Hi,
So, I got a Samsung Galaxy TAB 8.9 (GT-7300) WiFi+3G. Nordic/European version. I have a long history of rooting and running custom ROM's on my Android devices, but this time i f##ed up a bit.
1. Installed root_original.zip from this thread by copying it on to the tablet and applying it from stock recovery.
2. Booted and installed Superuser and ROM Manager from Market.
3. Used ROM Manager to install CWM for Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Yes, I know...).
4. Tab would not boot, but I could still get in to download mode. Browsed some XDA threads and came across this guy who seemed to have the same problem. I did not see that he had a P7310 (WiFi only) tablet. So, I used Odin 1.85 to install the bootloader, which was for the P7310, not for P-7300. Now, the tablet boots but the display is just flickering, like it is using a wrong refresh rate or wrong resolution. Not at all possible to read anything, but I can still get into Download mode.
5. Installed stock rom from here, specifically this one: P7300XWLA2------2012 January----P7300NEELA1-----Nordic countries----
Still no luck. The tablet boots into Android but the display is still flickering.
$20 for anyone who gets me out of this mess
Can you come in recovery ?
Than try this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519564
There is an option in CWM under the mount and storage tab where stands mount usb connection click on that and move this to your tab after that install it
I hope it will work!
You could also try the Swedish firmware: http://hotfile.com/dl/146666862/13403b2/P7300XWKL4_P7300NSEKL1_NSE.zip.html
The NSE are usually pretty much the same as NEE with some swedish bloatware. Worth a try I guess.
Also see this guide for how to use Odin in case you did something wrong: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406137
One thing that I've noticed when flashing with Odin is that even if I check the F.reset checkbox it still does not do a factory reset (at least it did not do it for me). You should be able to do a factory reset using the stock recovery.
Oh and btw, my advice is for free.
Hi safariking,
I can get in to recovery, but I'm unable to read anything, as the display is just flickering. I would need a press-by-press guide in order to perform the steps correctly... :/
Thanks kallt_kaffe, I'll try the swedish firmware and follow the guide step-by-step

I can't really verify the factory reset. I can get into stock recovery, but the display is still rubbish so I can't do a manual factory reset.

I have attached a photo of the tab in stock recovery so you can see what's wrong. This happens no matter if I start normally, recovery or download mode.

If you turn it off and charge it, is the charging-mode-display also distorted?
Also if I were you I would leave it on in download or recovery mode and let the battery drain completely. Worth a shot I guess.

If I turn it off it automatically turns back on and boots Android. So I can't see if the "charging while turned off" icon is also distorted.

I left it in download mode last night, it's still turned on. I'll let the battery drain and see what happens when I connect the charger.
When I flash a complete ROM with Odin (e.g. the Swedish ROM you suggested) - is there anything left to flash that could be causing this? If I were to return the tablet to the dealer, will there be any evidence of dumb-user-flashing?

I honestly do not know.
Have you tried flashing the PIT file (in the PIT section) along with the ODIN image (in the PDA section)? You can download the PIT file so you can click on Repartition, right here. It's a very small file. Be sure you have F.Reset Time checkmarked too. Best of lucks.
If you flash a bootloader for P7310 so when you trying to flash P7300 ROM with odin, the bootloader will mapping all file just like P7310 with their partition Layout.. I think the pit file is not the solution..
First you need turn back the bootloader to original form.. I dont know where I can find P7300 bootloader..
After you finish with the bootloader, try to install P7300 Stock rom, with pit file and repartition..
I dont know if this post will help you.. but it worth to try..
EDIT:
maybe you can use firmware from P7300ZSKH5 from this link
This file include with bootloader and pit file..
Flash with Odin like image below

Thanks for your suggestion, but unfortunately: no luck.
Just to be sure this isn't a compatibility issue on my computer, I set up a clean install Win7. I'm using x64, could this be an issue?

