There will be a flashable mod shortly.
I have already heard someone speaking of it.
With that said, you must know that no matter what you do to the phone it is not possible at this point to get proper carrier aggregation in the USA.
This means that it will work but you will always get slower downloads and sometimes data drops when compared to a USA based SD variant.
We extensively spent months trying to figure this out with the Note 8 and then the S9.
Just giving you a heads up in case that mattered to you.
In case you wanted to test this. Try using any semi recent USA based phone like a N920T or a N950U etc and compare the speeds in the same spot.
You will see what I mean.

Ya I was there with you when I got the Note 8 and then the S9 but....
I also would rather have the full speed and optimized net, especially because I use it for work and other things.
What do you mean "Mod my internet".
To me the addition of "package disabler" made not having root hurt a little less.

I was able to Enable Wi-Fi Tethering on my HTC One M9 ( /system/customize/ACC) and i was able to tether about 20Gb in my car without getting the Internet slow down.

[Q] Samsung galaxy Note N7000 or i717?

Hello all,
I have been in the market for a Samsung galaxy note for a while now. I wanted to get the unlocked version of the phone since I am with T-Mobile. Now as I researched a little more about the phone I came to know there are two different versions which are N-7000 and i-717. Also as i came to find out the N-7000 version does not support T-mobile 4g. Most of my other research also came up with a result that everyone recommend N-7000 version over i-717 because of the processor. I personally like the N-7000 because of the center home button.
I came up with this thread where it flash's the radio of the note and I was being told by one of my friend that this will allow you to be able to use it with t-mobile 4g.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518962
As it says its only for att galaxy note so I am assuming this will not work with the international version of the note or the N-7000 version.
My job requires me to stay on the road most of the time and its really important I have high speed internet on the phone. I am from fort lauderdale, florida.
So my question is-
1. Which version of the phone should I buy?
2. The link posted above will this work with N-7000?
3. Is there any way to work the N-7000 with T-mobile 4g by flashing the radio or anything else?
4. If yes, can any of you please post a step by step instruction on how to make it work. If possible please be elaborate with your steps as I am super dumb when it comes to do hacking and all that.
5. Will the new N-7000 comes with ICS? Does that require any special thing to be done with the phone in order to work with the T-mobile 4g?
I really appreciate all your help in advance. I would be really honored if you guys can respond back as soon as possible.
Thanks
TASVIR
if your job requires fast internet, you should conclude your research and get the i717. The international note won't fit your life style. At this time, it will NOT support tmobile 4g.
Thanks.
But the i717 requires the flashing of the radio and unlocking as well to work with t-mobile 4g? Just like my link on the post mentioned?
you can unlock i717 by buying code online for $25 and about 10mins of time researching and flashing it. It's really easy. I've had i717 for tmobile myself and found out that i dont' need all the time internet. sold it...and got the n7000

So you had i-717 and then you sold it and got the n7000. If you dont mind me asking what made you switch? Is the phone is not worth all this? I am assuming now you are using the n7000 for tmobile's 3g? Hows the speed on that? if the speed is okay would you recommend n7000 over i717 based on the processors of the phones? does your n7000 required any rooting work with tmobile and its internet?
Have you looked around to see if T-Mobile is or will be offering 1900MHz HSDPA+ in your area? The N7000 supports 1900MHz on it's '3G' radio.
I just checked yes they do have 1900MHz in flortlauderdale. FL
Does this means the galaxy note N-7000 will work with t-mobile 3g as soon as I put the sim in the phone?
also
samsung-sgh-i717r-galaxy-note-lte-rogers-wireless from canada and at expansys they are selling it unlocked for 489$
Is this the same as the att galaxy note? with the root will it work with t mobile and its 4g network? I only ask cause this is cheaper than the att version of the note and it is Gnote SGH-i717R instead of Gnote SFH-i717.
This phone is driving me crazier than my ex-girlfriend.
I sold my i717 because I travel a lot oversea and I don't need the LTE feature. I sacrificed that for the better processor and smoothness. Also, I am around wifi most of the time...and I don't use much of internet when I am on the road. Speed wise, it's decent for my use....regular internet, email...and so forth. Not fast...but doable. It fits my life style better. Like I said, you've mentioned that you're on the road a lot that require fast internet access, so I suggested i717. As far as the 1900mhz in your area, don't count on it......you will need to experience it. Call tmobile and find out, or get 1900mhz phone and test it. heck you can even buy the n7000 and try....and if it doesn't work out, sell it and buy the at&t.

