I've seen the external batteries, a DIY possibility, but without compromising the integrity of constantly opening and re-opening the flaps, what are the best options of charging the device?
Without taking off its case considering I have butterfingers lol.
Thanks
A charging cradle, magnetic charger which is pretty expensive and you can build your homemade cradle if you cant afford the original one

Buy a dock or get a wireless charging kit.

No, you don't have to open the flap to use cases with attached external battery. Do a search of this section of the forum and you'll find plenty of options.

Has anyone experienced magnet falling off from the charger?
I've been using this charger for about a week now,
all the sudden the charger won't stick to my phone so i took a closer look and found out magnet wasn't there anymore.
i guess i should never buy anything from ebay? or does it happen alot?
I used it for about 3 or 4 days and nothing fell off.
you probably got a faulty one.
I got one from ebay and I'm O.K with it.
First few days I had some problems but now it's all O.K.
I love that way of charging...

Hello guys. I want to warn you before setting QI wireless charger adapter in original cover / housing. Another you will get Galaxy S5 Flex, like me. :good:

Did you bend your phone by putting in a third party qi coil?

No idea how you did that as my case only had a minor, barely noticeable bump when I used a wireless Qi receiver with the standard case.

I'm not obnoxious, I'm grateful and was excited, because back in second grade i wanted the LG G Flex but it was too big, then when i heard galaxy s5 was coming out i would pray every night by my night stand as i looked into the stars "please be a curved display, please be a curved display..." i didn't think it was impossible seeing that they had released former devices like galaxy nexus and their new uhd curved TV's.... but now thanks to knowing this site (i use Tapatalk) i can find a way where i don't have to wait for manufacturers to come up with one because the OP has made a beautiful discovery that will go down in android history. now i need to know ..if it will trip knox by curving it?
thanks in advance!

I've been using a QI wireless charging pad for a couple of weeks without any problem. As another user posted, the only effect I've noticed is a slight bulge in the back panel. It doesn't get especially hot (although it does warm a little more than with USB charging.)
The only other thing is that I've got a wallet case on my phone and charge through that (so there's some plastic between the phone and charging plate.)
I have the expower ultra thin card and in the instructions it tells you to remove the copper screening sticker from inside the original back plate as it causes extra heat when charging. Its a ***** to peel off as well. Gets warm but not enough to bend my phone by any means and it charges fine through my defender case there's no noticeable bulge in the back plate either. If i want to put it in water i'll throw an otterbox preserver on it.

Removed the copper sticker to see if it makes any difference. My phone doesn't get any warmer than when charging via USB now.

Any board you get is likely to be a pull from a device with a broken screen, i.e. used. I'd stick with the one you have as you know it works.
Nice ! Gratz, enjoy
You should try white frame with blue cover
I don't know what a verizon motherboard involves, but personnaly I "need" to unlock bootloader, flashing etc.. (plus we can't use Android pay in France)
Just saw motherboards on ebay, they look new and it isn't as expensive as I thought.. Can't guarantee that will work either...

I bought a nexus 6 on Swappa about a week ago and now its in my hands. I love this damn phone, lol I know its out dated but I don't give 2 sheep's. The original owner bout it new about 2 yrs ago, so its got some miles on it. I got a super good deal on it its not a new device it has some scratches on it like on the back cover and the beezle the screen is flawless. Its midnight blue Verizon variant. I have bought a cloud white battery and mid-frame assembly, which should be here soon. I was also thinking about buying a new unlocked/not Verizon mother board and install it. Will installing a new mother/logic board make my nexus new again? I know what you thinking....what's wrong with you're device that you would need a new logic board? Well there is absolutely nothing wrong with the performance of this machine. It would just make me feel better knowing that I have a new motor under the hood, feel me..So what is you're opinion what would you do.

This is the battery I used and I'm very happy with it's performance.
Getting the back off the phone is pretty easy if you use a hot water bottle to warm the back for about ten minutes first. It helps soften the glue holding the back on. Use a magnifying glass to ensure your torx bit fits properly, and that you are holding it inline with the screw head. If it is tilted, you are likely to strip the screw.
Replacing the main board holder will make the process even easier. You'll need a *good* #3 (some phones need a #4) torx bit. Using the cheap ones that come with replacement parts will likely strip the screw heads. I use this set.

Yes , thank you for the link! I usually use a hair dryer to loosen the glue and its much faster, I'm careful not to get the back to hot though. Thank you for you're advice!

I have had troubles with magnetic cases in the past, the magnets interfer with some components, in a S3 the case started the camera! How? I will never know
If done correctly , I've always done red neck by using Velcro. I made sure back of case was clean via alcohol , then same to the smooth area of my dash.
3m grade velcro used, never came off during my last three devices with cases.

I was using it for my Note 4 and currently Oneplus 3t and no problems on that though
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
Currently using mine without any issues - it's between the phone and my thin Spigen case. I never use the S-Pen on the mount - totally pointless...so this whole thing is a moot point unless you use a desk stand magnet holder.
What the metal piece will do, however, is interfere with wireless charging if the charger's coils cannot touch it well enough. I'm currently in the testing phase of seeing which charger works best with this setup.
Choetech Fast Wireless Charger 1: http://amzn.eu/169eOGi
Choetech Fast Wireless Charger 2: http://amzn.eu/4r62fmZ
UPDATE:
So I figured out a way to get the phone to charge with the metal piece inside the case to avoid the coils. Basically, place it horizontally near the bottom 1/3 of the phone (I had it in the middle vertically before - and this is the main area where the coils touch to charge).
I tested with both Choetech chargers this time using a good thick micro-usb cable to my Samsung Note 8 charger. I used the Ampere app to measure the mA. Charger 1 hit around 830-900mA consistently. Charger 2 hit around 500-800mA inconsistently. My Huawei Mate 9 Super Fast Charger and the Samsung Note 8 Charger with my Huawei Mate 9 usb-C Cable and Note 8 usb-C cable both hit 1030-1040mA consistently max when plugged in.
I'm returning the new one (Charger 2). It has a less appealing, odd shape with fans that don't really do anything. It's much bulkier too.
Normally, wireless charging is terrible compared to USB charging, but this setup really impressed me. Try it and let me know what you guys think.
Nice. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I ended up putting the metal disc (which is only even necessary due to my dbrand skin) on the bottom of my phone so I can use a mag mount and still have wireless charging. Sans skin, my note 5 didnt need a disc and my 8 probably wouldn't either.
