hi
i've been installing software on my fone since i got it about 5 days ago. everything i installed went on the INTERNAL STORAGE , nothing on the fone's memory. when i first stared using the fone , it had about 50% free resources (top right corner icon press). now , after 5 days of usage , it won't drop below 75% even if i use clean RAM or SKT - Tools cleanup utilities. i am currently using the default rom & spl , as i want to keep my warranty.
any advices on what ELSE i can do to free-up memory ?
currently i will restart my diamond every 2 days so it will free the memory till 50%..lol
any other idea?

Hi there
I got my Z1 last friday.
I played with it with a prepaid sim (new provider testing ) up until monday's night (had my nexus 4 coming along still).
I quickly updated to the newest firmware and then learned that it can't be (easily) rooted (but that is another story).
I had it with a manually set wakelock and constantly pinging google the whole monday, and battery rocked like a beast, temperature and cpu were fine.
When i got back home, i formated an old sdcard (not that old really, it's a 16gb class10 card i got from UK), dropped my 4.6gb of music, titanium backup folder (hey, i hope root comes eventually ) and my helium backup folder (somehow my nexus 4 with 4.3 made folders instead of individual files and helium on the z1 does not pick them up...)
I left my phone, that had 12 hours of NOT deepsleeping, pluged into my pc's usb for charging (SD Card inside too).
Today i noticed that it had charged almost.. nothing
Then on my trip, with it using the postpaid sim card, with my current plan, and different provider, i noticed it was kinda hot, and battery was draining rapidly.
I downloaded "OS Monitor" and saw a process taking up 30% of cpu time/power. "memory", was the process.
I rebooted, and same thing, but this time "DRM Protected content storage".
Another reboot, and same thing, with "downloads".
Most of the time when i open OS Monitor it displays the package name (it includes "media" in it), and then turns to one of the others i mentioned.
CPU Spy plus says my cpu stays at 2100 or so mhz.
I am not sure what to do now
I left it off and charing.
I failed to mention that i had installed dropbox, box, press, pocketcasts and maybe some other app that i am forgetting, that i did not have the initial monday.
Now i turned it on again and the process killing me is:
Download Manager
Process: android.process.media
Status: sleep
Cpu spy plus: 50% 2150, and a little on 2 lower (but not 300 or deepsleep).
Phone is hot, usb connected, and i am not sure if keeping charge or dropping.
Will try removing the sd
Removing SD Card did nothing.
Just noticed that in the running apps, under "media" i have 1 process and 2 services.
The process i also named Media and it is using a wooping 600MB
DeviceStorageService and MediaScannerService are running.
---
Now that i remember, i had the SD Card with music and titanium backup in my phone from day one (i even listened to music in my car using Bluetooth).
What changed was that i tried copying the Carbon folder, and it dissapeared after restarting, twice. Then i tried on PC, same stuff.
I fully formated my SD card and added all the files again, this time it remained there.
ps: i have windows 8.1 at home
I just noticed that i now have way less free space on my internal storage, and there is an app called "media storage" that is using 2.63 GB
And if i am not crazy, it is slowly going up.
I Think something got terribly borked here
EDIT: ok, thought i was crazy, cause when i started typing this i thought it said 2.53gb. But i was not, by the time i finished writing it was on 2.9 gb!!
EDIT2: i wiped data on that and now everything MIGHT be ok
I now rebooted and that "app" is using 2.69MB (not gb this time) and in the processes tab, only 9mb (not 600).
No overheating or hi cpu usage.
Dunno what might have triggered this, nor know what this "app" is for.
Seriously, factory reset that phone. Some software malfunction going on. Also, backup that sd card to your computer and wipe it.
Start from scratch basically

Ya, i will most surelly do that and install that deodexed rooted rom that's the latest version...
I want root, and want to be up to date
SD Card is fine now, fully formated (not quick).
Everything worked fine after wiping that "apps's" data.
Now i noticed that i CANT DELETE files from my sdcard from my phone...
And i no longer haver another one to test
Out to get a new one before wiping the hell out of my phonE ?
my phone xperia sp has 2 gb of storage available then also at the time of installing app it shows insufficient storage. i just uninsatlled two 350 mb games then also it is showing the same.
Hello and sorry if this question has been asked before. Couldn't find one that matches.
The thing is last night, around 00:00 am I went to bed and my phone was fully charged (probably not full but 90% at least, I'd left it charging the entire evening up to 23:00 pm). Then at around 5:00 am I woke up and noticed the phone had less than 15% battery left and, what worries me, a Filesystem almost full notification.
I charged the phone until 8:00 am and the battery behavior has been normal for the entire day. However the storage full notification is still there (tried rebooting but couldn't get it to go). The thing is I don't have that many apps installed and I don't download many things into the phone. Only WhatsApp's videos and images. That was the first place I looked into, but its Media folder was less than 200 MB, which shouldn't hog the entire internal storage (5.5 GB reported by Android).
Perhaps (probably actually), I'm being too paranoid, but I think something of great size may have been downloaded last night which drained the battery. Is there any easy way to list the folders by size? I've tried dozen of apps that claim to do this, but always summing the sizes of the folders was way less than the filesystem capacity. I tried to do it mounting the device in my Debian machine but couldn't manage to do it at the time, but with some assist, I think that last way could be the way to go.
- Has anyone experienced the combination of battery drain + full storage without any other notification?
- Can someone help me in tracking internal storage usage?
My Moto G (2014) is unrooted and running official Marshmallow from Motorola.
In any case, thank you for your time if you've read until here.
Cheers,
I still haven't figured out why the battery drain. The storage problem was Messenger App (stupid Facebook). It was using 1.9 GB. Android (stupid Google LOL) was reporting 70MB (didn't have any photos or videos, as Messenger for this just sucks). Don't know why it the storage demands increased abruptly, but anyway, the symptoms seem over.
Anyway I'm starting using DISA for Facebook messaging service. I think Facebook Apps are a complete piece of utter and unoptimized crap, and noticed just yesterday of project DISA.
I'm new to rooting and last night I reflashed my phone with MOAR 1.3 and after I did. Something bizarre happened. I cannot see half of mine phones storage. The properties show that the phone is almost full with 6 gigs free space. But when I use a disk usage analyzer it shows my total space is 37 gigs and it's not. I have 64 gigs. I've tried all I can think of to see that other half of data and now I'm going to reflash again and hope I get it back. Anyone have any ideas?
