I was just thinking about making a post regarding the AOSP Pie ROM but I'll respond in here.
It could be that it's this particular ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development/rom-aosp-pie-t3829466
I'm keen to find out if anyone is using it and how they find performance, and what is working and what is broken etc.

Hy guys,
I'm new on this forum, and I'm French, so sorry for my English if is not very good. I have Huawei P8 lite ALE L21. So I installed Lineage OS 14.1 UNOFFICIAL on my Huawei. But i have some questions. This versions of LIneage OS is UNOFFICIAL, but the version of this Lineage OS can will be updated later for the new Android O or updated with new features?
And Can I install android 7 without custom rom just with update firmware?
And last questions, do you know custom rom 7.1.2 stable for Huawei ALE L21? And can will be updated?
I hope I have a answer soon, sorry for my English but I hope you'r undestanding what I'd said.
Thx a lot,
Bye ,
Polo
I have to disappoint you but there won't be probably further custom ROMs (especially Android O) . The devs are mainly focused at other devices.

The LineageOS and ResurrectionRemix ROMs are similarly stable. The problem is that they don't get actively developed any more. Make sure to use the appropriate CPU fix. (UPDATE: INCLUDED IN NEW BUILD) I'd go with RROS because it has more customisation options and is designed to work with substratum.
That said:
* GPS doesn't work
* Video Recording only works on some apps, e.g. an app called Footej Camera will become your camera option
* I couldn't recieve calls, but that might have been only for me
* Use ForceDoze to save battery
And always make sure to look around in the thread, not just the main post. There are small and big fixes hidden in there sometimes
As for android O, OpenKirin repository has an android-O branch. We shall see if we get it.
UPDATE: RROS has been updated. Maybe there's still hope for this device.

EDIT: Sorry, wrong subforum, I meant to post this on the Redmi4x / Santoni subforum.
Greetings, I think this is my first post here (sorry, I'm still practicing my english and this post may have horrible mistakes).
Currently I'm using the latest version of MIUI (9.x I think), but as much as I love this phone I've always been in love with the performance and customization... and this phone has a hell of a bloatware.
I'm aware of the latest Oreo roms and I know recently Xiaomi has released the source code for the santoni phone but still no rom is perfect, specially the Oreo ones, so I'm looking for the closest aosp/stock experience I can get with full compatibility, I think a nougat based rom will do fine but wich one?
I'm planning to install a rom, install greenify, have a good battery life, have more free space and still have full camera, gps and other compatibility with no issues.
Wich rom could you recommend me?
Thanks in advance.

Aex official Oreo or pixel experience
Mi-Globe MIUI based on the latest official or developer release. Can be customised to your needs.
Working beautifully and you can remove all the leftover MI crap with system app remover, free from the store.
None of the 3rd party ROMs have the excellent battery life as MIUI unfortunately.
Google search Loup 14.1 for santoni.
It is by noyer, father of development on santoni.
For some reason he isn't on XDA but his ROM is what you need you can follow him on github and twitter though. He even managed to port Sailfish Os for Santoni. I'm using Loup 14 with clarity kernel and experience is awesome.

correct..i thought to suggest the questioner...but you did before me. by the way, once rooted the Stock ROM? all bloat-wares from google and Mi can be removed...Battery and Phone performance everything is good.
even i tried a some recent official releases of Oreo 8.1 for R4x , first few days everything good, later Battery life tarts in consistency. so, i back to stock but removed all Google and Mi's apps ..only very few mi services still existing on my rom, if i delete them my phone gets locked and i need to do everything from scratch again, so i let them persist... Go for stable miui global 9.2 and keep remove the stock bloatwares.

Theres no way to get miui 10 based oreo on santoni without porting, while xiaomi didn't release it. But dont expect too much. (As your thread tittle).
Everyone has its own personal preferences. I liked stock Android experience since my LG e400. Miui only has better theming option ( I like it ) but to bloated with usseles app.

First of all, to flash anything (root,TWRP, custom ROMs) you must unlock Bootloader
Second, check the threads in ROMs section but if I recall correctly for P9, EMUI 5, there were only two or three custom ROMs based on stock and one or two (LOS and maybe RR) based on AOSP - developed (and stopped) back in 2017
EMUI 5 was not ready for GSI ROMs, and every custom ROM must have been adapted and ported to P9
You probably think about new, GSI based Pixel Experience or similar ROMs - for that you would first need to update to EMUI 8, Oreo (and rebrand from your Italian to Chinese EMUI because EMUI 8 was only released for China)
All together not impossible but not as easy and friendly as if you would have a new (Android 9 or 10) Xiaomi, One Plus or a similar phone where you just unlock Bootloader and start experimenting with GSI ROMs
Last but not the least, specially if you are a newbie, think about the community regarding help, learning from, sharing experience - there are only two or three users who are still actively experimenting with GSI/AOSP custom ROMs on P9, posting only something from month to month here, hence you will mostly need to go alone

If your device is unlocked, rebranded and updated to EMUI 8.0, you can install GSI ROMs with some issues. You're better off installing OpenKirin ROMs or sticking to EMUI 8.0. This device isn't very active in development, but we will try to help. You can install phh-based Android O/P ROMs. Android Q GSIs don't work because of this device's VNDK 26.
Hey guys,
Just picking up and using my trusty P20 Pro after a couple years and noticed no custom kernel (4.14+) or ROMs for EMUI 10.
Anyway, just checking if anyone else has done work on this before I start up on it. I intend to start with some custom kernels based on 4.14. Then maybe a custom ROM based on the released 10.0.
I have hardware testpoint but I've sealed up my phone (for now) and will be using software testpoint (via force upgrade) from now on if required.
Edit: I couldn't even find work on the latest kernel on Github, so I have added one here:
xsacha/kirin970-kernel (github.com)
Since this seems surprisingly unpopular, I assume it's because people don't know how to do custom firmware on EMUI 10? I'll write some instructions here for how to do software testpoint in a separate thread here: How to flash kernel in EMUI 10 via Software Testpoint mode | XDA Developers Forums (xda-developers.com)
Hell ya I would like to help
when you have a new rom i am whiling to be a beta tester
Hello, can you add camera2 Api with this method?