Thanks yellowpad. I saw a video on the snapdragon and exynos processor. Bit scary. If with high internet speed does not work because of the processor that would such a shame. I will get the N-7000 and try. I called t-mobile and found out they support 1900 in my area. Its a hit or miss situation. Would you reccomend any site to buy it from? I tried calling expansys for million times as they dont pick up the phone and they say they are #1 in customer satisfaction. LOL
I would just wait a month for the Tmobile version, I believe its coming out the first week of july. unless you dont care about data speeds, then get whatever, but I'd rather wait a few more days and have a fully compatible device in my hands, just my humble input!
As far as i know they have different CPUs and N7000 is supposed to handle hd videos and 3d graphics better. Also, N7000 seems to have better support over here simply because it's more popular.

Thanks for your input. You know I have been researching on that as well from last night. They are saying its coming out on the 11th of July. May be before that or after. Fully compatible with T-mobile network. I would wait for that before I get mine. Only thing that scares me is if it comes with the snapdragon processor. Which is a joke over exynos processor. You can go to youtube and check some of the video's of the differences.
Samsung also said to expect snapdragon processor on all the US bound phones. So at this point i guess we only have to keep our fingers crossed and wait for the best.

Yah the N-7000 comes with exynos processor and i-717 (ATT Version) comes with snapdragon. N-7000 has better processor but low speed data and ATT is high speed data but a very slow and unsophisticated processor (if you compare with the N-7000)... its just up to the customer if they would sacrifices data over processor?? In my case I WANT BOTH...

Does Samsung GT-N7000 (International) work with Tmobile USA 4G?
Hi guys,
So far I have a been reading around and not really find an exact answer.
Let me ask some questions one more time.
1. Can Samsung GT-N7000 (International Version) be flash with Tmobile radio 4G to make it work with Tmobile USA 4G?
2. Anyone using a Working Samsung N7000 flashed Tmobile Radio 4G? If so, which area of USA?
Someone please be kind and advice.
Thanks in advance

Did anyone get LTE to work with T-Mobile so far?

Hello. I've just talked with T-Mobile over one hour trying to make the phone connect to LTE. I've read multiple threads and things about it with very disheartening mixed results. I'm about to pack it and unfortunately send it back to them unless some knight in shining armor can really show me what is going wrong here.
I've tested in multiple ways the speed, the symbol doesn't switch from 4G and the speed barely reaches 10 mb.
Any luck?

I just tested both Nexus 5 that we have in the house and although they seem to connect to LTE, they also have low speed, so I suppose it is a network problem from the company. Let me know in case anyone has anything about it being a consistent problem on the OnePlus 3T though. Thanks.

You probably got the wrong version. Everybody who can't get LTE eventually figures out they got the Chinese or European version NOT the united States version.

Mmm, I've tested on the other phones again. All of them display LTE, none of them are getting top speeds like they usually do and the model seems to be correct. OnePlus 3T still display as 4G and has the same speed in the same network. Might be a T-Mobile problem.

