This is so strange. When I'm watching Netflix on my Note 8, the pause screen pops up as if I touched the screen. Happens maybe 5 or 6 times per 1 hour episode. I also noticed it happening on YouTube. In addition, Maps will auto-minimize and go into picture in picture mode without me touching the phone. Anyone else have this issue or have any words of wisdom on how to fix it.

Are you using headphones with inline mic? This has caused the problems you describe to me before. I have not got a clue otherwise.

It has occurred with earpods with mic, Bluetooth headphones with mic and the maps issue happened in my car so no headphones were plugged in just bluetooth on the head unit. This is so strange and annoying lol

Exactly what I would've guessed too.

I do not use my £60 headphones for this reason
If it was me I would at least try a factory reset, that 'may' resolve it. Just a lot of work setting the phone up again if it does not. (factory reset will wipe internal storage...)

Try to wipe the cache on all the apps?

My SGS stopped playing audio on the left channel today, happened all of a sudden. Music was playing fine, pressed pause, removed headset and an hour later i pop it back in and only hear audio from the left side. Tried reboot, factory reset, rom change etc. No luck so far.
I have never had this problem before, and it's quite devastating.
Any ideas, suggestions?

Yeah, well headset is about 2 years old, but I haven't had any problems with it so far. And I also tried it out on my home stereo where the same issue occured, where only the left speaker played audio.
I tried with a normal pair of headphones, where both sides worked well with my phone. They didn't have a microphone, so I'm guessing the problem is in that area.
Not really sure what to do.
So, about 24h ago, my phone lost the ability to dispense and intake sound. Just like that. A peculiar thing is that only audio jack works.
I didn't drop it or hit it or damaged it in any way, nor did anyone else, the phone was with me all the time. It just stopped playing the sound whether it's a ringing or sms or a notif of any kind. Music don't play on speaker, and when a call happens, there is absolutely no sound on either end of the line.
I did a factory reset and a V20b reflash and everything else and... nothing helped
Is it a hardware fault?

looks like a hardware fault to me, but it could be something pretty simple. It sounds like your saying the mic died also? this would narrow the issue down if so.
Did you have headphones plugged in before the issue?

Yes, the mic died, too, because when called, the person on the other end gets no sound whatsoever from my part. It's the same the other way around, which is strange since the mic and ear speaker are on the opposite sides of the phone. What takes out both of them + the main speaker?
I recorded a film with camera while a moderate music played in the room, but there's nothing but crackling.

Yes, maybe 3 hours before I noticed the problem the first time. I listened to music while outside.
If you're aiming at the phone thinks it has earphones always connected, it's not that. The phone clearly registers when they are plugged in and when they aren't by displaying, or not, the earphones icon in the notifbar.
Sounds like a weired issue to me. Once it happened, did you reboot the phone after this isue occured?
If I remember correctly, my old phone (not this one) had exactly same issue, I think rebooting and clearing cache and stuff (not sure if factory reset) fixed the issue. Worth a shot before going to fix the hardware
It's happened to me many times on my last Sony phone. Just keep jamming the headphones in and out and it should clear, the phone still thinks they're plugged in

Yes, a few times. Factory reset and V20b reflash, too (It was on official 4.1.2 anyway), and wiped all the partitions from boot menu.

As I stated in my previous post, phone detects the headphones the normal way when they are plugged in and displays the headphones icon in notification bar, and removes it when I pull them out. Furthermore, music players pause/stop playing the moment the phones are unplugged.

Thanks, I'll have a look, but I'm not really sure what I can or should do.
The thing is, the phone is under a year old and has warranty, so I elect not to open it by myself... yet. Just don't want to leave it at the shop where it'll most certainly spend at least 10 days before anyone even looks at it (because of Easter and International Workers' Day). I'm also baffled by the fact that the ear speaker on top of the phone doesn't work. If it were just the bottom part, I would've gotten a replacement and switched it myself (one part holds both), but it's obviously something more complicated than that and I don't dare to discover what on my own.
In any case, I'll see what I can do about the problem after the holidays and I'll keep you apprised of the outcome.
Epilogue: The motherboard was faulty and they gave me a new phone.
So I decided to use my headphones today for the first time and the sound is distorted and Google now would automatically start every ten seconds! Anyone else having this issue? I used my headphones on my laptop with no problems. This really blows.

I didn't have this exact problem. I did get the google now thing a lot. And only some times. Like some days it wouldn't happen at all and others it wouldn't stop. I also have been having a problem with if I kneel/bend my body to much it'll shut the music off.

Clear the dust of headphone jack and give it a try and also give it a look that if the headphone is plugged in properly or not. I mean if it's Completely inserted or not
I have a similar problem. When using the headphone jack i just receive sound on one channel, the other one is mute. The only way to receive sound on both channel is to force the headphone plug to the left

Have you tried with different headphones?
Is anyone else finding that they'll plug in headphones and the handset isn't recognising that there's something plugged in?

No, never happened
Nope.
I have the same problem. Some headphones work fine and others don't. I found that an app called SoundAbout can fix this. It can force the audio into the headphones even if the system doesn't recognize the headphones. Seems that this is a software problem.
I'm still having the problem that some headphones just won't stay plugged and come off easily. Wonder if the problem is the actual headphone socket?

I had the same problem with the standard headphones, every other headphone worked, i actually find a method is pretty stupid but you have to put some saliva on the jack and twist it in the headphone jack so it makes contact, obviously now i changed headphones.

This just started happening to me this week. My Mate 9 was bought in February. I was about to do a full reset but I'll try SoundAbout and the saliva trick and post an update later.
UPDATE: SoundAbout fixed it for me. This leads me to believe the phone needs a reset as it doesn't appear to be a hardware issue.
Hi,
I bought a new N7+. But I noticed that whenever I plug my headphones, the music starts playing through the speaker instead of the heaphones. I tried with various headphones that I have. Has this happened to others too? Is there a fix for it? Do you think this is hardware issue or software bug?
Have returned the phone in warranty and awaiting a new one.
Please do let me know.
Same issue. But it happened only after the May update. The issue goes away if you reboot the phone with the headset plugged in.

so it is only a software issue right? not anything to do with the hardware? is the same issue happening in android P developer?

I'm not sure about Android P, but this is most certainly a software issue. It only started after I applied the May security patch.
Haven't had time to escalate this to Nokia yet, but when I do I'll updated here what they had to say.

Do you think this is happening to many other users too? Because I didn't find any thread related to this so thought it's only me & a faulty piece.
This is quite a serious bug if software related and if it's been 3 months already, surprising that no one's talking about it. the 3.5mm jack is one of the most important reasons why I went for this & didn't wait for the MI A2.
I think the only reason this isn't a big deal is because the issue is random. It happens to me once in 2-3 days.
Strangely enough, today it happened while I was connected to my car via Bluetooth. The audio was playing on the phone's speakers. But a re-start fixed it.
Yeah same thing happening to me also is there any solution?

On the 1st day that I got the phone it happened to me 4 times in 24 hours. But I guess it's because I am always on my headphones throughout the day.
I can't keep restarting the phone every single time it happens.
Same goes for bluetooth. I have to lower the volume every time I start the music because sometimes it just does not route the audio to the headset. Had a couple of embarassing moments in the office... Also noticed that if I watch a movie and switch between apps back and forth, when I resume the playback the phone starts to play the audio on both the phone and on the headset for a couple of seconds, also very anoying..
