Overactive battery optimization - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

I am not sure if this problem is specific to the p20p or if it's Oreo related but the intense battery saving keeps killing my music player service while I am connected to Bluetooth headset and music is paused. It means I can't use the headset buttons to continue playing. I have changed the battery optimization to manual and told it to ignore the app but it still keeps killing the service. Has anyone else had a problem like this or does anyone have a solution?

Music playback pauses for no reason

Whenever listening to music with the stock player the music pauses for no reason after a while. Doesn't seem to have a pattern, it has nothing to do with notifications or anything else that I can recognize. This has happened with plugged in earbuds and with a bluetooth headset so I'm guessing it's not the jack's fault.
I searched around but found nothing specific to this device, is anyone else having an issue like this? I haven't really tried using other music players, although I think it happened once with Winamp too.
On a side note, is there anyway to make a bluetooth headset control playback for programs other than the stock player? For example if I'm using Winamp and I press Next on the bluetooth headset, Winamp will pause and the stock player will start playing, really annoying. I wouldn't mind using the stock player if it worked correctly.
Not being very useful, but i have exact the same issue

have you flipped your phone over?
Did you set your CPU speed too low?

I have the turn over motion disabled but I did activate the CPU Power Saving option. Do you think that could be the reason?
It could be since sometime when i set the CPU below 500 mega hertz the music stops occasionally when the screen is off. Just try to set above 500.

Well I disabled CPU power saving and I'm trying a different music player. Haven't experienced any weird pauses. Hopefully that was the problem.

Speaker playback i.e youtube and notifications issue

evening all i have found two strange issues that i haven't resolved through the usually settings checks and tinkering, both issues are related to notifications and i think they are one in the same. when watching YouTube videos if a notification comes in during the video (in full screen mode) the video volume drops as expected for a split second so you know you have a notification however the sound never returns the the same level it remains very quiet? even when turning the volume up and down and back up again its still reduced somehow? if you exit YouTube and go back in to a video it works as normal at normal volume levels until another notification comes in. this is very frustrating and i am not sure how to stop this?
has anyone got any suggestions?
secondly i think this is related to the above but when listening to music (both via earphone or loudspeaker) when a notification comes in it stops the music and does not reestablish it? i am using poweramp as my music app and the only way to start the music again is to unlock phone and start the app? (not good when driving).
again both would seem to be related but i can not find a way to stop the above? if anyone can shed any light please let me know whilst i continue searching, thanks in advance.

[Bug] App sounds stop when intrrupted by a notification.

Hey guys, first time poster here.
Got my P9 the other day, very impressed compared to my old LG G3.
Recently I've noticed however, when running a game, such as "Pokemon Go" or "Fallout Shelter", it runs completely fine and smoothly full sound, etc. up until it's interrupted by a notification by another app.
I.E:
>Playing "Fallout Shelter".
>Get a pop-up notification from Facebook/whatsapp.
>Sound from app running stops and won't start again.
>Try backgrounding "Fallout Shelter" and coming back to it, still no sounds.
>Force stop/quit "Fallout shelter"
>Open/run "Fallout Shelter" again, sounds are working again.
>Get a pop-up notification from Facebook/whatsapp.
>Sound from app running stops and won't start again.
>Repeat.
Not so much a life changing issue, but really rather annoying. I'm assuming this is a software bug, as I've had no issue with this on any of my other devices. Is anyone else having the same issue?
If so, does anyone have any solutions?
Kind regards,
Jake
Same here, sadly I have not found a solution jet

Yep same issue here. Get a text message while playing Pokemon Go and poof, no more music or app sounds until it is quit and re-opened again. Wish these bugs were addressed as they're pretty blatant and annoying.
What about Piano Tiles 2? Sound is totally muffled and of low quality. Anyone experiencing the same problem? It's like Huawei p9 can't play two audios at the same time.
Nothing was fixed so far, right?
Okay guys, I found a small work-around. It is not really convenient but it could solve the issue for you:
There is an app called Volume Control: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=netroken.android.persistfree
and in the app you have the chance to lock certain volumes, like that of notifications, alarms, ringer AND media!
Media was the important one. So it will play your music or apps on the same volume level even if notifications come in. That is not the best solution as you might miss notifications and calls might sound strange with both volumes on max. Anyway, maybe that helps...

Resuming music with bluetooth playback controls not working

My P20 Pro works fine with all bluetooth playback controls, except for "Play". So whenever I pause the music with my headset or in the car, I have to go on the phone to press play again. I thought that it was some power saving feature or some such, but it turns out that pressing "Next track" works perfectly, so it's only the "play" command that it ignores.
However, if I wait too long with pressing next track ("too long" being perhaps one minute) instead of resuming in the app currently in use, it will play from the stock Music app, even though I have never opened it. I also changed the "default music app" to Google Play Music, but this is completely ignored.
Happens with all apps and all bluetooth devices.
Anyone else experience the same issues? Any way to fix this? It's driving my nuts.
Same issue here, all my Bluetooth earphone control not working with poweramp

Mine works well with shuttle+(pro/paid version). My only issue is the extremely low volume level and the lack of eq(shuttle+ has built in eq, but the volume is still ****ty low)
Same issue with Spotify.

I've no issue with my Spotify and Bluetooth headphones. Mines not a headset , where the mic is included in case that makes a difference. Also is apx compatible

I have the exact same problem, for example with Audible. Think it's the AI trying to conserve battery. Hope it'll learn soon to leave it alone.
Same problem here on the Huawei P20 with both LG and Bose Bluetooth headphones.

Bluetooth car metadata issue

Hey,
I have an issue with my P30 pro that when I connect it to my car via Bluetooth, no music metadata is displayed and I can't use steering wheel controls. Weirdly if I restart the phone the next time I connect it works fine! I've come from a Galaxy S8 where I never had any issues. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any suggestions?!
Thanks!
Ps, the normal phonecall functions work and I can play music over bluetooth, but the actual track info etc isn't displayed.
Have you tried disabling energy saver for your music app? Maybe EMUI is just closing/stopping it from getting startet.
Also had a few problems with android auto and spotify without disabling battery saver for spotify
Yeah, I've tried changing battery saver settings and it doesn't make any difference. I think it must be related to EMUI or Pie but can't work out what. Weird that after a phone restart it works, though. Something must change after it first connects
I experience the same - sometimes. It's been hard to track down what causes it.
Mine is working fine (for different apps), have you tried both battery saver options? there are two menu points for that, donĀ“t know why huawei thinks this is useful at two different places in the settings
works without any problems, including steering wheel controls in my car (spotify, google music, poweramp)
this is probably caused by some application or process... next time try the Optimizer app from Huawei before restart the phone
Same problem
I have the same problem. It happens more often when I start spotify by voice with "ok google, open spotify"