Yeah, it seems like it. To be honest, I rarely check for LTE connection since I spend most of my days in a big zone with Wi-Fi everywhere. It's usually by train and all and since I don't use Netflix and all it might be a common problem and I never realized (but my old phone very rarely switched from LTE to 4G).
I'll call them about it.
Upgrade to OOS 4.1 see if it helps
Im having speed issues with Tmobile and the op3. My s7e and zuk z2 get 20-40mbps download, the op3 gets less than 1, but 9 mbps upload.
All connected on band 4, something is up...
Update OOS. apparently there were issues with T-Mobile and Carrier aggragation going on early in the phone's life. otherwise I have zero issues. That may solve your problem.
I purchased a midnight black and have been using it for about a week now, I flashed Freedom OS and havent had any LTE issues on T-Mobile
I'm on T-Mobile, model A3000, and mine is displaying the LTE logo and getting great speeds (40mb/s +). Is there anything I can check in my settings that would help you troubleshoot?
I'm with T-Mobile and I have no problems with my OnePlus 3T.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Like others have said, update your OxygenOS first, there have been carrier improvements since the version you're on. My 3T has had zero issues w/ T-Mobile. I get VoLTE and VoWiFi w/ no issues, along with respective LTE speeds.

Exynos Galaxy Note 8 on AT&T

This time around, I will most likely be getting the Exynos version of the Galaxy Note 8. There are 2 versions that I am looking at specifically:
SM-N950F
SM-N950N
I've seen a few threads on here where people are trying to get them to work with AT&T, but never asked outright, so I am making this thread in hopes that it could possibly serve as a reference point for everyone:
Has anyone gotten the Exynos, international version of the Galaxy Note 8 working with AT&T, and get full LTE, VoLTE, Wifi calling, etc.?
If so, which Exynos model is it, and how did you get AT&T working?
Thank you so much!
I was using a UK Exynos S8+ on AT&T. You'll get none of AT&T's advanced features. Also, and I didn't realize it until I got the unlocked Note8, LTE speeds are slower with the Exynos radio. If you use Samsung Pay be careful which CSC you buy. Not all of them support U.S. use of Samsung Pay.

How much slower are the LTE speeds we are talking? I can understand if it's slightly slower, but if it's much slower, then no-go.
Honestly, I use AT&T Prepaid, and it already doesn't have things by default such as VoLTE and Wifi calling (I think), so as long as I get stable and relatively fast LTE, it won't matter much.
I just purchased a SM-N950N 256gb I plan on using it on ATT I really do hope LTE works on it as I returned my note 8 snapdragon to get the exynos variant.

That's good; if you could please update this thread with your direct experiences, I could then update the OP if it will work definitively or not. I already read in another thread that it works perfectly with T-mobile, so I can't see why not with AT&T.
UK N950F (XEU Single Sim) on ATT and it's working fine for me... LTE works, VoLTE works and HD Voice works (although i'm not sure if i can initiate a HD call. when i see the HD icon, i assume it's someone calling me via Wifi calling). i'm in some fringe areas, but i still get avg DL speeds of 35-40 mb/s. upload is consistently in the 20 mb/s range which is fine for my needs. @BarryH_GEG, what are your average speeds with the ATT Note 8? thanks.

I've tried a few that are out there and they all caused simple things like call forwarding not to work.

modem/radio flashing?

Hey all,
I just got the 6gb version in today, but I cant connect to my network.
I was under the assumption that the Alpha would be supported by my carrier (Telus in Canada) but no go.
Now, I know the P25 can support the required bands , but is there a way to enable them? either by modding the radio/modem firmware or by software ?any help would be much appreciated.
Anyone? any help/ advice would be great.
Hi mistamikel!
Did you try the other sim slot? Had problems with Vodafone DE in the 1st slot.
If this isn't working you can check the available bands with MTK Engineering Mode

I’m in Canada and the band support is not present (3g and LTE) now I’m almost 100% sure the P25 supports th required bands, Maze just has then locked due to region and licensing.
I’d like to find out if I could mod the radio firmware or nvram partitions to enable them.
Anyone have any advice or can help me out ?

