How to bixby? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I'd like to set up a bixby quick command, so that when I say, "Hi Bixby, I'm home," it'll:
turn Bluetooth on
connect to a specific already-paired Bluetooth speaker
play a station from Google Play Music
Is this possible?

In short, yes.

How can I perform step two? (Specify the exact speaker to connect to)

Could you also explain how? lol

Using quick commands. Try and see what is possible
https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00076763/
got curious what can be done and looking on the post below it can start Google Play music on a particular station.
https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...3496-show-us-your-bixby-quick-commands-4.html
So, it can probably connect to a particular bluetooth device if specified

Playing and changing songs without touching the phone?

Hi all.
I use my phone for music in my car, I am wondering of what apps I can use to achieve not having to touch my phone to play, pause and change songs. Something that's voice activated. What can I do to get this ? I was thinking of using tasker to launch the voice app once the cord is plugged in, but how else can I do it to change songs?

[SOLVED] Maps voice guidance

Is anyone else getting a terribly robotic voice from the Maps turn by turn gps? Normally it's the nice smooth voice from Google Now, but since I've been using it on my Note 3 it sounds terrible. Any ideas?

Is this Google Maps navigation, or some other maps app?
The Note 2's settings let you choose between text-to-speech by Google or by Samsung. Does the Note 3 have those options too? Which option are you using?

That's exactly what it was. There is only an option for Samsung and to get the high quality voice you have to download it. I didn't even think of that. Thanks!

Wouldn't it be easier to explain then? I saw that mention of downloading one I would love to know what that is. I searched googleplay and didn't seem to find what I was looking for.
As Gary02468 mentioned, you have to go to the TTS settings in Language and Input. Then click on the settings on the Samsung TTS Engine and then download voice data. I guess in my mind what needed to be done was obvious.

Maybe it is an issue with my phone I go in the to the Samsung text-to-speech engine, go to install data, choose English High Quality, hit play sound exactly like what I want, hit download and nothing happens. It never changes to the high quality voice.

Do you have a Samsung account set up? It downloads the data through the Samsung app store.

I got it to work. I had to go in and reset my app defaults and now it downloaded correctly. Thanks for the directions!
I don't think this is actually solved, at least not what op was asking for. OP was wanting the original Google TTS that is excluded from the phone's firmware for some reason. The fix that you see above was addressing someone else's issue not being able to download the high quality version of samsung's tts engine.
Yea I hope theres a way to add google's tts in the near future as well.

I am the OP and what I really wanted was to get rid of the terrible, robotic sounding voice. The Samsung HD voice works great for me so I changed the title to "SOLVED". If you guys want to make another thread on how to download the Google TTS that's cool, but as far as my issue is concerned, it's fixed.

As a side note, I was just using my GPS and for just one phrase the Google voice was used and then it switched back to the Samsung HD voice. Strange lol.

[Q] Trigger phone apps from watch?

Sorry if this has been asked or answered before. I've googled and searched XDA with no luck. I may just not know the terms to use.
I'm wondering if there's any way to start apps or shortcuts on the phone from the watch? Has anyone been able to do this?

i haven't found a way, but do you mind sharing with us what are you trying to achieve?
I'd like to be able to trigger tasker tasks that control music around the house, trigger playlists, use Google voice search on the phone from the watch etc. I also have lots of contextual triggers set up on my phone that would be interesting to respond to on the watch.

Are you using tasker? You can start phone tasker tasks (which I guess can simply be apps as well) from the watch that way?

You need the plugin Autoremote (full version, not the lite) There's a thread on how to use it. Search for Autoremote.

Camera and sms auto reply questions

Is there a way to switch between front and rear cameras while recording video on MM?
Also, is there a good sms app that does auto reply besides the Verizon Message+ bloatware? I like the Samsung messenger app. I just want that one function.

No idea about 1st but I use Fluenty for second, it works without needing to disable whatever SMS app you use, Textra in my case. Probably not best place to post this if you want a lot of responses
