
canadian version
Looks like the Canadian version SM-G900W8 supports 8 LTE bands - which is all exept for the 800mhz (very common in Europe).
just google SM-G900WZKABMC-techspecs (cant post links)
Does your phone have to support every band a carrier uses for lte for you to be able to use lte on that network?
My s5 supports 5 of the 7 lte bands that att uses. Will I not be able to use lte at all with my phone?

AT&T operates LTE in band 2 (1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 17(700).
The T-Mobile bootloader is NOT locked and supports all the bands of AT&T and more. Plus, 900F roms work well on it if you keep the TMO modem.
So is it just a matter of changing the modems to get lte working on AT&T and T-Mobile with the 900F?
I just put a straight talk SIM (AT&T network) in my phone and I am reporting lte on my phone and getting download speeds of 15mbps +.

No. I don't think that the 900F has all the AT&T and TMO bands so it would be hit and miss at best.
And you want the modem designed for the device because it will utilize whatever bands that device is capable of using.
If you are close to a cell tower, 4g can do 15. I'm close to a cell tower here at work and my LTE can get 58 down.

Does that mean you can just stick an AT&T sim card into a T-Mobile S5 and have all the same capabilities as the AT&T S5, and more (like an unlocked bootloader)?

Almost. When you receive the G900T it will be locked to the T-Mobile network (unless you specifically buy one that is unlocked) so you do have to get it SIM Unlocked first. This allows you to use it on any GSM network. I paid 20 bucks online because no one has figured out how to unlock it for free yet.
After that I installed Omega rom but kept the latest TMO modem. It works perfectly. I got 58 down on LTE at work the other day.
Any idea how to get it to connect to the 4G/LTE network with SM-G900F

Folks,
I have looked for this answer everywhere and do not seem to find an answer for it: Which version of the Note 4 Exynos works with T-Mobile LTE?
From a post I read, seems that the SM-N910C sold in Qatar works, but I am not sure.
Any help is greatly appreciated !
Cheers,
G
Interesting...unless the Qatar version supports 1700MHz band....I'm don't think you'll fully be able to utilize the TM network.
This makes me curious now...
This is what I found, from XDA:

Short answer, The N910C and N910U has Band 4 LTE. Neither has band 12 (700MHz Block A)
Also, when on call or in a low-signal area, hold the phone with your left hand. The diversity receiver (2nd antenna) is right beneath the power button.

Yup, thanks a lot ! I was getting to that conclusion... T-Mobile uses Band 4 (AWS 1700/2100 MHz), which you are right only the N910C and N910U have. And also true, as with other international phones like the Sony Z3 and others, the biggest regret will be Band 12. However, for what I have read, the regret there of not having Band 12 is WiFi calling and some better reception indoor like in buildings and such.
Cheers,
G.
LTE Band 12 has nothing to do with WiFi calling. WiFi calling, in terms of hardware, simply requires WiFi, which all N910 models have (2.4 and 5.xGHz). The rest is carrier support (which T-Mobile has) and software on the phone (which if it isn't on by default can be added via root).
LTE Band 12 doesn't matter much outside of California, Florida, Texas, New England, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Atlanta, Minneapolis and Indianapolis. Leap (Cricket) Wireless owns most of the 700MHz Block A spectrum in America. Check out this map and see where you live vs what your carrier holds.

I looked at that map but did not quite understood the results. So, can you please educate me on what really I might miss should I go missing the Band 12 for someone living on those areas you have mentioned above?
I am tired of waiting on the T-Mobile Note 4 availability and the N910U seems to be available on eBay, plus it has the Exynos.
Cheers,
What's so special about the Exynos processor over the 805? The 805 in my Note4 is a beast.
Edit: http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-4-exynos-5433-vs-snapdragon-805-395820/
The Exynos is faster. Got it.

How do you add wi-fi calling via root? My understanding is that no one has managed to extract wi-fi related software pieces from T-Mobile ROMs and successfully port anywhere. That's why I'm always stuck with TW ROMs.
Just get the sm-n910t. Why do you want Exynos version? Many app wont take advantage of that cpu.
Yup, I did. Was trying to find alternatives since the Tmobile version seems so scarce and difficult to get...but, finally got one. Cheerrs. G.
N910C VoLTE and international dialer questions.
For anyone that has the N910C running on T-Mobile, is VoLTE actived for you? When you make a call, does it stay on LTE or does it drop to 4G (HSPA) and then go back to LTE after you hang up.
Also, does the dialer include the video chat icon on the bottom left and is there a way to remove it since (I'm guessing) it doesn't work.
I have a n910c and I'm on tmobile when I call it drops down to 4g then goes back to lte.

