Samsung cloud 15gb free plan. - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Not sure I fully understand this, while reviewing my Samsung cloud storage ,it shows I've used less than 1gb yet the old backups shown in the attached screenshot are all averaging over 2gb. So to my calculations I should have just a bit over 10gb free. If that's the case where is Samsung storing my unaccounted data ? View attachment 4590402

Maybe it is using some kind of compression method, a good one too, as I've also noticed that my 2.2Gb backup shows as 547Mb

And also, Samsung does NOT backup Third party apps &datas.

I got a question on that..it's to do with the backup.
I been getting annoying notifications like at 1-2am..
The phone is trying to back up but is getting a back up error..as in not enough storage..
Now that is plain wrong as I have turned off backup for almost everything apart from calander and settings..
Just went into it to check.. and did a backup.. seems a manual push works fine but the auto is being painful..kinda like it wants all my data..but why would I when I load all my contacts to Google ..
Anyone else seen this happen?

I was just checking the Samsung cloud settings . It mentions something about Memos/voice being synced or backed up. Yet there is no option for me to turn Memo function backup on? It's for voice recording.
I was hoping to be able to sync my old note 3 and note 4 etc voice memos to my current note 9 from the Samsung cloud. Is voice memos the same as the current Samsung voice recorder app found on the play store?

I think you need to look into the Samsung cloud settings/backup.. and you will see voice recordings back up.. I get the feeling this is tied back to the voice memos..

Backing up voice recording isn't an issue. For me it's about synching the previous voice recordings or voice memo that they are calling it now. I cannot see a voice memo for synching. I even connected my note 9 to my PC and ran smartswitch and browsed many old backups from there and couldn't find Voice memo or voice recording to recover let alone synch.View attachment 4592381

something like google map where we plan on the phone where to go and on the watch will show the indication (useful walking ok biking)
I just want to be able to read my texts. It's ridiculous that they didn't add that feature. If I can read my emails when they pop up. I should be able to read my text.

Apps or updates that I would like to have soon:
1. Calculator with a quick tip calculation and unit conversion functions
2. Compass
3. Gmail and Facebook notifications with more message content, as they do with Kakao Talk, Line, and ChatOn.
4. Direct photo share options to Facebook
5. On-screen keyboard (preferably Swype-based)
6. Quick message templates for SMS response (and the ability to create your own on the phone)
7. Sound Off option on Camera setting
8. Double-tap to turn on the watch
9. Coin Fllip app
7. Skype/Google Voice calling apps
8. Headline news flash app

2. Front facing camera for Skype video call.
Useful apps I like already available:
1. Watch Styler- allows you to create your own clock face design

3. Kakao Talk notfications
4. Spin the bottle and Dice apps

You basically read my mind! I would like to see most of the things you mentioned added SOON. Particularly the ability to have some quick reply SMS responses. SVoice is useless when I'm in meetings or other quiet settings. I previously used a Pebble watch and this is the one thing that I miss the most.

I would add a wechat application,I'm in asia and 80 % of the people here use it.
Guys what if we go on the google play and put one start to the application we want implemented on the gear and write missing support with galaxy Gear?
It would be GREAAAT to have more apps in time.
But to be honest I count more on people on XDA than on developers......
- Facebook to see messages or small wall view
- WhatsApp !! I am using it a lot of it and my friends too
- Some kind of keyboard that we could write something
- Some app that You could chose notifications for all apps on phone which You want to see on watch
The more we gonna use watch the more apps we gonna need probably with time...
These are to one are very important for me at the moment

5. I like most of your list. I've seen some video of Fleksy on the Omate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkXW2-uGezs), so we know it's possible, in theory. I don't know how much I'd use it, but would show it off if noting else!
6. OTOH, I would use quick message replies daily. Very surprised this wasn't already implemented.
7. It's my understanding that this was intentionally left with no option over security reasons. I presume a dev could over-ride it, but I doubt Samsung ever will give us the option.
8. I'm ok with the motion activation, but my 6 year old misses tapping my watch like in my older Sony watch
8b. Do you mean to read News regularly, or some sort of News alerts?
Need to look up whatever CamDictionary is - never heard of it. Agree on the Styler - but as most Android people, I love changing themes every month or so!

The answer to everyone wants is to get root and apply play store access the gear has 512 ram and 4gb of memory we have more than enough specs to run android 4.3 with play store access. Hopefully someone can pull the playstore off the omate watch when it ships in two weeks which will have playstore access. If anyone is wondering about the limitation of small spec playstore access android, 4.4 kit kat takes off the size provision of android. Allowing any device with a 1 inch or larger with a minimum resolution of 240 x 240. Someone smarter than me please get on this. Dont ask how i know this i just do.
Just noticed the app miniSquare has been added to the Gear marketplace. Looks to be a check-in application using Foursquare check-in authorization. Here's marketplace description.
miniSquare is only for the Galaxy Gear app that is used by Smart Watch's Foursquare. more easy and speedy to check in at yoour place where you are by using Galaxy Gear. (First, you should download Foursquare app before you use this app)

After reading the description, I wasn't too surprised to run the app and only see Chinese text. I'm getting a refresh prompt as well, so it doesn't look to be working for myself.
Nonetheless, I was hoping for a good Foursquare app. Hopefully this one gets sorted out.

