Hello all, i unlocked the bootloader on the xiaomi mi A2 , and i was trying to follow this guide :https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/tutorial-camera2api-gcam-root-t3842475 to install the gmcam, but after the point 5. i just rebooted the phone from the recovery, just cause i wanted to try it, after that is stucked in android 8.1 animation, but i have access to the recovery (even if the tool shouldnt have installed it), but dunno what can i do from the recovery, and the device can go in fastboot mode but is not recognized by adb, what can i do?
What version of software was your Mi A2, if it was V9.6.13.0.ODIMIFE, then download the full stock ROM from here
http://en.miui.com/download-353.html
In fastboot mode, adb is not working, fastboot commands works there.
Extract boot.img from images of downloaded ROM.
Put the boot.img in adb folder.
fastboot flash boot_a boot.img
fastboot flash boot_b boot.img
fastboot reboot
it should start normally
If not, then flash every image like in this post.

Thanks for the help, but, I don't know why, ADB driver were not working properly, didnt recognize the phone so I couldnt follow this guide, and i couldnt switch off the phone either, it was stuck in bootloop, the only thing I was able to do is to put the device in fastboot mode using the button combination..
Luckly the Mi Flash tool was able to recognize the device so I flashed the stock rom with that and now everything is back to normal, I've just a question, the phone sais that the bootloader is still unlocked, is that true? Even if I've flashed from zero the stock rom?

Yep, it's true. You have to relock the bootloader, but this cause full wipe. IMO there's no need to relock the bootloader if you not enable the usb dev mode.
Also, theres an option in mi flash tool to lock the bootloader after flash. Something like flash_all_lock
DO NOT use flash_all_lock_crc. This will cause dead wifi and Bluetooth modem.
I am stuck on the exact same issue. Can you explain in detail all the steps you followed.
Mine was updated to September patch and it is Indian variant.

Nvm I was able to flash that rom but now after the phone locks once the touch is gone until I reboot the device.
Are there any hardware differences in my indian variant or did I just flash it wrong?
I used flash_all.bat and clean all option.

I used the same option, cause it didnt work with the other ones.. I didnt have any issue so far tho, and I dont know about hardware differences, but I dont think a bad flash can cause this kind of problem, not sure tho. Maybe now that everything is working try to flash again a stock rom.

Hello people
i'm aware that there are guides out there, but i'm honestly not the best at all this flashing stuff, i have done it to a few phones but this one needs to be done just right!
So, where should i begin?, i reckon i should start with unlocking the phone via the unlock tool (i am registered and accepted) and then flash TWRP via that tool?
or is the best/only way of flashing TWRP with the ADB fastboot?

my problem now is i have no idea how to get miui 7 on it. Iknow that all CM based roms will end in a bootloop if i try to flash with that on.
i have tried a number of things, last time i tried i ended up with it not detecting my sim card, so i had to revert back to Miui 8

Your thread is getting slightly confusing so let's do it step by step.
Is your phone currently unlocked?
To check, put it into fastboot mode manually without adb:
Turn off your device. Then turn on your device again while holding volume down button.
Plug in your device. Use fastboot:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
Post screenshots.
Reboot your phone. Post a screenshot of your "About phone" settings menu.

I also tried this way.But not miflash tool. I use twrp to flash global stable rom, boot up the rom and flash twrp through fastboot. And then you can flash your favourite rom.
Hi,
sorry to hijack this thread, but i also have problem flashing TWRP.
I have unlocked phone.
I have USB debugging enabled.
I can reboot to fastboot via adb.
I ca flash twrp (twrp-3.0.2-1-gemini.img 25.2M 2016-07-19 18:48:36 EDT).
But when i go to recovery i still see Mi PcSuite thing. No twrp.
What am i doing wrong? IS there some other, more appropriate twrp image?

I got mine sorted out, what you are missing is when you are done flashinh you have to type "Fastboot reboot" and then set TWRP to default recovery
hope that helps you out
Same problem for me, when i type "Fastboot reboot", my Mi5 reboot quickly and after when i go to recovery i see also Mi PC Suite....
Do you have a workaround ?
Second question, is it normal that time to send TWRP.img to phone in ADB is only 0,9s ?

Hi all
Unfortunately, I'm having serious problems with my new Mi8, which arrived yesterday. It arrived with Global ROM and opened Bootloader.
Switch On, set up, data from the Mi6 pulled by NFC, all tutti. the Mi account I have connected here too.
Then I wanted to play the xiaomi.eu. TWRP installed via "Minimal adb and fastboot", installed via TWRP then the xiaomi.eu-ROM (newest). Has also worked. When setting up the point that I can play back via NFC what was not displayed, or I have overlooked him. Okay, again from the beginning, I thought. Have then reset the phone to factory settings to repeat the device.
Then the phone stuck in the bootloop. Again and again the Mi logo appeared and "unlocked", disappeared and came back, disappeared and came back. I did not get into the TWRP anymore, just into the fastboot.
On advice of different users on FB and another forum I should flash the Global ROM again over the MiFlash tool, which I did then also. Unfortunately I carelessly chose "Flash-and-Lock" and closed the boot loader. Unfortunately, this flash did not work and the phone now only starts in recovery mode 3.0
Due to the closed boot loader, it is not possible for me to install TWRP again, to flash another ROM with MiFlashTool. Also, the Unlock tool does not work, because I get the error message that the device is not linked to my account. I have also tried to install a recovery mod on the Xiaomi PC suite, as the bar remains on the PC but at 0%, on the phone remains the image with the pictured Mi8, after I in the recovery menu "Connect with MiAssistent "selected. Otherwise nothing happens.
With the latest version of the PC suite flashing works, but still boots the box in the recovery mode and the red font remains. Another user in the other forum said that I need the CN version, because on the CN device no EU-Rome is allowed. The CN version is rejected by the PC suite not get verified.
What else can I do. Do you have an idea that helps me getting the phone back on track?
This, for me, is the biggest joke of Xiaomi! Many users are getting stuck in this new policy! That does not exist! A total lack of respect for brand lovers. Let the developers figure out how to reverse this.
try CN Dev version, is latest and best,
forget xiaomi.eu rom lol, almost all they do you can do by yourself within minutes, uninstalling few chinese apps and get google works with googleinstaller_v3. and dev rom have root. just suggestion.
I tried the last cn-version, but the pc-suite dont verify this ROM and dont flash it.

