I used voice for camera photos a lot more than for Bixby voice wakeup, and googled to find the solution, but it doesn't look like they're is any option anywhere to turn off the Bixby voice wakeup. You would think that something the voice option in camera would bring up a Bixby voice toggle, but nope.
Disabling the system Bixby voice app doesn't even kill Bixby voice.. the only thing that does is uninstalling the Bixby update, but of course the Shop Samsung app then just wants to update it again anyway.

well worth the couple dollars....i have everything bixby related disabled
The link is broken. Any other way to get the app?
If you're rooted you can use Titanium Backup to freeze all Bixby modules.
Adhell 3 can easily block any package plus it has the added benefit of system wide ad-blocking. Use this guide to setup: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/adhell-3-1-assistance-t3873831 (its post 3 or 4 I think that has the instructions). Enjoy! Its a bit of a pain to setup but works beautifully after its all done.
Or simply use adb command(s). Listed under Bixby

I have enabled Voice input in Settings --> Language and Keyboard --> Samsung Keypad --> Voice Input.
However, when I press the "Voice Input" button in the keyboard, it shows that Voice Input is disabled in my phone. You can see the screenshot below.
I DID NOT install a custom ROM, all stock. My phone is ROOTED and I have NOT "frozen" any apps that I think is critical for voice input. You can see the list below of ALL the apps I have "frozen" using Titanium Backup.
Can anyone help?

FROZEN APPS LIST
I seem to have this issue as well but I AM on a Custom ROM and am Rooted, etc. Id also like to know how to fix this as I like to use this feature for "Talking to text", etc... Also, I am using SmartKeyboard at the moment but I dont think that has anything to do with it as I have used this keyboard on my SGSII as well (which was also running custom ROM and was rooted) and I never had this issue before.
Anyone?
***EDIT***
Hmmm... I went back into the Samsung Keyboard settings and unchecked then RE checked the voice input option and now it seems to be working...
Well i checked and i have exactly the same issue.. stock rom and rooted, mic crossed out just like OP...
edit: mucked about a bit, and finally read the manual?...doh!.. Once i started voice input by double press of the home button it all started to work..

So you can press the "microphone" icon in the keyboard and it works now? Or are you referring to "double-clicking" the home button?
What I am looking for is the 2nd paragraph above. For example, I want to use voice input to write email WHILE I have the email app open. With my Thunderbolt, I can do so by tapping on the "microphone" icon.
No one use the "Voice recognition" in the Note?
So far I don't see a way to disable Bixby. Google Assistant won't work at all when I dload it. Anyone have a work around for this? I have the OS 9 update installed and running the phone on AT&T's network. Using Nova Launcher as well. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.
With "Package Manager" (available on Play store) or ADB comnands (adb shell pm uninstall -k –user 0 name.of.package), disable these packages

Then remap your Bixby button with something like Button Mapper Pro (other alternatives exist on the Play Store too)

Personally the only two Bixby packages I kept enabled are:
They're used by the Camera app for Bixby Vision, and it's quite useful

I did not use any work around or configure
my Bixby button to launch Google Assistant.
Even though, I have a bxActions (Bixby button remapper) installed,
I use the Bixby button for other functions.
I'm also using Nova Launcher (Prime)
Stock, no root.
My Note 9 is on Android Pie.
I know there's a few different ways to
configure Google Assistant .
Anyway i have configured my Home button
(long press ) in Nova Prime Settings, (see screenshot)
Further,
I have (alternatively) enabled
Google Assistant, always on (listening)
So i can call/wake phone from sleep or in any app.
Work fine, no issues.
This always on, setting you can find in the relevant Google settings on device.
Then yes the other ways are with a Bixby
button remapper, which i have tested /tried
in the past, but prefer above.
Note that i have not disabled or freezed
any Bixby functions at all.
I don't have any issues of Bixby interfering.
Good luck.
I use bxactions pro. It's worth purchasing. You can remap the Bixby button to enable your Google assistant. You can remap the volume buttons as well. App is well made and easy to follow. They have the free version which you can try. It might be all you need.
Hey there,
is there a way, to remove the behavior that a long press on the power-button first starts the google assistant instead of getting directly to the "power menu"? I've tried to disable it in the settings which gives me then the option to activate the assistant and unless we gain root, i assume all the bloatware can't be uninstalled
Would another Launcher (https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony-themes-apps/app-xperia-home-10-0-0-40-t3369220) fix it?
Edit:
In the System Settings under "Intelligent Support" (or something like that) there you have "Shortcuts and gestures" there you can disable this behaviour.
Best regards
Seel

You're welcome! Unfortunately you have to press the Power Button really long until the Power-Menu is seen... but this is a first world problem But atleast the Google Assistant isn't nagging around...
Anyone know of a way to remap this functionality? Eg, get holding power button to open the camera instead? I know there's the double-tap volume down shortcut, but that only works when the screen is locked and if no media is playing.
Yes, You can customize Volume button on long press behavior for example with button mapper app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton . I'm using this app to remap Netflix button on my Android powered TV's remote control and here on P30 Pro to launch camera app.

On the subject of Google Assistant, can anyone confirm this bug on their device?
Place phone in airplane mode, 'accidentally' activate Google Assistant, screen will stay on forever. I noticed this as I often leave my phone face down and plugged in on the side (it's my second device) and I came down one morning to find the screen lit. I'd obviously activated assistant by catching the power button. Luckily I don't seem to have any screen burn.
No Launchers do not change power button settings
Hello, on the old phone one day I received a notification that said "you want to activate DO NOT DISTURB automatically when driving?" I clickes "yes" and this appeared in the menu.

I think they disable that option because it wasn't "smart " enough to detect if you were driving, a passenger or even on a train.
There are two options to enable DnD (do not disturb). None is a native option. First, like I do, install android auto and set the bluetooth device. The second one is an app named driving inspector.
Hope it helps.

It is possible to "copy" the native options from my S7 edge?
I want this function because I use it every day with no other app installed :/
PS: I searched "driving inspector" on google and play store but I can't find it.
I can't find my Chromecast when clicking on Smart View on my S21 Ultra. It still works on my Tab S4. What gives? Is there a fix or work around for this? Streaming still works with Google Home, but Google home does not work with, for example with Samsung TV. Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Do you find your Samsung tv via smart things?
Just pull down the notifications and click on devices.
Smart view + chromecast has been disabled since One UI 3 I think. It'll still work with Samsung TVs. You now have to use the Google home app and enable screen mirroring.

Well that's kinda annoying
Since SmartView 8.2.20.14 now has the "Google Cast" option which re-enables SmartView to find and mirror the screen on Google Chromecast, is there a way to force the app to update on my phone as it is a system app?

I'm talking about Samsung's Smart View (com.samsung.android.smartmirroring)