You must be in a place where Rogers uses band 7 (lte) So at least you can use your device. Rogers runs on the old 2g for voice and text and in some places Band 7 (lte) which is why you're getting LTE.
I think all hope is lost as this place has become a shell of what it once was.,truly disappointing for long time members like myself.
You got that right this forum is going down hill. As for you phone speak to GearBest if you tell them you want a refund because the phone does not work in Canada they will offer you at least $40/$50 US back and you can keep the phone or sell it or just return it to GearBest for a full refund
I took the option for $50 and I got to keep the phone

I finally received mine today and it is a good-looking smartphone. However, I am sorry to hear about your case. Let's hope somebody will find a way around this issue - if Maze Alpha is not releasing any custom ROM (which might provide possibility of modding the OS for additional feature to be enabled)..

Maze Alpha is a nice smartphone. Not going to use it as a daily driver because of the lack of case for it. Until I am able to customize a case for it I am going to always leave it at home.
Good to know you always have a way to get your money back. I have been looking at buying iPhone X(10) - not until the price has fallen down dramatically I am not going to dish out such huge amount for a phone with some facial recognition issue.
I am receiving 3G on a 4G LTE network.
Hey man!
My package hasn't arrived yet but tell me something that this issue was there before flashing or it occurs after flashing ? if it occurred after flashing i think i can help

USA Watch 3 and Canadian Note 20U

I am going to get a US watch 3 in order to get the extra health functions e.g. BP etc that aren't yet on the Canadian watch 3. I have a Canadian Note 20U.
Will I be able to get the US features on the watch? My concern is the Canadian Samsung heath app will block the US features...or will those features be downloaded direct to the US watch?
Thank you.
Hi don't worry the Canadian Samsung health app will not block US functions, it will always allow you to work properly
So the Samsung health app on the phone will show the US functions even though not released in Canada?

Yes. You could also make your life easier and order a Canadian Watch 3 and just change the region to USA now that it's possible to do so.
I suppose that's true but there is a fair bit of effort to change the CRC from what I understand and frankly I'd be scared I would mess it up.
Wouldn't I also have to change the region on the Note 20 to download the samsung health app that would display the monitored items from the watch? Its seems to me that the phone app would also be region specific.

It's really not that hard. Takes about an hour total, most of it just letting the files load. Watch the youtube video. There's a nice little package to download with everything you need and you just follow the steps.

You'd think, but no. My Samsung Health app displays the blood oxygen and stress and I'm Canadian.
So you are just missing the ekg and BP?
I was also wanting to get the LTE version which hasn't been released here.
I see now its not that difficult but honestly it shouldn't be this difficult and lack features for a $600 + tax watch. Looks almost like a pass until the government allows the features to work.

Correct. Couldn't get the ECG and BP to load using the PC method or the phone method. Although others have said if you have a Samsung phone then it loads fine using the phone method.
You nailed the reason why it's lacking the features. Our government hasn't approved them yet, so until they do the features won't be released in Canada. I deal with chemicals regularly and have seen the process take years to get a chemical approved for use in Canada, and I can imagine getting devices approved as "medical devices" must be even worse.
It is true Health Canada is slow at everything and often rely on the US FDA at the end of the day anyways.
Absent those important features I'm inclined to just wait. I don't use the fitness tools so the watch is essentially a clock with notifications. I have those on my phone that is always beside me so not sure why I would need the same notifications on my wrist. Its a nice gadget but doesn't seem to have utility in my use case.
Best link/tutorial to change region to USA ?
Got a great deal on the US LTE version which isn't in Canada yet and has the upgraded features and future features as released stateside. Sure I could have loaded them on a Canadian BT version but this is better. The downside would be having to deal with warranty so hoping the watch is sturdy.

You get the watch with red accent button... congratulations
Ok got the US LTE version and because its foreign neither telus or bell will allow the watch to run on their network. What a total waste of time and effort.

If you change the CSC to Canada?
Thank you for helping. My concern is that if I do that then I may or will lose the US variant health features. Is there an easy way to change the csc without all the steps in the YouTube videos? I'm inexperienced and don't want to brick it or be unable to get back to the US version if the LTE still doesn't work.
Doesn't appear that the files are available for the Canadian device so can't change the reason.