Does HSPA (aws) 3G/4G (H+) work on your 910c on tmobile?
Also are you able to make calls & use data at the same time?
Edit: nevermind just read above post. Please disregard
Can anyone confirm for sure if they're able to surf the web or do any data related activity while on a call with their sm-n910c? I have ZERO data connectivity while on a call and as soon as the call hangs up, I instantly have my data back. Any help or confirmation is appreciated.
Hi Guys
I'm from Macedonia,Europe and I have a chance to buy tomorrow cheaper NOTE4 from T-MOBILE or VERIZON.Since VERIZON uses CDMA frequencies, can you help me by clearing things up:
Is T-Mobiles NOTE 4 compatible with my carriers frequencies here in Europe? I think that it is GSM and that the voice calls will not be problem, but is 4G/LTE compatible here?
My carrier is ONE and they told me that their 4G/ LTE uses 1800MHZ (bend 3 I think) and 800MHZ(bend 20).
-------------------------------------
Here is TMOBILE'S NOTE 4 specs from their website:
International
Quad Band GSM; LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17; UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100), Band V (850)
--------------------------------------------------
This is from VERIZONS NOTE 4:
Network: LTE Band 13/4 (700/1700 MHz), CDMA/1xEVDO Rev. A (800/1900 MHz); Global Network: EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900), HSPA/UMTS(850/900/1900/2100)
-------------------------------------------------------
Please help me and tell me if any of the models is compatible with my carrier in Europe, because it is urgent!!!
Thank you in advance

Let's help to everyone. Can someone confirm or help find which version of n920* will be fully compatible with Uk 4G networks. As we know should be 3, 7 and 20 band which are 800, 1800, and 2600 mhz. I know networks are different and use some frequencies. For example I'm with EE which use all of them for 4G. I tried to find myself and only n920T looks good . Any ideas
My understanding it will be A version N920A
This is useful in also considering buying this phone also where is the best place to buy from without being charged customs etc.
Thanks
I like to buy the note 5 and was wondering if anyone knows whats the best model to buy for it to work on THREE UK and to get 4G

I'd also like to know which model is best suited to use in the UK.
The three network in particular.
n920c missing band 7 and 20 so will not work proper on 4G in UK.
As for now it looks only N920A is good for uk 4G networks as it have all 3 bands 800, 1800 and 2600 mhz . Cheapest unlocked from ebay shipping from US is bout £570

Hi
Found a note 5 on Ebay N920i
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE 2100 (B1), 700 (B17), 850 (B5), 1700/2100 (B4), 1800 (B3), 2600 (B7), 1900 (B2), 900 (B8), 700 (B12), 800 (B26), 800 (B19), 700 (B28)

I'm contract free so can go sim only on any network.......
Is there anything else I need to consider before buying? From what I understand it's the bands that will determine if it will work or not
Let me know our thoughts
Cheers

I've just imported a N920i to the UK, based on the research I did before hand only go for this model if you want to used 4G on EE, the other networks work on other bands.
The N920a will work on more of the UK networks (although i'm not sure whether it will be branded up as AT&T).
The N920i imported came with a UK charger as I believe it was from Hong Kong which I believe have the same power sockets as us in the UK.
Mine set me back £464 and then an additional £30 for import VAT.
Mrlynch
Thanks for the reply,
I take it that the phone works well, are you getting good 4g speeds?
And just confirm is it just the 4g bands you took into account before buying it. Is there anything else that will determine is the phone will work in the uk?
Can you tell me where you got your phone from. If you can't post a link to the site here would you mind sending me a PM
Cheers
Paul
I too have a n920i and it works fine on three the only netwroks it wont work is o2 and voda
Being honest I haven't tested the 4g yet as I'm on an old 3g unlimited data plan for £10 a month so it hasn't been worth upgrading to 4g. Plus I work from home so I'm on 100mb wifi all day. So far 3g has been spot on and so has 2g.
I got mine from ebay, I'll pm you a link shortly.
Do we know why the n920i won't work on the other networks. .......it has the LTE bands that voda and O2 use so on paper it should work, I think? ????