Miflasher dont work, because the bootloader is locked.
To OP and the issue at hand, have you tried the fastboot image to install chinese stable or developer rom? That should flash and allow you to unlock bootloader again.
To the people whining about this policy of Xiaomi, you are buying a product for a different market. There is nothing wrong with their policy and you should wait for global version of the phone if you want global image with locked bootloader. It's a little like complaining that the chinese MMO you play over vpn doesn't have english menus. Well no, it's not for that market.

I tried only the chinese recovery rom for flashing with the pc-suite. The fastboot image, I can only flash with twrp or miflashtool, right? TWRP dont work, I cant boot in it. And miflashtool says, as I tried to flash the global rom, that it isnt allowed to erase a locked device.

Nah, the fastboot image flashes best in my experience if you unpack it, all the way. You will get some folders and .bat files. make sure you have fastboot in either PATH or same directory make sure fastboot detects the image and after that run the flash_all.bat and it should flash it.

hello everyone
Buy a Chinese mi8, unlock it waiting for the days that xiaomi tells you.
I installed the global version, and everything works correctly, but I want to change the rom.
I've tried to install TWRP with adb and it's impossible, it tells me the ADB template that OKEY, but never restarts in recovery mode with TWRP, so I can not install magisk, or any rom that is not official.
Is there any way to install a ROM (.zip) without TWRP?, how do I do Root without magisk? Has it happened to anyone?
thanks!
First of all, you're in the wrong section.
Second you should install via fastboot as described a thousand times AND reboot directly to your TWRP image via fastboot command.
The you can flash another from and root it.
Third, I'd like to strongly advice you to do some research about android, flashing etc to make sure that you know what you are doing.... So many people are moaning about bricked devices....

Why didn't you post your exact steps with fastboot in the first post?
Now it's clear what you did wrong. I already expected it. And you did NOT read what I wrote:
You are rebooting your device with fastboot reboot. In this case your twrp is wiped out by the XIAOMI recovery. Use: fastboot boot yourimagename.
btw, why are you using such an old TWRP? You won't be able to flash actual roms.
So I'd like to come back to my advice in the first answer....

You can't flash a ROM without TWRP and Magisk is the only way you can root your phone that I know of. If you don't even know these simple things/haven't done simple research you might risk to softbrick or even hardbrick your new and shiny phone. There are many guides on how to flash TWRP but you can PM me if you want more help.
Also you don't install TWRP with adb, you need to use fastboot...

As far as you can revive the phone from QDL9008 back to HOS/OOS, you now have a chance Again to switch over whatever ROM or OS you want later on.

and booted into system. I was confused and rebooted but now I was stuck in stock recovery. So I completely flashed TWRP
on boot_a and boot_b and into TWRP I rooted my device. But even now I am always bootlooping into TWRP and can't
get my phone to boot into system.
I tried using the unbrick tool but my device won't show up on my computer, even with the driver installed.
I'm screwed, can someone help?
Can I somehow reflash the stock recovery and revert back to my patched boot image?

You havn't bricked your phone, just put it in fastboot mode and reupload boot image to the correct slot !

Thanks for your replies! I was on OOS 9.5.5 and I tried flashing the twrp/magisk zips but that didn't work either. I also tried applying the stock boot.img to the active slot, but still got the recovery bootloop.
So as my last hope, I wiped all data in recovery mode, rebooted to fastboot and sideloaded the complete stock image from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-7-pro-t3931424
I reconfigured my phone from scratch, rooted with the patched boot image like before and everythings works now. Guess I will not bother with TWRP any time soon.
Added global and EU packages.

Yes, the packages are interchangable.

But I think that these packages will not work on T-mobile 1915!
When I reboot into edl mode, it recognizes the "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008", but then 10 seconds later, the phone automatically boots the the battery display, which disables edl. The same this happens whether I use the vol up+down and plug in, or `adb reboot edl`.
Edit: "How I learned to stop worrying and risk a brick"
Selecting the right COM and hitting start in MSMtool in that 10 second window kept it in edl mode for the duration of the flash.
My first post, after some modding (and soft bricking too:silly My recovery doesn't work anymore (Touch not working, twrp 3.1.1-1) I want to flash stock miui 11 global with miFlash but it gives me the Flash vendor_ab error. What I have to do? or maybe u have a method to solve my recovery. Fastboot works, bootloader unlocked. Let me know if u need logs. Thanks, at the moment I have no working phone.

Be sure that you are using Fastboot rom , and not a recovery rom.
Make sure that your ADB and drivers are up to date, and finally you may be experiencing the driver issue issue that a lot of people with Ryzen processors experience. I had the same issue on my Intel neon processors. This can be fixed by flash the batch file from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82607121&postcount=25
Unpack the fastboot file twice on your desktop and then combined with the batch file it should flash.