As long as you have the right drivers installed, no. That's my setup.
I had a similar issue. It occured only when I turned display off and on, both in android and in battery charging mode while powered off. I just went back to the store and got it replaced. xD
Anyway the flickering began to show up after flashing 3.2 back from a 4.0 rom... So I think there was something wrong with the bootloader.. Didnt find any tar file containing the original bootloader.. Perhaps someone here can make it for you
hey,
i got same problem after i tried to install cm9. now i cant install nothing (i formated cash, data, system and preload) no data factory reset working. i have nonstop bootloops and format cache and dalvik not working but cwm ist starting but not working really. but can start download mode too ... so i think its not a super-brick for my gt 7300 from switzerland.
so, i will try to download from samMobile the original firmware and to flash with odin. anybody knows a tutorial with odin for gt 7300? cant find nothing for pit, csc, tar ...
please help me
thx sophie from switzerland

I have to say, I was about to send the tablet to samsung, it was dead, no rom, no boot, no partition, no USB connection to store, what save me was the Odin up load that you recommended me, the tablet was really crashed.
I Think that is a sollution for actually almost any problem on the tablet (a complete format, sure, but still a good solution for ROM problems).
anyway, Many Thanks!!!!!!
Newbie try to help.
Have you try to install another CMW version using odin? Maybe it's caused by wrong CMW version. Try CMW v5.5.0.4 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312218
Hello guys!
My friend gave his Galaxy Note for me to get a brick fix. He said that he flashed the German ICS STOCK ROM and wiped using CWM. He said that he entered in a bootloop. Then he tried to flash using ODIN, but it stopped at factoryfs, as known at the eMMC bug. In the bug, he disconnected the USB cable and he is seeing a message which says to connect to Kies and select recovery. But he said that didn't worked and Kies didn't recognized the phone. Even with ODIN, loaded with PIT and PDA, the phone wasn't able to receive factoryfs, the same file from the 1st error. I followed a lot of tutorials here on XDA and used the search to find a similar thread. He needs help, since recovery mode, charging mode and normal mode are blocked by the message. I need a ROM which contains the PDA, the CSC and the MODEM files. I already have the PIT, so I need those 3 files to try again.
--PHONE DETAILS--
Samsung Galaxy Note N7000
16GB Storage
LAST Firmware completelly flashed: XXLRQ (I think that is the firmware which you can't wipe)
ICS Stock
Thanks!
EDIT: I tried with another GB firmware and with an ICS firmware. Still NOT WORKING.
EDIT #2: The phone still have Download mode open!
BIGGEST EDIT:
All of the methods in this thread are NOT WORKING. Still stops at factoryfs and CWM says "Installation Aborted". SO, WHAT I CAN DO? He is desperated, I'm desperated. PLEASE ANSWER FAST !!

He did successfully bricked his devices.. If you are not able to enter into download mode you have a paperweight in your hands... If he has warranty try to get it replaced.. If he doesn't then try the pit file method on the general forum..
You don't need any 3 files.. It's the same or at least the effect its the same with 1 or 3 files

Well then your only option its the warranty or pay samsung either for a new phone or a mother board replacement...
That pit file method its only a partial solution to help you get your device partially working maybe a couple of months.. When the emmc bug happens it does damage the Emmc chip so the hardware its fried and there's no software that can repair it..
The pit method could work for someone but not for others.. Depends on the damage

Here I think you may find a solution for your problem.
If you think you need to flash the 3 files with odin try flashing an old GB ROM, you can find it here, some (NOT ALL) of the ROM in this post has PDA, CSC and PHONE part.
Good luck!

It's doesn't matter if it's 1 or 3 files.. The pit file just repartition the emmc in order to reacomodate the memory and so you can flash the rom.. Flashing separately phone csc and PDA won't make any difference..

This solution is based on a GB kernel. I'm in the same situation as Mr.Indigo, with the same ROM and the same problems. I need to use CM9 kernel to use with ICS, right? Or I can use GB kernel?

