Hi, I bought a Mi8 from banggood.
I checked with the IMEI the product authetication by xiaomi. The result is it's no official global version and next time I should purchase it through officially authorized channels.
Is this normal
Is your box in chinese? Global edition has a red sticker on the box
Banggood is not official seller according to other threads.

Hi XDians,
First little background, I live in India. I had oneplus x(ONYX) which i dropped and it didn't survive. I wanted to buy oneplus 3T. So i started surfing for ads on olx(a website to buy or sell stuff just like local ebay). So i got a deal that i was offered chinese version of oneplus 3T(A3010) at less rates.
I have few questions. I wanted to ask to if should i go for this? and whats difference between Chinese version and International version? would this phone be compatible with bands of Indian operators in India?
A Chinese version comes with an H2OS rather than OOS, which is adapted to comply with Chinese law, but IIRC you can flash OOS on a A3010 just like regular 3T.
About compatibility with operators - look up at https://willmyphonework.net/
Hey guys, newbie here.
I wanna buy the P20 Pro and AliExpress have good prices for the upcoming 11.11. I didn't understand the difference between Chinese firmware and global. Will I be able to update and change language in my country (Israel) on that so called Chinese firmware? What are the difference between the two (global and Chinese)? What are the key things to know before purchasing a device from China?
Chinese firmware won't have Google Play Store and google apps.
Good evening everyone

You can get Chinese one and unlock bootloader to install global MIUI, a waiting time might be there (like 15days), but heard Chinese mi accounts might not need to wait.
As for price, I got mine from Amazon.it for €400, even tho it says €450 but that includes taxes which my country doesn't have, so only paid 400.
So, in light of the proximity sensor problems i have (and a thread exists on the topic) I went to the authorised Xiaomi service (in Malmö, Sweden). To my surprise, the answer I got is that they, as per agreement/authorization, are not allowed to service a non EU phone. And, since my phone is from Hong Kong I should contact my seller. I was literally blown away.
Has anyone else had similar experiences?
The service in Europe does not want to repair phones intended for a market other than the EU.
Perhaps they cannot, they are forbidden.
I've had the same experience with Samsung and apple in Thailand.
The official service center won't work on phones from other countries because too many people used to buy grey imports for less than the official thailand price
to European owners of xiaomi mi 11 ultra (from china). I found out today in service center that despite the same screens, we are not able to repair the device in Europe because parts on our continent are for the European distribution of the phone. We only get screen order from china or repair in china. However, the order from China is risky because we are not sure that the screen is for the Chinese or European market.

This is normal, unfortunately.
Lots of official repair centres won't fix a phone from another continent
