help - running low on system resources - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

hi
i've been installing software on my fone since i got it about 5 days ago. everything i installed went on the INTERNAL STORAGE , nothing on the fone's memory. when i first stared using the fone , it had about 50% free resources (top right corner icon press). now , after 5 days of usage , it won't drop below 75% even if i use clean RAM or SKT - Tools cleanup utilities. i am currently using the default rom & spl , as i want to keep my warranty.
any advices on what ELSE i can do to free-up memory ?

currently i will restart my diamond every 2 days so it will free the memory till 50%..lol
any other idea?

Diamond RAM Usage Percentage

Hi,
My Diamond RAM usage is normally if i just did a soft reset 53%> and if i used it and turn off the screen 60% or higher...
Is this normal because i see movies on youtube where some guy has 32% usage of the RAM...
If anyone is going to recommend me to get rid of the default ROM and get myself another one, i need one that is very clos tot the stock its ROM and i'd like to have it Dutch...
i'm using the diamond from telus mobility, my ram usage on boot hovers @ 30%... with multiple programs running, itll be like 40-43%
I saw that video too I can't believe it's so low, even with the fastest cleanest rom at best it would be ~45%. I wonder if it has anything to do with CDMA vs. GSM?

Are you sure he use a diamond ? and not a touch pro ? I think the pro have more RAM, I'm wrong ?
im running right now @ 35%... how is that so impossible? lol do u guys not believe me?
Mine is more about 70%...
mine is always about 60%...when I launch a program it's about 80%
Are you using touchflow3d MightyMike? That takes a lot!
I'm running latest official ROM and the usage hardly goes over 70% ever.
At startup its ranges from 49~53%. (including gsen and some battery meter in the startup)
It seems OK to me^^.
I'd be more concerned about the RAM storage space, which is a serious issue to me!
cheers
mine @ boot = 53 and then creeps up slowly, and also creeps up after using apps (still memory leaks? )
Thats strange im using the latest stock-ROM too, well i hope htc will bring a new update and takes the RAM usage down because hovering @ 60% or higher is just too much if you want to run a program..

Using TF3D?
My ram usage is about 53% on boot with tf3d and s2u2 running.
Try to disable phone dialer skin...ram usage is 45% at startup!!!!
Just tried without the dialer : 62% at boot with T3FD. In fact i was about at 70% with the dialer...
But i don't see how to reach 45% !!!!!!! seems impossible to me ! perhaps desactivating the 3G ?
Ciao
Fred
46% at boot with smartblock running at startup. touchFlo 3d is running too. Panosha ROM. Not bad
Yes guys, i am running TF3D... put it this way i have a lot of tweaks, BUT
i've hardresetted many times, and at STOCK rom base apps, no tweaks, i boot @ 30% memory usage right now i'm @ 37% with palringo, and msn running
someone give me a small program to take screenshots, and i'll take one for you guys!
This is my memory usage upon soft reset
---------------------------------------
I possibly think its a difference in ram between the gsm vs cdma model... sorry guys!

[Q] How often do you need to soft reset HTC Pure?

I have searched "soft reset" but couldn't find anything related. I am using the Official HTC Diamond 2 ROM (2.16.405.4 (67041) WWE, Radio 4.49.25.17) on HTC Pure, which was bought about three weeks ago. I need to soft reset it after using it for 4-5 days when the memory useage reaches about 74% or so, or I couldn't turn it on (the power switch dosn't respond). Is this normal for HTC Pure?
Before the memory usage reaches 74% or so, I noted that sometimes the memory was "released" and returned back to 67% or so, which is nice. But the "lock up" (can't be turned on without a soft reset) eventually hits as the memory reaches 74% again. Thank you in advance for advice
I had the same problem when I first bought my Pure. I'd have to take out the battery to reset the phone if I left it on for more than a few days straight. That was until I downloaded a great little app called "cleanRAM" that frees up memory. It's totally customizable and you can even set it to run on a schedule. I set it up to run at the highest level every day at 3AM, and when I notice the phone getting sluggish I just run it manually. It takes all of 30 seconds to complete and frees up tons of memory.
Thanks much, eldavar. CleanRAM did a good job in relaxing RAMS; indeed, but it also wiped out the GPS data. Even after a number of soft resets and downloads of QuickGPS for the fresh data, I still couldn't get the satellites to be locked upon for GPS. I used level 1 (the default) in CleanRAM. I tried for almost an hour.
I did a hard reset to recover the manufacturer's setting to bring back the GPS. One should be careful in cleaning RAMS don't you think. There are RAMS cleaners that do not affect the GPS as much, but the overall response of the phone may become slow.

