Hi all, I'm thinking of upgrading to a note 9, my question is are all note 9 dual sim? does the hardware support it. My retailer said that the note 9 in their store does not support dual sim. I'm wondering if the hardware supports it will a custom rom enable dual sim functionality?
Thanks

With the exynos version probably. The note 8 exynos single sim version could be converted I think to dual SIM . But it requires an additional imei for that . Which last I checked wasn't possible or done on these forums.

If purchased from Samsung direct then it should be dual sim.
Ok thanks for clearing this up.

The second IMEI might be the stumbling block. It is possible the Exynos model supports the 2nd Sim. You just need to change the Sim tray and somehow get the second IMEI.

If we have another IMEI from another spare phone, is there a way to add that into the single sim phone? Thanks.

The unlocked Snapdragon variant I had was NOT dual sim capable.
The Exynos 512GB version I currently have is dual sim and has two IEMIs.
I suppose it could be possible to use dual sim cards on a single IEMI device however you could not have both radios active at the same time.

Because the dual sim unlocked version of note 8 is not supporting volte from EE in Uk, I would like to know if it's possible to flash the EE firmware, single sim, on the dual sim phone...
Dont know about that but I flashed about a half dozen firmwares on my Singapore FD trying to see if I could get the oem unlock slider and all of them had dual sim enabled settings. A couple of them I actually checked for connectivity. My guess is you're going to be fine and you can always flash back the stock software anyways so it isn't a potential black hole.

Do you still get OTA updates as if your phone now is single sim? Did the dual sim cards manager disappear in settings , messages and phone calls ?

Sell it and buy a dual SIM
Samsung s9 note SM-N960N ? Dual sim.
I bought 1 in HK. It has the Korean KT logo at start up. Literature says dual sim. But phone has a different sim tray where it is not possible to fit a second sim in sd slot.
I have tried getting info from Samsung, but I might just as well have tried booking a trip to the moon.
So anyone know about this or where to buy the right sim tray and experiment with second sim card
Thanks

Have you tried turning the SIM 90 degrees to fit in the MicroSD card slot in the tray?
Thanks for suggestion

If you look at pictures of a tray with 2 sim cards, they both have the same orientation so contacts on board should be in this position.
Also rotating 90 degrees does not provide a proper seat for the sim card

Hi guys. has anyone tried a dual sim card tray in the single sim version of the Note 9?
In my single sim huawei mate 9, i flashed to europe firmware and bought a dual sim card tray and now its a proper dual sim phone. as i havent loaded the dual sim firmware i cannot set which is my primary sim unless i stick the primary sim into the main tray place. But it works..
There are some videos on the youtube. I don't know is these are fraud or not. Who has the knowledge about the mainboard differences ?
Since i can not post any links due to new member thing, there is the video ids.

Yes, and Dr.Ketan's rom is one of them which supports N960N, N960F, N960FD/S. I have N960N which was single sim on stock android 10, then i flashed the rom and i got 2 imei and dual sim capability .
I have a friend of mine that is currently a Note 8 user with AT&T. He has a work phone and personal phone, both with AT&T. He was thinking about switching to the iphone to get a multi sim compatible device. I told him to hold off until I was able to ask the experts. Does he have any Multi Sim options with AT&T and the Note 9? Is he going to be stuck with Apple if he wants a carrier specific device?
1st of all iPhone don't support the use of more than one SIM. I would suggest that your friend get the 512GB Dual Sim variant of the Note 9 or the 256GB Dual Sim Variant of the Note 8. If he wants to have a dual SIM device.
I am thinking of buying a sim card extender, but it requires a hybrid sim. Does anyone know if the Korean variant supports this?

Ahh thanks for the info., but alas I need my Spay, since I use it often here in Korea. If I ever root my phone I will definitely use your guide
No, the N960N does not have a hybird dual SIM system.

It is supposed to be an Exynos and they usually are Dual sim. However, I have encountered Korean exynos phones with only one sim card. Thus, you need to provide more information so we can give you a more definitive answer...

I doubt it bud... Even if the hardware would support it by having the sim tray capability, the software would have to be specifically adjusted for the situation. And seeing how small the alternative development is for the s21 Ultra, I doubt it will get to the point of significant progress..
Some time ago I had gotten a Note 9 from a friend, and since I had an S9+, I thought the note 9 would be a nice upgrade. Only to realize that since it is a Korean Note 9, it only supported 1 SIM. I seeked the internet quite a bit and found nothing relevant. I also asked around the forums but to no avail. Gave the Note to the wife, it replaced her 1 sim S7, so everyone is happy hahaha
If you do find a solution eventually, do remember to write it here, it may surely help others with the same issue as you.
Good luck!
The first step is to check if physically there are 2 sets of contractors to read 2 sim cards but that means to open the phone. Software shouldn't be an issue it handles 2 physical sim in other variants
I bought a dual-sim tray for my S21 Ultra US version - I can confirm that at least the tray fits It wouldn't read my SafariCom sim though :-/
Not sure what model the Australian S21 are but if it ends with the letter B(G998B) then you can try switching the CSC to XTC and try again.
While there's only 1 sim card originally it should still have 2 IMEI numbers because of the e-SIM so logically switching CSCs should work.

SM-G998B is a Single Physical SIM variant with e-Sim. The SM-G998B/DS has Dual Physical SIM's so based on what you've shared the answer is no.
Does the Australian version have any differences?
I believe only the Chinese variant supports two physical dual sims.

Indeed. For some reason I thought he wanted a physical dual sim snapdragon variant.