My N920C has band 20 and 3, and i guess it will have band 7 as well (though i can't test it). So this model should not really have problems working in Europe.

Thanks for your feedback regarding B20 band; I'm in Italy and here same problem with LTE bands (I'm on Vodafone that works on B3/B7/B20) now looking around I've found a N920C dual sim model (available on arab markets) called N920CD I hope someone can help us to confirm if this model works on B20 LTE too....
Which dual sim model will work in the UK with Three?
Just ordered a Samsung SM-N920S Galaxy Note 5. I know someone who ordered a phone from the same region and uses it in the UK...
Giffgaff and EE sims on standby for testing
Will let you know if all is working......
Dears,
mine is arrived!!! I got it in China, it's the 6GB version with 128GB of storage... here's a few of pictures from it.
Nice! Kinda sucks they didn't release a 6GB version in the US. What mode do you find yourself using the most?
For me, web browsing with the dual screen in extended portrait mode is what I use the most.
I'm currently importing this phone to my country, I hope it arrive it in a few days. Very excited!
The biggest disappointment for me looking at this phone is the 4gb of RAM. ZTE did the same thing with the Axon 7 where the china version had more RAM, and that was the only disappointment I've had with that phone. Hope you enjoy it though!

KPN in the Netherlands. Full 2G/3G coverage. Only missing 800Mhz 4G but 1800Mhz and 2600Mhz is supported.
Same coverage as with my current phone, the Mi Mix
EDIT: Buying the China version by the way
Just got a major update to 1.3.

I think the disappointment over the 4GB is more your spec-head response. I think you'd be happy with the phone. The stutters that I experience are due to unpolished software, not hardware IMO. 6GB would've been nice though.

Hardware limitations for sure, sorry.
Does anyone know if this Wark on tmobile 4g or late in US anox m. China ver
After having used this device for a few days, I got my old phone back.
The hardware is quite good on most aspects but the software is seriously lacking.
The most annoying bugs I had were:
- WiFi Sharing not working
- Video camera shutter sound can't be turned off (and is really loud!!!)
- Bad English translations
- Too aggressive power saving, delaying notifications by a lot.
- The vibrator in this phone is insane, it feels bad. Makes lot of noise and it just bothers me every time you hear it
- I feel like everything on the screen is really big and feel like the scaling settings should be different. Just lowering the font size makes it a bit better but still not good.
I hope to return to this phone when the software is actually finished
Hi everybody,
I live in switzerland and I'm considering to buy the chinese version(6Gb/128Gb) of the Axon M because I'm tired of waiting and a few days ago the first rumours about the price for europe appeared. It will be around 850€ for the usual 4Gb version which is way to much in my opinion.
Anyways, I've checked the main obstacles which can appear, if I use the chinese version in switzerland/europe.
1. LTE Network: My provider uses B3 most of the time. So this should be no problem.
2. Google playstore: Not preinstalled but can be installed manually without problems I guess?
3.Language: Is german available in stock version? If not, is it possible to add system languages manually? If not, English is alright.
Did I miss something? Any other complaints from european users with the chinese Axon M?
greetings from switzerland
Does the China version support the same bands as the US version?

So yeah... don't get the CN version to use in the US.
I mean, it might kinda work in some areas, but it's missing a lot of bands.
To import the Axon M into the EU is not a good idea:
Missing B7 and B20, no international firmware, no support, no play store. And that old any anoying hardware build .... What a cheap ass, i'll stick with my 2DS

I guess exactly the opposite: mine got the rev1.7 yesterday with March 5th security patches instead of rev1.4 Officially available over at EU. Play Store and any Google service works like a charm. Hardware isn't 835 or 845 but the ZTE's launcher is very light.
Just curious, is it a dual sim model?

Mine arrived yesterday and I'm very happy. Very smooth and the second display is great.
The only thing I'm concerned about are the speakers.
There are two speakers at the bottom but you can hear something only from the left one.
Is this normal. Could you check this on your device please!?