Also tried to root again but again its stuck on downloading... do not turn off target screen.
Boot to download mode and it says as it should Downloading do not turn off .
You are now supposed to flash the firmware via odin .
You should flash your stock firmware to get the phone working .
Then read the basic faqs and guides before you flash anything as its pointless flashing without reading the basics .
Or take it to a service centre .

Is there a way to know my version/pda since i have no idea what stock rom to download
Device model no. in recovery mode
Hi,
Sorry to ask a random question. I Have my device model no. as S3 I9305 when I go to download mode and in my phone settings I can see my device model as S3 I9305T. I have recently installed Australian official firmware(XSA version without any career bloatware) in my phone, which is the S3 I9305T. I found it weird to have two different model nos. in 2 different places. When I first bought this phone it was the Telstra version, which is S3 I9305T. After that I changed many firmwares and installed S3 I9305 version from optus and other country's S3 I9305 version as well. Could you please tell me why is that?? Is this because I once installed I9305 firmware once? If that's the reason, today I flashed I9305T official firmware again with Odin. Is there any way to reset the download mode as well?? Please reply. Thanks.

Not unless you know what it is or saved the original .
You can just pick a stock rom for your area/ network .
If you bothered to read the basics their would be no need for all this ratting about .

So you run odin in windows.
Boot your phone to download mode
Connect device and wait for confirmation of connection in odin.
And then you click pda and choose a stock firmware.
And click start.
@tissot Odin gives fail error as I stated before. Am going to try 3 part odin package ive downloaded,.

Hi, you did something wrong in the critical part of the rooting process going to guess and say it was the main reboot after odin flash.
Had this issue 3 times, the best would be to follow this root process and READ everything line for line.
You'd be supersized that the smallest thing you've missed may have caused it.
To fix it, download original software for your model and country from SamMobile or any other form - use this software: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/how-to/tool-frija-samsung-firmware-downloader-t3910584
Remember DO NOT DELETE THE .md5 from the file name after you've extracted it.

Something has gone wrong with your rooting, happened to me once.
Press and hold Volume-down, Bixby and Power button, connect phone with USB to PC, wait, release all buttons soon as Download screen appears. Now flash with stock firmware and start rooting from scratch.

Hi, Ok the best way to do so is to get hold of stock firmware for your device.
Try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/how-to/tool-frija-samsung-firmware-downloader-t3910594
Then secondly you will need the PIT file of your device !IF YOU BREAK YOUR PHONE IT IS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY! :https://zfirmware.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-plus-g975-repair-firmware/
Make sure that when you select BL,AP,CP and CSC to leave the .md5 extension on the file, if all 4 loads without any errors and you have the correct PIT file you will be able to boot stock firmware.
In my case i had the same error because i flashed a modded debranded firmware without first flashing the stock AP.
So first, debrand you phone by flashing the stock debranded firmware, then flash the magisk patched version of it.
In other words, always flash the STOCK version of the firmware you want THEN flash the magisk PATCHED version (if you are moving from a version to another one, particularly if CSC is different).
Hi, I need some help flashing my device. Somehow, my device got stuck in a boot loop last night, and I've been having trouble getting it to work again. I think my phone may have reset during an update while in my pocket as I was laying down on the couch last night.
I found my device firmware on sammobile according to the specs listed below. I've downloaded Odin 3.14.4 and have flashed my phone successfully 3 or 4 times at this point, but when it restarts post-flash, it keeps booting into download mode. I can't seem to get it to boot into recovery mode or just turn it off at all anymore. No matter what, it boots straight into download mode.
Does anyone know of a way that I can force it into recovery mode so that I can try restarting it normally? This is my first time flashing a phone, so I have little experience here though I am competent with technology and willing to try further tricks to get it working.
I'm just looking for recommendations and hoping that my phone isn't bricked. I've only owned it for 3 months at this point, so I'm very disappointed.
Thanks in advance for the help, and I'm happy to provide any more information if it helps you come up with any potential solutions.