I imagine the best thing about owning a gear is keeping your phone in your pocket on silent and only bringing it out when you want to reply. Also, answering phone calls while driving and music control when your phone is docked to the speakers.
I've played around with my friend's pebble and its annoying that notifications aren't synced with your phone. You have to view them once on your watch and them dismiss them again on your phone.

there is no difference with the gear. You have to dismiss notifications on the gear (which can be a bit annoying as you have to go through each app's notifications and dismiss), and they won't be dismissed on the phone, you have to dismiss it on the phone as well.
Supposedly the gear does clear the phone emails and mark them as read if you use the native email app. I use Gmail and do have to clear the phone again after reading in the gear. Also the gear doesn't show the entire email. It shows most of it, then says to see the rest on the phone...

gear made my life easier, but only because of custom ROM. i'm still using null 11.1 where everything is working for me, so i don't see a need to make an update and spend another hour configuring everything, i'm not a number whore..
stock gear is a devils device, terrible to use with zero configuration.

yeah, of course if you load an email app on the watch and have internet to the watch, then marking an email as read on the watch will mark it as read on the server, and mark it as read on any device, including your phone. but using the built in gear notifications, it won't do this.

no. smart delay is just to open up the app on your phone. So if you're looking at an SMS notification on your watch and you pick up your phone, Gear Manager will open up the SMS app on your phone for you. This in turn will clear the notification, but only as a side effect.

i never used smart relay, but i guess it will work, because wake-up gesture works on mine.
why is it better? because it is. i can use internet, have a custom layout for my apps (no more swiping across 7 pages to get to the voice memos or any other app). if i want to do something on my watch, i can do it within 3 seconds, literally.
i can start a direct dial to a predefined person.
i can record 60 seconds videos with custom rom.
i can secretly record both video and audio without time limit while keeping screen off (saves battery life).
i can set a countdown timer, or a stopwatch.
i can read ebooks.
i can sync my google keep notes
i can sync my grocery list
i can browse 9gag on my wrist
i can use calculator!
i can check and answer to my emails (by using gmail and google keyboard)
i can use google translate service (with both text and audio input)
i can check my bank account
i can use hangouts IM
i can play some simple games
i can have full calendar agenda
i can use full google maps
.. and way more.
now, what can you do with stock rom?
you can answer calls.
you can take 15 secs max videos.
you can reply to texts using s voice.
you can download stock apps available in samsung store (not a single one is worth your time)
you can pair it only with other samsung phones.
for me the answer is clear. if i can't put null on it, it goes back to store as a terrible smartwatch. it's capable of way more things than samsung officialy let you use..

there is no easy way to reply to texts though, there is a tabletsms but it doesn't work so fluently.
you do not loose any functionality when running custom rom. you just gain more.
Since we're not allowed to use our cell phones at work, I'm able to covertly use the internet with this thing.

No collage suggestions after upgrade to Pie?

I am not getting collage suggestions after upgrade to Pie?
Is this feature gone from Gallery app?
It's still here but you have to swipe down in the gallery app to reveal more categories.
I notice when I had Oreo that all those features (same on Google photos) are not available when pictures are saved on a SD card. What a shame. So I removed it.
I wonder if it's the same on Pie?
All I see is Stories. No collages.

Yes, I found them there a few times when I took newly similar pictures.
The drawback is that if you save/store your pictures on a SD card it won't work at all, and the same goes for Google photo (don't know why).

Question RCS in Samsung Messages doesn't work on S21 Ultra Unlocked [T Mobile US]

Hi All
I have T mobile US. I made a mistake by getting the S21 Ultra unlocked version from Samsung. Now RCS doesn't work on native Samsung Messages app and no I don't want to use google messages app. Is there a work around or Time line on when they will open RCS on Unlocked devices?
Thanks in advance.

Anyone know how long it will take for them to allow RCS on native Samsung messages app for S21 ultra Unlocked T mobile customers?

If it is in fact working on T-Mobile firmware, then flash the T-Mobile firmware.
IIRC (could be wrong) Samsung said that their Messaging app won't support RCS... But if that's the case, then you can blame Samsung for not including it at all lol. But back when I had a Note 20 Ultra, Samsung said the same thing, however, there was this quick little setup that let you use RCS with Samsung messages.
It started with the installation of Google Messages and activation of RCS. But I just can't remember the following steps... Just search for what I mentioned on XDA and you'll probably find the post. But either way, after testing it out and having it work, I switched back to Google Messages anyways as it had a much better interface and better features for a techy/nerdy person like myself =)

Yeah, thanks for the update. I just looked into it and the IMS command via Google Phone was removed in Android 11 - hence why this doesn't work anymore =(. What a let down.
I figured out that if you flash the U firmware on the U1 phone and use the HOME_CSC, it'll give you the updated Samsung Messages with chat settings.
Google Messages is getting a makeover on Samsung phones. Is your phone eligible?
The Google Message app is getting a One UI-inspired makeover on Samsung phones making one handed use easier.
www.androidauthority.com
It's part of their closer partnership with Google that spawned the Galaxy Watch4. They're basically slowly abandoning Samsung Messages (and probably the rest of their own stuff eventually) and working more closely with Google to make OneUI-matching versions of the Google app suite. Why spend time developing their own tools when Google will do the work for them, I guess.
You need to download the app Carrier Services and also Google Chat.
You're gonna have a prompt asking for your number on Messages.
Then you can Uninstall Google Chat.

Question What SMS/text's application are you using?

As title, what aplication are you using for sms/text's?
Currently I am using stock samsung, but is is incredibly slow. I mean I type quickly, and sometimes my messages appear after 5-10 sec in it. Also I can get a text and when I enter apk I need to wait another 3/4 sec just to let it appear. Very frustrating, looking for something better, maybe google messages with one ui are better? Or maybe you got some alternatives?
