Root for Boost Mobile moto e5 plus available? - Moto E5 Questions & Answers

Is there a clear guide available yet that works for Root for Boost Mobile moto e5 plus ?
Does everything work after root i.e. tether / gps/ finger print etc?
I have the e4 plus but this looks like a good upgrade.

I used the guide on here for E5 play/ plus which unlocks bootloader and then fastboot boots into TWRP to do a back up so you can patch the boot.img with magisk and then flash the patched boot.img with fastboot.
Hope that helps!

No I did it the hard way, easy way involves flashing the patched boot img the op provided and I believe it won't work on all E5/ E5 Plus variants.

cool thanks. just wondering.. how do you like the phone after root etc? I have the e4 plus with OrionOS custom rom and I'm not sure how much of a upgrade it'll be. Right now the phone is $119

The E5 Plus is a really awesome phone, considering what I paid for one on Boost Mobile using their fall promo code I can't praise it enough. Others might have a better screen, others might have a faster processor, others might have a better camera. But THIS phone hits all the key areas at a BETTER value than anything else I looked at. The Boost E5 Plus also gets the snapdragon 435 octacore whereas many other variants I saw only have the 425 quadcore. And then there's Turbo charge out of the box, a crazy 5000 mAh battery, and a 6" hd+ screen. All for roughly $150-180 minus promo codes. I went out and bought another just because.
I also should note I'm a HUGE Motorola fan although I'd still buy this phone if it was made by someone else. But knowing it's from them I'm that much happier.

I tried that guide and could not get it to work.

Where did it go wrong? I'm also trying to get mine rooted, but have not tried yet as all the guides are for the Play, not the Plus.

General:
Hey guys,
Welcome to my All-in-1-FlashTool for the Moto X 2014
My target is to publish my All-in-1-FlashTool for several devices.
This tool helps you to flash .img files or similar things. It' a alternative for my Univeral_ADB-Helper tool which you can use as well.
It includes the most important commands to flash your phone.
The tool is an easy batch file, so you only need to unpack the .zip and run the batch file.
It is still in development and new features will be added soon.
I don't have this phone for my own, I've just developed this tool for its.

If it requires unlocked bootloader, how it unlock the bootloader?
Unlocked Bootloader is required to make use of all functions.
e.g.: flash recovery
One function of this tool is to unlock the bootloader.

I'm running a 2014 on USC. This works on the USC variant? I've had too many issues in the past trying to work with software for a specific carrier on the same phone with a different carrier (that whole Mesmerize vs Fascinate fiasco Samsung had going) and would rather not risk losing my current daily driver.

[SOLVED BY WARRANTY - BOARD REPLACEMENT] HELP - Wrong firmware flashed on my XT1078

Hey guys, first of all i'm not a new kid on the block regarding android. In fact i'm one of the developers of crDroid Android.
Yesterday, august 11, i flashed an XT1068 on my XT1078 Moto G 4G. It boots ok, enter in fastboot and all other flashing stuffs. But my device ends with a wrong firmware inside and without any kind of data signal even wifi.
When i try to install my current firmware, fastboot shows some "downgrade" and "PIV" messages for bootloader, boot and system images.
My question is: there are a fix, workaround, hack or something for this?
My bootloader version isn't unlockable. I'm waiting an answer of motorola in that case
Any help will be very welcome
Thanks already

Hey man.
Coming from the world of flashing Nexus devices, I've gone through similar issues on both my moto x (2014) and moto g (xt1072).
Firstly, Motorola bootloaders (motoboot) don't seem to like being downgraded at all. So never do that, version numbers can be tricky to come by, so worth keeping note of.
The fact that it boots is good too.
The reason you're not getting mobile data is most likely because the new modem you flashed is incompatible with your firmware, does the xt1068 have LTE?
However the internals are basically the same as mine as far as I'm aware, so that is probably why it boots.
I've gotten those pink error messages as well on my old X, but only when I tried converting to a different model for faster updates. Never did any harm, but I do know that you never downgrade a Motorola bootloader.