Do you have TWRP installed? Try flushing it. You can also follow Dr. Ketan ROM installation guide, it's very straightforward.

I don't. I was looking at that post earlier and noticed that it mentioned the G998B/N model. Mine is the G998U1, so I was worried that it wouldn't work or cause more problems. I couldn't find any versions of TWRP that matched my specific model.
your bootloader version is above v1. cannot be unlocked. you need to flash a samsung rom. try redownloading it if you can't boot. and twrp probably won't work either.
you're saying that if you hold the vol up key and power button when the device is off that it won't reboot into recovery at all?

I was actually able to get it to boot into recovery mode this morning. The download mode timed out and the phone shut off which allowed me to finally get into it. I tried redownloading the same rom I got from sammbolie again a few mins ago but still no luck.
Try another firmware with the same BL revision, CVC9 for example

Was your phone carrier branded originally? And you're flashing the u1 firmware so you won't have bloat? Or is it originally an unlocked model? I ask because if it was originally carrier branded and you used the Odin version from the SamMobile site then that may be the reason. U need to use the modded version of Odin that's floating around somewhere. If you need it I can upload it to my drive and let you download that version. I literally just flashed VCB last night and everything worked just fine.

No, I bought my phone directly from Samsung, and I bought the unlocked model. I chose the rom from sammobile that looked to be exactly what my phone originally had on it based on the model and PDA/carrier info I found when looking through the recovery logs on the phone when the issue first occurred, before flashing anything onto it. If you think the modded Odin might work, I'd be willing to give it a shot.
I can't tell you the exact differences, but I would flash with the patched odin. it's on xda if you search for it.
No luck so far. I've downloaded the patched Odin software and have tried flashing my device numerous times with the same result. I also tried tried flashing firmware that I found on Frija instead of the firmware I originall downloaded from sammobile to see if anything would be different, and that didn't seem to make a difference.
My best guess (could be wrong) is that it doesn't like the bootloader tied to the firmware I've tried to flash onto the device. I've spent a good while searching firmware that uses the version of the bootloader it wants, but I can't find it anywhere. At this point, I'm all out of ideas, but I appreciate everyone's responses and advice.
So this is what you are saying: You're using patched odin (https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachments/odin3-v3-14-1_3b_patched-zip.5158507/) to flash an official U1 Samsung rom (https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-G998U1/XAA/G998U1UES5CVCB for example) in the AP slot, all other slots are empty, without any odin errors during flash, and are then unable to boot, with partition errors seen in download mode? This is very unusual... flashing in download mode overwrites partitions, including recovery. I would assume if there are no odin errors, then the rom file is not corrupt and the sd card is not damaged. I don't know much about flashing through odin with a locked bootloader, maybe unpatched odin with the above instructions is worth a shot. I'm out of ideas aside from the sd card being damaged or trying unpatched odin if the above instructions with patched odin are resulting in recovery partition errors. I don't think you can access adb in download mode either.
You can extract the CSC file using 7zip. In there you will find the PIT file and you can try flashing it with repartition selected and inserting the PIT file in developers section of Odin.

Interesting. I did not try it with only the AP slot populated. I thought you needed to always flash with the BL, AP, CP, and CSC.
wait, i messed up. if it has all of those files, flash them. my bad. i was thinking about custom roms - sorry about that.
Hey everyone, just wanted to make a final update.
I ended up bringing my phone into ubreakifix after trying just about everything I could, and they were not able to fix it either. They suggested that it might be a hardware issue and recommended sending it to Samsung for repair. I then sent it over to Samsung, and they confirmed that it was an issue with my motherboard. Samsung replaced my motherboard, and the phone is back in action. Since I only had my phone for about 6 months, it was still under warranty.
I appreciate everyone who took their time to provide me with advice. I hope that this post may help someone experiencing a similar issue to mine in the future.