That's unusual. I use the GPS quite a bit with my phone, lots of different apps (like GPSed, Glympse, foursquare, Google Maps, etc.). I've never had a problem getting the satelite lock after running the cleanRAM program. I wouldn't know what to tell you about that because it's not an issue I've experienced.

[Q] One year old N7000- how I know the device working well?

I bought an 1 year old Note a couple of days back from a seller. He gave me 5 days of time to test it, and If in any case I get dissatisfied, he will refund full/exchange it. But IMO I feel 5 days are not enough to test ROMS and battery to judge the performance of the device, hence I request all experts here to guide me through the way so that I can understand the quality of the device. Let me tell you about the device a bit.
it was stock ICS indian version which was preinstalled. I upgraded it to JB with philz kernel and its running quite good. Though i cud not manage to make connectify work with the device. Someone told me that I flashed wrongly.
Charged it full last night. Charging took almost 4 hours (from almost 0 level) to get fully charged. After that played around with it for 1 odd hour (like installing apps n all). around 3 o'clock i went to sleep and right now (10 am) @ 86% battery. I am on ddlsc as i said earlier.
Guys please help me to understand if i have got a good device or not.
otherwise i will exchange it a new one. Thank you and highest regards to all.
Switched on 2G on the device 1 hours back.. @ 80% now.
After 2 hours of 2G on, battery @ 60%.
12h 53m 10s on battery .. 59% discharging..
Anyone please
*#0*# = to check for screen burn ins and other issues ..there will be a little burn in at the top due to the status bar, that's normal.
do an spen caliberation to see if there are any defects
Check if the battery is bloated , I don't think yours is though from reading your post. maybe the battery was replaced . but the battery normaly lasts only 12 to 14 months anyways .
Check if u have 11gb of usb storage

Thank you.. i have just conducted the test u mentioned and looks like its all ok as of now. Spen test was good too. right now m @ 29% battery after 16h 9m with 2g on for 10+ hours. the battery is not bloated and the date printed on it as july 2012. yes memory showing 11.08gb. but i am facing restarts sometimes..had it 2-3 times from yesterday.
your battery is pretty healthy ..I get only 4 to 5 hours of continous usage with 3g on and sync enabled..that's normal ..
your standby time is decent . no worries there .
I don't know about the restarts . it has happened to me too but not anymore . maybe somethings wrong with your rom or maybe it's an app .
try a fresh clean install of stock jellybean . maybe u did a dirty flash and that's causing the restarts , I'm not sure.
I have tried to turn my laptop into a hotspot when I was on gingerbread and it never worked . so I am not really sure connectify will work
but this is what I found on the connectify support page
First of all, you should have windows 7 or higher installed on your system. Along with this, you should be having the latest version of Connectify Pro.
Go to Network and Sharing Center and on the left hand side, click on Change Adapter Settings
Now, right-click on the connection you want to share and go to 'Properties'
Go on the sharing tab in the properties window and check the 'Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection' and in the drop down list of 'Home Networking Connection' (right below it) choose Wireless Internet Connection.
Start Connectify Pro and put in an appropriate Hotspot Name and Password.
Click on the Internet Connection you want to share. This should be the one whose properties you just changed.
In the advanced setting panel, the 'Share Over' option should be set to 'Wi-fi' and the 'Sharing Mode' should be set to 'Wi-Fi Access Point, Encrypted (WPA2)'
In the firewall settings make sure to check 'Allow Internet Access'. 'Allow Local Network Access' is up to you wish for checking or unchecking.
Start the Hotspot. If everything is correct, the Hotspot name should be come visible in your phone's Wi-Fi scanner.
Make sure that your phone is configured to use Wi-Fi for Internet Connection.
............
guys, all of you are facing this problem because you antivirus' firewall is preventing this connection.so if you are using any antivirus , disable the firewall when you need to use connectify . hope this helped you

Thank you so much for the reply. it 22% now after 18h with 2g .. but had only one voice call today. for the freezes .. i was going through some posts .. and found it can be a result of wipe data after installing ics.. if i can remember i did the same before i upgraded to JB. should i try to go back to GB first and then to stock JB and then wipe data n all?
hmmmm...yeah .a clean flash would probably solve your freeze issues. .. good luck
ps- did u manage to ger connectify working ?