Hey man!
Both devices are almost the same. The main difference is that XT1068 don't have LTE and XT1078 (mine) have.
I'm keeping contact with motorola because my device isn't unlockable (bootloader) but i don't have too much hope for a fix.
Anyway, thanks for your comment here friend!

No worries, you could just flash your baseband again and erase the modems and you should have connectivity back. Maybe your original firmware is older the than one you flashed. Probably doesn't like going backwards. Could perhaps find a newer factory image once 5.1 is released.

How to change our N6 bootscreen to match the new Google logo?

As many of us have noticed, our N6 is still showing the old "google" logo when our devices boots up, so I ask the next question:

sure, but not something that you can do, as you highly risk bricking your device to change it.

When I had my OnePlus One, I remember that there was a thread in the official forums that described the procedure to change the boot image, and people started posting flasheable zips that changed that.

same with the n5, but its not so simple on the n6.
With the N5, those flashable zips were actually modified bootloaders. I haven't seen such a tool here yet, though I haven't been looking. It took quite some time fter the n5 was released before that happened too. In fact I'd not long changed my bootloader before I ditched the n5 for the n6.

Yeah, I also remember flashing one of those zips on my N5.
Damn. D=
When i briefly had my Moto X 2014 dev edition, they have a flashable zip to get rid of the splash screen that had a warning about an unlocked bootloader on it, so i don't see why it can't be the same for the N6.

It all involved being able to inject the images into the bootloader. Now the motox may have a different bootloader, or even store the splash screen in a different location.
Samsung is different to HTC, who are different to LG, who are different to Moto.. But just because moto built this bootloader, doesn't mean it's the same as the other motos, because it's built to Google specifications.
Is it possible, yeah sure. It just needs to be figured out of it hasn't been already.

Done it a few times, works great!

Hybrid slot micro sd/second SIM

Hi, I have a question for you, surely you know more than me.
The 128 Gb S10 arrived and configured. It runs very well and it is a nice device. But I have a problem: in the old smartphone I had the possibility to use the dual sim and the micro sd at the same time (through a small chip to insert in the hybrid slot). I noticed that in s10 it doesn't work and it seems to be a lock related to Samsung. You can confirm? Can you tell me if using root and modding it is possible to work around this problem?
The chip in question is the following, for clarity:

Yeah, they don't allow this any more.
They already did this on s9, this method ceased to work with last updates. With root, I believe there's a magisk module that enables both sim and microsd.
Not sure if that module works on s10 tho.
Thank you Xiux. I will wait for a solution for the S10.

Yes, if you have unlocked bootloader
Hi,
I bought one of these adapter on amazon. And its works!
There are two requirement:
Being rooted and xposed (Edxposed) with this module:
Galaxy S9 Dual SIM + SDCard Unlock - http://repo.xposed.info/module/s9dualsim.cloudtech.at.s9dualsim
And finally buy one adapter the shortest as possible.
The fact is you have to get a case to hide the adapter and notice that I protect the behind of my phone from scratchs with an adhesive tape
Thank you guys.
Could you please link me the procedure to unlock to bootloader and to root the S10?
Thank you

Moto G9 Play bricked by booting wrong twrp?

Hello forum, if someone could help me finding out, whether I bricked my device doing a pat step, or if it's still possible to recover it, I'd be most glad!
After unlocking the bootloader, it might be, I did a wrong step restarting too soon or something, or trying to boot into a wrong twrp-version. Actually I don't remember each step, as this happened a few months ago...
Thank you for now,
draftflash
if you still can, boot into fastboot and on your pc type
fastboot -w reboot.
if it doesn't work then consider using this firmware updater https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-stock-rom-for-xt2083-reteu.4214883/

ouh, don't think so. I choose it for being said to be a bit lighter. But I am thinking of changing back to LineageOS for /e/ is a bit too close to conventional ROMs, regarding the user surface. But actually I don't know the newer versions of LineageOS.

I dont know if it is available, but for another phone I´ve tried dotOS and was pretty nice, at least on the surface, didn´t dig too deep inside the OS but it seems like a good option, also it has optimization in its DNA