I went back to Gb and then flashed JB and then safe kernel .. wiped all and till now looks like its fine.. no i cud nt make connectify working till now .. though i did not get the time to install the pro version and try it.. will try today .. and will provide the feedback..
if for some reason you cant get connectify to work , there are apps for reverse tethering by which you could share your laptops internet via usb cable . your mobility will be severely limited but its still an option.
After flashing a new rom it takes cca. 3 full battery charges to achieve a full battery life.

CPU stays @high freq - Phone heats up - Battery plummets

Hi there
I got my Z1 last friday.
I played with it with a prepaid sim (new provider testing ) up until monday's night (had my nexus 4 coming along still).
I quickly updated to the newest firmware and then learned that it can't be (easily) rooted (but that is another story).
I had it with a manually set wakelock and constantly pinging google the whole monday, and battery rocked like a beast, temperature and cpu were fine.
When i got back home, i formated an old sdcard (not that old really, it's a 16gb class10 card i got from UK), dropped my 4.6gb of music, titanium backup folder (hey, i hope root comes eventually ) and my helium backup folder (somehow my nexus 4 with 4.3 made folders instead of individual files and helium on the z1 does not pick them up...)
I left my phone, that had 12 hours of NOT deepsleeping, pluged into my pc's usb for charging (SD Card inside too).
Today i noticed that it had charged almost.. nothing
Then on my trip, with it using the postpaid sim card, with my current plan, and different provider, i noticed it was kinda hot, and battery was draining rapidly.
I downloaded "OS Monitor" and saw a process taking up 30% of cpu time/power. "memory", was the process.
I rebooted, and same thing, but this time "DRM Protected content storage".
Another reboot, and same thing, with "downloads".
Most of the time when i open OS Monitor it displays the package name (it includes "media" in it), and then turns to one of the others i mentioned.
CPU Spy plus says my cpu stays at 2100 or so mhz.
I am not sure what to do now
I left it off and charing.
I failed to mention that i had installed dropbox, box, press, pocketcasts and maybe some other app that i am forgetting, that i did not have the initial monday.
Now i turned it on again and the process killing me is:
Download Manager
Process: android.process.media
Status: sleep
Cpu spy plus: 50% 2150, and a little on 2 lower (but not 300 or deepsleep).
Phone is hot, usb connected, and i am not sure if keeping charge or dropping.
Will try removing the sd
Removing SD Card did nothing.
Just noticed that in the running apps, under "media" i have 1 process and 2 services.
The process i also named Media and it is using a wooping 600MB
DeviceStorageService and MediaScannerService are running.
---
Now that i remember, i had the SD Card with music and titanium backup in my phone from day one (i even listened to music in my car using Bluetooth).
What changed was that i tried copying the Carbon folder, and it dissapeared after restarting, twice. Then i tried on PC, same stuff.
I fully formated my SD card and added all the files again, this time it remained there.
ps: i have windows 8.1 at home
I just noticed that i now have way less free space on my internal storage, and there is an app called "media storage" that is using 2.63 GB
And if i am not crazy, it is slowly going up.
I Think something got terribly borked here
EDIT: ok, thought i was crazy, cause when i started typing this i thought it said 2.53gb. But i was not, by the time i finished writing it was on 2.9 gb!!
EDIT2: i wiped data on that and now everything MIGHT be ok
I now rebooted and that "app" is using 2.69MB (not gb this time) and in the processes tab, only 9mb (not 600).
No overheating or hi cpu usage.
Dunno what might have triggered this, nor know what this "app" is for.
Seriously, factory reset that phone. Some software malfunction going on. Also, backup that sd card to your computer and wipe it.
Start from scratch basically

Ya, i will most surelly do that and install that deodexed rooted rom that's the latest version...
I want root, and want to be up to date
SD Card is fine now, fully formated (not quick).
Everything worked fine after wiping that "apps's" data.
Now i noticed that i CANT DELETE files from my sdcard from my phone...
And i no longer haver another one to test
Out to get a new one before wiping the hell out of my phonE ?
